I came here to try and find a video for someone else who wanted to know how to clean them (I don't clean cook nor eat them myself) and I ended up watching the entire video because you have the most friendly articulate voice! I could just listen to you talk about whatever even chitlins!❤️
You are so kind and I could tell you were a Godly woman before you even started to talk about God. Preaching always welcome! Love your video!! God bless you!
Gina's bout the cleanest woman, cooking I've watched. Couple o tut her womrn( one that makes homemade dressing) .I'll let you who else when think of them ok? Ok.....
My Lord... I'm not into chitterlings but it's about 3 in the morning & her voice kept me all the way to the end. I must also say she definitely has a passion & gift for cooking from heaven... I know simply because God gave me the gift as well.... excellent presentation... 👍👍🔥🔥🙏🙏👏👏
Those commenting about slavery and things of that matter, just remember that this part of the hog or pig was all that they left our ancestors to make due with and they made them good! And truth be told more white people eat chitterlings more than is known about! Especially in the south! Great video my sister and keep the good work! God bless🙏🏾
@Jefferson Mason I don't believe it's the chitterlins that is the problem, because I just about guarantee you that most Black people eat chitterlins maybe one or two times in a year. That's most Black people. It is too much work and is generally eaten as a treat for some holiday and maybe one other time during the year. So calm yourself down. It just might be that good old red meat called steak that is to blame. Or, just plain old overeating. And heaven forbid you eat all those pies, cakes, cookies and other desserts that you don't complain about. And spaghetti, rice, and potatoes. They are all killing us off, but I'll bet you see no problem with those things that have half the population being diabetic. Right? FOOD FOR THOUGHT!!! So, what do you eat?
Jefferson Mason Facts man , it’s not about race to me , it’s just the fact on the history behind them , I haven’t tasted them but I think it’s fucking disgusting but If some think it’s good then oh well ; but trust me they can’t be that damn good , it’s like eating straight up nastiness , the only reason I’m not a vegetarian yet is because I love beef , I don’t eat pork and I only eat white meat chicken , but deep down none of this meat is good for you , but at least Burgers, Steaks , and Chicken is good asf
@Jefferson Mason In your original comment, you were speaking about chitterlins and stated this food is literally cancer. You are wrong about potatoes. They are very bad in and of themselves. They are full of starch and high in carbohydrates. Corn is also not good along with the rest of the things I mentioned in my previous response.
@Jefferson Mason if you are not about to go back and forth with me, then why did you respond? I've known that corn is especially bad for Black people because we don't digest it well. Now, believe me, I love corn and everything else that I named, but I don't eat them anymore. I'm not putting anyone down who does, as I'm just plain old jealous of those who can. And you're absolutely right about everything in moderation. So, this should end our battle over what one should or could eat. You eat the corn and I will eat the chitterlins! I don't cook them and rarely have the occasion to eat them, but when I do, I'm smiling! Lol! Have a very Happy Thanksgiving!
I only came here to find out how chittlins are cleaned and cooked. I was curious. What I got was THE best video on how to cook chittlins. It was entertaining too. Now I want to cook chittlins. Thanks for making me hungry.
I have to be honest, it is very depressing reading all of the comments claiming you're a slave mentally for eating these. It breaks my heart. The hatred. The meaness. It is so clear Your level of love Is unreal. Thank you for being you and Staying TENDER HARTED. I have never had these before. I am a dark girl that didn't grow up Around a ton of black culture But i have a lot Of empathy for You. You're amamzing. Great wife Great Mom❤ God loves you so much!
I just came to learn about chitlins to distract myself from a horrible couple days and ended up getting the simple verse that would touch my heart and change my feelings. I've sat through full church services without feeling that touch in my heart but a simple message from a genuine person can be all the church your heart needs. 😭 God is not done with us yet. This was a divine arrangement. Thank you. ❤
I'm a professional Cook who has been cooking chilttings for over 30 years. Tried your method. All I can say about them is that the flavoring was Eplc. I have subscribed.
Eric Scales awesome thanks for sharing that God bless you thanks for watching enjoy the rest of the channel for more great recipes happy thanksgiving 😊❤️
I'm a professional cook as well and your cleaning technique was exactly correct!! I haven't had them in a long time but I would eat yours for sure and my mamma!!!!
