at first i also thought like that, but when i learned the matchup, i rarely lose to victor anymore, its like 90% wr for me, just learn his frame trap and frame adv you have when fighting him, especially when he went swoosh2 (if you know what i mean) like crazy, you can just jab to interrupt it

As an Alisa main, I think there is value in using your gimmicks, but especially when learning the game, I'm not using them much until I hit red rank. As I've climbed, I've found so many other players on gimmick characters who suck outside spamming a gimmick, and character fundementals is so much harder to learn at high ranks than low. Once you're a little better and against better opponents, it's about using everything, gimmicks, and all.
Better players (players with more knowledge on the game) don’t fall for gimmicks. Actually against better players, you’re not even going to be using everything. You only use what isn’t a big risk. You aren’t going to see any top players throwing out random launchers on round start, or see them pressing 1 multiple times in a row because that risks their life.
Alisa is my second main (1st is Lars) and yea, Alisa is a super well rounded character, like, she has both strong gimmicks and fundamental tools imo she's like a sleeper high tier character, people aren't pointing at her but she's not far below top 5 I don't think, deffo top 10
Lemme do you a favor and move Kazuya down to harmless where he belongs. If you’re having trouble with the 50/50, sidewalk left is going to option select every kazuya’s 50/50 until you reach ruler ranks. Most kazuyas are just running at you with hellsweep, ff:3, and ff:4. Sidestep left will give you a launch or backturn punish on all of these.
Yea that is just such BS. Jin is just freaking unstoppable. Reina is not that easy to play, there's so much counter play and her lows are horrible, and her heat smash sucks.

Nah man she still harder than most characters in the game . Also Jin in this game is technically the easiest Mishima . But it is still impressive for a beginner to rise the ranks with a Mishima . Keep up and good luck 👍
What this person said^^ I am using Reina too and got her to Flame Ruler. She is no way an easy character to play so be proud of where you are getting in ranked with her. Especially with how many people are losing with her.
Reina is hard in terms of learning everything she’s not hard in terms of winning she’s kinda free wins at low ranks and is a newb killer i main kaz and I dabble a little with Reina and I win way more with Reina even when I know I’m not really good with the character.
I’m afraid you don’t know ball with Shaheen so let me enlighten you. Shaheen WAS a vanilla boring side grade of Law in Tekken 7 but in t8 they’ve given him a massive overhaul. To sum it up, Shaheen has a 80 damage near guaranteed set up from a single plus on block mid counter hit. His set ups lead to you having your recoverable health stolen in broad daylight and at the wall he’s a menace to society when you figure out his charged moves. Don’t be fooled he’s “Annoying” minimum. Would recommend giving him a try, he’s so much fun
He’s just boring as a character that I wouldn’t even bother learning that to even know. I have only fought one Shaheen in my time in ranked though and he did give me run for my money so I firmly believe theres truth to what you’re saying.
As a law main... it seems like a lot of law players have no idea what they're doing and is banking on the opponent not knowing what law can do... they are usually not ready for law=P...
He's def right that she has gamer buttons/strings that let you flowchart on pickup really fast, but unless you know how to wavedash hellsweep (which "baby's first Mishima" will struggle with) she's got very little for lows. Lot of those Vanquisher down Reina's just press into standing block and get jabbed to death on frame data alone. She's mad good but do think Jin is easier especially with that new shoe shine, power crush chesto, and guaranteed electric strings for a new player.
She is objectively the easiest Mishima ever. She has a hopkick, df2 that launches, canned strings and basically any other tool you could want. Also she has so many + frames and great tracking and easy mode neutral so what are you even saying? lol

