This video is pointless... but I made it anyway
It's all good, just need a distraction before headed back to work X)
seems legit
i mean might as well
is $shave future sponsor? why you don't shave
It makes me watch it :v (even when other people knows that I speak Spanish)
320x480 is definitely the best resolution for the titans to run at.
xD
DAT FPS DOH O.O
I think anything below 1024x512 ish and you may hit some diminishing returns...
I have ran physics on particles through the GPU, and at some point the FPS you gain is so small its not even worth it.
More like 320x200, 320x480 is too many pixels for titans.
does "the secret of monkey island" support sli?
If you find yourself with too many 1080s; I could store a few for you.
Anonomus Person Im interested
I would like this comment but it’s at 420
Dibs
Woah, you played Black Screen!? That's one of my favorite games!
Johannes MagEs my favorite game is 1 FPS
My favorite is SHIT game
I prefer the sequel- "no input"
The 3rd installation in the franchise called "Smoke Blocks My View". Very fun one. Sadly looking deeper in it I realized they took assets from "No Input" and added some volumetric filters on top and called it good. But hey - at least the gameplay is good :D
Guys What about the fourth edition, Frozen Loading Screen??
OKAY, Jay, You Have 3 1080's, BUT You only can use 2! THAT Means 3-2=1... So You can give the 1080 to me... What Do You Think? I can't give you a better offer bro...
quit begging
maybe you need to get more powerfull psu (power supply unit) for 3xGTX 1080.
Really? 3-2 = 1???!?!?!?!?!?!?!? Really???????!?!?!?!?!?!?!? How you did that tremendouns, complex calculus? That the most hardest calculus in the history of the universe.
it's a joke
But it's still not the difficultest of the most hardest calculus in the history of the dimension.
How do people defend Nvidia for controlling how we play?
Well hey Proto. Didn't think I'd meet you here. lol
Because brainwash
They give you free graphics cards to "review" and fly you to Europe for "meetings". Oh and cash enemas.
why would people pick niv over amd anywho lol. i mean, AMD has a way lesss buggy history, thats why i picked my 390x and it works wonderfully
NVidia only rules the marketplace because people buy into their shit and forgive every single shady business practice that they do. NVidia market heavily compared to AMD that is why people flock to it. Marketing is a powerful tool.
wow man I've been watching your videos since 70k subs, man so awesome seeing your channel grow!
I love how you use the reflection of the monitor to show yourself on camera while still being able to show the screen and workbench.
Since almost none of us will have this do 4K 8k and 21:9 just for the hell of it
And 1080p to see how overkill it is
but... 4 4K monitors :(
4 4k uhd monitors is exactly the same pixel count as 1 8k uhd monitor.
*****
Ya I messed up my terms I'll correct it.
Well I could downsample 4K
Do 720p res for the lulz
Only real gamers play at 720p
SnaG We dont need to znany 4k :P
720p, so you don't burn your eyes with all the graphics
Alex Sitaras lol
Get those high-quality pixels!
Old school Jay.. awesome to see how far the channel has come!
4K benchmarks all the way! Gotta show the true power of the machine
Resolution:
4:3 800x600, one of the most High-Def resolutions you can try.
That's how I play Enderal while Im waiting for my 1060 lol.
Ulieq need more than a 1060 to run that. need like 500 Titan XPs SLI
super vga
Sounds like an awesome idea. I always wanted to know what's it's like to own a console XD
***** Ohh shiit.
I want to see what Skunk Works will do with 640x480.
sadly me too
144p PC masterrace
I'm with you on that
The first game to test is Minecraft.
Ooo laa dee daa, look at this guy with his VGA, how about some EGA love?!
every time I restart your videos without addblock, congrats!! Keep on the great job!
I've been thinking a lot about this too Jay. Could you send me that third gtx 1080 so I can run some tests too?
3:20 3-way SLI and not a mousepad >.
lmao
If you got the right wood, and the right mouse, you don't have any need for a mousepad.
You do if you want to become a pro gamer, a 1mm mistake can be the difference between winning or going home sad.
+CruelFish Pro gamers are pro gamers because they are skilled, not because they have a mouse pad. You could probably give them an old school mouse with the ball inside that is all gunked up with a years worth of dead skin on a cobblestone street as the surface and they would smash the average player.
JediSoulfly No pro gamers are pro because someone pays them to be, and the second they become unskilled someone will stop paying them.
Not that we're arguing the same thing, but yeah.
For those who dont have 9 minutes 14 seconds, it doesnt work. Thats it, you dont have to watch the video.
ty
that's why I hate this youtuber
This isn't a tutorial, it doesn't have to be conveniently fast like one. It's an informative video so he explains what's going on and gives more background, which is what I think most are here for.
