Presumptuous? They both had full Time jobs, they’ve been able to do a dream job and quit work. Fish with his soul mate he met while fishing? His dads retired and gets extra income while helping his son achieve greatness. Alex Is off round the world doing what he loves, not really presuming much when it’s all to see

I only just found your channel after 30 odd years of fishing and looking for inspiration for my 7yo son.
You rekindled the fire of why I originally started fishing...
No more just sitting in a bivvy waiting for the big carp. We're out fishing anywhere and everywhere just for the joy of fishing, big or small species.
    Thank you.

Love your definition of fishing - totally agree! Many's the time when I knew fine well I had no bait on the hook and just couldn't be bothered to sort it because I was just relaxing. And Omi has become a properly good angler, I get the feeling she has in turn taught you to relax and take the stress out of life. It's such a shame so many village ponds have disappeared, I cut my teeth on one in a village called Over, in Cambridgeshire. It was restricted to U14s only and held loads of small roach, rudd, tench and small carp. There were endless rumours of a 'big one' but to my knowledge no one ever caught it, and I'm not sure anyone had ever even seen it - it was always a mate of a mate of a mate's brothers, uncle's dad. We used to have loads of fun there as kids with just a quarter pint of maggots (about 25p back then I think, maybe less), and if we were really skint then in summer we'd raid our bins for properly juicy, if rather smelly maggots. I know, a bit grim, but we were kids and didn't care! Pretty sure the pond is still there, and I hope kids are still fishing it.

Would you ever like to go fishing in lithuania? I know you guys love travelling as most of your videos are about going to new places. The fishing in Lithuania is great and the weather is usually as good as the fishing, the reason being is because there's very little people living here so most lakes, rivers ect are wild and full of all kinds of fish, like chub, barbel grass carp, mirror carp, absolutely tons of perch and ect. If you ever decide to come here, we know a great place to stay, we will provide food and guidance on the lakes and rivers. Ask Alex as well as the wild life and mushrooms are much more plentiful than in England. You probably will not accept but please keep this in mind, as I think it would make a really fun video. keep making great videos, love ye chaps, cya ;)

Today I targeted a new lake. I was longing freshwater coarse fishing: bought a 4.5m telepole, 0.2 mono and maggots. Lately it's been all saltwater and I missed the finesse of the float. On our way I was shocked how swollen the local river was, so we took an hour detour and canoed in a flooded wheat field, the water levels after storm Hans still are +2m or more up! The forest lake turned out beautiful, it was a warm overcast august evening and my 4 yeard old son managed to catch his first roach and rudd! Then we canoed till sunset and I managed to land 2 pike out of 4 takes. During drive back it was a torrential downpour, which we survived and overall this has been a wonderful adventure. Fishing is the central motive of my life again, and I'm so glad it's so. I had abandoned fishing since my teens and this channel has been the axis of my fishtube. Thank you Carl.

Nice! Brings back memories. As a teen, outskirts of my town was a tiny old over grown clay pit. Accessible only down an overgrown track. Full of goldfish & shabunkins(!?), a handful of the old stock of carp, tench, perch, roach & rudd including dumped golden rudd. Some the mirror carp were absolute stunners! Dark hues & scaley...

Many yrs ago when I lived in Medford Oregon there was a field that had a fairly good size natural pond in the middle of it that was full of all kinds of goldfish, black moores, fantails, orandas, you name it, it was there. Found out that many yrs ago that area flooded and many local yard ponds washed out and the fish survived in this old field pond for many yrs. I would go and catch many for my fish pond at my house, and sold many ti the local pet shops in the area. I used nets and very small hooks to catch most of them. I never told anyone where or how I got them, but the property owner was cool with it and allowed my brother and myself to collect them, he also hated to see them lost out there as well...we also helped to restock his huge koi pond. Every visit the fish would come right out as they knew we came bearing food...fun times in those ole days. 🥰

Fantastic video Carl! It's always nice to get out and spend some quality time with your girlfriend. And I have to agree with you about your brother's cooking skills! His food looks like something out of a 5 star restaurant. And being able to have your dad help with packaging is a great retirement job for him. Cheers Carl

Totaly agree fishing village ponds is proper fishing not knowing exactly what is in there we all get to comfy fishing lakes that have been stocked with hundreds if not thousands of carp for us to catch! Shame these ponds are slowly disappearing!! I personally use google maps to look for these little unknown ponds as the buzz of not knowing whats in there and to what size is brilliant!! Keep up the good work carl! Any updates coming up of your pond?

Really nice little pond. I was surprised what you were able to pull out of it.

I know! Love these little unassuming places so much. A few years ago it was not doing good - lots of dead fish which was sad. We're so happy to see it healthy again.
