    It's not meant to replace the F-14. That jet was already out of service long before the navy declared IOC for the F-35.

    The Airforce does not want to differentiate between a high speed fighter and a close air support system. The A10-Thunderbolt is a proven platform for close air support, but it is getting dated...it's time to build a replacement for the A10 without losing the current system's advantages.
    Speed is the only thing the Airforce has on its mind but that is saddly at the expense of ground troops.

      Hahahaha, helicopters are sitting ducks in general and require close air support themselves. The beauty of A10s is that they do take a licking and keep on ticking. It is typically hard to completely disable an A10 immediately. The triple redundancy in flight controls let them limp home more times than not.

If the F35 is suppost to be so advanced what about the new NGAD or the dark star or the new FX plain for the navy that supposed to replace the F18 supper Hornert. You can't replace the Thunderbolt it is to detriment in supporting ground forces, cause know other plain can go that slow without stalling while delivering munitions to support ground troops

    It is interesting to note that VERY little solid fact is disclosed about the latest updates, and nothing said about the ongoing delay situation as to the actual implementation of the Block 4 release.
    This is very disappointing. It also does not mention the halting of actual production - why would they build new (but obsolete) planes that can't be upgraded? Not discussed.
    The the BIG elephant in the room! Will the Block 4 release allow future F-35s to mount the NATO Meteor missile? No-one seems willing to commit to a definite yea or nay! Why is this? The Meteor is clearly superior to even the very latest AMRAAM missiles, and the F-35s of NATO allies cannot use Meteor! All of the NATO allies have planes that can mount Meteor (Typhoon, Rafale, JAS39 Gripen), but not F-35! It's little wonder then that NATO allies (like the Royal Navy) are very reluctant to buy further F-35s (except for use in roles not requiring long range air-to-air interception).
    Why no info?

  • @johnpaulbacon8320
    @johnpaulbacon8320 12 дней назад

    Yes even I understand it's difficult to replace multiple planes - in this case ; with just one but for what the F-35's ( A-B-CM ) do it's an amazing feat. The newer Gen-5 or later planes can ber used in a conventional mission in addition to their stealth mission. I feel that the F-35 and F-22 wouldn't be at that much more of a disadvantage if used with external mounted weapons for a greater capability. You have the " stealth " configured planes go ahead of the not-so stealth configured planes.

    You can throw all the money you want into the flying duck 🦆 F-35 and it will fall short of a true fighter that will dominate a battle space.
    Each modern battle space entails distinct set of challenges requiring specific capabilities (physics as well as environmental) for specific set of missions and requirements.
    The F-35 is adequate for a less than “near peers” missions. However, the F-35 against a “near peer” adversaries will be inadequate when pitch against many different “specific” set of “challenges” will be far less than adequate for its mission.
    All the modifications and enhancements cannot overcome shortcomings for missions it is physically incapable to overcome. An analogy an 80-ton MBT will become mired in a swamp. This is a simple illustration, but a good description of aerodynamics and physics in a modern-day combat.
    Whereas a well combined balanced of capabilities assortments of aircrafts can and will provide capabilities to a successful mission. The continuation of a flawed strategic planning will only engender a colossal and devastating loss in the ever-changing and shifting amorphous future battlefield environments.
    This is my amateurish assessment and having no knowledge of what an actual battlefield and the evolution of future political and military threats and coalition(s). My humble opinion.
