Oh man! I was looking for your video on this 3 weeks ago. I had just bought a Proart Studiobook and had some questions on doing the RAM and storage upgrades. Your videos had helped me build my first desktop and I knew your directions could get me through this process as well. I figured it out, but I am glad to see you have this up here now!
I personally wanted to thank you for this video. I had a laptop from 2009 and in February I indulged in the purchase of the Asus ProArt. And thanks to this video I was able to start upgrading it myself with 64 GB of DDR5 in Kingston Fury and add a second 2 TB Kingston Fury SSD, a 32 inch 4K screen also came to the rescue case and I coupled this with a Synology DS723Pro NAS with 4TB in Raid 1 for backing up my videos edits. Davinci Resolve and Filmora are now a delight to use on this kind of machine and they are not the only software that is comfortable. And all in complete silence. Thank you Best regards Valery / France / Alsace
Thank you so much for the video. I would appreciate it if the next video would show how to copy the operating system from M.2 to higher capacity M.2 on laptops, that would be very interesting.
1. DDR5 in current 13th Gen Intel can run - 2x16GB 5600MHz max - or - if modules are 2x32GB - then they need to go to 5200MHz. 2. I would HIGHLY recommend disconnecting the battery from the motherboard 3. This BIOS update seems a bit odd - can it be that W11 verifies the TPM2.0 and 'accepts' new drive (unformatted)? 4. Small tip - when removing screws if you really want to not mess screws - put small tissue (separate single sheet - thinniest - single tissue sheet) and place on top of screw - this fills minimal ultra small gaps, and it is less likely to damage the screw. That is also how to unscrew a screw that sits tightly.
I just upgraded my one from 2x16gb 5600htz to 2x64gb 5600htz and I was wondering why my new memories are running only at 5200htz. I've looked in all the specs, from Intel, asus and Kingston, and nowhere does it say that the memories will run downclocked at 2x32gb configuration. I was thinking it was some problem with the laptop's firmware. Thanks for the clarification. Intel or Asus should have made this information clearer, that way I wouldn't have wasted my money on a 5600htz kit and would have taken a cheaper 5200htz kit instead.
@@ZizoMassfor the slight price difference I would always go with the higher speed. You might be able to repurpose or an update might make it be able to utilize 5600. Better to future proof

Would love to know what you recommend currently. Do you have any limitations on what the motherboard can utilize? Samsung, Kingston? Crucial? I'm thinking of getting Crucial DDR5 ram and maybe matching the SSD, but I also like Samsung
Has anyone tried adding a single 8TB SSD to the spare M2 slot? Laptop spec says can handle max 2 x 4TB, but laptop I think predates release of 8TB modules. The drive I am considering is the Western Digital Black SN850X. It is double sided, but as this video shows, that should fit. These drives are heavily discounted right now for anyone looking to MAX OUT! Appreciate any feedback.
I added a crucial 5600 Mhz module that was specified as compatible for this model but I only get 4800 Mhz out of it (task manager) any ideas what could cause this issu? Thanks
Hello. I recently bought this very laptop you demonstrated after a long research period. But unfortunately my local distributor only brought in the 32GB version despite that I need more than that on a daily basis. So immediately I bought an expansion kit but Studiobook on the 303 BIOS only runs what I got, despite them being rated for 5600MTs, at 4800MTs. Any thoughts on why this might be? This being a laptop, there is obviously no XMP toggle in the BIOS. So I am stuck with slower speed memory - not that it makes too big a difference, but it is not nothing and I would like to use what I bought to its fullest like everybody else. I tried the 5600MTs 32GB dimm that came with it along with one of the 64GB kit's dimms and even then the device defaults to 4800MTs. Despite that both dimms being capable of 5600MTs, and despite that either dimms even have 2400MTs in their SPD. Crazy.

