  • In this video I share how to photograph sunrises using ND filters. Sunrises are beautiful to capture, but sometimes you might want to add a little extra magic to help give your images that extra punch. Using ND filters helps enrich colours, smooth out water, create cloud trails and more. It doesn't matter what brand camera you're using, you'll be able to apply all these techniques to your photography.
    Gear I used in this video:

    How about that sky that morning! Was so lucky to get that burn twice. Makes getting out of bed early all worth it 🌅📸🙏

      It was certainly spectacular. I do love a good sky. It's a moment in time that is always unique and never repeated so I always enjoy bearing witness to it from my perspective, knowing that no one else in history will ever see what I just saw. Unless I'm photographing it of course, lol

    Mate, those high scattered clouds with the breaks in between is such a great recipe for that explosion of color that you got in these images. We are lucky to be able to get the same quite often here. The trick is just getting out there! Great tips here for anyone looking to capture amazing sunrise long exposures. Absolutely amazing images Adrian! Really enjoyed it! Hope all is well with you! Have a great week down there!

    Great work, Adrian! I loved every image and the time-lapse too. We are about to leave for Universal Studios Orlando. I'm taking the R7 and some wide, slow, small, and light lenses to the park with some filters. I'm hoping to do long exposure photography there and maybe even some infrared. See ya next week!

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  2 года назад +1

      Thanks Phil. I went to both Universals when I was in the states. I thought I liked Orlando better. I stayed right across the road from it at I think was a Howard Johnson (???) hotel. Hard Rock cafe was out the front. I could hear the shows every night. Look forward to seeing your videos from there and seeing how much it has changed. Florida was awesome in that spot. Surrounded by a heap of Disneylands, had the Cape to check out the Space Shuttle and of course I even got a tornado when there. Enjoy 📸🙏

    Great tips, I have not used ND filters at sunrise thinking it would be too dark. I will be trying that in the near future. Thank you Adrian, always enjoy your content.

    Hey
    Great sunrise shots! One day I will get myself out of bed for sunrise.
    Quick question. When you say expose for the brighter part of the frame to get your exposure settings, do you use matrix or spot metering to do that?
    Cheers Chris

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching Chris. For accuracy you can use spot metering on the brightest section and get a reading. If you’re using matrix you’d have to tilt up to the sky get a reading then reframe. 🤙🙏

    Thanks for the video, mother nature was on your side that morning, what we all wakeup early for.... Why not bracket your long exposures to assure no blown highlights?

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  2 года назад

      Thanks for watching. Bracket a long exposure is practically useless as by the time you’ve bracketed the light will have changed making it a waste of valuable time.

    How do you know how many seconds to shoot the scene with, Adrian?

    • @adrianalfordphotography
      @adrianalfordphotography  2 года назад +1

      I either use the calculation card you get with Haida filters kit and there are free apps you can download. If you watched the video I suggested at the end, it would show you that