@giantfoam So why are you here?
is 'tl;dw' a thing? (too long;didn't watch) :)
Hey Jayz I have a question for you I want to do 4k gaming myself, I wanted to know what would be a good monitor size for 4k and how fast should the refresh rate be if I want to avoid screen tearing on games that play over 100 fps?
3-WAY SLI GTX 1080 Ti + Intel Core i7-4960X - ruclips.net/video/eyJyKtTt1rY/видео.html (Overwatch, PUBG)
8k upto 15K would be nice, at least you will be good till 2020
rofl. this setup wouldn't even run overwatch at 8k. let alone your abitrary resolution of 15k
1080p is roughly 2 million pixels.
4k is roughly 8 million pixels
8k is roughly 32 million pixels.
15k would be more or less 115 million pixels
get the picture? 50 times harder to drive than 1080p
2020? more like 2030.
No it's only good until 2018, tech upgrades so fast, by 2018 there's 100k
we're slowing down considerably i'd guess closer to 2030 honestly, we get closer to utilizing individual molecules in chips and cards every day and we're already 80% of the way there at this point from where we were 15 years ago.
Funny part is it gets even smaller in 40 your to reach that point..
Jay, its a no brainer. you must benchmark the new skunkworks at 4k. 100% absolutely have to. 4k set in stone, everything else is optional. It would be nice to see 21:9 benches too tho.
Sean Williams I feel that's overkill even for a predator x34
@James not if you want high framerates.
I would love to see some 21x9 results as well
With 2 Titan XPs 4k is easy to run
Absolutely agree with 4K plus something else. The system would likely hit the limits of the CPU in a few games at 1080p, so I wouldn't expect much more than a single OC'd Titan XP in 1080p. So maybe 4K plus 16:9 1440p, or 4K plus 3440x1440.
whats the point of doul lan ports? will i get a 16 bit lan connection or a 2000mbits connection?
Ok , watching you sit in anticipation was hysterically funny. You reminded me of myself doing the same thing :) Nice
Meanwhile, youtuber ThirtyIR got 4 way SLI Titan XP with perfect scaling with God like FPS at 4K haha.
oh my
Yeah, no idea why its working for him
exactly lol.
really curious how he pays for his tech. he doesn't articulate very well lol
yes he did but he needed to do things to make it work properly
i was thinking the exact same thing
Jay's got a nasty hobbit .. his name is Barnacules
BAM!
Thank you! *bows* Thank you!
*exeunt!*
anyone know what that white test bench looking case in the background is and who it's made by?
Found it, in case anyone else is wondering. www.primochill.com/product-category/test-benches/wet-bench/
Why do you want a test bench case?
064 Jay idk i think they are pretty dope. I mean other than no blocking of dust
New to your channel after the Terry Crews interview thing and wanted to learn more about mechanical keyboards. Long winded but wanted to say the quality and information of the videos you provide compared to other channels I follow on youtube is far better in my eyes.
1080p and ultra wide
1080p for the average gamer (people like me)
Ultra wide cause well cause you can
That would look hella janky.....
janky ? (did i miss something here)
Yeh xD when you down scale a really big monitor the rez looks really weird if you put it really low at least im my experience with csgo on my 32 inch 144p untrawide.
i run a 29" ultrawide with my gtx 970 just fine
Your monitor is 2560 x 1080 resolution though
hey how about using the third card for dedicated physx..?
That should be the definition of overkill...
VERY few games support PhysX cards. Only current game i can think if of is the new Batman games by Rocksteady. Beside that i would have to google physx games.
Additionally, a ton of tests have been done with late model cards that show little to no improvement with a dedicated card (in some cases worse). I think PhysX is something most of these new gen cards can handle on their own.
Ever since Maxwell you dont need a dedicated Physx cards. It does literally nothing.
+Flagyouraccount Very few game actually offer the PhysX settings, but many games use PhysX. For example Project Cars and Gears of War 3
Jayz... You da man! Keep it up! You are one of my favorite youtube channels right now! I almost want to start up my youtube channel again!
Useful video, and it's basically what I thought was going to happen. I go one step further and say that when a developer says "no longer supported", not only does it mean that they are no longer testing for that configuration, they have actively blocked that configuration out!
21:9 1080 and 1440
everytime i see this i still want to say 5760x1080 16:3 and 7680x1440 21:3.
turkeyguy0 7:1*
You literally simplified the ratio, i simplified it for the person who typically hops on the "screw the 98% of everyone" train, not the brainiest bunch of people so if you smack them with 7:1 they typically just go "that doesn't even exist" but if you give them 16 or 21 it's enough to bridge the gap and make that connection.
