Haha, fast car...but the guy was Hella nervous from the beginning, that shaking feeling you get right before you do something stupid on a fast car. I know that feeling...
Obed M. Dude you’re so right. I’ve seen guys do reverse entires on the street at 90mph and even they still get out the car psychically shaking lol. It’s literally the best part about driving.
I've been around the internet a few times and this is hands down one of my favorite cars of all time. Not just 240's in general, but your car, specifically. Auto manufacturers could learn a lot from builds like this. Japanese muscle looks like serious fun, and that sound... man what a growl! Thanks for the inspiration, my brother.
Alu V8 is around the same mass as the Iron blocked/aluminum headed 4-cylinder. maybe a tickle more. still. 100lbs isn't something one can't overcome with a bit of suspension. Great chassis, Sounds like a decent little motor. Nice ride.
I miss my '90 Q45. It hauled ass and ran so smooth. I junked it for $300 bucks. It was a must. I was in high school and i had plans for it after I graduated.
Beautifully built car. I've been a long time LSx American Muscle fan, and I honest-to-God used to hate tuner cars and engine swapped 240's, but your car is gorgeous and I'm happy to say I've made the switch! Gorgeous car!
Love it. I cant understand the haters or the idea of putting an LS in one. The VH45 is all Aluminum so pretty light weight. The VH45DE makes 310 hp and 330 LB FT all by itself plus a redline of 6900 RPMs so its great all by itself. Put a super charger on it and I am sure the numbers jump another 100. In a car that weights less then 3K. I like the LS motors but not a fan of putting it in a import. Plus they are putting LS motors in everything!! Be different not a sheep. Great car.
+sirreal ism LS is much smaller, simpler, and I'm pretty sure its also lighter than the VH. Not too mention the have an huge aftermarket and are very easy to make big power while not breaking. When you can make a turbocharged 600 hp 5.3ls out of a chevy truck for under $5000 (hotrod and superchevy both did articles on this). The cost and work it would take to put a VH in the same ballpark as a forced induction LS would be alot. Its pretty hard to argue why you shouldn't put an LS in anything, thus why thousands are doing it. BUT, I do agree with you in the sense that everybody is doing it and it is wicked to be able to say you have a nissan v8 in your nissan! Unlike every other tom, dick, and harry who went the direction of the LS swap. I see both sides of the argument, In the end it all comes down to ease of swap and your budget.
Can't tell someone to be different and call them a sheep for thier preference tho...the LS series is the lightest and easy to modify engines out there etc.
sirreal ism yeah but the ls1 makes about 350 hp and 360 lb ft bone stock and choked, and will make over 400 with bolt ons and probably makes what this blown vh45 makes cam only if not more, it’s a dope swap but you can’t knock the ls swap, everyone does it for a reason, it’s the way to go, and btw, my ls1 can spin 7k too (although I shift around 6600) and would love the rpm all the more if I cammed it lol
@@DickVanNiggz vh will get 430+ on 7 psi ,it just doesnt have alot of after market support ,the internals are good for 850 hp but the oil system is the downfall
V8s are meant for wherever a lot of power is needed in a small space, and reliably so. That's why they're such popular swaps: they sound nice, are relatively compact, and can fit in lightweight British and Japanese roadsters and coupes for amazing power to weight ratios.
In all seriousness, just how hard a swap is this? I can buy a sweet looking 240sx with a good motor, but it has a bad automatic. I was thinking an old school 350 built to just 400HP with a 5 speed from a Camaro, but I truly enjoy the sound of the Ford 5.0 and a mild cam. It wouldn't be a drag or drug car, but a fun toy that sounds like someone opened the gates of Hell and released a beast upon man. LOL! Any info would help, and great sounding car bro!
I love this sound! I here the Chevy LS swap is pretty easy to do in these. They even make swap kits for em now. Big question... How do u get it to sound like this car in the vid. (I also love that ford mustang V8 sound)
a cast iron ls block only weighs 80 pounds more than the aluminum block, but cast iron doesnt allow the heads to lift when boosted. 5.3 cast iron blocks can be bored out to 5.7L, which is a IRON BULLET PROOF LS1 that only weighs 75 poulds more. 75 lbs means nothing to 450whp
ROFL let me guess you watched an engineering explained? Gawd if bushes wear, replace them thats what they're there for. With a car making decent power the last thing you have to worry about is some bush wearing because you left your hand on the lever between shifts lol. Accelerating at full throttle and or high revs also causes premature engine wear btw.
not an asshat. you aren't weaving through traffic or anything. great sound, sounds like a ton of fun to drive. i would arrive at any location with a smile if i was driving that.
