I just love it when I get home from work and get onto my computer and load up youtube and you have put another video out.
I have the Insta360 One X2 (I'm UK by the way and jealous of your weather) and I have learnt loads from watching your videos, Like using Kuula Which I would never have known about an so where I took some photos of a farmhouse to use in Kuula, but never got to actually do it in the end but I learnt a lot out if it so Thanks.

AWESOME. I have InstaOne 360R and an older Garmin Virb. I tried to upload some of the 360 Photos from Virb, and Facebook wouldn't recognize them. EXIF Fixer did the trick. Thanks much.

If you don't have a 360 camera, and you're an Android user, you can also take 360 photos with your phone with the Google Camera app. Open the camera app, swipe the menu at the bottom of the screen to Modes, then choose Photo Sphere.

Do you have a process for getting through the current issue with Google Street view not being able to be uploaded any new photos right now? The Google Street View App is no longer a thing, and after talking to a developer today, they were saying Google Changed something, and third-party platforms are having trouble with Google Street View API changes.
So the only way to post 360 photos right now is by using the Street View Studio, which only takes video files and no still images. Plus, you need to use a business map point. So how do you update the outdoor space on maps if you only have jpg files?

Nice video, made a panorra account after watching.
I am wondering though, why it seems mainstream support for 360 seems to be lacking or going really slow. I would love to be able to grade photos or videos in Lightroom or Resolve, but it is a hassle. I would like to just import, grade, and export as 360 photo/video again.

Hi, maybe I'm out of context. But why do my 360 tours sometimes feel shaky? They are in a fixed position but they are not aligned with the horizon when I move in the 360 image. Can I modify that with Insta 360 editor? or kuula?

Viewing in a headset is way better. Get
1) simple headset--mine was $8 at a thrift store
2) free app--if my phone hadn't died I'd tell you the one I used, but it worked for spherical and fisheye photos

Hello Ben, The360 Guru. Is there a way to present 360 photos on RUclips? I stretched it out in Premiere, but without metadata injection it's not interactive. And why when I inject metadata it becomes interactive but half of the image is lost. It becomes a distorted 180 blend.

It's true that sharing 360 photos is complicated.
For me it's easy because I have everything I need on my computer, my tablet and my smartphone. However, I have friends who are completely unaware of VR and 360 technology and don't want to install or tinker with anything, so I have to send them reframed photos. It's frustrating.
A question: Why smartphones, while they have lenses on each side, are unable to take 360 videos and photos? In my opinion, they could be perfect.
Are we to think that after all, VR and 360 only affects a tiny community?

Hey Paul- the reason is that in order to make a 360 degree video, you need two fisheye lenses of at least 200 degrees FOV. Phones currently are much narrower, and to truly be able to capture 360 videos the lenses would need to protrude from the phone, which isn’t a very attractive look, nor pocket friendly.

Or why Insta/Gopro are not implanting phone capabilities in their cameras? I would buy it.

There are add-on telephoto lenses for smartphones. Are there any add-on fisheye lenses? If so they could turn a smartphone into a 360 camera!@@BenClaremont

hi. seems google photos does not open 360 on my android... how did you do that? and in panorra, we can open all 360 but only save a real one, what about those wonderful 360 made by gameeditors, blender or ai like SkyBox?

Which one has the best quality? I’ve been posting pictures on Facebook and my videos on RUclips
Most display photos in their original quality. I’m sure Facebook compresses a bit, but for social media is still decent enough 👍🏻

Could you do the same video for 360 video? I find no solution available for a mobile option to add meta data needed to upload a 360 video on my phone.

No
Flickr has (limited) support for 360 photos - you can upload it, in the photostream it has the distorted look, but if you click on it, it becomes a 360 photo you can spin however you want, but you can't zoom in/out. And I don't think it has video support.

