- In West Africa, Burkina Faso's leader, Paul-Henri Damiba, has been ousted in a military coup. Captain Ibrahim Traore has taken over as interim leader
The soldiers behind the coup say they have dissolved the government and suspended the constitution. That's according to a statement read by an army army captain on state television. Earlier, explosions and heavy gunfire were reported near the presidential palace in the capital Wagadugu. Damiba's military junta seized power just nine months ago.

"Even if it takes 10 coups, we will find the right solution"
Something tells me there won't ever be a right solution for Burkina Faso
Nor for the rest of Africa. Read Ph Pn's comment for all the reasons why.
Sadly no, and seems like it for much of Africa. Africa has so many issues when i comes to politics has so many issues when it comes to even education. Unfortunately Africa is filled with countries with revolving doors. If countries claimed their territories again like France and actually helped instead of fully pulling out you would see stability.
Ils vont d'irregularite en irregularite et pensent trouver la bonne formule au bout du compte.
A mon avis tout militaire qui s'empare du pouvoir le fait pour son propre benefice.
Unless the return of a Thomas Sankara, a charismatic man without any measure who had big plans for his country. Like food independence and such.

Resources must be deserve for local people for each country, in the first. Not only for Europe and other rich people, who robbed countries.
history will remember this
What's behind the coup, in Burkina as in Mali, Guinea and elsewhere in Africa where such things seem to be endemic, is an under-developed political culture on the citizens' side ; armies and governments that are led by people who do not understand the value of legal-based political frameworks. As a result, corruption is far more reaching than even so-called experts are aware of, and this corruption like a sociological infection, undermines all attempts at nation-building. Nations have the elites, armies and leaders they deserve - these are people who come from the same culture as the ones they oppress and steal from. What are the real causes ? Low literacy, inequality for women, superstition ; archaic power structures right down to the family unit. It took Western nations millennia of strife to inch forward, and there's still a long way to go. These are rural cultures with only a very short experience for social organisation in cities and republics : Expect to see this sort of mess for well over a hundred more years. Things take time and people only change because a sufficient amount of them have no other choice : It's hard to learn from the past because each generation erases the lessons learned by their forebears ; only an big emphasis on literacy and education can help lessons to bridge across generations.
That's very true, and well written. Thanks for your insight
Agree. And when they put in a new ruler, they never make the system itself anti corrupt. We dont even do that in the developed west. Its amazing it still functioning at the level we are at even in the current chaos with the russian war.

Corruption decays societies all over the world, not just Africa. We have to try to find systems of governance which are transparent and represent the will of the people, working for the people and not just the 1%, as Bernie Sanders says.
who dat
Impossible, it's in human nature to rule & be ruled.
Democracy promotes corruption
No that greed there a different
The FBI has estimated an annual $300 billion damage globally caused by corruption. I think it is an underestimation, because the indirect damage, the undermining of the people’s basic trust in state institutions and the associated disregard for law at the lowest level, is difficult to quantify. . I think it’s a downward spiral - poverty creates corruption and corruption creates more poverty. It's no coincidence that the poorest countries are the most corrupt. You're right; it would be madness not to fight corruption at all stages of society by setting rail tracks and checks as long it is still posible. Because, once the scale of corruption has reached a certain point, there is no way to turn this around.
For this, robust and independent oversight structures, transparency and a socially just economic system are needed. That also means that companies or officials, conduction corruption in other countries, have to held accountable in their countries.
Ooo Mother Africa, when will you get out of nightmares. Allow the system to work.

Burkina Faso like its neighbors in Africa suffers from what the Europeans and other developed regions had undergone in the past. It's hard to impose the values necessary to run a functioning government and a democratic on top of that in these nations. Why? Because it takes time to develop a modern society. Europe suffered countless bloodbaths along the way to develop in its present form. Not just Europe, India, China, and also others.
Only education enables to shorten the gap between the likes of Burkina Faso and let's say, France or Spain. That's why dictators and corrupt officials often hate educated masses. They wanted the people to remain uneducated, ignorant, uncaring about politics. They wanted to retain the rotten old system.
While what you said is true about other countries also having many coups to finally form what they have today, you’re also downplaying the huge and long power and oppression that Africa endured under western colonization. And while some of the countries you listed were also under western control for some time, they also have the trade and easier environmental stability that Africa does not have. Africa was also colonized longer than India, for example. There was also the Trans-Atlantic slave routes that really debilitated those countries, the exploitation of all of the people to remained in Africa, for example, through mining, and the total robbery of Africa’s natural resources. Colonization is what first kept the people “illiterate”. And assassinations of leaders they actually liked due to western sympathizers as well as the west not like that person in power, like Thomas Sankara, is what continues to hold the people back.
@@radiclelife Thanks for an informed comment

It always comes down to the right leader. South Africa had Nelson Mandela. It comes down to a leader to enforce the law, remove corruption and peacefully step down from power and give the people a taste of what a true democracy is. Otherwise if there is Tyranny and corruption lingers in the government, it will cause a coupe which can also cause a power vacuum which will further corrupt the government and force more mistrust amongst the citizens towards the government which slows progress. Progress can always be reversed.

Coups are taking place in this country as often as we change our underwears. 🤣
The reason why the coup is taking place is because the previous person that was in power was incompetent. He took over and it got worse more territory was lost to terrorists. The people and soldiers were hoping that he could bring change to the country as Sankara and Assimi goita is currently doing in Mali. Due to lack progress in taking back territory as was happening during Roch presidency they began to think that he is one the French's puppets like Blaise was and so the coup was initiated
In a few months' time you will discover that this new leader is only interested in having the power himself.
Hopefully the military can bring socialist human rights policies to ensure self determination within Burkina Faso and stop the capitalist and specifically french imperialists from corrupting their government again

The issue with all of the African countries is the corruption and lack of value within their currency a long with the lack of support. Many of these countries left from their hosts in shambles and were already suffering with issues. Sadly to this day no one has helped fix that.
The Afrikans can fix their issues without the continued meddling of the West and Globalists.
they don't need people like you to help to help them, you are the problem
I Stand With Russia 🇷🇺 - First of all if you need put the blame on the western powers, France, UK and US for all of the troubles in africa. These countries colonised and have been stealing resources since they carved out pieces of africa from themselves. Yes african leaders are corrupt but if you are blind to these puppets who are supported by the western powers, and in doing so are allowed to enrich themselves as long as they approve shady contracts allowing private companies who mine the resources and export them back to Europe and US for their financial gain. France has 14 countries that have to have their reserves in a french bank up to 65% , in a currency printed by the French. how can these countries thrive and build a better country for themselves? like Dubai did with its oil?. These new leaders that are doing Coups are tired for colonialism. They want to rule the country by themselves without the west being always involved. Africa is the Richest continent but has never see the benefit from it because its stolen. The US which always tries to police the world but does the worst crimes to humanity on a daily basis but condemns this, so does France. People are so quick to forget what happend in Libya. They didnt want Gaddafi creating currency for a the whole of africa that could rival the Dollar and British pound , because they know Africa actually has the Gold and reserves to back up that currency if it ever was created. The Fall of the dollar is going to happen we just dont know when that will be
The issue is that a white man is trying to explain to us what our problems are
@adamaboussoukkar8832 Westerners look at coups in Africa and assume every coup brings into power a corrupt, power-hungry man. As we have seen in 1984 this is not always the case, a second Sankara has arrived. Good luck to you from India 🇮🇳
