Geddy is one of the greatest human on this planet.I have not Metz Geddy but my admiration for him,is because he shared many moments that made my brother so proud of their relationship.
This has been out for 9 years now, how have I not seen this already??? I thought I've watched everything RUSH by now, several times over too. Great stuff.
i use to live down the street from the old moog factory which was in the same building as buffalos biggest flea market, it was fun watching rockstars come in and out as you rifled through huge piles of used crap
He didn't mispronounce it. According to Bob himself, there are 3 acceptable ways of saying it.. and "Moo" is one of them. ruclips.net/video/UDN-y0QQ7cs/видео.html
Sounds amazing in passage to Bangkok , Exit Stage Left, where Alex solos, Geddy is on rythm guitar and plays the bass pedal that just lays huge bottom at the same time.
They did tap shoes as a synth controller in the movie "Tap" (1989). Something called TapTronics. Other people have since made tap shoes with wireless MIDI and someones working on a Bluetooth version. So I guess the future is now.
@felipeoriani Well, the Moog Taurus III is supposed to be (almost) identical to the Moog Taurus I that Geddy used during the 70s (and 80s I guess, not too sure about when the Taurus II showed up). Anyway, yes you should be able to play all the songs, the only thing the Taurus I has is the vintage vibe, the rest is there in the Taurus III, the difference is very much on nerd level :D
I heard he gave away his original set of Moog Taurus pedals, and had to ask the person he gave them to for them back as a new producer wanted Geddys original sound, this was for the Snakes an Arrows album or something like that it was one of their newer albums if I remember the story correctly, I could be way off on this so don't quote me !
Okay, but let’s get one thing straight…just because you someone can play the entire Power Windows’ bass synth parts - doesn’t give you the ability to tell your friends you can play the entire records’ bass lines…just to win a bet or something. In all seriousness - most people I talk to aren’t even aware he plays the Taurus pedals or what they even do but they all say they can’t believe Rush is only three guys. Geddy doesn’t say much about these things but no doubt are Geddy’s ‘secret weapon’!
ha!! ;) ohhhh! he did once! remember Didacts and Narpets on Caress Of Steel where he screams 'LISTENNNNN!!!!'? actually, he screams on several albums from the 70's, but it's good screaming. a couple good examples are 2112 and Freewill. but, that's one of the things i love about the guy - so much emotion, feeling and conviction in his singing, yet in conversation, a very soft-spoken person.
Hearing the Taurus stomps in "The Anarchist" from CLOCKWORK ANGELS does something physiological to me...like it pushes my head down and makes my eyes cross.
So is it a synthesizer or a sampler? Because I'm seriously thinking about getting one to use it to trigger samples. I guess I could get an MPC, but I'd rather sample with my feet than my hands. HALP!
Moogs (generally speaking) are the classic original synth. (E.g., Wendy Carlos' "Switched On Bach" being an example of an album that helped those outside academia realize how such a big electrical machine could be used *musically*. It was the highest-grossing classical album at that time, btw...) Anyway, i guess there are Moog products today that use samples to some extent, but Moog synths are traditionally synthesizers. Though they are not cheap, if you ever lay down the hard cash for one i think you'll know full well where the $$$ went when you hear that classic tone/timbre coming out! :)
Moog is pronounced like "Vogue". Definately not mouge like rouge....Yet..its cool amongst musos to call it Moog like a cow saying moo. If you wanna pronounce it as it would be in its origin country (seems to be the Netherlands) it would be "Moke" like that sugary beverage Coke.
Frank Jacobson You're correct. It's prounced just like a (Nissan) Rogue, but M instead of R. Or like a HOAGie sandwich. ruclips.net/video/Cm7mHTAGL9g/видео.html

Geddy is such a musical hero. He's just the man.
This has been out for 9 years now, how have I not seen this already??? I thought I've watched everything RUSH by now, several times over too. Great stuff.
Nothing can beat the old Taurus.
Nothing!! Greatest SOUND in all of Rock!
RetroSound So schaut‘s aus ... 😉
Even Geddy's Taurus is missing the control panel housing! That makes me feel a lot better :D
FUN FACT: Mike Rutherford played Moog Taurus Slippers in "Slippermen".
Parts 2 and 3 are available in the Legacy section of Moog's homepage
i use to live down the street from the old moog factory which was in the same building as buffalos biggest flea market, it was fun watching rockstars come in and out as you rifled through huge piles of used crap
I love that he miss pronounces the name of the company, but no one corrects him because he’s Geddy Lee.
I was about to comment the same thing, then I thought- someone MUST have said this already
i think most musicians call it "Muug" not "Mogue". Rick Wakeman also
He didn't mispronounce it.
According to Bob himself, there are 3 acceptable ways of saying it.. and "Moo" is one of them.

