I have never heard of cooking chitterlings that way. I am from up north and most of us pronounce it the same way as the blogger. I don't care how clean you clean them, you should always change the water after they come to the first boil. I am speaking from experience of my mom, dad, aunties of which they were all from down south, with the exception of my dad. After discarding the first boil with all the stuff from the chitterings😉, you pour hot water over the chitterlings and then you add your seasonings. I just use onions, celery, salt, pepper, red pepper, brown vinegar, a little garlic and onion powder. Here is a little secret I will share with you, cook them in a ceramic dutch oven pot, they will cook faster and they are so tender. I cook greens, bean soups, etc, in the pot. I love it. Oh, when the chitterlings are done I cut them up and I add hot sauce, and a little worceshire sauce to them. I'm cooking some for thanksgiving! I buy aunt Bessie, I know they're expensive, but it worth it. Have a happy holiday, and enjoy your chitterlings no matter how you cook them.

With so many critical/negative comments I can see why you were hesitant to film this vid. From the way you “correctly” enunciate the word Chit-ter-lings to the fact that you didn’t cut them before hand (which isn’t a MUST), to your choice of seasonings, and the fact that you only cooked them 2:30 (even though ppl can CLEARLY see how tender they were when you cut them). 🤦‍♀️ 🤦‍♀️
Ma’am they looked perfect! They were seasoned VERY well and I will be trying them your way next time. Thank you so much for sharing. Btw: I too pronounce them they way they are SPELLED, depending on my audience. #KeepOnCooking #KeepOnDoItYOURWAY

It was the first time I've ever cooked chitlins and the first time I've had them in around 5 years since I had them at my mother's house for the holidays. Thanks for this video. I'm a white guy from the North. I went down South and ate Queen Ella (or something like that) chitlins many times. I didn't know you were supposed to clean them carefully. The first time I saw hog maws, I was staying at a hotel room in Wadley, Georgia in 1983. I put them in a pan on a hot plate. Soon the other residents were aware of what was on the menu at my place. I tried to make these once and I got a bag that said pre cleaned.....heat cook and serve and that's exactly what I did. 😆 😆 no cleaning or nothing. 😆 😆 they didn't come out they way I thought they would. These look really good.

Please..the next time you get some clean them and cook them. They're cleaned as far as no waste or trash but they still have that membrane.

There is a golden rule in our home that if anyone complains about the smell before cooking them will not eat any after they are done and we would cook spaghetti, black-eyed peas, turnip greens, cream slaw and fish who also put some jalapeno peppers in there whole and cook it in Texas Pete Hot Sauce and we still put some cayenne pepper in it

I’m all Italian & I’ve been eating them & cooking & cleaning lol since 5. I’m 52. I Always just cover the top w/ water . I then after cleaned 2x , I put in w/ water, when that’s gone ? Chicken broth . I have to cook that way in order to chew & enjoy ! A potato just soak’s up any sodium that’s in there . I’ve never been able to cut the smell until I put seasoning’s that I like in them , just not too soon the flavour will cook away. My Mom when she was alive , I was NEVER allowed to buy in a bucket?? Never asked , I buy them in a bag . If cleaned & cooked correctly? BANGIN!!! I mean , I’m from the North !! Oh well lol

She only cooked 2.5 hours because she did not have that many. Most time when I cook chitterlings I have about 30 lbs so it takes about 5 to 6 hours
