I lived in the western suburbs for a little over 25 years. My endgame was to return to Iowa after I retired, where I am now. So make your money in Illinois which is livable in some places, but retire elsewhere.
I literally live in gurnee Six Flags great America the best roller coaster park in the whole United States🎉🎉

I see it’s all about the Chicagoland area everything north of i80. Although I grew up in Chicago and the raised my family in the burbs. I can tell you there are other nice places in the state, our tax money goes to the state above I80. I no longer live in the state and have no interest of ever moving back but geez, this should be titled 20 best places to live in the Chicagoland area. Boo to the title 😮
Springfield is a great place to pick up an abandoned house really cheap, unless its already been converted into a meth lab.
Get out of Illinois ASAP. Run, don't walk to the nearest Exit! Extreme Crime, Taxes, Corruption, Awful Schools, and COLD. If you live there, plan an Exit strategy and RUN.

No one in their right mind would willingly live in Illinois. I lived in your number 7 location for 3 years and had my house burglarized twice. The best place to live in Illinois is to leave and never go back. Illinois is like a roach motel but the roaches are in charge.
Poor baby, I have lived in Illinois for many years along with 7 other states . Illinois is a wonderful place to live , Great jobs. Good schools. Beautiful State , I feel sorry for you cry baby .
