Hi Karen & Roger! Enjoyable Sunday morning video with a great cup of coffee & brunch! Two weeks ago ~ I had a life-altering 'Heart Surgery' & I am home recovering. I love roadside finds & have found several great items along the way. One trip driving to another province in Canada I found 2 similar carpets/rugs miles apart & in fantastic condition. Sold them both. I enjoyed viewing your lovely garden with you. You & Roger do not let any 'grass' grow beneath your feet! Lol! Patty ❤ Calgary Alberta 🇨🇦
"Free garbage!" "Is this the item that makes me rich?" The joy of the hunt. Treasures are everywhere!! Doesn't that make life more exciting? 😂❤ Thanks for taking us along!
I love pottery for decor. My dad was a "garbage picker" and I learned from the best lol. People throw away perfectly good stuff. Your yard is beautiful!
I'm not a reseller but I pick up free items that people leave out all over my neighbourhood. I'm always walking around with my dog. Some things I keep but most of them I clean then donate to a local thrift store run by a charity that supports the elderly in this neighbourhood
I love free. It's for me. I love watching you and Roger at the thrift store it's my favorite thing to do. I live in a very rural area and there is nothing to do but shop. So I'm always home watching you and Roger. Thank you for sharing I always appreciate any knowledge you can share. Thank you.
I've always liked you but I love you now!! Lol! When you looked in the trash bin! 😂 Really just stopped to look at what was thrown out!! Yay!! I make my husband so mad doing that!! 😂
I sold & ran my entire business on Facebook Marketplace for over 7 years (Covid shut it down). I sold vintage wooden crates, but I sometimes didn’t just sell the crates, if the buyer wanted, I would also use the crates to build different furniture & shelving units. I also helped many resellers set up their vintage booths &/or markets using the crates. What started as a hobby, quickly turned in to a business. I was so busy during those years & I did it all through marketplace. Yes, I dealt with flaky people at times & scammers & all else that goes with selling on a public platform, but it didn’t slow me down at all. I was fortunate because I had a reliable source for the old crates & I didn’t have to pay for them. Being able to profit off of an item that I got for free was an amazing business model, lol. Although Covid shut down my business, I still have the crate source & if I wanted to, I could sell them again.
@@lynnedelacy2841thank you! Vintage crates are a great way to display items at craft fairs. It seems like whenever I list any, I have a ton of interest for this very reason! :)
@@LannieLord - great question! I was still meeting some people outside in a parking lot, but not nearly as many as I was prior to Covid. The majority of my business, however, was helping people set up booths & markets, & that pretty much came to a halt. I also wasn’t able to build the shelving units, etc., I had been building in people’s homes. I was still selling some crates, but it didn’t sustain me full-time. I needed all of the aspects of the business to operate, in addition to crate sales, for it to support me full-time.
Well!!! Wow!!! And Wow!!! The pottery haul, Epic!!! The small garbage haul!!! Over the moon Basket with handles!!! Karen....you go girl!!! Do we love a good free garbage haul......Yes We Do!!!💞💞🙃💞💞
I like how you evaluate items for pick up. Glad you let go the pieces chipped and cracked. In glass I only pick up marked pieces preferably colored not flashed. Small clear cut crystal pieces are good. I pick up unique depression glass with well coated glaze....swung, footed or lidded. Marked glass figurines and novelties are a good consideration. I've picked up a lot of stuff put out on garbage day for resale too. Your front yard looks lovely.
I'm currently helping my 85 year-old mom pack and move to live near my brother. She has one of the hobbyist cats that my grandmother did and gave to her in the early 80's. She also has a life size German Sheppard that my grandmother did. He ear got broken not long after, so he is always wearing a hat. You scored on the pottery. I would of bought those glasses, I think. So unique.
Hi Karen. Today went to my local Orlando Fl local Goodwill and I came across a pottery mug. It’s beautiful! Very thin clay. And it’s a high made mug. Has a water color look with delicate flying bits. It’s gorgeous. When I saw it. I thought of you !! And it’s like oh yeah this was a keeper. I took pictures. Wish I could post pics here. Real cool find !! Thank you for your knowledge ❤️🙏🏼🦋

Summer season is actually Road Construction Season for sure! ⚠️ 🚧 The wood and wicker basket seems like a decorative piece of art to me. Such an interesting piece IMO anyway. Your front yard landscape is lovely. Really like the cozy corner for the two of you to sit in the front yard. I had ( I moved) a large white peony plant. When it bloomed I filled vases throughout my house with the flowers. Just love how they look and their fragrance.
Oh, beg to differ on those green glasses! Put those in the dishwasher and in the next to the last cycle, Add about 1/2 cup of vinegar! I had a well and the water would make my glasses look like that and I would do this to my glassware, but depending how long I would let it go before adding the vinegar, it might to 2 washings but I would clear my glassware everytime!
You passed a clear box full of sewing patterns. If they were vintage, they are very desirable by crafters who make junk journals or shadow boxes. I also saw a box of vintage lace that the same crafters use and is very desirable. I am not sure if you know about this. So I thought I would let you know. I am one of those crafters ❤. Other items would be buttons, vintage sewing notions, doilies, vintage slides. That’s all I can think of right now. Love your videos!!!! You and Roger are so kind. 🩷🩵
What's nice for you, shopping almost daily, you can enjoy all the pretty stuff, even if you don't purchase it, and become a Horder! For those who can't bare to sell or donate "family treasures", pick those that are truly irreplaceable, and take photos of those you love, but you keep stored in boxes anyway, and can't enjoy, and keep the photos in albums, and write notes about why each is special, then sell the objects, for others to enjoy, and do something with the money you've always wanted to do (perhaps a bucket list item). You will feel lighter, and your children won't have to go through an essential "Horder house" when you pass! It's easier said than done, but I'm trying to convince my husband to do it. Our 4 children are minimalists, and in my family, of 8 brothers and sisters, I'm the one who they all say, "give it to Lisa, she'll take it!". My mom has always made us beautiful gifts. She sews, quilts, paints, knits, crochets, needlepoints, does embroidery, and made all 6 girls wedding dresses, wedding cakes..... If I'm around when they have garage sales, and I see they set out something my mom made, I ask to buy it (they give it to me), because once my mom is gone (she's 86), we will NEVER be able to replace items she toiled with her own hands to make! To me, its family history! But, the rest, we need to get rid of; my grown children are not interested in over 95% of it!
Oh what a great video! Love your thrifting and garbage picking! your peonies are absolutely beautiful!! the rain beat my off just as they bloomed. 🤨 That you both, you guys look so happy together!
