Finished a session of a few hours of math homework, looking for a video to watch and there is TGV who uploaded a new video a few minutes ago !! Thanks for the 30 min break ;) !
In a more broad sense, Taylor of Old Bond St items, history books, quality leather money wallet, signet ring and single malt Whisky etc are always great gifts for the discerning gentleman. That bezel setting system is damn cool I must say.
The Rolex is definitively impressive, I've seen pictures of this watch before but never heard of its modus-operandi...Its really heavy! My heaviest watch (Orient 469SS040) has 255g, and you never forget that you're wearing it! For a 42mm watch, this is really hefty!
yaaaaaasss! finally, Tristanooooo! I have already started to rewatch your videos, cause 3 videos a week seems not enough to me right now 😂 Do keep up the good work, sir, as always, (your ''ciao' goes here in my head :D)
Always enjoy your videos, thank you for taking the time to bring so much to everyone. Just picked up another datejust from 1985. I love my Rollie's. Alas, I probably will never have the resources for the sky dweller but truly enjoy just seeing it. I'd love to see a review of the new yachtmaster with the rubber oysterflex strap. It is causing quite a stir.
Good idea, I don't personally use them but I will consider looking into them for a future video. As a gift suggestion, excellent idea! Thank you, Best regards, TGV
I just purchased a Steinhart Ocean One Legacy I hope a guy can wear it to was concerned it might be a ladies watch. What I like about you is that you do not use the Term Shitter watchs. Is your name Urban Genty? Thank You Randy
why don't you do watch reviews in separate vids? Would attract more views that way no? And its two video's so double the revenue? I could be wrong though
Ironically, more videos take more time. Difficult to explain but its not a money issue, I have a real job and life bound this, I have to make videos this way for the moment as my time is limited, Thank you, Best regards, TGV
You're mixing up millimeters and centimeters in the Colareb lengths Mr. TGV. Not a big deal, you're forgiven for being an Englishman living in NYC, but don't forget your Italian and thus metric roots.
I really enjoy your videos, so much info and knowledge. I bought a sinn 104 that I use everyday and I enjoy it. I think Sinn outperformed the Squale in your comparison video but ill let that slide lol ;) I don't know why that guy hunter/adriqos knocked the squale so much? I think its a cool watch at a decent price.....anyway who cares what he says.
Hi TGV - Thanks for the video. Really like the canvas straps for a unique change. ColaReb, what can I say, they are my leather strap provider of choice. A nice family indeed. Best Regards, John
«This is my little timex my 1963. Ironically i'm wearing the same day i'm reviewing on of the most expensive watches i've had on the channel. But this just for demonstrate why i love this hobby and passion so much because i can spend thirty dollars and i can get a watch as classy ans as cool and made in Great Britain. You don't have to spend much money to enjoy this passion! » RESPECT MY FRIEND…That's why I love so much your channel.
My boyfriend and I have this ongoing joke about how I "go on dates w Gentry" because I can't stop watching UG videos and it's created this love affair. But now UG is talking about centering chakras with stones and I think this is it...this is my favorite youtube channel of all time...I mean CMON! I'm telling my guy he's going to need to make room for Gentry bc it doesn't get better than this.
Great video as always TGV. I have been watching your channel for some time now and always find you're videos extremely helpful to an early on collector like myself. Keep up the great work!
Hey i really need your help, im buying my first Seiko .. but im lost ! ive been doing research for DAYS, ended up on ( SEIKO SNZF17J1..... Seiko Men's SNZH53....Seiko SKX007K2.... Seiko SKX009K2 ) . which one do you think ? ive seen a lot of your videos which helped, but want a final answer ! and can i buy them amazon ? or do you have a preferred website ?
Ah I love these Pre-Christmas gift idea Videos!! Very nice Items!! Just can't seem to find an option on Colareb to order straps in longer length!? I'll keep trying.. Anyway Great Video TGV!! BMJ ENGLAND.
well - not a big fan of Rolex, but this one delivers I have to admit! I did not know about bezel being mechanically engaged with the movement actually and delivering the functionality as well as look! I love this watch - really appreciate neat complication here. Agreed with cons - sizing (bigger and thicker than should be - Federico would disagree of course) and precious metal (price up to the sky) removes it from my radar unfortunately. I agree that for this money back cover should be transparent showing off highly decorated movement - but Rolex knows better I guess. Any way - thanks a lot for very informative video TGV - learning something new!
