Thank you - i used your method to replace the Knock sensor in My Accord Type - S , i got a pattern part for about £15, and had to purchase a Torque Wrench and socket extensions bar -( but i now have these tools for life) had to get my your lad to get his small hands through the manifold and remove/replace the cable clip and position the sockets etc as My hands were to big to fit through the gaps, Rest was easy, saved approx £500 on garage quote! many thanks

very good video, but i went ahead and removed the intake manifold and cleaned all the gunk out of it, sprayed throttle cleaner and let it dry. it’s a whole lot easier to replace the knock sensor without the manifold, just my personal opinion…

Bro you got big hand. I was able to remove sensor clip but unable get my socket to fit on the sensor! What size was it again?? 😅😅 27mm no?

  • @user-js4rd6en7w
    @user-js4rd6en7w 7 месяцев назад +4

I tried it this way, it sucked. I spent more than twice as much time trying to get it this way as it would have taken by the remove the intake manifold method.
There were plenty of issues this didn’t warn you about, and will cause you FITS as it did me. Just one - how about if the tab on the connector isn’t in the 10 o’clock position (as it had to be for this video)? Then you can’t disconnect it the way they did. And, how are you going to get the connector reconnected when you can’t even see the connector you are trying to get between your needle nose pliers (which has to be just the right length, by the way), let alone turn it to the needed orientation to reconnect it on the new sensor?
And I didn’t mention the nightmare it is when the old sensor falls out of your socket, or the socket catches on something when trying to take it out, and it comes off your extension and falls into that cavity below the knock sensor, and it can’t fall out the bottom. You have to try to get it out from there where you have no chance at getting your hand or fingers there, or any magnet ( had to Jack up the car and have a helper try to push it up from below with a skinny item, because you can’t get your hand in from underneath, either). There were other issues ( you may well need a 6 - point socket, etc.)…

Your right mine was more difficult to take out because the tab wasn't in the same position but it's still doable with an 11 inch plier left of the intake manifold. Still easier than taking the manifold out imo and if it's already working good no need to remove more stuff than needed

i just did mine with just a ratchet, extension and 27mm socket
cut some zipties that where cutting me
stuck arm in there then turning it to the right and disconnected the clip
got old one out with socket(little tight but just ease on it)
put napkin from free donut in socket to keep new one in the socket
thread it in just with the extension
tighten it snug with ratchet and little LITTLE more
reach in there and connect plug
(any more questions as me lets get the fking thing done)
i bought a $9 one off amazon and ill see if it works, i can already notice a difference in motor

Does anyone know the severity of this issue. I scanned my car and it said to change the sensor as soon as possible if I had driving issues. That it could damage the main system.

  • @locohobo1925

This seems doable, but if I take the old one out, but can’t get the new sensor in, and I have to take it to professional, can the car be driven without a knock sensor? Temporarily, of course. It’s just something I would like to try doing on my own.