Fantastic informative video. I have the studiobook proart 16 ASUS H760 I7 1T Nvidia 3620has 16gb ram installed. It states I can upgrade ram and storage but can I take the 16gb out and put 2x 32gb. Also do I need to format my laptop or change anything . Does anything stay on the ram that is inserted? Also I have 1tb storage but want to upgrade further should I put a 4tb in aloud with the 1tb like you did in this video. Thanks in advance
For the ram you need to check if you have two slots which I think you do. Then you can use two 32gb ram but you need to check the specs allowed for your laptop. Asus will have that on their website. As for the storage you can add 4 tb no issues.
No, but it should have the same rank (two sided, one sided) also best if same timmings and 'default' speed - therefore if one is more OC-capable and other is not it may not work so well. Due to that reasons 2xpart kits are so popular - there is a bit more hassle to find same ram module. Of course it might be from different manufacturer.
My studiobook, like yours, says 2 of 4 slots used for my ram. Is that accurate? Because everywhere I keep looking, says that the studiobook can only support 2 ram sticks.
I had installed a new 2TB SSD quite some time ago - it worked fine until yesterday, where it didn't show up anymore. It also doesn't show up in the disk management tool. Any ideas?
Thank you! I followed your directions very closely! After installing the Ram my computer won't turn on. The three lights in front, positions 1 and 2 turned on, but the 3rd light is not turning on and my screen is not turning on. Since I tried powering the laptop back on I am afraid to open up my laptop to make sure that the Ram I just installed is seated properly. I have unplugged it hoping that once the battery is dead it will be safe to open it up again. :( Do you have any advice? Thank you!
Idk if this is still helpful, but what I found out is you really should unplug the battery connector before remove/install the ram/ssd (which he didn't do/show in the video). That solved my problem.
Anyone had issues with the second NVME slot?? I've got a pair of 4tb WD BLACK SN850X drives installed in my Studiobook and I'm having the second drive randomly disappear from the system until a full shutdown and reboot. Restart doesn't help once it's dropped off. Also damn this laptop runs hot AF! and has appalling battery life :(
I would normally say nice video, but if Asus has not solved the firmware brick issue (which you had to solve my that complicated nvme enclosure method), why are you promoting implicitly this laptop? why are you helping Asus sell a defective product?
I have bought this laptop after this drama, and my device has not had problems with any software updates. I believe they fixed it and stayed quiet about it
I've been living on your channel for the last 3 weeks. I'm trying to buy a new laptop and I am all set on this unit you love so much. PROART pro 16. One question I can't see to get answered by anyone at Asus or Nvidia is this. I have 4 options for the pro art pro 16 GPU wise. The NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 (8GB GDDR6) or the RTX 460 or of course the RTX 3000ADA. or the RTX A3000. Nvidia goes way over the top when it comes to being confusing. It is wearing me out. My question is this. Is the RTX 3000 ada which came out in 2023 be best of the others.. It will add 400 dollars to the price tag but no matter if it's going to be greater. I only video edit and photo edit. NO gaming at all. But even though the GeForce Cards are for gaming, most creator lap tops have GeForce cards. Please let me know. I edit 4K and up to 5.8K (which card would do me the best? ) Please help.
go with the 4070, unless you need the validated ADA 3000 drivers for 3d work, the 4070 is an amazing option for the cash. I'd argue the $400 extra for the ADA is not worth it for 99% of the people :)

A shame you cant get a version with more than 8gb vram
Anyone had issues with the second NVME slot??
I've got a pair of 4tb WD BLACK SN850X drives installed in my Studiobook and I'm having the second drive randomly disappear from the system until a full shutdown and reboot. Restart doesn't help once it's dropped off.
Also damn this laptop runs hot AF! and has appalling battery life :(
Don't you have lost the warranty doing this upgrade?
nope!
My RAM is 5200mhz but the computer is showing it running at 4800mhz. Can't find anything in the BIOS or other solutions.
Hey, do you know if the bugged update is still being pushed by windows. My laptop is coming tomorrow and im scared its gonna brick
Still no fix. Turn off all updates immeadialty. Still using mine I got 2 weeks ago like this 😑
@@andresluna351anything changed yet
I would normally say nice video, but if Asus has not solved the firmware brick issue (which you had to solve my that complicated nvme enclosure method), why are you promoting implicitly this laptop? why are you helping Asus sell a defective product?
I have bought this laptop after this drama, and my device has not had problems with any software updates. I believe they fixed it and stayed quiet about it
I'm buying the Asus pro art 4070 model today. 😂 Thanx, but no thanx.
@@voice2skull. ghetto! I got the RTX 3000, the Quadro Pro edition. love it! I got the 3 year Asus warranty extension. I recommend it.
what about voiding the warranty mate????
he'll make another video complaining about it later
ASUS doesn't void your warranty for opening the laptop for upgrades
you don't think that the Asus guarantee doesn't exist 😂
@@theTechNoticeOk now this is some progress. Very good. No 3d for me. Thank you very much for the bit of guidance. It's gold. By the way, I find your channel to be excellent. Learning so much. Yours is one of the best. Thanks again.
WTF!!! You have not disconnect the battery
You may want to take a look at CPU-Z, so you can show people the SPD timings and frequency difference between the stock RAM and the newly upgraded RAM.
My laptop has 4 ram slots and 4 SSD slots, not all the laptop you talk about
