I’m Puerto Rican. Old school folks in PR make chitterlings too. Except they fry them after boiling them. Most young folks won’t touch them but I think they’re fantastic. Then again, at 46 years old, I’m not sure if I qualify as young anymore. Haha. Happy new year! I really enjoy your videos.

I am ready to cry because I am not well enough to prepare chitterlings today. My first paid job was cleaning chitterlings. I bragged about my mother's cooking so much that my friends' parents started asking her to fix them. She said since I started a business for her I could help clean them. I've been cleaning and cooking them since elementary school 😂. I truly enjoy your videos. Often times it is bittersweet to watch, but it's like a hug from the past. Exactly as I eat them😋. Thank you and blessings. 💖🙏🏾

I love chitterlings, they don't like me,was a tradition in my home growing up. My mom cleaned and cooked them for new years along side of the other traditional dishes. She also after cooking them to be tender. She would take so of the larger chitterlings out the pot roll them In cornmeal, drop in hot oil and fry some. Was really delish like fried tripe..

Oh my goodness this brings back memories of my childhood - our New Years meal was chitterlings with hog maws, greens, and potato salad. Dad would buy 6-7 of the red buckets of chitterlings and the whole family cleaned them - everybody took a rotating hourly shift until they were all cleaned and mom always added hog maws to ours too she said to stretch the chitterlings (we called them chitlins). We used tie a mask over our face to try and block the smell so I will definitely be trying the Italian dressing trick and will share this info with my family. Chef Jeff may you have a Blessed and Prosperous New Year🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾

OMG, this reminds me of my younger brother. My parents would help a farmer who was a fellow church member during his annual hog killing season. They’d bring home so many chittlins to clean and share with other members. My brother was too young to leave the yard alone. He got so upset and took a whole bottle of my mom’s perfumed sachet ad spread it under his nose for hours to minimize the smell. 🤣🤣. My mom tried to skin him! I’m the only one in my family who eats them now. My mom loved them fried. I think I’ll try some one day soon.

    Good Morning Chef Jeff
Oh yeah! This takes me back to my younger days when my Grandmother always had chitterlings, collard greens , black eyed peas and cornbread for the New Year😋

Chef Jeffrey, yes you did this recipe on the Chitterlings. Thank you for showing us how to marinate to kill the smell. My husband loves them with hot sauce. When I was a little girl, we got Chitterlings free from the meat market, and cleaned them in the #10 tub. We also love the beef tripe and fried tripe, you talking about good eating. My Mom would have candid yams, cabbage, black-eyed peas, rice and cornbread. Happy New Year to you and the Old School Soul Food Family. Stay safe.

*Almost 65 years ago* _my cousin and I sneaked into the kitchen‼️A big trough of chittlins’ had only been cooking for about 30 minutes. He got the bowl, I got a big fork and we got us some and ran to the backyard. Oh, did I say they had only been cooking for about 30 minutes? We dug in‼️ We we’re over the toilet for the rest of the day😜Needless to say…I don’t eat chittlins’. My husband and son love them and I will never deny my husband this New 🎉Years enjoyment, but there are somethings you’ll never forget_

I made chitlins for the first time this New Years. Cleaned then REAL well. Cut up hog maws into them..Poured Italian dressing over it all night NOBODY knew I was cooking chitlins. I cut up onions, green peppers, red peppers, celery and garlic and a little white vinegar. I also added a package of onion soup mix..Delicious! My husband had 2 great big plates. My sister in law and friend came over and loved them too...Thank you for the video!

Good Morning, Chef Jeff! That's a great tip about the Italian dressing. I will pass it on. Though I don't eat nor cook them, I grew up with my dad cooking them and my husband loves them. I cleaned and cooked chittlins once in my life. New Years Day, 1995. My mom wanted some but she had just been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and was too weak to clean them so I cleaned and cooked them for her. I'm glad I did because that was the last thing I was able to do for her before she passed. I wish I had known about this back then😅 Love the way you present your recipes. It's simple comfort soul food and the recipes are easy to follow. Thank you! Have a blessed and prosperous New Year! I'm excited to see what 2022 brings.

Vlogmas Day 23. Yes chitterlings!!! I love them. My children's grandmother used to cook them once a year. I looked forward to a bowl with some hot sauce and some corn bread. She's 89 now and lives so far away. I miss her so much. Sweet memories of her and her many hours labouring cleaning and cooking chitterlings. I have not had any chitterlings in about 20 years. I remember growing up and a neighbor of my family used to worked at a factory that kills pigs. He used to bring my mom chitterlin every week. I spent my whole summer one year cleaning them. My mom told me that it is a good thing to learn how to clean them now during the summer months than the fall season because I will need to show you how to cook them correctly before the holidays. Since I enjoy eating them around the holidays. My mom used to say "Take your time when it comes to cleaning meats property because you don't want someone to get sick from it. "

Those look so good 😋. I haven’t had chitlins in a while. Mom made them at least twice a year but she passed in 2019. My daughter loves them so I guess I have to try making on my own. Wish me luck🤞🏽

Good morning Chef Jeffrey. OMG, I'm so jealous! 🙄 Another item I couldn't find when I shopped for groceries. 🥴 Years ago before I stopped cooking big meals(for a few reasons), I would clean 40 pounds all by my lonesome with a few hog maws in them for New Year. Because my kids felt they were too good to help clean. My daughter even cried when I tried to get her to help. Yet, she practically would knock you over trying to be the first one to fix her a plate. I'd bake me some pig feet, a few pig Snoots, and all the trimmings. 😋😋 Learned something new again today. I was told put a white potato 🥔 in the pot to keep them from smelling, but it never worked ☺️. Although the smell never bothered me I only tried it to please everyone else 🙄. Thanks for sharing your tips. Now, I'm a bit more disappointed that's won't be having any. But, it's all good 😊, bcuz I'm so blessed in so many ways. Happy New Year to you and your mom. Happy New Year to all your subscribers. May we all be blessed even more this New Year to come with good health, peace of mind, and more closeness with our families. 🤗🙏🏽

Subscribed to your channel tonight, I'm glad I found you because you can cook. Love me some chittlins. This is the first year I didn't have chittlins for Thanksgiving. Couldn't find any but my sister found some for Christmas and they were so good. God Bless❤

Where I’m from, we used crawdads as bait. Used to catch ‘em down at the creek. Dug for worms along the banks of the creek. But I’ll tear up some chitterlings. Especially if they’ve been fried.

Happy New Year Chef👨🏾‍🍳 I haven’t eaten pork in almost 40 years, but this brings back great memories of my mother making two pots because she knew it would be like a pack of hyenas to the slaughter. Trust me there were no leftovers on January 2 😋

Thanks for the inspiration. I eat these, but not often. The only way that I like them is battered and fried. I just rummaged through my freezer looking for a package I bought two years ago of Aunt Bessie's. I have them in cold water defrosting. Now to find or make some Italian Salad Dressing. TY 😊 #HelpSomebodyOldSchoolSoulFood2021 😊