I have a problem connecting the Ricoh Theta Z1 to the Matterport application. The camera is not seen (the application only sees my iPhone on which it is installed). Theta Z1 is of course connected via Wi-Fi but the application does not see it. Anyone know how to connect it?

HELP! Mine are .HTML and can´t get them to open on a virtual tour app. Can´t even open them anywhere on my computer either. I shot with my dji mini 2. Do I need to convert or do something else? Please help. I can see the stitched photo while my phone is connected to the drone though, but can´t really do anything else with the file.
HTML really isn't an image format; most likely what you have is the wrapper of a web viewer, like Pannellum. These are great if you want to share photos on your own website. This is the difference between "save as" (saves the page) and "save image as" in your web browser. Your actual images should still be in the drone.
Hey Ben - I have gen-1 Samsung gear 360. The support from Samsung seem to have stopped . Which means I can’t use my iPhone to connect to it and stich the photos. Any other alternate third party options to stich photos and videos from gear360 ?

I am a 360 newbie, forgive my ignorance.
Ben, how did you get the 360 image into your android gallery? It looks "fully functional" that is, you move perspective around with your finger.... I am struggling to figure out how this is done... all my "images" are the two circles that in order to be properly viewed need Studio. Suggestions?
Two circles form requires reprojection to look right. You probably have a dual circular fisheye image. Perhaps the simplest stitcher might be ffmpeg -vf v360=dfisheye:equirect but tools like Insta360 Studio might be better at both stitching and knowing the particular characteristics of your camera.
In addition, once you have a consistent projection it must be described in metadata, whether exif or svhd. This may be built in to some stitchers, or can be done with metadata injectors. In theory this can be complex enough to describe the reprojection with mesh mode, but readers are often restricted to only particular modes, equirectangular being most widely supported (but not necessarily high quality).

@@BenClaremont I use my Google account to log in and getting "Login Successful" then click "Done" ( the only option) then I come back to the login screen with a grey overlay and the spinning star.... end of story.. ( on iPhone ) on Mac I can log in with google ( via some minor quirks) but the all important button "Create" does nothing.

Panorra really looks like Instagram for 360 photos. I wish there are more support for 360 photos in regular gallery apps for phones.
Also I wish the RUclips doesn't downscale videos to 4k, 5.7k looks much sharper. These 2 things now seem to be the biggest roadblocks to adoption of 360 media.
Agreed, however to me 360 videos look the same in ‘4k’ as before. My theory is that 4K describes the playback window, and not the full 360 sphere quality.
@@BenClaremont I advise you to upload some 5.7k 360 video to RUclips and compare with the original, the difference in quantity is very noticeable. Either RUclips resolution is downscaled to 4k or they are overcompressed, there's no sense to apply 4k to the whole screen, that would require unnecessary upscaling of 360 videos
@Darko Nomad amazing places you've been, based on your panos on Panorra. Just a note that Panorra does not support still images, just 360 images, for now
There's also Flickr, for still photos. It's got some limitations, but it has basic navigation support for 360 photos
Only iPhones can't view 360. On Android it works since at least 5-6 years. (At least on Samsungs) :)
But Panorra sounds great!

Newbie Q: how do you even get a 360 picture. I have the insta360 x2.
There is no secret. Just switch to photo mode and press the shutter button.
Google Photos isn't working for me. Half of 360 image--apparently bordered by the the stitch line--remains black until the entirety of the opposing image fills the entire frame. Even then, what's visible is very low-res and reverts to solid black quickly upon slight rotation. Using X3 and every downloaded 360 image gives the same result. Google's motto is "do no evil." Too bad they left out, "do nothing mediocre."
Pretty sure they removed that motto... their current approach is "do nothing manually".

Would not recommend pampers if you’re flying a drone. It’s more of 270 degrees instead of the advertised 360

Not following. The app displays photos from all devices in full 360. If it’s not, then the shot likely wasn’t taken in full 360.
Not quite correct, as samsung, for example, has a built-in 360-Viewer in it's gallery.