The 42mm size makes this a bit too gaudy for me especially in yellow gold. If it were produced in 36mm - 40mm I'd be much more intrigued. I agree the brown crocodile strap, rose gold case, chocolate dial is the best of the bunch! Maybe even the white gold on a strap too. Fantastic watch technically speaking however! Thanks for another great review.
You definitely know some of the most interesting people out there, eh? LOL. By the way, I love that obelisk, is really cool. Great video, can't wait for the day when you'll bring Patek, AP, Vacheron and maybe even Lange! Best regards, Michele.
I personally love the Sky-Dweller. Like the Day-Date it's a Rolex that is actually worth its price tag. One of my customers, a self-made entrepreneur in the building sector, has one and wears it every day on the bracelet. Now, he's a bigger Turkish gentleman and can pull it off but I just love living in a world where it is possible to work for a living and afford such a piece. Would I buy it given the money? Not a chance. But as an object d'art - wonderful.
The Rolex Sky Dweller is horological important, especially to Rolex which traditionally is such a slow moving and generally conservative watch maker. I can wear a 42, and if I had the $$$, then why not in yellow gold? I think, however, that it's over priced for what it offers, especially with such a solid, reliable but totally unattractive movement, when other companies have wonderful movements for the same cost, or less, even much less. I do wonder how many Sky Dwellers are actually being sold, but I guess we'll never get that question answered for certain. I appreciated the look at one and your very honest comments. Thanks again.
Greetings TGV, another great video, thanks. I commented on your intro a few videos back, suggested you try Sting's Englishman in New York. A really fitting tune, I think. On another note, I am going crazy looking for a Nato strap that fits well. I have rather large wrists, about 9" ,and straps are such an annoyance as the buckle is far outside the center of my wrist and I typically use the second hole of the strap. would love to find Natos in the 13" range. Can you offer any suggestions ?
Jesus for that amount of money I'd buy a boat or motorcycle or some other toy. IMO to purchase that watch you better have a stupid amount of disposable income. just my thoughts. Guess that's why I'm wearing a seiko.
southerncountryboy8 it's a far better from a holding value point of view, then a boat or bike. And if you know something about Boats, then you know that once you have the boat your experiences just have started and they never stop. But this Rolex is too much a new money kind of watch for me, I rather have the new gold yacht master.
That Rolex Skydweller is gaudy as all get out lol. maybe it's the bracelet being all gold as well as the bezel, indices etc. It almost looks like a 'fake' because it is so over the top gold, gold, gold, like the requisite fellow at the mall kiosk selling $14 crap.
I don't really like all gold watches but wow. The bracelet could have been more proportional to the case but I guess that was the look they were going for. Sigh, if only I had an unlimited reserve of cash......
Extremely good looking watch, BUT... the problem with Rolex watches is and will be the fake watch industry :( And not just because you cannot tell the difference (at least not from distance), but also because it spoils the beauty of these watches. Which is a shame, as this watch is stunning as stunning gets.
Not sure TGV if your correct about the length of the staps... you give them in mm iso cm I believe... A strap of 18mm is a bit short, I believe shall be 18cm :):) Otherwise a great video as usual.
Please Please Please TGV. please put the Tag Heuer GMT on one of those Colareb strap. Those straps looks amazing but I live half way around the world from Italy so it will take a long way to get to me. Want to get an informed decision prior to purchasing one !!!!
Since you are reviewing sort of obnoxious watches like this one. Would you please do a YM ii review? It's a watch that I very much would like to hate but it is really speaking to me. Not too many quality reviews on it. Please and thanks!
That's a nice Rolex. The case and bezel are kinda butch, like Rolexes usually are. I like a bit more elegant curves myself. And yeah, it is too big, and the price is of course ridiculous. But it is a respectable piece. I haven't seen a calender done like that before.