Hi can you please add the ingredients in the listing? And the step by step. I don't want go keep watching the video over and over just to know what to do. Do u have another recipe without the brought? Like more of a gravy not soupy Thx u. Pleasant voice. Great manners. God bless u. Stay humble and blessed.
Ok so, ALMOST ALL of the comments are either questions or comments about chitterlings. Ms Gina, you’ve CHANGED MY LIFE with this recipe. I followed your instructions exactly and I added in one more rinse to be sure during cleaning. Full disclosure I have NEVER cooked or even remember having chittlins’ as a kid. Mom never cooked them as we did not eat pork growing up. All I can say is that they turned out Fantastic! I got thumbs up from all who tried them on Christmas even the elder ladies who’ve cooked them for years! I am honored and humbled. THANKS SO MUCH! Will keep these in the rotation next year 👍🏾
I will probably never try these, I'm not even sure why this video came up in my suggestions, but this video was very informative. And I just love your voice it's so relaxing
I came here to say I love her voice too. So calming! I just made chitterlings but I did not use the potato or do the preboil. I am going to do it next time.
Every time I heard of chitterlings, I thought it sounded gross. It still SOUNDS gross, but what this woman did looks freaking amazing. I would love to try these now.
Food safety at its finest. This lady was very clean and thorough. I am 34 years old and tried a piece of chitlin for the first time at a Thanksgiving dinner I was invited to this year. It wasn't bad, I thought it would be terrible. The 80 year old woman who cooked them was also very clean and precise. And the only reason I attempted it, other than the fact that the preparer was clean, was because this dish was something that at some point in time kept my ancestors alive. I wanted to connect. I fell into the hype of people down-talking this dish because it is pig's intestines, but these same people eat sausage (which is meat stuffed into an intestine), tripe, stomach or a variety of any other food which is considered unclean/un-natural by someone. (Including processed, gmo, fast food, etc.) On top of that, I'm pretty sure my ancestors didn't get their pigs (or chicken, beef and fish) from feed lots where animals were fed unnatural diets... which means they had a better quality animal/product. Anyhoo, once that little piece was on my plate I thought, "You only live once... so grow a pair and try it." Glad I did. Well, my testimony is over... great video. Blessings to all. ❤
I come from a family that eats chitlins mainly on the holidays now, the youngins really don't like them and don't eat them. So its Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years that we get to eat this delicacy. You don't know how good they are until you at least give them a try. For sure, you can't eat just anybody's chitlins. Thank you for keeping it real.
Oh my goodness! I'm going to make this and I'm going to make it EXACTLY the way you instructed! I'm Filipino, this is similar to a dish called sisig but sisig has liver, pork belly and/or parts of the head too. My grandmother used to emphasize the importance of cleaning the "bituka"/chitterlings and she used only salt to clean them and she par boiled them too. I like the tip to use baking soda to clean and tenderize, and half a potato to help with the smell. Thank you for this video!!! Also, you have a great voice, I can tell that you are truly happy cooking this dish and sharing your recipe. I like to hum and sing when I cook too. How can you not be happy when cooking for family and friends! Sharing the love!
I swear this woman is the female version of Mr.Rogers. her voice is so calm and relaxing! Never had any plans of making Chitterlings, but I might do just that this weekend. Keep up the good work! ❤
The good Lord sent me here tonight.. I was feeling down and out, besides looking for the proper way on how to cook Chitterlings and I stumbled into a patient, soothing and loving person! I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart, not just for the great recipe but for YOU! I am now a Subscriber! Many Blessings to you and yours! ♥️💐👍🏼💯
Love Chittlings. I'm used to my dad just cooking them with onions salt and pepper. He would let them cook down until they were like gravy and serve over rice. Also, fried chittlings are good too. Dip them in pancake batter with lipton onion soup mix and fry in oil. Best things ever!
YES, it takes a LOT of work AND seasonings for chitterlings. I leave the vegetables whole and I haven't used bouillon. That's an AWESOME idea since the first water is poured off! I'll have to try this the next time! I like to have candied yams and greens and cornbread with mine. Thanks for sharing!
I don't cook my chittlening like that to much bullshit in the poor chittlening where in the hell are you from and i am a southern woman and I never seen anyone cook with all that stuff in it so to me someone showed you the wrong way
I don't care for chitlins, but I watched any out of curiosity...when you spoke about Mary Mary and their song. God was speaking through, that word was for somebody.
