Here's a FULL REVIEW in detail of which system is best for painting cars and trucks. The 3M pps system is very expensive where as the Harbor Freight Spectrum Paint system Cups are reasonably priced.. The question is ??? Which one should you use to do the best overall job and save money doing it??? I want to paint my car or truck and need cup liners and lids to do it!

The cap feature is great for base and intercoat! I also use these filters plus a paper filter in the cup

It's works fine I've used one for almost a year and have had no trouble now the lids for the cups is were I've found a little differents that the problem were I'm at the store around me can't keep them stock.
Bought this system last week, the tip for keeping it upside down and pulling the trigger to release the air was nice! ill remember that when i spray my truck this weekend!
I've been using the for over a year and haven't had any issues. I got the adapters with them so I know they would work. I also use their HTE Blackwidow for clear and I have any issues with orange peel.

I have a iwata and bought the adapter from Harbor freight and it works just fine
I have been using the pps system since it's introduction in the early 2000's when i worked in the sign business going from cups to liners was a major game changer for me i was able to paint a 45' long sign with a satin bronze acrylic enamel and keep up with the flash time no dry spots no tiger strips i even had jobs where i was able to spray on my back saving the time and money of 2 and 3 stage paint jobs. FYI 3M gives you caps for the lids there in a small bag at the bottom of the box. and for new painters don't pay attention to these guy bragging about there 800-1000 or 1500 dollar guns i spray up to 8 stage's of house of kolors painting lowrider's with a cheap china gun when i started guys would get creamy over binks #7 i tried one it was no better then what was out there its like the difference between matco and snapon the gun doesn't make the painter the painter makes the gun and wear your PPE especially gloves or you will end up loopy and have allot of health problems especially your kidney's liver and cognitive functions

Hey Pete I use at Harbor Freight stuff I just buy the replacement lids and liners that's it I use my 3M adapters and they work fine but I don't buy the adapters I just buy like I told you the lids and the liners I haven't had an issue and I use the 3M hardcup in the liner Works inside very very good I went I've used about 20 of them already and I haven't had a problem but I don't buy the adapters one of my friends uses the adapter and he hasn't had any problems but you know they are cheaply made and there could be a bad one here and there but keep up the good work I enjoy your show thank you

Been using HF paint system cups with non-HF adaptors since I first bought 'em since I already had all the adaptors I needed
I'm going to have to work on getting the 3m adapters for my Devillbiss guns. I was using the Devillbiss system but that system has shot up to almost $100.00

I did repair paint on big trucks (18 wheeler) for Volvo in VA.
We used the 3M system. I had spills, lids not sealing, cups falling off, etc pretty often. I would probably paint 25 to 30 different parts/colors per shift that would run the size from mirror covers to ferrings (basically the size of 2 large car fenders), then clear on each part.
Lots of mixing and spraying, and issues along the way were normal, not the exception. Maybe it was the sheer number of cup changes, and with the higher number the problems just seemed to be lots, where a body shop may do 1/10 of the cup changes we did on a shift so they do not see as many issues as often.
I use the harbor freight system at home painting everything from auto paint, to refinishing guns (cerakote, duracoat finishes) and do not seem to have nearly as many issues, but it is a hobby and not much use/changes.
I also use the middle of the road ha ❤️mrbor freight sp meray guns and am as happy with them as i was our $1,000.00 guns before

When did you move away from using your siphon guns Pete? What tip are you using for your clear?
They have different adapters for different guns at harbor freight or you can order a system 1 adapter for your type of gun
and the body shop I work for I do priming after I do my body work and I use the liners over many times I let the primer dry and it just flakes right out I ripped the screen out of the top and use a regular paint strainer I get many uses out of the liners
Your right Pete they hold 20 oz.; thats 8 oz less that the large 3M 28 oz. I bought 2 of the starter kits which gave me 2 new measuring cups plus the one 3M that I already had. That way I can mix up as much as I need and have them lined up and ready when I run out of the first one. That way Im not having to stop and mix again because it is already mixed and ready. All I have to do, is pull the top doing a quick pit stop and switch cups. The 3M liner seems to be a little 'thicker' but that does not seem to matter.

spectrum cup works with 3M adaptors i have 2 satas and 2 iwatas been using harbor freight cups with no problems all have genuine 3M adaptors on them.
something I herd was you had to make three small changes to get around patents so bet it fits but just not the same as the patent holder, as someone said once, Its close as damn is to swearin...
Maybe Harbor Freight will come out with a hearing aid so you dont have to yell all the time?

3m pps comes with caps they are just in a separate bag. also i dont know what kind of 3m lids you have but the ones we use have the screen the full size of the lid and the lock nut is part of the lid. i see you have old ones i thought they stopped making them

why did 3M go from the PPS-1 to the PPS 2.0 system... is it better or just a gimmick to take more of our money?
I dont get what you are trying to say, I know there are adapters to use the spectrum system on almost any gun,I had to use a brass fitting/ adapter from the gun to the spectrum on a astro detail gun,the parts are out there

I dont think its a " cup adapter", but a gun adapter- to put their cups on your gun.?
Lol my dumbass literally just uses these to mix and then pour it into my gun cup instead of using adapters. They save tons of solvent and time still! The price makes that worth it to me.

Anyone knows what respirator cartridge is safe enough for today's paint product? I'm thinking of 3M 6001 universal organic vapor cartridge. The cheapest I've found is 13$ per set. I've read these need to be replaced per every paintjob.

I base with y 3 m accuspray with a 1.4 tip. I use my iwata super nova for clear with a 1.3 tip. I have another iwata super nova with a 1.3 tip I use for sealer. YOU CAN USE PPS1 or PPS 2 cups WITH ANY GUN JUST GET THE RIGHT ADAPTER FOR THE GUN. I USE PPS 1 cups ( generic) to save money
3M comes with a red cap in a bag with your cups and tops I use them everyday.
I bought the PPS 2.0 large cup in a case of 100 pcs. No plugs anywhere, new and un open!
The 2.0 PPS come with 2 bags of black plugs

Your SATA and Iwata appear to be never used. You are a siphon feed Binks#7 guy. What is going on here? Who removes the pneumatic hose coupler from their guns when not in use.
No one is gonna put a 10 dollar kit on a thousand dollar gun. Waste of time to include the Sata gun in this video
Why would you care about 3M stuff working with Spectrum!
If Spectrum is cheaper than the 3M, they would not use the 3M! with spectrum!

Nearly all of 3M's products are made in china, and that includes their painting equipment.
600-190 PPS 1 generic cups fit the 3 m adapters. Fuck horrible freight junk. Unless you like sanding orange peel just saying
Painters with less skill benefit most from high end equipment. And vice versa really skilled guys may see little to no difference in buying high end equipment because they know how to adjust techniques to the equipments quirks. As an example Tiger Woods with a set of 1970s clubs would beat 99% of people with the best equipment money can buy.

It will not come off during a spray....I have used this for about 130 sprays no issues.
I use the 3m pps 2.0 a lot but recently was using the spectrum lately because it was cheap but after this past weekend i am so done with that garbage. Its like i got a kit that was brittle which ended resulted in a couple breaking while capping then resulting in 15ounces of house of kolor kda3001 surfacer/sealer all over the shop floor and it pissed me off. Im done with spectrum, done with pps 1.0 design with locking color and for now on its either 3m pps 2.0 or gravity cup. End of story