Really enjoyed this one, I would say I prefer the format in which there's a mixture of reviews or reviews and other content- it helps mix it up a bit, I have sometimes felt in a 30min one watch review vid that it gets a bit tedious after about 20mins- so this more recent way of doing stuff has been refreshing :)
TBJ, I have a question regarding watches in general. I have my new seiko 5 arriving later today. I heard from a few individuals that one must always advance a watch forward to set the proper time. I have seen evidence to the contrary regularly. Is this something I should be worried about?
I dislike gold watches more than anything, I feel as though they look cheap; which is the exact opposite of what it is. I don't know what it is but easily my least favorite. Loved the video though and will definitely be buying some watch bands
Some nice strap options there. I particularly like the olive green canvas, it's the strap of choice for me nowadays. Looking a grey one for a change up every now & then. Will take a gander over the holiday season. Thanks for the link.
My Hamilton khaki field auto has an 80 hour power reserve, which is higher than the Rolex, and the khaki king which I chose it over because of this feature
Hey TGV, whats your opinion on the Seiko turtle, do you own one, or have you held one in your hands? I love how iconic it is and how it appeared in Apocalypse Now.
stunning Rolex, not something I could ever afford but the chocolate version is gorgeous and I guess if its something you could afford why shouldn't you, as they say you only live once. TGV I would love to know where to find your little Timex I'd love one for my collection. cheers!
Thank you. I got the little Timex on eBay, I actually did a video about it and shared the seller, if you search timex and eBay in the archives, you should find it, happy hunting ;-) Best regards, TGV
haha it's all just a matter of perspective isn't it. If you think about it, it's quite incredible that it's considered normal for people to own such an expensive luxury commodity as a car and feel entitled to it. On some level it's quite insane to spend car money on a car haha
€40,000 for the Sky Dweller??? I'm afraid I could never justify that on any watch, even if it was made out of Adamantium! I'll happily stick with my new Sarb (bought mainly thanks to your videos). It's just a shame it cost €39,600 in shipping-now I look like an idiot!!
((:The Rolex Sky Dweller With the (Saros) Mechanism with its accurate calendar feature that's a pure work of art from Rolex Keep Up the Good Work, TGV. I'm Enjoying Your Show!!
I love that Tissot! Colareb - excellent idea. Like the idea of the springbar tool too. That Rolex has a very interesting (and pretty) dial. But I think it's just too much gold for my tastes. I was wondering what it would weigh, gold of course is quite a heavy metal. That bezel control is a cool feature! Ciao, John
Thank you John, I agree completely about the gold, but secretly I wish I could pull it off. I think my little Tudor DD on a strap is as much as I dare to go for the moment, maybe its an age thing too. I guess we will have to wait and find out ;-) Best regards, TGV
The Sky-Master is amazing - make mine a white gold Arabic numerals please! Love the Prince of Wales strap, looks like something my grandfather (or his friend Arthur Rubinstein) would wear.
What a goudy looking conflation, completely lacking any finesse. The thick Roman numerals which have been butchered to accommodate the large sub dial. Then there is the disparity of Roman numerals with Arabic, Why ? It has the appearance of having been designed by a committee.
What's up TGV ! I think the Rolex is beautiful but, I agree a bit big. Im feelin the all gray with the Timex, reminds me of black and white television. Is there anything that the Tudor doesn't work with ? lol
TGV!! I'm planning to get my girl a watch, preferably a couple watch (lol) do you think i should get a common brand or even a common model? ;) what are your thoughts?
Thank you Bob, I would love to but I am very behind in my reviews, I have something similar planned and I will certainly try time willing. Best regards, TGV
Someone please let me know that I am not the only one who watches watch related gift videos to find stuff for yourself! Great video, and I recently got a great vintage manual wind Timex for $6 at a thrift store so thanks for the inspiration TGV!
That excerpt in the beginning about the timex I'm using in my video. The colareb ostrich in grey I might pickup for my longines. Last but not least I'm not a fan of the Rollie, too big and bully. Dope vid, nice to see some good beats on the intro.
Put it on a NATO
The Acutron looks great on that leather.
Thank you Lee :D
Best regards,

