It all depends, if it’s a spur of the moment I always keep my fishing gear on me so I’ll catch my own. But if I’m planning to be out there I’ll buy my bait and just chill out there till it’s time to go
Yep he missed out there big time! Good sized little ones! I’ve caught 30+ inch snook on those little mojarras 💪🏾 I usually use artificial though it’s a lot more convenient
The whiting he caught was perfect live or for that size great cut bait for the surf this time of year! Been catching giants on whiting with my spinfisher 5500
I’m from the keys now living in Delaware they have different names for things but here it’s not a baitfish it’s actually a prized fish and they love fishing with sand fleas 21:37
I'm just getting into fishing (primarily pier fishing) and your videos really have given me confidence to just go out there and have fun! I used to get so intimidated going out and looking at everyone with their fancy setups and equipment but it turns out a lot of the guys out there are always so helpful and have such good vibes, like your videos! Keep on doing what you do :)
I just found you a few weeks ago and I must say, watching you on always cheers up my mood! I'm actually going fishing over the weekend on vacation and I'm gonna use some of your tips! Thank you man! Keep up these AMAZING vids! :)
A little tip when looking for sand fleas is feel for soft spots in the sand right by the water, the sand will be slightly easier to dig through, then use a net to scoop them up while digging
So sweet! You're one of the only big youtubers (that I have seen) which have fished so close to where I live lol. Funny how I just had dinner where you caught the mantis shrimp just last weekend! I went solo offshore over the weekend for the 1st time ever, and "hot" is an understatement. I had to come back in, less than 2 hours of fishing later, because I was worried about heat stroke. Hope to see you around the pier sometime
In the beginning when you threw back those two silver fish: Those were mojarras, or sand perch. Amazing snook bait, I caught my PB on a live one about the same size as the one you caught. Everything devours them but most people use the bigger ones for big snook. The ones I caught I used for big trout. It pained me to see you throw them back but now you know for next time you can use them as bait. That and you should try using an egg sinker with a carolina rig and cast at the beach or near the pier with live bait. Or you can try a popping cork too/float. I hope this paragraph helps but I just wanted to let you know for next time. Tight lines
Yeah bro same. I totally agree they do make awesome bait for snook and tarpon. I usually catch a few mixed in with pin fish when cast netting around docks. And they taste pretty good too if you catch the bigger ones.
I miss salt water fishing since I moved frome longisland new york to p.a I really enjoy your salt water videos make me miss home love to you and yours frome paul in p.a
Bro that is a REALLY nice Penn rig. I really wish I still lived in Florida because I miss saltwater fishing SO much. I was dumb and moved to Pittsburgh.
14:45 sand flea rake, rush the end of the wave and youll find em. A spot with a bunch will have birds and dead sand fleas everywhere on shore as well cheers 🍻
I highly recommend a baitrunner spinning reel by penn. I used to never believe in it thinking it was always easier to tighten the drag myself. Fishing on long island I would always mess up with a big striper on the hook and either tighten the drag too tight and snap or too loose and lose the fish. Especially fishing with a sliding sinker rig with a circle hook, its been super easy just reeling down and having the drag already set to where I want it.
Time to come fishing on the Baja California Pacific coast, Big yellow tale, Dorado, bluefin,Rooster fish, Big Jack's, Surf fishing for Barred Surf perch, halibut and corbina, the list goes on and on, great food, great people, paradise
Dude you’re the best fishing RUclipsr ever! You’re so funny and make great content! Every time you post I am so happy! Keep up the good work man! Your future’s bright!!🤩😀
For the sand fleas, they create a little V shape in the water as the wave is retreating. Usually there will be a bunch of them in one spot and you'll see the little ripple V shape where the wave ocean as it's going back
Mantis shrimp are known as Thumbsplitter shrimp in the aquarium industry because they will literally split your thumb. They've also been known to break the glass on glass aquariums. Very powerful little creature.
Where in Florida are you? If you're close enough I'd suggest heading down to Jupiter inlet and trying your luck there. The water is clear on incoming tides and it's loaded with fish.
I seen sea fleas in you camera shot. When the water receded watch for the holes in the sand with bubbles coming out and dig there right away or sometimes you can actually see them kicking sand out of that hole. That camera shot of you digging for them I could them digging right underneath you.
How about a video doing surf and/or pier fishing with bass gear. Out here in California a lot of guys use bass rods and baitcasters for inshore fishing.
Hey First State. Heading back old home for a visit next week. Any suggestions for fishing spots near Delaware beaches or a Indian River Inlet? Going to be “down the ocean hon.”
I live somewhere that there isn’t many spots but you inspired me to explore. I was going to give up fishing before I started watching you. And those last 4 years have been great ( and you got me to love creek fishing ) 🫡🎣
I hope you stick around a while longer, NE Florida's best fishing is about to happen. September - December will go off! You got my like for the mantis!
Do you normally catch your own bait or buy it at the shop? 🤔🎣 Or if you use lures do you make your own or buy them?
5k likes let a mutant shrimp punch you