Ma'am i wanna thank you feom the bottom of my heart. I jus cooked my first batch on my own since my mother passed. An i wanna let you know when i got dome i cried because it reminded me of my mother teaching me how to kobe in tha kitchen. So from Kente Angle an my family thank you so much mama for a split second you reminded me of what it was like.to have my mother in tha kitchen with me teaching me before she passed away. So once again THANK YPU SO MUCH CAUSE IT NOT ONLY MENT SOMETHING TO ME BUT MY WHOLE FAMILY
Years ago, my wife and I stopped at a little roadside restaurant in Georgia. They had chitterlings on the menu. I tried them and fell in love with them. I really enjoy Gina’s recipes. Great lady. Thanks Gina.
People needs to stop criticizing , making unecessary.... negative comments!!!! If you never eat something....... you can never know what It tastes like...., everyman eats according to what his/ her stomach could take so...., all you need to do is... prepare it to your likeness....then, cook and eat to your desire..... ! We all came from different cultural backgrounds!! It's not bad to try someone elses dish.
Happy day I tried to eat it as a kid... And the smell from the chitterlings would be on the cup I drank out of. No gum... Breath mints help me. Only toothpaste did. Lol.
Man, your family is so lucky to have you. You just KNOW they're eating good wholesome food when you make CHITLINS look like something Gordon Ramsay would be proud of!
I can't believe people on here has turned This Woman's video into a race thing and talking about slavery. I'm pretty sure she just wanted to share some good cooking and things that she likes to cook. And so many of y'all have turned this entire thing into slavery black people black women slave masters and so much other foolishness. When you see the video you see the title and she is talking about making chitlins if you don't eat them then don't click on the video why waste your time speaking so negative about somebody else's video. What people eat is what they choose to eat what is the big deal. if you're a vegan more power to you if you are a meat eater more power to you when are we going to start just learning to get along with one another. especially us black people cuz we are the first ones to criticize another black person on what they choose to wear eat sing and worship. Some of y'all need some lives
Exactly, I don't think I could ever eat this, to be honest, but I can appreciate her sharing the culture, her passion and ethic into preparing this. I can respect that, even if it is not for me. Got to love her enthusiasm too!
SOUL OF A WOMAN PRODUCTION Exactly, all these people with negative comments are eating P***y and sucking d**ks but ok, and to those that are talking about what God said about eating the pig you are right the scriptures does say that, but the scriptures tells us about a whole lot of commandments and things we should not do or avoid. Try following those as well before condemning someone else’s actions. 🤦🏽♀️
@@melodihester5764 I thought the video was very interesting. I picked chilling twice a year, for the holidays I don't have a negative comment.. She was very nice and enthused. The only thing that I was bothered by. She threw half of her chitlins away.. thin layer of film or membrane as she said she was pulling off. You shouldn't pull all of that off. only the chunks of fat that are left on them. The chitlins that she had had already been picked. The real nasty stuff was going. She threw away just as many as she kelp. She bought three beds and ended up with 2.
Exactly! It's American and deserves respect! It is extremely helpful for those who can't clean them right. My grandmother was a little careless when she use to clean them, old age I guess.
Exactly! Tbh if our ancestors didn't eat them not for nourishment, but for survival a lot of us wouldn't be here! To each their own! If you don't like them, don't eat them! If I don't like something I won't eat it and go on about my business!
Gina Young, I just tried you recipe for Chiterlings. It was fantastic. You hear me! It was my 2nd time ever cooking them. I got an early start to my Thanksgiving cooking. Every single item worked. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed Holiday season.
Thanks for sharing just two days ago.. I'm also doing mines the way she did her . I've already washed and bagged last weekend. My question is will the chitlin lose it taste after washing them with the baking soda.
Damn she cleaned the mess out of them things to the point of it looking like animal mess to actual food. Kinda looks like a Yoshinoya beef and onion bowl.
While in the Navy, whenever I came home my momma would ask me what I to eat it was always chitterlins, her potato salad, and collard greens. Lady, you brought back some good memories. Thank you. You gave me another way to cook my chitterlins.