Hey Jay, The sharpness of the videos lately... Damn..
Really good!
what is that program to see the gpu stats at the top left corner?
Hey Jayz, Did you set 1 gpu to physX, ?. As I heard that you could!.. Great video, Always very informative, Thx.
i could use that extra gtx 1080
i have a gtx 660 lol
Might look at an rx 480 or a gtx 1060, prices are a lot more reasonable and they'll still do be more than fine on 1920x1080
U CAN USE IT I HAVE A FUCKING GT 120 xD
Peleliusion got an evga 1060 6gb
same gtx 660 here
I use 8400 gs pls hahahahah :C
just do 21:9 1440p, and 4k, all ultra presets, and turn on AA for the lulz. if your system is as overkill as you say, even if it doesnt make that much of a difference, just crank *everything* to the max
wayyyyy more people run 1440p over 4k. 4k is the niche one here.
yup. 4k at an acceptable frame-rate demands a very rare high performance system at the moment. If you can do it at minimum 60+ FPS, good for you. But that hardware is rare and fucking expensive. I'd much rather say 100 fps @ 1440p than 55 FPS @ 4k...
Yeah agreed. I think generally for the most part people would want 21:9 1440p ultra presets 60-100fps, over 4k 16:9 high presets 50-60fps
What is that case and/or gpu tester called? Planned to check it out..probably at newegg, just unsure where or what I'm looking for?
How these 3 graphics cards are cooling when they are next to each other and with these two from the end you can see that the air intakes are clogged by another graphics card?
4:3, 800x600. I think the titans will do best at this resolution
game engine also has fps limitations... Some can render 150 some can render 200 some can render 300 max fps... Some can render over 900...
Others may be CPU bound even with top-end CPUs.
Can you do two-way SLI plus a Phys-x card?
tbh three way is pointless too, I just want to know if it can be done.
I know Phys-x is not a very widely adopted tool and that after two way your 'returns' diminish significantly.
could you do it? yeah i guess.
but like 3 GPU's linked, it's not worth it. worse with PhysX stuff, because you'd probably get a 1-2 FPS increase.
Da not for him he get these cards for free! Since we average joe's would never be able to buy and set it up, it would be nice to watch jay rip his hair out figuring how to make that work. Now that's entertainment.
Dedicated physx card I had never heard of in
I understand that you asking it to be done just for the sake of it, but wouldn't nvidia cards already be able to do the phys-x stuff on their own with better results?
Hi Jay, what overlay software are you using to display gpu and cpu usages?
Which case are you using for the testbench? It looks cool and maybe I'll use it to show as a normal use case to show off my graphics card...
You can try 4 way crossfire with Vega.
Yeah but AMD supports more than 2 way Sli.
Actually AMD doesn't even support 2-way SLI. Crossfire, people.
AMD doesnt have SLI
misterPAINMAKER Sorry my bad. I meant to say multi gpu.
Or 4 way 480
over kill system.... well see how how high you can get resolution before its considered unplayable cause why not? if I had a system like that I'd figure out highest resolution with all of the eye candy turned on until I hit a cap somewhere that made said game unplayable.
try most demanding game that has a 4k texture mod available. turn up all AA settings ssao all that stuff to max setting. highest resolution. see what's possible cause overkill to the extreme :D
I like this idea lol
like crysis 3?
Greyson Monaghan-Bergson does it have a 4k texture mod? if yes then go for it :P
i think it would be better if did commit to this idea.
But the only real way to see how truly powerful skunk-works is. Is to benchmark on the most UN-OPTIMIZED he can find possible instead of all these near perfectly optimized ones since these games rarely tend to prove much of anything if at all ?
Anyone else agree with me on this front.
I know it might not work with other parts of the system but did you try rolling back your GPU drivers to before the 3rd graphics card was ruled out? Also I would guess that the games that refused to load have some code that looks for all the GPUs on the system and that's coming into conflict with the driver that says not to use 3 cards.
Did you have multi GPU enabled in the settings for Hitman with DX12? Just wondering.
The game runs better for me with 2x 1080s on DX12 than DX11 but multi gpu needs to be disabled. If it's enabled I get crazy artifacting/flickering going on.
I'd love to see the difference between 4k and 21:9.
you're comparing a resolution to an aspect ratio, this is comparing apples and oranges :P
TheMrminimario I know that. He already specified the exact resolution of the 21:9 monitor. Typing 21:9 was just easier to type than the full resolution
with 8,294,400px vs 4,953,600px, 2160p will perform ~40% worse than 3440*1440.
