I'm not making a crown, but your techniques are going to help me make a couple other pieces for a costume. Thanks for sharing!! This turned out adorable!!
Thank you so much! I always love being able to learn and pass on new techniques, so it's awesome you can find more than one use from this Good luck in your costume building! :D
I am in absolute shock at how brilliant this is it seems so easy now I have over complicated this process in my head and frustrated myself many many times trying to make one of these and I didn't even think of the craft foam. Thank you so much for this video.
I just made this last night. It was pretty quick and easy. I didn't want to paint it, so I used black, gold, and red glitter foam for each piece accordingly. I am excited to wear it with my costume.
Love love love this! Just watching you work with craft foam showed me so many techniques I had never thought of! I personally would love to see more prop tutorials too!
LOVE THIS!!! When I saw the picture on fb I wasn't sure what you used to make it but would have NEVER though it was made of craft foam. Amazing job! Would love to see more videos like this!
This looks waaaayy better than the 1 Dollar Crown I wanted to buy and it is individual. I think I'm going to try this instead of buying the cheap plastic crown. Thanks😊 the crown is gorgeous😍
This looks awesome. I don't have craft foam but I'm going to see if I can get cardboard to work for me. This will look great with my Wonderland art tin that I made.
used your techniques to create my queen of hearts crown....super happy on how it came out.!!!..got tons of compliments on it, thanks for an awesome video.!!
Great tutorial! This was perfect for a last minute costume I'm making. I switched a few things up (used gold spray paint instead of black etc.) and it turned out amazing!
thank you sssooooooo much I have been all over, needing a prince crown for the top of a diaper cake. This is so perfect, I will tweak it a bit for blue & gold . BUT, u saved my butt for time.
this is an absolutely awsome video!!!! I will definetely try to make one :D I have one question!! How did you paint it black???? Did you use acrylic paint and a paintbrush?
This is a great tutorial! I'm making a queen of hearts costume and my friends are being the mad hatter, the with rabbit, and Alice so this helps a lot. I just have one question, how do you get the middle of the crown to stay down? I'm making mine right now and the foam keeps popping back up
Did you ever figure out an easy way? I'm on my third attempt right now and hoping to get it right this time. I used way too much hot glue on my last one trying to get it to stay in that shape
Thank you so much for this video! the look on this is amazing and I'm looking for something different than your standard plastic silver heart crown. I cannot wait to do this!!!
What a great idea! I have begun to create this! Hopefully in time for Halloween! I was wondering if you had any suggestions as to how to attach it to your head? Thanks for sharing!
This is incredible! Me and my friends are doing an "Alice in Wonderland" group thing for Halloween (Mad Hatter, March Hare, Alice, Cheshire Cat...) and this is perfect for my Queen of Hearts costume! I'm going to start making it today :) Thank you so much!
Thank you for your great tutorial. I've just made my version in gold glitter foam to go with my Queen of Hearts costume for Halloween, although its not as good as yours I am still pleased with it xx
Absolutely. I spray painted it black for the base But you'll still want to seal it if you have time - saves the foam from just absorbing all the paint ^^
HI!! i just want to know, where to buy mod podge?? help me plsss because tomorrow, we will make a crown for my mother/grandmother, english subject.....
Modge podge can be found at Walmart or craft stores like Michaels. If you can't find it regualr white Elmer's glue works just as well. The craft foam I bought from Dollarama but again can be found at the locations mentioned :)
I think it would - I quite liked the crown when it was blue, just wasn't the look I was going for :) And if you wanted shine you could still finish the crown with a clear coat
Hmmm I cannot remember how long it took....though I think the foam part only took 45min-1 hour and the painting was like 20min? The most tedious is just the modge podge/white glue step of layering to seal it :)
NsomniaksDream my FIRST time trying it took me a hours littered among 4 days. Keep it mind if the heart shape doesnt stick well add a little more glue and try to hold it longer
:3 Thank you. I modified the design a little and yes, cutting and pasting the foam is actually less time than sealing the foam, it took me about two hours letting the glue in the pieces to dry, and about thirty minutes to paint. Just sharing my experience for others with less experience.
What is the width of the thinner strips of craft foam that you used to layer onto the crown? I'm trying to make this one and I can't seem to get it just right.
ohh its amazing... i1m from germany and my english isn´t so good...so i don´t understand all of your words...maybe you can say what materials you used?
The pieces I believe were about 21cm in length each As for width I just used the width of my ruler as a guide. I don't really know how many pieces were used...I would guess around 10? :)
I made one for my schools up in coming production of Alice in wonderland but my foam was shorter and thiner so I had to glue then together but it turned out pretty similar and it will go great with the costume
Rexi Karl I found it easier to have different colour shades while making it to give me an idea for painting. But also because you have to seal the foam anyways and that would make it a milky white color even with black foam, so I'd have to spray paint it anyways
This is perfection! Most likely going to be using some of this quarantine time to start working on my Halloween costume for this year (I’m so tired of staying up until 2AM the week of finishing up)! I’ve won most creative the last three years and using this crown will help secure the win for the fourth year!🥳😍 Thank you for sharing!
I never would have guessed that this GORGEOUS creation was made with craft foam! I have a new appreciation for it now. NsomniaksDream, You ROCK!
Countess Rouge Haha I know, I've come to find a certain love for craft foam over the years! :D Ty!!
I'm not making a crown, but your techniques are going to help me make a couple other pieces for a costume. Thanks for sharing!! This turned out adorable!!