Great build. I don't undestand how people are upset about this, Ls swaps are very common in these. There is a company that makes a kit with everything you need for an easy swap. There are also a few S2000 with v8s in them, v8 swaos are becoming more common. I would love to have one of these.
i gotta say, at first i didn't like the idea of V8 on it but change my mind at he end. i'm a fan of 4Banger and i like what you have done with the car. love the sound and like the acceleration .. nice job mate.
Hey, very impressed with your car. I love the uniqueness. I am building my own 240 and I was wondering what differential you're using. If it was mentioned earlier in the comments sorry.
My comment started out serious and then tapered off into borderline sarcasm, but at its root was a legitimate inquiry. I appreciate the explanation and also your advice
Ha! I know where that On ramp is! It's right by University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center! I make office furniture deliveries there all the time LOL! I love the sound of the 1uz being put through its paces!
Very nice car. He put the extra gauges somewhere respectable not on the steering column or somewhere stupid. And that shifter OMG the throw is all wrist. Again very nice car.
q45 is just a model from Infiniti, it was their full size luxury sedan with the VH45DE V8 engine. 300ZX is a sports car offerend by nissan through the 80's and 90's, with a twin turbo model. A 240sx is a model offered by nissan as well.
This is sick, I'm getting a q45 soon and to keep the insurance down swap a 300zxtranny in and hopefully supercharge it. Do only the turbo transmissions work with the q45 motor?
240sx, 300zx, and Q45s are all models of cars made by Nissan. VH45DE is the type of engine swapped from the Q45. They were made with those "numbered" names.
I used to sell them at electrodyne as they imported them. You can find a horn button for it probably at pelicanparts or other porsche and vw bulletin boards.
What kind of camera are you using to film. When I put my gopro on the sunroof inside like that it smashed the video and makes it look too wide. I like how this looks.
well, if you like the sound of your engine and if your doing it right there is nothing bad about doing that in all day driving. the problem is that with most manufactured cars, you can't keep the brake while giving gas cause the gas pedal is often lower so most people let off the brake to give some gas. what is bad is compressing w/o giving gas before downshifting. its hard both on the clutch and the engine, especially with those big blocks
It’s the shaking feeling after you’ve done something stupid in a fast car that lets you know you’re alive 😂💯
1:14 - just had an eargasm. Who ever says a V8 doesn't belong in a 240sx obviously doesn't know the immense joy a V8 can bring to a human being.
I'm not usually V8 man but this thing is wicked.
+Prime Aestheticx what are you a v6 guy?
Clock Work 4 banger w/turbo ;)
+Prime Aestheticx i6 thoo

1:13 V-TEC Kicked in yo!
Lars E-rod kicked in lol
hahahahha
Cool camera angle. Car sounds pretty amazing too.
So clean. Would love having a setup like this in a Z32
That sounds beautiful
Awesome to see a nissan v8 going into a nissan! I don't hate the idea of a v8 in a Silvia but its cool to see another take on it.
probably one of my favorite videos on RUclips. I always come watch this now and again.
It’s amazing how a 240SX keeps its lightweight and balanced properties if this swap is done properly
Alu V8 is around the same mass as the Iron blocked/aluminum headed 4-cylinder.
maybe a tickle more. still.
100lbs isn't something one can't overcome with a bit of suspension.

If you gonna v8 swap a JDM, you might aswell put a Japanese V8 in it, bonus points from same carmake (infinity = nissan)
DevasionX yep (y) just fyi though it's infiniti
Slash! Tech yes sorry Infiniti, bad habit to spell infinity
DevasionX that is pretty cool, even more bonus points for sticking with the same make.
+majong12 The 3UR in a Supra would be cool too.
+DevasionX Ls1 is like the k20 of the v8s
The sickest part is that he kept it within the Nissan family..
SO HARD!!!!
veryyy nice swap.
Brian from The Fast and The Furious?!
