Hi. I'm looking at setting up an enclosure using a failed aquarium to start out with some Indian stick insects. What mesh would you recommend for covering the open parts and do you know where would be best to get it from?
Nice vid! Do you know the make of the cylindrical sweet tub by any chance? It's just what I've been looking for for me caterpillars and orbweavers. Cheers!
It was done by Tuck Shop company and had 300x those flying saucer sweet things. Its not a solid build, as in if u press it, it will indent inwards but if u hold it lightly when moving this shouldn't cause any issues at all. At least it hasn't done for me :) good luck!!
Bug Realms cheers mate and just so happens I have a bit of nostalgia for those flying saucer things so could probably eat 300 no problem haha. Thanks again I'll.do some digging
Are you still wanting some? My indian stick insects have had loads of eggs, i counted 130 and theres still loads, i live in weymouth in uk, if youre still interested im happy to give them away, i dont have alot of room to buy a new habitat for them all, sorry took me this long.. Message back n let me know
Fendt Tractor Fan very easy and hardy species. Adapts well to both netted or enclosed enclosures (as long as there's ventilation of course) have the enclosure around 30cm+ in height once they are fully mature. Can have smaller before but must be at least 3x their size in height. Paper towel or soil based substrate is fine but be warned they produce alot of ova (eggs) in their lifetime. Easy to feed on various plants but often take well to bramble, privet and oak. I have a vid about one of my Indians somewhere if u would like to watch it :) "not so boring Indian stick insect" or something similar 😁
Fendt Tractor Fan your welcome. Plenty more stick insect videos planned for the future. Will be covering a range of things from care sheets to experimental enclosure styles 😁 appreciate your watching
Fendt Tractor Fan depends with method you use. If ur using cocofibre/soil type substrate then adding springtails will help keep it clean 😁 if ur simply using paper towel then they won't survive on it hehe
Sam Pearce sure! I currently only own giant orange isopods. But if it's something you want me to do videos on I will certainly buy some more sp. Just need to give me a few weeks 😁
I don't expect you to buy anything for me! I want to start owning and breeding insects and arthropods, but I don't know where to start... I'm thinking isopods because i like them and they live around my area but want something I can interact with and spend time with. What would you suggest?
Sam Pearce I love keeping all inverts so it's not a problem for me to get some to make a vid for you 😁 it really depends which interest you the most. I'm mostly a stick insect person but I own such a variety of different inverts now. I have to start work now buddy but I'll try and get back to you later 😁
Cheap and easy, two of my favorite words

Would this work for 2 stripped sticks?
I've been wanting some prickly stick insects for a while now, but not sure where to get them from in the UK

Bug Realms One last thing, those creatures you said about in the substrate, do you recommend those to a newbie? :)