I will make sure to share when I'm done; I'm excited!!
NsomniaksDream lpllll

Fantastic! This is the best DIY rendition of this crown I've seen. Thank you ❤
LOVE THIS!!! When I saw the picture on fb I wasn't sure what you used to make it but would have NEVER though it was made of craft foam. Amazing job! Would love to see more videos like this!
Haha always amazing what a coat of paint can accomplish :D
This looks waaaayy better than the 1 Dollar Crown I wanted to buy and it is individual. I think I'm going to try this instead of buying the cheap plastic crown. Thanks😊 the crown is gorgeous😍
This is really cool I never would have guessed it was foam
You are the Dopest!!! was looking for a crown idea for my graduate but never thought about the $1 store crafts Wow!!!
OMG you're literally a genius I have everything at home already and it is so so simple ! Keep doing diy you're crazy talented and creative
This looks awesome. I don't have craft foam but I'm going to see if I can get cardboard to work for me. This will look great with my Wonderland art tin that I made.
You must have teflon fingertips. I would have never thought this was made from foam board. Very cute.
used your techniques to create my queen of hearts crown....super happy on how it came out.!!!..got tons of compliments on it, thanks for an awesome video.!!

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I LOVE Alice in Wonderland - it's timeless. I'm definitely making this for my granddaughter x
oh my lanta this is awesome. Its amazing what you can do with craft foam
this is a godsend omg. I'm playing the Queen of Hearts in a show atm and the crown they have is horrendous.
You should do more DIYs, your work is awesome.
That is SO cool!!
How much time did it take for you?
This is amazing! How long did you let each layer of Mod Podge dry before the next coat?
Can I also do this with Eva foam? It's about as thick as what you made with the craft foam so I won't have to layer right?
Love it!! gonna do it for my son's First Birthday ....Prince theme :)))
this is an absolutely awsome video!!!! I will definetely try to make one :D I have one question!! How did you paint it black???? Did you use acrylic paint and a paintbrush?
Spray paint!
I used way too much hot glue on my last one trying to get it to stay in that shape
do you think you can have a template for this? this is amazing ! I love how you made these.
Awesome! Thank you for this, I needed a crown for a tea party outfit for an upcoming anime con and this is perfect!
Brilliant! This was EXACTLY what I was wanting to go with my Queen of Hearts costume. You do amazing work, thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! So happy this helps! =D
This turned out really cool, it looks super cute!
Such an awesome tutorial! Just one question: can you use any kind of white school glue for the pre-painting base coating?
Yes, the brand does not matter at all ^_^
This is incredible! Me and my friends are doing an "Alice in Wonderland" group thing for Halloween (Mad Hatter, March Hare, Alice, Cheshire Cat...) and this is perfect for my Queen of Hearts costume! I'm going to start making it today :) Thank you so much!
You're welcome - I'm so happy it can help! :)
I absolutely loved this tutorial! Do you think you could do a tutorial for a 'swan princess' tiara/crown? Thanks for sharing!
I did it!! A little different but all thanks to your guidance. Thank you 😊 💓
This is phenomenal! Great tutorial!
This was fantastic. Thank you so much for this video. I found it quite easy and fun. I would love to send you a photo of my own interpretation of it.

