This would be nice for shooting an eclipse, or maybe sun spots. I can't see much use beyond that. The last time we had an eclipse, I rigged up my own filter. I got a piece of cardboard to block most of the lens. I cut a hole in the middle and taped a set of $1 eclipse glasses over the hole. I aimed it at the sun and got some really great shots! It worked way better than I expected to be honest.
Wow Impressive images, way different results than what I was expecting- I have one of these filters but I’m afraid to try it - don’t want to burn sensor
Hello Nando, good afternoon, my name is Hugo, I am from Argentina, yesterday I was testing the Haida X edition 20-step filter, the truth is spectacular. I consult the photo that appears at minute 4.04 of videp, how did you make the clouds look so good? I took several pictures with my dear old D700 but the best I did was with ISO 800 to see some clouds. For the clouds to appear in the development, did you raise the exposure? Well, if you can tell me a little, greetings thanks
Hi Hugo, The image is the result of two exposures. One for the sun, and one for the clouds. But I also used the dynamic range of my camera to lighten the darkest parts in the image. It also depends on the thickness of the clouds. Thicker clouds can dim the brightness of the sun enough to see some clouds.
I saw your review very well. I have a question. I wonder if the material of the Haida One Million X Edition filter you used is plastic or glass. How much does it weigh?

Mine arrives this week. Just ordered it for the eclipse in April. Hopefully it wont be cloudy (but it will be lol)
Good luck. Drive to a place where a clear sky is predicted.

Good question. It is said to be made of K9 optical glass