Thanks for the info. He asked what we wanted to see so I simply answered him. I'd still like to see the real world test even though I'm sure the math works.
yeah, sure. i just helped in the way i could.
obviously Jay should test 1080p, 1440p, 1800p, 2160p, and 4320p!
lol. that's way too much work to really bother but it **would** make the nicest Chart in the end...
I want to see 4K benchmarks and also 8K!!
Am I confused or would having VSync on, like you did in the Witcher, cause the third card not need to run at all, or do they share the load rather than providing power in sequence?
I have no idea how SLI works
What are u using that External Device on which 2 Graphics cards are placed tell me Bro
i want to see ultra wide res benchmarks
Please do the benchmarks at a 16:9 aspect ratio, using the standard resolutions: 4k, 1440, 1080.
Yup.
loving your video's! Where did you buy your test rig? i'd like to get somethimg similar. Cheers
jay man i love you vids and u and some other tech channels have inspired me to make my own channel about pc
How do these cards even cool down when they're blocking each other's fans?
They are blower style cards. The air is sucked in through the front end of the card, cycled through the card by the fan, and then exhausted out of the back of the card.
They're not completely blocked.
Ryan McGraw
Thanks!
If you look at the temps, you can see there was a marked difference between the cards. Obviously some interference, but not enough to affect the card. The fan on the hotter card would just work harder.
blower style cards. i love blower style :)
i wish i could afford 1 1080 :((((
Exactly! :)
sell more bananas
Become a politician, then you can put it on expenses.
I'm a hustler. That's what I am
Seine Dudeheit I got a 1080 ti for $0.99 :p
@JayzTwoCents Can one of the GPUs be turned off without actually unplugging it from the motherboard ? I'm planning on getting a 3 way SLI for deep learning. But I also want to do a little gaming. Does the third GPU necessarily have to come off when gaming ?
Hi. Is there still an issue with games failing when there's a third card in the system? I was thinking of 3x1080ti for deep neural networks training, as well as for gaming (as dual sli with the new sli bridge) on my limited free time.
Why don't you remove the sli bridge and see the results
Why would u ever do this ?
sometime can, it become DX12 have Nivida+AMD Enable mode without bridge, i what they do.
also you can run GTX950 or 940 no Bridge 3 SLI in full run
Irrelevant when referring to 3 1080's or 2 TitanX Pascals.
nvidia specifically says that sli will not work without the bridge.
He's not thinking about SLI, he's thinking about asynchronous compute
My best guess for the GPUs not showing full performance is because the FPS is locked.
BF4 seemed to be stuck at 200fps
Witcher and Hitman seemed to be stuck at 60fps
Did you activate vsync or something by any chance?
bf4 has a limit of 200 fps
witcher 3 defo appeared to have vsync
mastermhmd Yeah, whatever he did, it stuck to 200fps and the middle card didn't bother to try
yep you're right. And this guy has 850 000 subscribers. Sad...
Roman Spirin people make mistakes
Where did you get the bench case for the rig you used in this video? I absolutely fell in love with it watching your videos and I can't find anything similar anywhere.
Can you install an older driver to re-enable 3-way SLI? Just curious, if it was a recent driver change
Damn Jay, when I first starting watching your vids I was like meh, just more tech. But you've come along way and now I absolutely love your vids! Keep up the awesome work man!
but will 3 way SLI 1080 run solitaire smoothly?
15fps max setting
yeah but dont put it on ultra preset
Too many colors to render. Might crash really.
Yep, make sure only 8bit is allowed. And yeah don't keep reshuffling too often hahaha
+Madarashi™ lmfao
I would really love to know what application has that onscreen temps etc can you please tell
Sorry for the noob question, what program is he using to get the detailed GPU information overlay?
Name of the game is "Witcher"
doesnt know what the "witch knight guy" is called.
geralt of rivia (geralt de rive in french) from witcher 3
fallon dalphrase I meant his occupation.
I thought it would be clear.
You don't suppose that it's a joke?
no time for joke. anyway sorcereur
Official Me Witcher has become a benchmark game just like Crysis
What about a two 1080 2 way sli, and a third 1080 dedicated to physx?
I said the same..
so what about when you try this in span displays with surround ? said's that there a 3 monitor each monitor is dedicator to one gpu master DVI port ? is it ganna work ?
Hello, What Camera did you use to film this video ? Thanks!
4:20 When you Finally Visit Detroit
jay you look very manly with the stubble !
i thought he looks ill, i think he needs to get away from the pc for a few months
dude's getting shredded :)
Nah he definetly looks ill.