Haha
OnyxStudios720p It's crazy. Because I said this comment a day before he died. ):
SirRockoRARE:O
SirRockoRARE what did you do..... *squint eyed look*
SirRockoRARE I bet you've been behind his death all along... JK hahaha
Badass ride man! It's gotta feel great to have a supercharged v8 with a 5 speed in a car like that.
holy shit this car runs real smooth. very nice
Damn is nobody gonna talk about his clean shifts? Haha
lol 1:37 "cop check"

The ls engines are pretty light too, I don't really know which one I would put in. I guess it would depend on my budget.
+sirreal ism LS is much smaller, simpler, and I'm pretty sure its also lighter than the VH. Not too mention the have an huge aftermarket and are very easy to make big power while not breaking. R.I.P Brian :(
I don't know much about the 240sx's I just started learning about them since my friend told me he bought one. They're sweet!
Haha I live in kendall! I know exactly where that's at.
You put together the ultimate combination there my friend.
In all seriousness, just how hard a swap is this? I can buy a sweet looking 240sx with a good motor, but it has a bad automatic. +John Rabaste' You can't make a LS sound like a VH because LS' engines are pushrod engines while VH's are DOHC and *that* is the difference in sound.
I remember seeing this car at a drift event a few years back. Such a beast
a cast iron ls block only weighs 80 pounds more than the aluminum block, but cast iron doesnt allow the heads to lift when boosted. 5.3 cast iron blocks can be bored out to 5.7L, which is a IRON BULLET PROOF LS1 that only weighs 75 poulds more. 75 lbs means nothing to 450whp
I've followed this build since it had an SR.Car is very well put together.
Did I just have sex? Great car made better. Great work!
He ain't scared to be different. Sick car man
I dislike the cars with stickers. Pointless
joey gutierrez lolol
Sports are pointless
sergsrt8 I do drive
joey gutierrez lol why is it pointless? I play hockey. the stickers (illest) a clothing brand on a car? it obstructs view quite a bit.
TheNorthernSniper it doesn't obstruct his view because he's going sideways all day so it doesn't matter at all ..its a drift/street car.
Sounds beautiful. I bet that makes your day every time you set on the throttle. Good job man.
don't drive with you hand on the shifter all the time bro but cool car none the less
Why do u suggest that? I do that all the time. Nit sure if it is bad...
Will do damage to shifter bushings and can cause premature wear to gearbox internals
Brian Wynn I do leave my hand on the shifter too, but yes you are right you shouldn't it's a bad habit.
ROFL let me guess you watched an engineering explained? Gawd if bushes wear, replace them thats what they're there for. With a car making decent power the last thing you have to worry about is some bush wearing because you left your hand on the lever between shifts lol. Truth. Plus it's not the best way to control your car at high speeds. The shifter is always in the same place. You'll find it when you need to shift.
not an asshat. you aren't weaving through traffic or anything. great sound, sounds like a ton of fun to drive. i would arrive at any location with a smile if i was driving that.

Me too. U know how to get an LS1 to sound like this though?
John Rabaste' Not a clue lol the right header and exhaust combo. It sounds amazing
+AJ VanGorden It's not an LS it's a VH45DE made by Infinity (Nissan) :)
i gotta say, at first i didn't like the idea of V8 on it but change my mind at he end. i'm a fan of 4Banger and i like what you have done with the car.
love the sound and like the acceleration .. nice job mate.
I liked the placement of the camera. It felt more like being in the car.
This is probably the most reliable v8 on the street lol
basically the double unicorn build from Mighty Car mods, except super charged rwd instead of turbo awd and in a 240 instead of a Stagea!!! LOVE IT.
greenified22 s9...nothing like it at all... literally the only dimilarity is that its a v8 swap FI
Love the sound of the import V8's, especially the VH when you blip it to rev match! Job well done sir, well done indeed.
Hey, very impressed with your car. I love the uniqueness. I am building my own 240 and I was wondering what differential you're using. If it was mentioned earlier in the comments sorry.
car sounds great love the downshifts sweet 240 and sweet illest stickers you should make a video and show us the engine and outside of the car
I love how short the throw goes
super cool... i picked it up years ago at a swap meet for 50 bucks. thanks for the heads up.
