    Great video! adventures in threadlock and all. I was sitting here actually talking to the screen "get a magnet! come on, Craig, go straight to the smart tools, man! get a magnet!" And then you did, and I felt totally vindicated. Good show, mate!
    And then I was genuinely chuckling when I saw you put the bumper on downside up, waiting for you to notice (hoping it would be sooner rather than later). Ahh, the finer moments in kit building, right? Makes me feel right at home, because I do stuff like this every time I build anything. Every. Single. Time.
    This is proper educational entertainment, right here. The quality of the kit shows in every move you make, and your commentary in support just seals the deal. If I were in the market for a kit like this, these build videos have made that choice easy. Though I would have to go with the 6x6, because as you talked yourself into getting one, you also talked your audience into it as well. I wonder how many of us are going to get one of these, largely as a result of your showcasing them?
    I see somebody else has tipped you to that Toyan nitro kit build. That V8 they have now is pretty amazing. There would definitely need to be some work on the lubrication system to ensure longevity, but in the meantime, coolness factor is through the roof. I'm a sucker for a V8. Even the non-american ones.

      Heh thank you!
      I've just spent the morning here breaking in a nitro engine, out of curiosity. It isn't for me, the whole nitro thing, but I get the appeal.
      Anyway, the BRX02 6x6 should be delivered by now so I'm off to go grab that and get building. Thanks for your thoughts on this video, I really enjoyed reading them :)

      @@RCTNT oooooooh... Nitro! I hope we'll see that here on the channel, if for no other reason than to satisfy audience curiosity. What kind of vehicle is this in? a 1/8 AWD class Nitro Buggy maybe? Or maybe a truggy? Short course truck? One of those wicked dragsters? The speculation is going to drive us mad! Mad, I say!
      I'm a fan of nitro, though I can see why it has such a limited appeal in the hobby crowd. As I mentioned in the past, I have a 1/10 AWD nitro buggy. It's a blast, when it runs. And when it's running, wow does it sound neat. That little .18 engine spins at up to 30,000RPM. The main downsides are it's really loud, it's really maintenance intensive, and very dirty. The fuel is just nasty. But it's just so *fast*. Really fast. Too fast. At least, too fast for a driver as unskilled and talentless as myself. But still fun! I really enjoy watching nitro competitions when I can.
      Can't wait to see that 6x6. I'm assuming it'll be a relatively brief overview of the build followed by a driving review? Maybe with a good look at the suspension? I'm really interested to see how they did the tandems, and how it stacks up to the TRX6. This is going to be great!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +1

      The 6x6 build will be exactly that, yep.
      Nitro is the Hpi vorza 4.6 big block. Broke it in yesterday, just gotta tune it today (lean it out for the most part) then I'll assemble a video.

    • @elduderinolebowski5411
      @elduderinolebowski5411 Год назад +1

      @@RCTNT Wow! while the truggy itself isn't THAT much bigger than my 1/10, that 4.6 engine is almost twice as big, and nearly three times as powerful. That's a lot of go in a not very big package. I can't wait to see it in action. Those 1/8 scale racers are a lot of fun.
      And do my eyes deceive me? does that have dual disc brakes? wow colour me jealous, mine only has one stock (there's an upgrade option for it to add the second one, but I never got my hands on the kit to add it). It may not seem like it, but there is a HUGE advantage to the dual brake over the single brake, in terms of handling tunability. Depending on how the centre diff is tuned (assuming it's adjustable), you can set the front and rear brakes separately to adjust braking balance. Very handy. And that's on top of the literally doubled stopping power that twin discs gives you.
      I'm impressed with the stock configuration on this thing. It's got independent shaft drive front and rear, dogbone and cup shafts at every corner, hypoid front and rear diff gears (they say spiral cut, but it looks hypoid to me), adjustable limited slip differentials, aluminum shock towers and chassis plate, adjustable turnbuckles, front and rear anti-sway bars, and a very wide envelope of adjustability for every possible geometry option. Wow this is loaded with features.
      My little 1/10 came with a lot of similar features, but a lot I had to add from their upgrade catalogue, too. It's really nice that this one comes with all of that right out of the box.
      This is going to be exciting!

