    How there's ANY fear of swirling with a dual action buffer is interesting to hear. Using a cleaner wax is for amateurs when a rubbing compound is called for.
    Use Meguiar's Flagship polish.
    Taking way to long to get a shine with cleaner wax. It'll last over 8 months exposed and Untouched.
    Also, paint?! No, vinyl wrap if anything.

    • @rolandjacques649
      @rolandjacques649 3 года назад +1

      Yep, it seems like a good rubbing compound with a 8" wool pad buffer and a light spay of water would get much faster results.

  • @jonnyirwincte
    @jonnyirwincte 2 года назад +2

    OR you can pay a detailer to do a REAL oxidation removal with a compound and a wool or cutting pad (preferably wool, longer cut time) then a polish followed up with a sealant or wax (NEVER CARNAUBA IT SPEEDS UP OXIDATION) your gel coat needs the right oils carnauba is for clear coat though it may look nice it does cause oxidation so your best bet would be to use a polymer. Takes time but the right steps and that oxidation isn't coming back anytime soon as in years not months. 🏴‍☠🤙

    I hate gelcoat. People that have oxidized gelcoats think waxing is going to save it, guarantee it will be back in months. I tell people all the time there is nothing you can do about it, just keep it washed and seal it. Don’t buy a gelcoat RV.

    Much easier and faster to use a rotary with a wool pad. Just a couple passes and the shine is back. Y'all we're over working yourselves.

      @@RVingwithAndrewSteele but that goes for either method. You are a lot better off than i am I'm sure but with a 2 man crew we can was buff and wax 2 rv's in 1 day. Judging by the time your method takes it wouldn't be possible to even do 1 in a full 8 hour day. Just doesn't seem logical on the money side of things. We usually rotary with a wool pad and 1500 then go in to a gel coat sealant and no issues at all. Is this wrong?

    How much do you charge for cleaning and waxing a painted rig vs a gel coat? ? Say a 45' Prevost.

    • @RVingwithAndrewSteele
      @RVingwithAndrewSteele  5 лет назад

      There are tons of different variables that go in to our cost. Depending on where we are located, time of year, supply and demand ect. We are a mobile service so travel time plays a huge part in the cost. We usually don't wax gel coat because it's not a good value as I talked about in the video.

      Only after compounding to fresh gelcoat but ceramics are really only good for newer gelcoat where the pores haven't opened up so much.
      Wax works, lazy RV-er's wait for oxidation to show, then they wax. Mistake #1.

    Drill operated rubber eraser wheels to remove the decals...once you get the hang of it its pretty easy...just takes some time...it does for sure leave behind the difference in color and sheen in the decal area versus the non decal area but buffing it out makes it better..tho not perfect...just an FYI for those who have bad decals.

    Hi Andrew, I have a fiberglass roof on my 2011 Winnebago Via that has been faded and slightly chalky from the Arizona sun. I have had recommendations ranging from polishing it out and waxing, cleaning, sanding and applying a clear coat or cleaning, sanding and applying a fiberglass roof paint such as the one made by Dicor. It also has a 4" graphic tape at the top which rolls up to join the roof and looks like it was clear coated at one time. What do you recommend? (PS: You have seen this RV, I bought it in Fountain Hills from someone you know ;)

      Since you have a computer, type in GELCOAT in your search engine like Google. There is a description of Gelcoat in Wikipedia. Basically it is a thin plastic coating applied to the outside surface of fiberglass to make it smooth. It can be any color because the color is blended with the gelcoat before application. Hope this helps.