BRO, THATS GAY
EVGA Precision X and MSI Afterburner together installed, is that working good? Can you overclock with MSI Afterburner one time, and next time with Precision X? Doesn´t this make the system slower in any way, sometimes????????
What program are you using to show all that info ?
Jessy Normand MSI Afterburner
if you can manage to test in 3,440 x 1,440; do it. Set the "future standard".
I can only imagine what Star Citizen will end up looking like on something like a predator x34.
1920x1080, 1440p, and 4k
@JayzTwoCents will I run into the Same issues if I run two 1080's in SLI and use a third for physx? is a third overkill for physx? maybe a 1060?
+JayzTwoCents is that monitor your using a monoprice monitor? If so, what monitor is it and do you like it?
If you don't want that third 1080 in your system, we can talk about that card's future...
Why does the intro image say 12 power phase design on that mobo but I count 13 of those little highlighted blocks? What am I misunderstanding? lol
could be one for the RAM. idk
I believe it takes the first two to make it one phase, 3 for 2, etc. I could be wrong. if you find out, let me know
Mike Soda it's technically 12+1 ... I think the +1 works differently
I think the + 1 is like a power controller that regulates the rest... but I don't really know
Magno Man
Ah, thanks all.
I like how your monitors reflection kinda works as a face cam in some situations.
What PSU did you use? I thinking about building a 2-3 RTX 2080TI system in the coming months, looking for a PSU that can power it.
4K and 21:9 for sure, if you can. Or simply do 4K.
Nvidia honestly doesn't want to fucking make drivers for 3-4 way SLi.
they made that painfully clear.
That's because they could never match Crossfire for scaling, even with twice the PCIE bandwidth requirement and dedicated bridges.
Edit: not sure why RUclips won't let me respond to you directly, but:
"That's completely false."
- no, it isn't. Crossfire has always scaled better. A single (original) Titan X almost always beat a Fury X, but pair each of them up and the Fury X's _always_ beat the Titan X's. That's because Crossfire scales better.
Evidence:
www.tweaktown.com/articles/7226/amd-radeon-r9-fury-video-cards-crossfire/index5.html
- the Titan X beats the Fury X in most cases, but the Fury X Crossfire beats the Titan X SLI in practically every example. Nvidia had the faster card, but they lose when paired up because their scaling is inferior. You're free to look into the 390x/980 scenario as well, which features the exact same trend.
"Why focus driver support on the 1% when the 99% uses 1 card?"
- I might actually agree with that, were it not for the fact that Nvidia allow 3- and 4-way SLI in pre-determined benchmarks. What this shows is that they still want to make 4-way SLI out to be superior, but they can't make it work in real-world situations. They still want to feature at the top of the 3DMark charts, but they can't pull off the same results in everyday gaming. AMD can.
To rephrase your question, why focus support on benchmarks that only a fraction 1% will use? Why enable 4-way SLI when the test is pre-determined, but disable it for more organic scenarios?
Can you honestly tell me that this sounds reasonable to you?
Christ J 1. That's completely false.
2. Nvidia said themselves less than 1.2% of gamers actually used 3-4 GPUs
Why focus driver support on the 1% when the 99% uses 1 card?
I didn't read the comments so this may have been said, but if DX12 can natively support multiple cards then can you remove the bridge?
Is this worth revisiting? Maybe Adobe Vs. DaVinci for video editing?
nvidia: the way its meant to be played 👍🏻
21:9 makes sense but I think at least 4k should be considered and 1440p for high fps users. I know these benchmarks take tons of time but a good video would be cpu use across 1080p, 1440p, 3440x1440 and 4k?
main reason is I have a 4.6ghz 6700k with an evga 1080ftw and on 1080p/120hz I have higher cpu use than my 2700k 4.8ghz/gtx 770 at same resolution....I always read about this but seeing it was crazy. System was just built so I will be doing more thorough monitoring to be sure
thank you for always being open and honest with us.
How do you display all that info of your graphics card on the top left?
can i have the card then :P ?
RRBuilder this was 2 months ago..
Dozzy so?
So?
so?
So?
Buzz Feed video description LOL
So ive got a gtx 1080 aorus 11Gbps and im planning on buying another one. Will my 1080 work in sli with a different brand 1080 considering it has faster memory? And will it work with another 1080 if that one is an OC version?
Are there still issues with microstuttering if i am using two 1080´s ?
Too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Send me one of those cards jay I'll put it to good use.
About 2 years too late😂
since that 3rd card is such a problem I'll gladly take it off your hands ;)
What monitor do you use in your main setup?
nice video and great choice of ad before the video. (own an asrock z97 extreme9 and I absolutely admire it :D)