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +1

      Yes to all the above. It's a super well rounded kit. Dual brakes and thumb turn adjustment for each, yep. She's a goer alright!

    Had this on while I worked and your thread lock adventure had me smiling. I'm glad you eventually used the magnet. I was thinking, man, Craig has a supply of those rare earth magnets he should use of one them 😂. Also, "or her" had me flashing back to Life of Brian. My wife also calls everything a him or her and she has me doing it now. This kit looks amazing too. The fit and finish looks A+. One other thing I learned working at the machine shop in college, the anodized surface of aluminum is non-conductive. I never knew that about CF, some good nuggets in this one

    I am really starting to feel like it is time for a Quality scale build. This could certainly be it. Being someone who works in a Machine Shop for almost 30 yrs? Quality and accurate fits are HUGE!! oh and btw .. The length of the screws are measured differently. The length of a "Round Head" is measured from under the head to the end of the thread. A "countersunk" or Flat head is measured over the full length. ;) Great build. ;)

    with the detail that's gone into the assembly, I'm almost going to suggest a toyan V8 nitro motor for this. They make a complete kit with engine chassis and body that is eerily similar in quality but with less assembly. There's a number of toyan assembly videos online, you should watch them, amazing bit of engineering those engines are.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +2

      I've nearly grabbed one of their kits since they released the latest/current version (V2 I think it is, right?). Just the standard 4 stroke kit. Lousy crawler of course, but way interesting! It's still on the 'maybe' list!
      Ed. okay, they've released a lot of new stuff since I last looked. Even a V8, blimey! The FS-L200 takes my eye but I'm going to have to look at the manual here. Gotta work out what's going on with that twin throttle body setup. The glow plugs look like they're constant, just like regular nitro engines, but I'm still not clear on the air intake... damnit now I'm looking at the FS-L400. Pretty nice!

      @@RCTNT I know right? probably not very powerful compared to some big single cylinder R/C nitro engines and way complex but daaaaaaaaaaamn what a bit of kit!
      The engineering is off the charts. And? electric remote start!

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 Год назад +1

      @@RCTNT My one concern with the engines though is the lack of constant lube on the valve train. Grease is fine but like all engines, it needs a constant flow of oil otherwise they'll burn up. I'd definitely be looking at adding an oil pump to circulate oil through the heads.
      I saw in one assembly video when putting together the rocker arms NO lube during assembly, just slather grease on the outside. Pretty much useless there. Maybe they "hope" it wicks in when it gets hot?
      It's a concern of mine because I am the (not so) proud owner of a ford 5.4L 32V and they are notorious for having lousy lube on the valve train. I had one where the cam lobe wore off due to lack of lube so it effect, that cylinder was a 2V and the rest were 3 making it a 31V not a 32V.

    • @RCTNT
      @RCTNT  Год назад +1

      Very much so, yes. I was also thinking how rough it'll run after whatever break in there might be. The oil in the fuel mix would supposedly keep things smooth, like a nitro or 2-stroke...The fine engineering is good and all, but I suspect they'll auto-cannibalise in a few short hours of running.
      Maybe we're wrong and it's fine at this scale, but gee, it looks like a minefield of heat and friction waiting to happen! Way cool, all the same.

    • @muskokamike127
      @muskokamike127 Год назад +1

      @@RCTNT I think the bottom end will be fine, it's running 15% nitro so that's 85% lube. It's the top end that worries me.
      I'm going to do some research, see if anyone has run one and for how long.

    When I was building my drift chassis, my Sakura D5 V2, I was recording the process. I don't remember what bit, I think it was the suspension I had to go back like three times, because I had installed it the other way around as what it was suppossed to. Some of it, even made me undo some steps. What should have been maybe 3-4h total, became an additional hour or two. Worst part is that I didn't have power tools back then, so it was a good workput for my pumps, at least! haha