My comment started out serious and then tapered off into borderline sarcasm, but at its root was a legitimate inquiry. I appreciate the explanation and also your advice
To each his own. I think he did a great job.
Its good to see that you didnt go the usual route that people do by chucking in a GM V8.. Very nice!!
I just realized that you've had this car for over 5 years. nice man haha
That sounds so cool and loving those downshifts!
that thing pulls nice, love the linear powerband for super fun daily driving
that thing gets down and boogies. I like it!
i get the biggest smile when watching this!
the best v8 S chassis i've seen
Thank you so much for using a family V8 instead of the usual LS1, finally a V8 swap I can enjoy.
Ha! I know where that On ramp is! It's right by University of Miami Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center! I make office furniture deliveries there all the time LOL! I love the sound of the 1uz being put through its paces!
oops! I mean VH45 LOL!
That's a fun looking build 👌 love it
Do love the S14 interior. That vent in the door, it's very E39 BMW, and that makes it pimp as fuck.
Very nice car. He put the extra gauges somewhere respectable not on the steering column or somewhere stupid. And that shifter OMG the throw is all wrist. Again very nice car.
man that sounds delicious, positive changes too!
because people do what they want to their own cars. thats the beauty in it. if everyone did and had the same thing it would make it boring.
that roaring sound,too clean
Nice car man. Sounds sick. I love how you pulled the Climate controls and put the radio in there so you had room for gauges lol.
Drag and drift car all in one. Badass.
This car sounds beautiful.
All I have to say is DAAAAAAAAAAAMN! power in each gear all the way
not that i dislike LS1s in import cars, but it is nice to see someone using a different v8 setup for once. Nice job.
i havnt seen any of your other vids yet...but nice build on this car, seems really solid
Congratulations. It genuinely looks hella fun.
Dude everything is sexy about that car except for the squeak in the clutch. Nice build!
Lol, I like how you looked at the camera in the beginning. Yes, we can see you.
q45 is just a model from Infiniti, it was their full size luxury sedan with the VH45DE V8 engine. 300ZX is a sports car offerend by nissan through the 80's and 90's, with a twin turbo model. A 240sx is a model offered by nissan as well.

i bet that thing is a lot of fun to drive!
This is sick, I'm getting a q45 soon and to keep the insurance down swap a 300zxtranny in and hopefully supercharge it. Do only the turbo transmissions work with the q45 motor?
Hey i was just wondering. Did you have to use hood spacers to make it clear the vh45? Seems like i see a lot of people spacing it or cutting the hood.
SLF BABY !!!!
good man... i do that with every car on the on ramps... its the only 60 seconds of fun from home to work
240sx, 300zx, and Q45s are all models of cars made by Nissan. VH45DE is the type of engine swapped from the Q45. They were made with those "numbered" names.
Who could possibly not like this? Every time I hear this I get a semi lol
nothing wrong with a little spirited driving. 👍
so awesome.... everything about it was awesome
What a sound at full throttle !
I love your whip man. This is what I would love to do. Screw the haters and purists. This is pretty legit.
Just woke up from a dream that I was building a v8 240 and had to look it up
sounds excellent and smooth. Enjoy it.
TY FOR NOT just throwing a ls1 in. very nice video mate.
Actually its the best thing ever. V8 power in a LIGHT car. Something we Americans cant understand.
your car sounds. AMAZING!
I used to sell them at electrodyne as they imported them.
You can find a horn button for it probably at pelicanparts or other porsche and vw bulletin boards.
i agree its nice to see some originality for once
What kind of camera are you using to film. When I put my gopro on the sunroof inside like that it smashed the video and makes it look too wide. I like how this looks.
Ha! that's by my crib..car sounds sick bro!
best of both worlds right there....what motor do you have it it?
Niiice! Great sound! Looking like south florida!
OHH MAN THIS CAR IS AMAZING!
That thing is beast. nice work
well, if you like the sound of your engine and if your doing it right there is nothing bad about doing that in all day driving. the problem is that with most manufactured cars, you can't keep the brake while giving gas cause the gas pedal is often lower so most people let off the brake to give some gas. what is bad is compressing w/o giving gas before downshifting. its hard both on the clutch and the engine, especially with those big blocks

Hey man, looks solid and sounds really good. What short shifter are you running?
