    To be fair, the 500X can easily be pressed into two up, loaded up touring. Had to press mine into it unexpectedly a couple of years back, had my doubts even after we had set off, but 5 days and 1,000 miles later it had equipped itself admirably. So much so, the bike bike has been left at home several times more since. Back in the day, a CX500 was classed as a big bike!

    Had my CB500X for 7 years and was very happy with it. Could have done with about 10 hp more but that wouldn't make its A2 compliant. Anyhow, traded her in 2 months ago for a Honda NC750X DCT and so far so good. Even though is nearly 30kgs heavier than the CB is so much easier to ride with the low down weight. Been getting 80 mpg and thats not riding conservatively either.. it was either the honda or a CFmoto 700mt but the CFMOTO was a little too tall for me being 5f7"as i wanted to be flat footed with my daughter on the back. Am intrigued as you what you have bought. Maybe a Benelli TRK702?

    Interesting, I'm just about to pull the trigger on one, mainly for local commuting, runs out in the uk and a tour to europe once a year. I think it can cope with that. Thought about the Tracer 7 which will obviously give more power and will tour better, but when back in the uk I think its overkill then, so overall I think the cb will cope well. That fuel consumption is incredible and is on par with the adv 350 single, which I've also considered but not sure on going to Europe on it

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  4 месяца назад

      The 500x is an excellent all round workhorse, the tracer 7 engine is a peach but I think the 500x is more fun on country and mountain roads, is also better for commuting and uber reliable…..having said that, if I could afford both I’d have tracer as alternative 😊

    There is a possible consensus brewing around the NX500 for obvious reasons - so in addition to this I'm including the Transalp for two up stuff (but you'll miss the mpg) plus maybe the NC750 DCT (but you'll miss the all roads capabilities).

    Sorry to bother you but you seem to be the ideal person to help me. I'm new to biking only past my test in Feb this year on my Honda CB300R, I've done 4400 miles since and the little bike has been brilliant.
    I've just got a CB500 Hornet, same as your bike really, it's three months old with 1900 miles on the clock. It had its first service at 600 miles at the dealer. Love the bike, but I'm finding gear changes clunky, especially going into first and then up the gears to 3rd. The CB300R was silky smooth, is this just what the CB500 gearboxes are like?
    To me, it feels like the clutch is dragging, I know you generally get a clunk when going into first, but this seems a bit excessive. Seeing as you have had more or less the same bike for four years, I can’t think of a better person to ask.
    Any help would be very much appreciated..

    • @thecampingbiker791
      @thecampingbiker791  Месяц назад

      It’s no problem at all.. like you say sometimes there can be a clunk into first and that’s been same for 500X and NX500, but then the rest should be smooth, the bikes also have a slipper clutch so definitely shouldn’t be clunky.. I can even change up with clutch if I want to although I do use clutch most of the time! Could just need adjusting at lever arm but I’d pop back in and get them to look at it… definitely shouldn’t have clunky changes. Hope that’s helpful and let me know how you get on 👍🏻
