What a breath of fresh air your channel is, Carl. Been carping for 20 yrs and watched many films on you tube. Recently found your channel and have been watching loads of your back catalogue. Love the locations, commentary, cinematography, music etc. your tutorial stuff is perfect for people just getting into the sport. Please keep doing what you’re doing, Carl. Your honesty about the pond build is absolutely what should happen, life isn’t straight forward and if the company can’t handle an honest appraisal, that’s their problem. Looking forward to your next film.❤️

I’m commenting from the US, where carp fishing unfortunately is not considered “worthy”. I couldn’t disagree more, and watching your channel brought back great memories of carp fishing (one time with my daughter I’ll never forget).
I’m 57yrs old now and thanks to you (and your brother) I’m back on the banks again carp-fishing for the big’ons with the same passion I had years ago!
    Keep em’ coming!!!
    Best-Joe

Yes it's a shame carp are seen as trash fish over there, but seems like more Americans are getting into it slowly :) It's so lovely to hear that the channel brings back some find memories for you and your daughter. Thanks for sharing that and I'm so pleased you're bank out there fishing again! Cheers Joe, tight lines! Carl

Good on you a Carl. You got it exactly spot on. Don't be bullied into saying what they want you to say if its untrue. It was a perfect opportunity for them to work with you to get it right & demonstrate what their workmanship, products & service where about. This wouldve got them more business in the long run. Stick to your principles it will serve you well & you will be able to look at yourself in the mirror & rest easy. Keep doing what your doing

as someone who a) was brought up fishing small rivers, b) fishes almost exclusively for river carp and c)likes to get away from the madding crowd, I would like to say thanks for this lovely video. For me it is not just about catching fish, it is also about fishing in beautiful places with interesting wildlife that I might be lucky enough to see.

Great video again, Carl. You're right, honesty is always the best policy. It's nice to be able to trust what you say about how you fished a lake or river, or how a certain project went. Sometimes things don't go smoothly, but real life documentation of the facts is just so much more interesting than the sanitised version. So many videos on RUclips make fishing look ridiculously easy as they edit it down to the catches only. We all know that it's not like that, and your videos are always true to life.

Carl I had a similar experience with my pond build. The builder got lots of work when I was posting on koi groups about the build but when I gave her a snagging list things turned very different. You were fortunate to get Matt to sort the fibreglassing; he's probably the best in the business. Of course you should speak the truth to prevent others being seriously disappointed when an expensive dream turns into stress.

    • @fishwithcarl
      @fishwithcarl  Год назад +1

I was sorry to hear you had issues too Suzy, hope you've made some progress. Yes that's how it felt, it did turn into stress but thankful all has been resolved by the help of some great tradesmen. Yes was very glad he was able to patch up the leak so well. Exactly. It's important to raise awareness as it's not ok to pay large quantities of money for a sub-par job which another company may've done very well for the same money. And not ok when it even costs more money to fix mistakes.

And you have done the right thing Carl, I stand behind you.
No company no matter the size or age should bully or pressure a customer into something that is false and then also have the audacity to charge more for it.
All companies should look at the mistakes that they make and ask themselves how can I correct this? How can I prevent this? And how can I change this?
And the fact that you even mentioned Korda and risked your sponsorship with them, in your last video, shows that you value us, your audience over what a company can provide you. So personally I would like to thank you Carl for being truthful and staying true to the person you are

I've been a fan of wide gape hooks in size 8 for a long time. I spent last year playing around with different lead arrangements and rigs and it was a slow year for catching fish. I'd had some luck with slip d rigs but got into a bit of a funk having struggled to put fish in the net.
Having watched several of your videos from the last few years recently I got the itch, and went out a few days ago. I've now broken a 6 month carp blank with my first winter carp in years, and it was a beautiful mid-double 2 tone mirror.

I lost my job before Christmas and I've been binge watching your videos which are fab and Matt Hayes and Mick Brown
Im planning to reignite my passion for fishing this summer after being away from the bank way way too long some 10 yrs probably since I last fished work and life got in the way
I hadn't realised that such large fish can be found in such small rivers
But I'm moving to Cumbria soon and I've already found a couple of nice ponds too fish keep up the great work

Honest is the best policy Carl. I was at the Coventry koi carp show at the beginning of the month with my sisters who's the 1 that keeps the koi and was talking to the team from Oase and your pond came up in conversation. Find the whole thing about the water filtration system interesting. Thought I might have seen you there and got a selfie with you lol and it was my birthday as well. Not going to say how old I was though. Brilliant video as always

Cracking vids. I agree with you about the honest thing. If something goes wrong people understand that… the company fixed it for you and that’s a positive for them. On a side note, some of the camera shots were amazing!!

I love the casual size 6 widegape hook, I live way up in Scotland and have very little coarse fishing available but what I do have access to a size 14 is a big hook even for the decent carp...

Great vid Carl. Small river Carp fishing is fantastic stuff. Catching in those conditions too was pretty good too. Just a thought, but in water that shallow and at such close quarters maybe trying to float fish for the Carp in holes in the lillies might be fun instead of using the alarms. Looking forward to seeing the new vids from you too. Tight lines, mate.☺🎣
