I used to attend a church that would have a fish fry every year at the end of the summer and they would have fried chittlins as a second option. Haven't had them in over a decade but I remember really enjoying them. I'm looking into making some myself. Thank you for this video
I’m from South Carolina and man I grew up tearing them jokers up with some Rice and Hot Sauce never had em fried tho, they also have something called the Chittlen Strut (Cook Off).
Especially for a side dish for older family members during Thanksgiving, Xmas, new years. We couldn't find none last year. No store had any. Ill start searching early this year. I want 3 bucket for the upcoming holidays. I alway add Hog Maw wow.
I grew up eating chitlings boiled but i can't eat them any more, I never heard of fried before. I wish I could still eat them, because I would've loved to try them fried. 😊
i wish you could make the sound just a little louder for us old people. i never had them but want to buy them and cook them like you did. they look good.
My granny would fry a portion of the chitterlings after she cleaned and cooked a ten gallon bucket for the holidays, thanksgiving and Christmas! She cooked them in long strips as opposed to chopping them up in small pieces and fried them like that after they cooled in the fridge! Hot sauce and vinegar with some hot water cornbread!
Loved your video. I liked and subscribed. This will be my first time making chitterlings, I bought the Aunt Bessie's brand, I see some people take the membrane off, and others didn't. What would you suggest? I love the idea of effortless and easy!
Hello! I have known many folks that skin off the inside membrane, and I have seen many that don't... personally, I think if you clean them very well its ok, but to each his or her own! You can try them each way to see which is best for you I think... either way, thanks so much for watching and commenting! Take care!
Mannnn listen!!! My grandma used to cook them over rice and onions. As a kid I would eat them wit her. Now, that I’m a adult I would definitely try this!!!!
My mama fried them a different way after boiling, drained and cut up. she fried them in a small amount of oil just enough so they wouldn't stick to the pan continuously stirring them getting the crunch desired and not drying them out. Keep the juice if you dry them out a little to much, put a liitle juice on them the way you desire or individual plate over rice or without they're delicious!!❤❤❤ 😋 chittlerling are full of fat anyway to fry them this way is new to me just saying!! I 😙😁
I love chittlins, never had them fried and now I'm having such a hard time finding them in the stores. Even the last holiday season i couldn't find any anywhere.
Im from Kentucky & other than fried chicken livers, fried chitterlings are my favorite meal to eat whilst drinking a 6pk of beer... I like plenty of hot sauce on my fried chicken livers & chitterlings. You make yours very similar to how i make mine
I was driving through Mississippi on a cross country road trip. A gas station I stopped at was selling fried chitlins on a stick. I was stuck in thought about that for the next couple hours.
Hello! I don't think it tastes like either, they have a taste all their own... you can make the texture however you like, softer cook longer, more chewy - less... I personally like them soft enough to just use a fork to cut 'em if they are not pre-cut before cooking! hope this helps!
@@estherchan6180 I think I boiled that batch over a hour. I would say start testing the tenderness after 45 minutes or so and add water during the boil as needed!
If you can find some Filipino "chicharon bulaklak" i guarantee you'll love it. Its our version of chitlins but its not actually the intestines. I think in English, its called "ruffle fat" So damn good when fried and dipped in spiced vinegar. If you like pork rinds or chitlins, you'll love chicharon bulaklak
I remember during thanksgiving we went to my mom cousin house. I smelled something sink in the kitchen. I had no idea what it was but I found out it was chitlins. I never even tried it because the smell turned me off. Usually if i don't like the smell of something I won't like the taste either.
Yes! I am thinking about doing a live session with just that idea! Please subscribe to be informed on it if you haven't already! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