moog is fine
And Canadian.
Sounds amazing in passage to Bangkok , Exit Stage Left, where Alex solos, Geddy is on rythm guitar and plays the bass pedal that just lays huge bottom at the same time.
Could we please get the other videos back? I loved hearing Geddy talk about them.
parts 2 & 3 are found here www.moogmusic.com/legacy/geddy-lee-taurus
He is my hero. I love this man
Taurus I and II were and are entirely different to each other. Taurus II is actually Moog Rogue the keyboard replaced with foot pedals.
They did tap shoes as a synth controller in the movie "Tap" (1989). Something called TapTronics. Other people have since made tap shoes with wireless MIDI and someones working on a Bluetooth version. So I guess the future is now.
Moog Taurus Slippers are now on my wishlist haha. Can't wait to hear the pedals on the new album!
Geddy Lee = Galactic Music Wizard
having met the guy on a random day in downtown London ON, I can confirm this. He has a way of carrying himself not unlike Gandalf. Proud but humble.

D ultimate bass pedals for d ultimate bass player! Moog + Geddy + Bass Guitar = Badass
If only the Ford Taurus possessed the same level of coolness...
Idk man the police interceptor models pretty cool

Listen to Rush regularly, looking at buying a new monosynth. Slam dunk for the youtube algorithm, "Have I GOT the video for YOU."

great to hear the Gedster talk about the old Taurus pedals... kinda kills me when he puts the moo in moog though... come on man...
@TheeMilford That would be fantastic, wouldn't it? Or, really, I'd be just as happy to find out that Ged was using the Minitaur in concert.
GO RUSH!!!!
"Moog Taurus Slippers"...wow
I wonder why the Taurus isn't reissued?
it was reissued in 2009/2010 as the Taurus III's.. only 1000 were made
What happened to parts 2-3?

Moog Taurus Slippers, for a real walking bassline
Moog is pronounced like "Vogue". Definately not mouge like rouge....Yet..its cool amongst musos to call it Moog like a cow saying moo. If you wanna pronounce it as it would be in its origin country (seems to be the Netherlands) it would be "Moke" like that sugary beverage Coke.

They could call the product the "MT" (empty) Slippers...
Thanks for sharing.

I don't think I could ever imagine Geddy being truly angry. I've seen him get emotional but I don't think he's ever yelled at anyone. lol
Mini Taurus peddles? Sounds like something Kraftwerk would have used in the 80s.
Part 2 and 3, news.cygnus-x1.net/2012/02/geddy-lee-moog-taurus-pedals-interview.html
If u do a mic on the neck u need a noise gate
Geddy, I believe it's pronounced M-oh-g, not M-oo-g.
Geddy may pronounce however he may please :)
I thought it was Oh-em-gee.
I pronounce it the same as Geddy. :D
His voice is going through a GeFilter that is why it sounds the way it does.
Frank Jacobson You're correct. It's prounced just like a (Nissan) Rogue, but M instead of R. Or like a HOAGie sandwich.
ruclips.net/video/Cm7mHTAGL9g/видео.html
synthesizer, it has nothing to do with sampling at all
@xBlame2workshopx you bet
mingo and montgomery
mindnumbing mecklenberger
i'll finish the sentiment on gary's shirt, "gefilter"...wait for it."fish". your welcome
Most expensive slippers ever.
@rockhard. Actuall it isn't pronounced that way at all, its a dutch and german, neither pronounciation sounds like Rouge.....
slippers
oh god bad jokes
Subdivision
Its official, when a god pronounces it the right way then it shall be. Moog not mogue
acually its pronouced like rouge, the stuff girls put on their cheeks,
only with a m instead of an r
Once and for all "Moog" is pronounced "Mogue".......... as in vogue, not Moooooog like a cow.......