Hefty indeed! That Orient must be big, 255g for steel is heavy!
Thank you Joao,
Best regards,
TGV
Its 46mm, but it has short and curved lugs...so its a perfect fit for me! It would look funny on you though hahahaah
work of art and priced as such. The Rolex foundation rides again. Excellent timepiece.
Nice intro using the Pharcyde instrumental
yaaaaaasss! finally, Tristanooooo! I have already started to rewatch your videos, cause 3 videos a week seems not enough to me right now 😂 Do keep up the good work, sir, as always, (your ''ciao' goes here in my head :D)

Hello TGV,

Soon. I am almost finished curating volume 4, stay tuned.
Thank you.

Intersting video on a watch i now leanred a lot about!
Something tells me that a bit of scotch tape might not protect agaisnt al scratches though aha
You're mixing up millimeters and centimeters in the Colareb lengths Mr. TGV.
Not a big deal, you're forgiven for being an Englishman living in NYC, but don't forget your Italian and thus metric roots.
Christophe Kruyniers Sting "Englishmen in NY" love that song.
My watch passion is turning into watch strap obsession... what the heck is wrong with me!
me too
Same here, I'm now running at about 70 straps!! Mainly NATO so not that expensive. I just love receiving them in the post!!
goddamn!!!

Is this watch a good investment?
Learnt so much from you TGV , can you please reply with your opinion on IS the TAG Heuer F1 calibre 5 all black is a good buy?
Great Video :) I love the look of the genuine crocodile, but I just couldn't morally justify one for myself.
TBJ,
I have a question regarding watches in general.

What about the 6062, moon phase, doesn't that have a full calendar? Correct me if I'm wrong, please.

I love how iconic it is and how it appeared in Apocalypse Now.
The Rolex Sky-Dweller is the perfect timepiece to wear when you're facing embezzlement charges.
PS. If you can get a look at this steel version with blue dial, I am sure many people would love to hear your comentary on it!
I 100% love the sky-dweller and watch all videos of it........ even from 2016
stunning Rolex, not something I could ever afford but the chocolate version is gorgeous and I guess if its something you could afford why shouldn't you, as they say you only live once. TGV I would love to know where to find your little Timex I'd love one for my collection. cheers!
Thank you. I got the little Timex on eBay, I actually did a video about it and shared the seller, if you search timex and eBay in the archives, you should find it, happy hunting ;-)
Best regards,

+The Urban Gentry many thanks TGV
If the added this complication to the Daytona, sub $50k I would buy it right now
I, too, have a small wrist, but I would be happy to sport this watch, although I would prefer a stainless steel model.
Pls can you Tell me, what's the best strap to choose. I mean like Patek Philippe is the best watch I need to know the best strap. Thx
Looks good on you! "Watches are like diamonds....the longer you wear them the smaller they get!"
Learnt so much from you TGV, wanted your opinion on the tag heuer F1 calibre 5
You're right about Burgeon tools. Best in class and the go to for many watchmakers.
That is just a sexy Rolex amazing just classy! Love the videos thanks tgv!
love your attention to details !!! i bet you love alex dumas the count of monte christo? also what do you do professionally ?
I would rather buy myself a nice Lange & Söhne for this amount of money!
26:55 Freudian Slip? It's insane how some people have so much money, they can wear a car on their wrist
haha it's all just a matter of perspective isn't it.
Enjoy the SARB ;-)
Thank you Simon,
Best regards,

Amazing review on the sky dweller 👌👌👌✌️
((:The Rolex Sky Dweller With the (Saros) Mechanism with its accurate calendar feature that's a pure work of art from Rolex Keep Up the Good Work, TGV.
I'm Enjoying Your Show!!
Thank you so much :D

