    Thanks for the videos. How many psi do you get from the avanti 5 stage?

      I get readings around 9.4psi-9.5psi at initial start and then air bleed occurs and pressure stabilizes around 8.4psi -8.5psi. Thank you for watching and commenting.

      Jake - been watching your videos, educating myself on turbine painting and my options for either buying the Avanti 5 stage with gun, or possibly building my own with a 6 stage turbine motor and using the extra funds to buy a Apollo 7700 gravity turbine gun. I see Apollo recommends spraying automotive base and clear with their gun, with a smaller 0.8 tip and the pressure reduced to 5.5-6 PSI range. What do you recommend? Should I try the Avanti setup with Avanti gun, or does the Apollo gun produce noticeably better results? Any comment on spraying with a smaller tip and lower pressure, VS spraying at full 8.5-9.5 pressure with a 1.3? I appreciate any info you can share!

      @@JakeLesada do you ever find yourself needing to go above that 8.4 - 8.5 PSI? Trying to decide if I should go 6 stage or just get the Avanti. Need to shoot epoxy primer and high solids stuff potentially. Was thinking to get the Avanti and equip it with a Variac to give it the ability to slow down and reduce pressure like the Apollo high-end units do. If there isn't a need to get more than 8.5 PSI, I may just get the Avanti....

      In general, I don't really need to go into the 8.4 - 8.5 psi range, but it really does help with thick viscosity paint. The reason why I've kept my spraying pressures in the lower psi realm is to lower my exhaust emissions and paint consumption. But, there are benefits for clear coat spraying with the ability to go into the 8.4 -8.5 psi and even up to max 10psi true HVLP - newer paint formulations with 1.5 coat application high solids clears, tend to like that range and atomize easier and spraying speed can increase. I'll give you some examples. With the Apollo equipment and spray gun, here are my favored pressures to spray material: thick Epoxy 1:1 mix no reduction 8psi or greater best atomization, Base Coat 1:1 standard mix 5 psi -5.5psi and up coat pressure to 6 psi for effect coat, Clear Coat - 2:1, 3:1, 4:1 mixes varies with brands of paint and solids content, but can be sprayed with "Ultra Low PSI" 3psi for some clear coat brands, while other brands need to have at least 7psi or greater. To save on clear coat paint 4:1 mix clears can be sprayed at 6psi. The Avanti spray gun when I choke it down, sprays at about 4psi on my gauge but for some paint material it lacks the air to atomize in the "Ultra Low PSI" range, and I'll just need to increase the air with the adjustment in back of the spray gun - not a big deal, but tricky to see it correct on the wall test. In the middle range of air choking it does really well, and at wide open it atomizes great - has a wider fan and spraying speed is faster, but you will use more base coat for smaller sized projects. They all work great, but each just requires their unique own work around to get the job done. Go with your budget, type of projects and material you'll be using, and know that it's all do able with the proper combinations and spaying technique. Here is another bit of info for you, if you decide to go with the Variac setup. You can spray without even knowing the actual spraying psi - just by seeing the results on the wall test and making adjustments with fluid mixture, spraying distance and speed. MIXTURE, DISTANCE, SPEED remember those words when you start spraying. Hope this helps. Thank you for watching and commenting.

    I don't see the Avanti turbines for sale anywhere. Are they still available or have they been discontinued?

      It stills sounds and performs like new. I even got a "Smart" brand remote switch for it that matches the required amps.