I love you vids man
You made me love fishing
I buy my live bait and make my own
@firststatefishing I think people eat them raw with wasabi and soya sauce
Those little baitfish you caught early on are called Mojarra (moo-hara). They are great bait, bigger ones are good for snook.
The really big ones are also delicious deep fried.
Yep he missed out there big time! Good sized little ones! I’ve caught 30+ inch snook on those little mojarras 💪🏾 I usually use artificial though it’s a lot more convenient

Was gonna bring this up but glad to see you already have him covered! Mojarra are top tier for some mangrove snappers too!

Bring me on ur fishing vacation lol
The little fish good bait. Leave it on and recast. Good fishing when tide comes in. Relaxing to watch and hear the waves. Thank you ✌️✌️✌️😘😘😘😂😂😂

If you want sand fleas get a sand flea rake. they work really well.

@@ezekielcapps7155 to be fair I caught more trout on pinfish than mojarras, whereas I caught more snook on mojarras than pinfish

I been trying to figure out what pier that is?!
@@bray3345 I’m 98% sure it’s north Florida but I’m not positive

The sad Titanic flute 🤣
I'm so glad your channel is doing so well bro.
What happened to your foot? Great vid big fan btw
I highly recommend watching My Friend Steve's videos. He fishes all around Florida, mainly the Keys. "Key West Kayak Fishing"
I go to that pier all the time and have been wanting to meet
I love your videos I’ve seen you outside of j&m tackle
Mantis shrimps are very good. Cook it in garlic butter sauce

The part with the dead shrimp killed me😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
i love your vids and i live here myself in jax, but i was just wondering do you get your bait from bnm?
Those bait you threw back we're Mojarras they are really good bait!
Those fish you caught in the net looked like some species Mojarra, depending on where you are you are likely able to keep them
When the waves come up and you see the sand bubbling, dig there, that's a sand flea bubble.
Mantis shrim are awesome. I have a pet peacock mantis shrimp named Punchy.
Big bull red season is right around the corner here in DUUUVAL
Is this dania beach Pier im from Illinois but was down there for two months earlier in the year
Just talkin about my shrimp 😂
Those were pinfish lol, perfect bait
Cut those Whiting up for cut bait! Great bait for reds
Great vid keep it up
Surf sinker with the metal wires will hold you in one spot. Steel leader 2 hook set up. Wade out almost arm pit deep and send it.
one of these days dude I'm going to see u fishing one of my spots in Jax I'll show u my "secret" bait lol
Just liked and subscribed my dude
"Seagle catch and cook" lmao
at first I was gonna cry, thought you were using hermit crabs 🤔 but they're not really deadly are they lol
Dade county

Bro you at the marina in jax I’m there catching bait literally all the time most of the fish are gonna be on the other side of that lil park
Cast netted a snook near that lil dock hella action there

Is that Arlington marina or palm cove Marina?
I’ve been to that pier several times I love to go to Saint andrews and surf fish
Mantis shrimp are delicious and expensive if you can get them.

No boot? That’s good
How do u tell when you get a bite at a rough beach
What
Catch bait and lures yes ny fam makes them.
they can chip bones but cant escape a plastic bait bucket?
Could you tell me what fishing rod you use in this video? please
not first 😭. sorry to let you down fs 😭
Here’s 3000🤤👍
You should use fish eggs or caviar for bait. That would be interesting
Up here in PA that's the most popular way to catch steelhead during fall and winter.
Lucky winner?
Gimme proof your first state. Replie on your main account
Hol up why does it say five replies yet there is only for
Wat kind of rod is that
Is This Jacksonville Beach pier it looks like it
New to the channel, don’t wanna intrude but what’s with the boot?
just using sabiki rig u can get some small fish for bait
Gotta get more spin on that net. The faster it spins, the open it will be.
you could have sold the mantis shrimp for like 120$