This is so amazing and you make it look so easy 😂
wow Meg, sooo impressive! I wish I could do stuff like that!!
Thank you so much Isabelle
I bet you could - you're crazy talented girl!
Hi there I wanted to ask is mod podge and white glue needed to seal the foam? Can i skip this step and just spray paint? or is it necessary?
I made this crown and happy with the result! Thank you for such a great tutorial !!!!
this is so helpful for my perona cosplay!! thank you so much for making this video
What material did you use? sorry i'm Italian and I did not understand in the video...
OMG it looks BRILLIANTTTTTTTT
that is awesome i think i like this better than the orignal crown
This is amazing. I am absolutely speechless.
You are so crafty!! I love it! ^_^
Thank you!
Thank you for your great tutorial. I've just made my version in gold glitter foam to go with my Queen of Hearts costume for Halloween, although its not as good as yours I am still pleased with it xx
That's fantastic! I am so happy that this was helpful for you - the gold glitter foam sounds like an amazing idea. I'm sure it looked great :D
If I make this, can I spray paint the foam? I need it gold, will it work on foam?
Absolutely. I spray painted it black for the base
But you'll still want to seal it if you have time - saves the foam from just absorbing all the paint ^^
This is a beautiful work. I want to do a small one of this now... As a fanatic os Alice In Wonderland, I'm amazed with this work.
***** Thank you very much!
I think I could build Alice in Wonderland props all day
You are queen of crafting 0_0
Great job!, I love your tutorial, but i can't find modge podge in Mexico :(
Oh just use basic white school glue! It will work just as well :D
What were the exact measurements that you used to cut the foam strips from the beggining? Thank you..
they're in the description, if you didn't know. ^^
Would it still work okay if I used duct tape instead of spray painting the base black?
Andrinay Smith I would think so. You might have to be more careful applying the duct tape but it should work just fine :)
Thank you so much!!! I made a jumbo version and it looks super awesome!!
HI!! i just want to know, where to buy mod podge?? help me plsss because tomorrow, we will make a crown for my mother/grandmother, english subject.....
Modge podge can be found at Walmart or craft stores like Michaels. If you can't find it regualr white Elmer's glue works just as well.
The craft foam I bought from Dollarama but again can be found at the locations mentioned :)
NsomniaksDream my grandma works at mikals
I am the queen of hearts in a school play and this is amazing!
Wow! this is so awesome! :D
Do you think it would look okay if it wasn't painted? i.e. made with the foam colors of the finished piece (black base foam, red hearts, etc.)
I think it would - I quite liked the crown when it was blue, just wasn't the look I was going for :)
And if you wanted shine you could still finish the crown with a clear coat
NsomniaksDream Another question, how large is the finished crown? Do you have a photo wearing the crown?
OMG!!! This is so cute!!!!! I wonder how long did it took to make??? I'm totally doing this for halloween
Hmmm I cannot remember how long it took....though I think the foam part only took 45min-1 hour and the painting was like 20min?
The most tedious is just the modge podge/white glue step of layering to seal it :)

Wow!!! Just amazing!
Amazing! Very well done.
Very nice, super creative love it!
Omg that is the pretty crown ever like I watch today beacus I watch a video and I search how to make a crown
What is the width of the thinner strips of craft foam that you used to layer onto the crown? I'm trying to make this one and I can't seem to get it just right.
+Lauren Harris Brewster (Death's Cat) I kind of just eyed them when I did it but I would say they came to about half a centimeter? :)
Ah okay, thank you so much!
Very well done. Impressive. Good job..
ohh its amazing...
i1m from germany and my english isn´t so good...so i don´t understand all of your words...maybe you can say what materials you used?
+Ramona Dunse They're all in the description :)
Oh I'm sorry that I've overlooked
What are the exact measurements you used? Also, how many pieces of craft foam did you use? I loved this tutorial! :)
The pieces I believe were about 21cm in length each
As for width I just used the width of my ruler as a guide. I don't really know how many pieces were used...I would guess around 10? :)
I Just want to know, what is the purpose of MOD PODGE?? or The Elmers Glue ??
she explained it- but since the foam is porus, it will soak the paint in. also- it will strenghen the foam
Yes! Perfect! Totally going to be using this idea.
I made one for my schools up in coming production of Alice in wonderland but my foam was shorter and thiner so I had to glue then together but it turned out pretty similar and it will go great with the costume
I'm glad to hear that! I'm pretty jealous your school did an Alice in Wonderland production - we never did anything that cool! Haha :D
can you use a foam sheet?is it the same as craft foam?
Absolutely! Same foam :)
Very well done! love it! do you will do a queen makeup too?? :)
Absolutely! I've had my look drawn in my sketchbook for nearly a year now haha
omg this is the best DIY I found thank you!
And where to buy that Craft foam, ???
Why didn't you use black craft foam already than just spray painting it? It may have save you much time. Just wondering. ☺
Rexi Karl I found it easier to have different colour shades while making it to give me an idea for painting. But also because you have to seal the foam anyways and that would make it a milky white color even with black foam, so I'd have to spray paint it anyways
NsomniaksDream Oh I see. Alright. Thanks! ☺
Thank you so much this would be so helpful when making my daughter's queen of hearts costume for her pageant
could i make it using an old leather belt?
What were the exact measurements that you used ??
What measurements did you use?
I am so incredibly grateful for this. Thank you so much!
How long are the strips out of craft foam, I tryed to make a crown by myselfe but it is way bigger than yours :)
KleinesGretaleinxD They're about 21 cm in length :)
Thank you! This helped me make my last minute Queen of Hearts costume for Halloween
Ah! I'm so happy it could be of use to you!
I'm so making this for my daughter's queen of hearts costume!!! 😄
This is perfection! Most likely going to be using some of this quarantine time to start working on my Halloween costume for this year (I’m so tired of staying up until 2AM the week of finishing up)!
I’ve won most creative the last three years and using this crown will help secure the win for the fourth year!🥳😍
Thank you for sharing!
Omg it looks amazing!!!! I need to make one for myself
Can't wait to try this!
Can you try making a Queen of Hearts scepter?
I am being an Queen of Hearts/King of hearts inspired costume, and more I think about it this can work for him ^u^ and thanks for the magnet thing C:
