Months late I know, but I just caught up with this one - that was me and my dad on Copse Meadow lake! Sorry to have crowded you out, but you did well to move. I blanked and my dad had two tench all day. We came back in June and tried Lodge Lake instead - big tench on the float all day. They have some lovely lakes at Newdigate, whatever species you fancy targeting.
Awesome to see you sharing your life passion with your girlfriend!!! And even better that she obviously enjoys fishing, but most likely, fishing with you!

perfect venue for kids they would love this we have somewhere similar and my niece loves it although her fav thing seems to be throw the maggots in and land the fish lol started her when she was 3 shes a natural

I have a idea for you if you want. You can put a strike indicator a few inches up from the end of you're rod just above the handle before the first eye. You can use a clothes pin out of wood or a weighted clip. All you do is create slack in the line with the clip and when a fish is starting to take it and swim slowly away it will let you know you're getting a fish plus when to set the hook. If you know this already sorry about that. God bless you both. Enjoy.

those frogs you found are pool frogs and they are fairly rare!
Ah no these are actually Marsh frogs! Introduced from Europe which I discovered are much louder that our rare native Pool frogs!

If I’m trying to set up a spod for a bait line, which is the best type of rod for hitting the high clip? I’ve tried using a fusion Boiley but have found that a single corn line can be more advantageous. Appreciate any feedback thanks.

Carl, I've noticed that you twitch the rod sometimes while float fishing, why do you do it because I am curious?
I'm probably either sinking the line, or just moving the bait a little to get the attention of the fish :)

European pool frog 🐸
Almost! The Northern pool frog is a different one which I read is actually native to the UK but very rare, and much quieter - the name of this loud kind is the European Marsh frog! :)
what rods where you using?

you should go fishing on hungerford canal i caught a 17 lb pike and a 5.9 lb perch on there in between the town bridge and the lock under the big tree. If i were you i would go on the weekend because it is usually less busy for some reason. If you need help fishing there just message me on RUclips i am always happy to help out.
How is the pond doing
Getting there! fixed a leak in fibreglass we found, so glad all is resolved and things are back on track! Will be out in a couple of weeks :)

Tench are actually my favourite species to catch! I mean, sure, I like a nice battle with a huge carp, but since many lakes over here in the Netherlands get stocked with carp bred in France, tench are somehow more "exciting" to me since they occur here naturally and lakes never get stocked with them. Also their irregular behaviour gives them a bit of a "mysterious" allure, if you ask me :) However, I'm not a snob, and my more generalist approach (braided helicopter rig with either 2 kernels of boiled feed corn or a fluoro red fake corn pop-up and 1 kernel of boiled feed corn combined with a light lead at the end) means that chances to catch either carp, tench or bream are pretty much even, and I'll be nearly as happy with a bream as I am with a tench or a carp, as long as I'm catching fish :)

I'm a carp fishermen but do love a tench session every now and then my son had a 7lb on his first trip. Hey definitely pull hard especially on lighter gear

@@kristianild2383 Exactly, I don't get the angry attitude some anglers get when they catch "undesirable" species (and I even think that concept in itself is rather stupid). It's all about catching fish for me. Sure, one can target particular species, but it's not at all necessary to treat other species you catch with anything but respect.
As a new fisherman myself, I enjoy watching Omi and her learning curve.

Nice vid, the frogs are marsh frogs they make a huge amount of noise! my wife is from dungeness which is where they were originally introduced and now found over most of the south east.
So loud! First time we've heard them. Yes read that they were first introduced in Kent!

Excellent vid Carl. Reminded me of how I got into fishing as a kid on a local farm pond that was stuffed full of Tench and Crucians. That was the beginning of my learning curve as a fisherman. I hope Omi enjoys hers just as much.☺

Love orfe, only ever caught 1 myself, also caught very shallow while feeding maggots. That seems to be the way forward for them, especially from spring to early autumn. Excellent and enjoyable as always Carl 🎣

I dont understand how the whole cuntry is full of these ponds, lakes, river, that you show for us. I cannot even see a fish in our rivers, cuz everyone uses net and overfish everything. I cannot iamgine how great this lake could be.

I’d love to hear what people here think Sunday I went my local fisherie as usual it was a wet rainy day but still warm wernt cold I managed to get the carp feeding on the surface in the rain and had 15 carp in a day session the best iv ever done numbers wise I thought like Carl and Alex do your own thing and not what everyone else is doing and it payed off big time I had surfaced fished there in suny dry weather and had a few but they where easily spooked for some reason in the rain they was just confidently taking from the top it was amazing
