😲 Sounds awesome!!! Dear Vanessa, I'd love it if you did a nail clipping video in close up for all different sized dogs and different nail types. It's the one thing I really struggle with now, always having had giant breeds till my latest tiny rescue. Many Thanks for all the work you put in to educate us all 💖 💐
Thank you for posting this one. I have a Shichon that I have had to groom at home, due to a spinal injury. He is good, but grooming is very hard on him as he doesn't stand for long periods of time. I let him let on a towel on my bed and we just take our time. His ears and face are a bit of a struggle. I had to use the clippers, because he wiggles too much for scissors. This was a great visual to add onto that.
Porsha was so well behaved and I loved how she perked up when you said “want some treats? Want to go for car ride”? Thanks Vanessa for being such an amazing groomer and for explaining the grooming process

I started watching your channel because a found a yorkie mix on the side of the freeway. He really needed grooming, and he had no chip, we never found an owner. We tried to have him groomed by our very good local groomer, but they cut it short because he was so frightened . So, i watched your channel with him sitting in my lap, giving him treats, so he could get used to the sounds of clippers. After a couple of weeks, we went and hung out at the local shop, in the waiting area, just to get a treat and see that the groomers were not Satan. Last week, he got a full groom, and he looks great, and i am now addicted to watching dogs get groomed.
Wow, that was a very in-depth video! It made me realize you have to think A LOT while grooming (pull the skin here, push the ear there). You really cannot go into autopilot mode when you're grooming any animal, especially if they're not as cooperative as sweet Portia here! I would love to see a video on the blades you use and have a bit more information on them (what is a 10 blade, what do you use it for). I have no plan to groom animals, but I find the specifics very interesting! Thanks Vanessa!
To answer your blade question, a 10 blade is the shortest blade length that an animal can be fully shaved in (aside from what vets can do, I don’t know enough about that). It’s basically down to the skin and is considered the safest blade for sensitive areas. Sanitary trims, armpits and paw pad shaving are done in a 10 because it’s the safest with the least chance of catching the skin between the teeth though there’s always a risk involved. Sometimes paw pads can be done in a 30 which is even shorter. Dogs that are extremely matted on their body are usually done in a 10 as well because of how tight the mats are to the skin. Grooming is very complicated and honestly very stressful because there is always a chance of injury even with the most calm dog.
As the owner of two Shih Tzu's this really makes me appreciate my groomer even more than I already do! I will never attempt this myself, but it is fascinating to watch you do it!!!
What a sweet little dog. I very sadly lost my 15 year old Shih Tzu Daisy-May at Christmas and I still miss her so much I cry every time I think of her. Shih tzus are the most loving dogs, ever. My old baby shih tzu was also skinny in his senior years, but never under weight. He was such a sweet boy at the groomers. He died last year at 14 yrs old. He had those open/sore 'moles' that turned out to be cancer. Vet advised not to have chemo anymore because of his age. He passed away 4 months after his diagnosis. I miss him terribly.
I love how considerate you are of each dog's needs. Honestly, I love fur on a dog. I feel if you like bald dogs, get a chihuahua. Shame the owners can't be bothered with an occasional brushing.
You babysitting a dog while also grooming another reminds me of when my sister and I would have to spend a couple hours at my mom's work. We always wanted to come out front and bug everyone and she would have to tell us to go back in the back room. lol I also am finding it super interesting when you explain why you do different things on different animals. I thoroughly enjoyed not only watching you make “a new dog” out of Portia/Porsche, but listening to your excellent explanations of what you were doing and why. If I didn’t live in the Pacific Northwest in WA state…I’d love to have our fur baby groomed by you. You are an excellent groomer and also an excellent teacher! Thank you!
I adore the love and care you put into treating the cats and dogs in your salon! Well done! 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Any little old lady could only hope to be so well cared for.
PSA: Any moles that are changing or bothering your pet should be checked by a veterinarian for malignancy.
Love your work! Keep it up!❤
Yup the irritated mole on the shoulder looks bothersome
@@tibo6749COULD be she just scratches it too.
YOUR PROFESSIONALISM IS AWESOME.
YOU ARE THE BEST DOG GROOMER I HAVE EVER SEEN.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
I’m not usually a small dog person but she’s a real sweetheart. Love the end result of her do. Great job! She’s absolutely adorable.
I thought I wasn't either, until I got one. ❤
@@kathyflorcruz552 I’ve had all different sized dogs in my life and I prefer the large ones.
thanks Vanessa
I learned a lot of you grooming this little doggie. My Yorkshire Nylo is going to the groomer every 2 or 3 months but I am not always happy with the results
Thank you for your amazing video. Specially for giving advice for trainee groomer to not injured or stress as little possible their clients. Portia is adorable and so cute.
Aww, such a cutie, especially at the end when you were saying her favorite words!
She's such a good girl! Can't believe how much of an angel she is with the clippers right on her ear 😇
When dogs tremble it just breaks my heart. Poor little things. So glad Vanessa was able to turn her into a new dog.
15:32 Her face when she said "do you want to go home" 😭😭 lol 😂
Aw she’s too sweet. She even looks like an older lady haha.
We have three Shih Tzu and we get them groomed every 10 weeks. We get them groomed exactly like you did little Porsche. She looks adorable! ❤️
Your voice is very calming, your videos informative. Even though I don’t have a dog, I love watching your clients.
I love how considerate you are of each dog's needs. Honestly, I love fur on a dog. I feel if you like bald dogs, get a chihuahua. Shame the owners can't be bothered with an occasional brushing.
That's a rude assumption.
You babysitting a dog while also grooming another reminds me of when my sister and I would have to spend a couple hours at my mom's work. We always wanted to come out front and bug everyone and she would have to tell us to go back in the back room. lol
I also am finding it super interesting when you explain why you do different things on different animals. I don't even have animals that require much grooming but it's still interesting.
