I agree. I was able to hit fujin on steve but I have been playing for quite some time. It is definitely getting hard now but thats just how it is. I hit fujin in tekken 7 with geese but he was a cracked character meanwhile my steve only ever got to divine ruler. Your character can carry you really hard in this game so keep that in mind. A fujin paul will be extremely different than a fujin devil jin as there is way more character execution and expression that is possible. you dont even need 60% win rate to be in the top 4% of players think about that..

I've been playing since Tekken 3 but I reached Fujin on Tekken 8. Though I agree with what you said, in Tekken 7 getting out of yellow ranks was pure torture during the early days. I've noticed that in the blue ranks you'll either play against really good players, players carried by easier characters, or pluggers/rage quitters who don't belong there.

    • @waize-1383
      @waize-1383 5 месяцев назад +3

Facts on all points. Yellow and orange ranks was a nightmare been playing since TT3/TT1 and reaching red in Tekken 7 was respectable reached the blue ranks in T7 maining Heihachi a tough character to reach high ranks with and I'm almost at fujin in TK8 with Kuma. I think its safe to say people got better in addition to everything you said but remember in early tekken 7 it was dominated by smurfs all the way from blue to red. The player pool has expanded too with alot more casuals.

@@waize-1383 yea man, and bro even though I've been a Jin main since day 1 I still really miss playing Heihachi; I absolutely love Tekken 8 but not having Heihachi for the first time is sad. I still remember the shitshow that was Tag 2 online, it was dominated by double capos doing the most ridiculous shit in green ranks. But you're right, in Tekken 8 I feel like reaching Fujin is a combination of the ranked mode being a little more forgiving with demotions and the process of just getting better at the game (it also helps that the replay mode is really good for learning how to play against characters you're having trouble with).

I feel like it is also easier to rank up in this tekken cause there's such a huge influx of newer players. Not saying you didn't earn your way up there to Fujin but I feel like having more newcomers and less die hard and veteran tekken players make ranking up that much easier.

There'll be many players who are actually insane at the game, and then there will be others who abuse very easy characters and don't have great fundamentals/movement. Up until purple ranks the game felt very easy and you can tell who's a newcomer and who's a long time player. To add on to your point, I also think that the rank system is a bit weird, sometimes I'll win 300-500 points with a win, and other times I'll either get 1000 points or lose 1000 points, it's super weird but I heard that streaks increase your points.

I'm Flame Ruler right now and the biggest jump I've seen in skill has been Red -> Purple. Before Red ranks is tons of spam and gimmicks. In Red, people generally seem to have a grasp on their characters, but almost no matchup knowledge. And now in Purple I'm finally playing people who know some matchups, and can hold back on their D-pad and punish correctly. I can still get away with cheese sometimes, but even then most Purples adapt during the match. I reckon Blue is where I'll plateau until I lab more characters.

I think it’s worth noting that there are only three ranks per color in the majority of ranks as opposed to four ranks per color like previous Tekkens.
I also believe that Tekken ranks can be summed up as pre Tekken 7 season 2 and post Tekken 7 season 2. If you played T6, Tag 2, and T7 season 1, orange was decent and red was really good. After T7 season 2, blue was the new red rank. On the one hand, the ranking system pre T7 season 2 was a lot more brutal and unforgiving which made it more stressful to play ranked. On the other hand, T7 post season 2 makes it more enjoyable to play ranked (especially for lower ranked players).
For Tekken 8, I think that red rank is decent and purple is where people start to really establish a game plan. Blue rank is where people start to play decent Tekken, and gold-purple is where people have tighter gameplay, frame traps, whiff punishing, and you start to see some fundamentals. Anything above that is either extremely solid or extremely aggressive players.
I just made it to Tekken King and I’m starting to get some resistance in my matches. I think I’m good at being in gold-purple for now, but I might hop back in soon and try for Tekken God.

Preferably, learn your character’s frame traps and quick mids like df1 so you can force your opponent to make a mistake. Using something too obvious like constant lows or unsafe moves will give your opponent an opportunity to make a comeback. Also, incorporate throws as best you can. Have you played other regions other than Asia? My current impression with the Asian region, coming from Asia 3, is that Japan players most of the time don't want to match anyone other than their region, KR is same with JP but if they match, they rage quits after 1 loss (playable 100 ping), Asia 2 (Thai, Malaysia) they match me most of the time even while losing (they have a lot of heart). Asia 3 has a lot of wifi players 😂

@@mkt-7 On Lounges and in T7, yeah. Here is my opinion on them.
If you are fighting American or European Players, it depends on how much matchup knowledge you have about their character. They tend to check more than Asian players barring maybe Middle East players or Asia 1 players who would abuse stuff as much as possible(as in stuff you can't deal with, moves which work on bad connection etc) but they can also play fundamental Tekken just fine and also know when to disrespect frames. Which is lacking in European or American players I have fought so far.
Anyways for T7 personally I felt like their Red rank is more like Yellow ranks in Asia. Based on tournament matches I fought with them. Specifically for europe region. Hell even had one of Lucky Chloe players who reached TGP by spamming Cali roll when it is consistently punished or sidestepped at Orange ranks in Asia server. And couple of Mighty Ruler Alisa's in Europen region who got there just by spamming b3+4, 3+4 which would get you killed in like Orange to Red ranks in Asia(being generous to European region).
As for Asian players. Generally I too find Asia 2 players to be nicest in terms of manners. Asia 1 and Asia 2 players rematch until you are done. Korea or Japan, they only rematch if you win against them(Japanese do rematch if they feel pressured more than Koreans.) But if you lose they generally won't give you chance to adapt to them. Asia 3? Haven't faced many of them yet. Middle East? They are generally laggy even with 5 bars and would abuse lag only setups, so are terrible to fight against. And they are pretty toxic as well in general. Asia 1 and Middle East players also tend to smurf at low ranks compared to other Asian regions.