I love that Tissot! Colareb - excellent idea. Like the idea of the springbar tool too. That Rolex has a very interesting (and pretty) dial. But I think it's just too much gold for my tastes. I was wondering what it would weigh, gold of course is quite a heavy metal. That bezel control is a cool feature! Ciao, John
Thank you John, I agree completely about the gold, but secretly I wish I could pull it off.
I think my little Tudor DD on a strap is as much as I dare to go for the moment, maybe its an age thing too.
I guess we will have to wait and find out ;-)
Best regards,

The Sky-Master is amazing - make mine a white gold Arabic numerals please! Love the Prince of Wales strap, looks like something my grandfather (or his friend Arthur Rubinstein) would wear.
Thank you Eric,

Buy a rolex then give it away as a 70K subscriber prize 🙄😒👍👀
Isambard Chisilwitt you don't just buy and giveaway a rolex xD
Isambard Chisilwitt I'd be satisfied with the Timex actually
What a goudy looking conflation, completely lacking any finesse. The thick Roman numerals which have been butchered to accommodate the large sub dial. Then there is the disparity of Roman numerals with Arabic, Why ? It has the appearance of having been designed by a committee.
Interesting comment,
Thank you for watching,
Best regards,
TGV
What's up TGV ! I think the Rolex is beautiful but, I agree a bit big. Im feelin the all gray with the Timex, reminds me of black and white television. Is there anything that the Tudor doesn't work with ? lol
Thank you SN, the Tudor is a true strap monster indeed!
Best regards,

TGV!! I'm planning to get my girl a watch, preferably a couple watch (lol) do you think i should get a common brand or even a common model? ;) what are your thoughts?
I would refer you to my video on buying watches for women,
I give a nice selection that should help,
Thank you,

Hello TGV, the Sky Dweller looks incredible. Will you do another 'non watch' Christmas gift suggestion video like you have done previously?
Thank you Bob, I would love to but I am very behind in my reviews, I have something similar planned and I will certainly try time willing.
Best regards,
TGV
+The Urban Gentry Why did't you put the Rolex on a nato? :D
Any suggestions for a reliable maker of watch winders?
For that price I think I would prefer a Lange.
Someone please let me know that I am not the only one who watches watch related gift videos to find stuff for yourself! Great video, and I recently got a great vintage manual wind Timex for $6 at a thrift store so thanks for the inspiration TGV!
Fantastic find! Congrats and thank you for the great comment,
Enjoy the Timex,
Best regards,
TGV
So there's the sea dweller, sky dweller, maybe land dweller next? :D :D ;D
I just bought a Sky Dweller today.. yah for me... but I dont know how to use all the functions, though :(
the manual that comes with it does not show u how to change the second time zone.
i like big watches but i'v seen these in shop windows and as amazing as i think it looks i do think it to big
The Rolex is really quite unpleasant. However I'm very glad you've given it the once over to confirm my view.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
If they decorated the movement they'd have to have an exhibition caseback, something Rolex has never done... I think. It's not the Rolex way
Certainly is not, but it would be a nice change.
Thank you,
Best regards,
TGV
Come on it says skydweller and you got us for 15 min in stones !!!!
Pharcyde! Labcabincalifornia, produced by dilla. You definitely have great taste in hip hop.
Thank you so much :D
LOVE Dilla, such amazing talent.
Best regards,
TGV
That watch has Federico written all over it!! I mean that in a nice way.
Yacht master 2 in gold must be more expensive.
Please give that snake skin a chance with the Tudor. :D
where did you get the sweater TGV? Its really nice!
That excerpt in the beginning about the timex I'm using in my video. The colareb ostrich in grey I might pickup for my longines. Last but not least I'm not a fan of the Rollie, too big and bully. Dope vid, nice to see some good beats on the intro.
The skydweller as depicted in this video is my grail.
Great video. Have you done a video on Rotary watches at all?
I want to buy one of those crocodile skin straps but ill bet because I live in Australia it will cost me a arm and a leg..
so crispy live in aussie too. You know any good automatic watch repairs shops? I'd sent it away to them if they r good... Thanks :)
The naive timer looks great on the sandy Wrist band
Simply amazing
How agrees
Thank you :D
Best regards,
TGV
Two questions. What do you do? And how do you do it? Hahaha.