Mark Young That sounds delicious! My family's chitterlings meal was: chitlins, candied yams and Greens mix of Collards-Turnips-Mustard and some cornbread. Of course dessert was Banana Pudding, southern style😍
Mine are on the stove as as I type this. Just tasted the broth and 😍 delish! Added bonus, the house smells great! I think they get a bad name because people don't know how to clean them properly. Thank you for walking me through my first time making this tasty dish!
Omgee I’ve been wanting someone to cook these. Thank you so much I believe you when you say your house don’t smell that potatoe does wonders. Plus you cleaned the mess out of them literally lol
Thank you for this video I’m a young woman trying to update my catalog in cooking and only eat chitterlings once a year due to no one wanting to cook them so I’m gonna make some this year by myself thank you for the video it was very nice and informative. Plus you are a great teacher. Be blessed!
I just wanted to say. Your voice and personality is so comforting. I loved watching your video. It was like i was right there with you. And i LOVED the "preaching".
My husband always spoke of chitlins, I didn't know how to clean or cook them so he only got them when vacation time came & we went to MS, no I have never ate them, the smell of them cooking or something had an ODD smell. Then I found out they were pig intestines. Now, if I'd seen your way of doing chitlins I'd give it a try just because he loved them. I did make him boiled peanuts, which I love. Rest in Peace Bill.
That's because whomever cooked them didn't use the potatoes or onions. The smell is horrible and stays in your house for days. My condolences to you and your family.
I feel like a pressure cooker would knock off a heck of a lot of time on this recipe and tenderize quickly, but I totally understand the patience in cooking aspect....time and patience add love and FLAVOR
Two things missing hot sauce and cornbread! Cornbread to sopped up the juice! In my opinions the side dish to go with those chittlings is collard greens yams and potato salad with cornbread dressing and bake Mac and cheese purple hull peas and cornbread muffin! And a big glass of lemon ice tea! Making myself hungry with this menu..oh by the way, good job with the chittlings TFS
Love the greens & Sweet Potatoes & the cornbread pot liquor but I have never been around those Chitterlings as no one in my family or Friends Eats Them
Pamela Ann Watching Gina cook those chittlings gave me a appetite for food! Haven't had a appetite for food for along time! Hope I have a appetite for Thanksgiving dinner!
I saw that too but I suspect that was a mistake from her filming and cleaning at the same time. This is the type of tedious work that you need to keep your focus on
I don’t like the way she puts waste and clean chitterlings in same sink. Should put a waste bag on opposite side of sink away from the clean ones. She needs to separate clean ones from unclean ones.
I’ve never cleaned, nor cooked, or contemplated eating chitterlings prepared by someone under 72 years old ( they know how to clean them)but I’m definitely going to use this video. Great informative video!!!
You know what? I agree to some of the comments, some don't believe that pork intestines are being eaten and that they equate to slavery is just being racist to the highest level. What if I tell you that here in the Philippines, every part of a pig is being eaten and nothing goes to waste (EVEN BLOOD, INNARDS, REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM, EVERY BODY PART EVEN THE EYES, ETC.). Her cooking is actually a more higher level of cooking pig intestines, looks classy and looks very delicious. Wait till you get here and eat our food (I do dare everyone). Maybe yes, it's due to survival but cooking food or eating food should not be disrespected in any way. You may not like it but it should not give you the right to equate it to racism. God bless you dear. Your voice is very soothing and you are so sweet. You cooked the chitterlings far from what I know based on filipino recipes here but I can tell it is really, really flavorful and hearty. God bless you always!!! 😊😊😊
Andrea So I guess "God" wanted an entire slave population to die of starvation? Because when all you have to eat are these things, trust me, you're gonna eat them; and be thankful.
An God bless your blessed words. Over our dear beloved Gina's food. We thankyou lord jesus where two or three gather. Your in the midst. Listen to her humming heart.
IN MY FAMILY, MOST OF US HAVE ENJOYED CHITLINS, BUT TO EACH THEIR OWN. MY SON SAW HIS FATHER AND I EATING THEM ONE DAY AND WITHOUT ANY PROMPTING, HE PUT SOME IN A BOWL, PUT HOT SAUCE ON THEM AND ATE THEM AND HES BEEN EATING THEM EVER SINCE! HE TOLD US THEY WERE TASTY AND HE WAS IN HIS 20s THEN, NOW HES IN HIS 30s AND HE LOVES THEM! GOOD EATING! THANKS GINA!