@ragnarok7452 That's pretty interesting. Maybe the difference in skill is with intermediate ranks with the EU, NA server. But to be fair with them, they have some of the best tournament players too (anakin, joka etc) Asia 3 btw is Philippines and taiwan

Good vid. I feel like the Tekken 7 system was better in terms of demotions on every rank and having to play a couple of matches as a punishment to get to the rank you fell from, but not in terms of farming point on people on rematches. I once found a guy like 10 ranks higher than me and we were constantly clicking rematch after we went back and forth with winning and I was winning some nice point every time (reduced by each mach) while he was winning only 50 points for the fight (I know how many since I've had the exact situation with a "weaker" player), and I couldn't get past vanquisher I believe. Now I sat down with my already acquired skills and improving with each match I barely lost games and in 1-2 hours I got myself warrior (after being placed in Brawler after evaluation of my skills). No demotion is nice, but not challenging. Skill evaluation is nice, but not as rewarding. And yet somehow the experience is far less tilting and enjoyable. Looking forward to reaching as high as I can with my Devil Jin.

Like Fujin and Raijin are purple ranks in T7 and Kishin and Bushin are the new Fujin and Raijin. Second chance promotions in this game really inflates rank. I hit a hard ceiling at high blue ranks in T7. I feel like I haven’t hit that ceiling yet at Bushin. I think Tekken God will be my hard ceiling for me. 1:05 I am firm beliver of that myself Lotus tbh the only reason I have a rank with my character is because unlike in Tekken 7 where you can go straight online this game you had to face a bot and it just gave you a rank from the jump so I'm a Strategist with Lee cuz of that. I used to play rank around Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter X Tekken, Tekken 6, Marvel Vs Capcom 3 etc but something I learned over the years playing is that ranked doesnt really mean nothing tbh. Not saying people shouldn't be proud of where there at or feel like they actually progressed but A LOT of players only care about getting rank as opposed to getting better and actually learning the characters and matchups. Hell watching my homies/homegirls play Tekken I see people constantly plugging or one and doneing just to get to a rank where they want to get to. And that's why I choose not to play ranked myself I'm the type of player where I want to really learn the mechanics of the game, characters, matchups, so I just choose to play quick match and my homies who are really good in the game. I feel once players learn to play to learn as opposed to play to win that's when fighting games become a whole lot funner imo.

However as a result I've been seeing heaps of Garyu players who have managed to scrape there way there using some hyper aggressive/cheesy flow charts that work on lower level players. But they don't know how to do simple things like how to get out of jab pressure.
I've had a few times where I literally just jabbed, DF 1, and low poke Garyu players to death, and they have no idea how to deal with it properly.
If your a new player who has just hit red ranks, this is definetely the stage where you need to start working on your fundamentals and matchup knowledge if you want to keep ranking.

Garyu Jin player here, i topped out at saviour with Jin in Tekken 7. I started playing around the time when Lidia came out. It took me over 1700 hours from zero Tekken experience to saviour rank with Jin. I would argue that saviour in Tekken 7 was waaaaay harder then garyu in Tekken 8. I went with Jin from warrior until eliminator without losing a single match. When i got to red ranks i got the same feeling as when i entered brown ranks in Tekken 7 "why does everyone have perfect kbd's and justframe inputs? Am i this high up in ranked?" Now i have noticed that NOONE has movement that beats the yellow ranks in Tekken 7 up in the red ranks in t8. Like, i go up against people that seems to be there just because they found out that they could mash a single plus on block move until they got there. One thing i also noticed, i have been up against very few "common" characters, i always go up against Reina, Victor, lili, azucena, yoshimitsu and those type of characters. I havent seen a dragunov in a long time, no king players, no Lee players and barely seen any mishimas. Only characters that you can smash the controller in your face and get a long ass string with lots of mixups in, sees some playtime against me. The positive thing about it is that i get to practise these odd matchups when they dont one and done me. The only time i get rematched is when i go up against someone thats way better then me, they dont do shit first match, next match they throw me around like a leaf in the wind and the third match is ALWAYS very close. Even with all this, i love this game and i will play this game until the day they release Tekken 9. Im aiming for the top, noone can stop me! Besides work, work always manages to get in the way of beating up strangers online 😂😂

Red is definitely not Average . I am Garyu and I played people even higher, Might Ruler etc and it was sweaty matches but not all were. It is a mix of randoms, but the matches all then requires skill and knowledge in the game. Its inflated though. This game has way too many gimmicks and people win off of dumb crap like, stages with exploding walls, floors that break, wall breaks, wall juggles in general , spamming R1 , waiting out RT etc etc that gets them into higher ranks but when they come across moments where those gimmicks aren’t in there favor? They get clapped. With that said, Garyus a high rank and congrats to anyone whos earned it and wants to go further!

I think the problem with folks arguing what's "intermediate" play is that a lot of fighting game players both overestimate what "average" play looks like and underestimate how much their experience in the genre helps.
Also Tekken is in general a knowledge check heavy game just cause of the size of the movelists so yeah people are going to get away with gimmicks even on the higher ranks just with less frequency.

LOL blue is intermediate WHAT?! High orange is intermediate, reds I'd consider you good at the game, and blue and beyond you're really good. I think some of these ranks get inflated due to how easy it is to plug and avoid any losses and just continue climbing ranks where lots of players really don't belong. LTG is a great example of someone who got where he is ranked wise by constantly plugging. Its not all the representation but I think it skews it a bit.