Hi Gina. Just a suggestion, when separating the membrane from the chitterlings, try doing that under running water or use the water in the sink. The membrane separates much easier. My dad taught me that several years ago. Now I clean chitterlings for him because it got too time consuming for him. He'll cook them, but I clean them. Happy Holidays to you and your family! :)
I used to watch my favorite auntie clean her chittlins when I was little but I refused to eat them. The texture turned me off. I was just mesmerized by how she went through them like she was looking for a golden ticket😂thank you for the memories Gina❤️
D S thanks and thanks for watching I’m so glad you enjoyed the video God bless you have a great holiday enjoy the rest of the channel for more great recipes ❤️😊
Gina....I subscribed to your channel after watching you make chitlins(which I have never wanted to try). However, your voice, patience, cleaning(PERFECTLY), seasoning, you would be the ONLY person I would like to try them with! You did a BEAUTIFUL JOB with your recipe of LOVE 💕!! God BLESS YOU and your “OHANA” sweetheart.
Thanks so much for your help, I’m sure my chitlins are clean, I used aunt Bessie chitterlings, and they were easy to use. I still followed your cleaning 👍🏽🍽😍
I grew up in Rural Alabama and some of the best Chitterlings I ate where from boss in Mobile who is a white man he cook 40lbs and gave me at least 5lbs
OMG Yes and Great Video! I enjoyed washing, picking, cleaning, cooking and eating chitterlings. I add hog maws in mine too.❤ My boyfriend doesn't eat them but my family and the majority of his family loves them. I believed that my boyfriend might try them and will love them.Very true you can't eat everyone's chitterlings. I can't wait for Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's. Thanks Gina for sharing your recipe. You always cook with love.😊❤
Just cleaned 20 lbs last months for the upcoming holidays. I find it easier to clean two bags at a time, refreeze them. I thaw, add hog maws and cook them later. Cleaning and refreezing in advance is easier than trying to clean 50 lbs at one time, plus do all the other cooking. I always serve them with rice, sweet potato casserole, collards, potato salad, cornbread.
@@tisascott8249 The military taught the students in the culinary school to use the potato to draw out the salt and the smell. Her way is awesome, and this is the way they should be done.
Never had chitterlings but I remember my grandma cooking them when I was younger. I got some today to test out with my dinner this Sunday. Thank you so much for this amazing video.
I don’t eat chitlins but I’m not about to bash anyone else for eating them. Everyone has their own tastes and preference in food. If you eat them, that’s okay. If you don’t eat them, that’s okay but don’t bash someone because of what they eat. It really be your own people 🤦🏾♀️
In the Bible it says “It’s not what you put into your mouth that makes u unclean. It’s what comes out of your mouth that defiles and makes you unclean.” Mathew 15:11 just a little information for you. Happy Thanksgiving 🦃🍁🍽
I showed my mother this video and she loves it she said regarding your video after watching: after 20 years I’m going to cook chittlins thanks to Gina’s video. I love the idea of the seasonings and the overall cleanliness of your chittlins. Because everybody else isn’t this clean. My mother also wants to tell you that you gave her tips that she didn’t even realize and she’s going to be cooking these for Christmas. Happy holidays Gina. 😺
I am 43 and have never had chitterlings. I heard about it growing up but no one in my family ever made it. I am very curious as to what it tastes like. Your recipe looks very good, maybe I’ll work up the courage to try and make it lol. Thanks for making this video. 😋💙
I don’t eat chitterlings but after watching you clean the heck out of them, I would definitely eat them. You did a great job Miss Gina! To be honest this was the first video I watched of yours. That’s when I started watching you!🙋🏾♀️
Somebody please give Ms. Gina her own cooking show so she can show us how it suppose to be done really enjoyed your vid. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY MS.GINA.
In this video I clean the chit lin’s two times so I go over them a second time to make sure I didn’t miss anything God bless enjoy

Making a solo pot of chitlins this year because all the people who use to make them for me are no longer with us. Thank you so much for this.

Thank you. ❤

I would never put that crap in my mouth

You know it's real when you hear the chirp from the smoke detector with the low battery.

I thought the battery chirp was coming from my upstairs smoke detector. I kept pausing the video to listen!! LOL LOL
Ikr?! Why do I wait until it no longer registers and somebody else mentions it?😏