OMG THANK YOU for diving into Xiaoyu without just raging out! I'm a Ling main and she is very strong in T8 but like you said... you have b3 and you can launch her from AoP. I got into an argument about "Learn something against what annoys you about the character," but everyone says I'm downplaying. Meanwhile, these are people playing Kaz and King as if their character isn't just 60 seconds of "just guess." At least Xiao's strength is hidden behind setups, and as you said also, most people have trouble setting those up and don't know what theyre doing. I'll agree with everyone that says Xiao is annoying to fight, but I really get tired of the haters going "you just need your stance lol."
As a Hwoarang main I would have expected you to be very afraid of Asuka. Forget the generic Parry, I'm talking her Kick parry and Low parry lead to absolute monster damage. But you're right. 6:03 kazuya is straightforward, meaning defending is straightforward. He hell sweeps for 30 damage (15 or something being recoverable health). You block his hellsweep once just in a whim and he eats 80 dmg or more. You block ff3 he loses his turn. Or you can just side step and counter the entire mix. I would say that’s pretty honest imo.
Feng and Lee main here. I can confirm that Feng should be/can be insanely annoying. I was shocked as I was learning in 8 that no one was really talking about Feng at first. I'm disappointed that people are learning to fear him, but his kit just feels complete. I don't think he's the best in any regard, but he is top 5 in almost every way and has no real weaknesses. Lee is insane though, and I think he's gonna eat some nerfs in a few patches.
Lotus you’re the reason I just bought the game and picked up Howarang as my main as a brand tekken player, I’ve trained/ training in taekwondo for 13 years, so I might’ve ended up on him naturally but he just looks so much fun to play we you were using him on Afros channel I had to get in on it 😂

I actually love playing vs victor is pretty challenging and not annoying I can tell you 6 characters which are more annoying 1. zafina 2. eddy 3. xiaoyu 4. lars 5. eddy 6. hwoarang
I decided to be a kuma/ panda main because I like picking characters that nobody plays and trying to be the best with them, but then being in that tier got me thinking twice now
Bears are some of the most standard Tekken characters with very little BS attached. What Lotus is saying about them isn't a real opinion because compared to other characters they have very little cheese.
Lotus is very biased on this, IMO. Bears are fine. They're strange and can throw people off, but they don't really do anything toxic. As a fellow Kuma player, I don't really have anyone othe than Lotus getting pissed about it.
I'm curious how this will change if he picks up some of these characters. I really think King, Reina and Kazuya got too much hate by being put on at the same tier as Xiaoyu, and Jun.

Tier list will vary, since some characrers have easier time with others than others and the playstyle of some players, etc. But for fun... I'm opposing, STROOOOOONGLY, about your Kazuya and DJ placement. BTW, I don't play them. But Kazuya players typically seem the most skilled, so when I lose it feels like I wasn't cheesed. But with Devil jin, he's way more evasive and spammable, at range, zoning, etc. Feel way more cheesed. He's over every Mishima for me. Everyone talks Reina, King, Feng, and bears but I have very little issue with them. I can understand Feng, but the rest are so readable or counterable. Reinas have horrible mix ups. Bears are readable easily. Their "gimmicks" are easily blocked most times. King players are understandable, I hated them in 7, but surprisingly I have little issue, outside of rage quitter kings. Yes I agree Lars so far is more a pain than king. Victor and Azu, are worse than alot of your 2nd highest tier. I can read law and Nina but I can understand. I appreciate your placement of Hwoarang and my main. Even tho, I would be ok with her being higher. I personally have little issue and feel good in mirrors, but I can understand being a bit higher. I wouldn't complain about putting her next to Kaz.
I also think your logic for reinas win rate being low can be used in the reverse. Her being so popular could effect her more positively than she is. And no offense, but most say that, kinda sounds like a "cope" in the sense that yal get worked by Reina and want her to be stronger than she is, but in reality overall she could be just too linear for most people.
I find it interesting that you claim reina is easy. Her multiple stances and weaker Mishima options seem to make the community agree that her execution makes her the hardest to play.
Shaheen is an underated character, he's not as annoying as the other top tiers but he at least plays the game fair and he's basic for any player to get their hands on. Granted he'll probably not more popular (as of yet) but I still think he is a good addition to the game. And his super/rage art is way better than Jin & Paul let's be real about that.

I can understand if you get annoyed against a good Kazuya.. but Kazuya is nowhere near Xiaoyu or Azucena levels of annoying man. They're never in the same tier. Kazuya has almost zero knowledge checks. And knowledge checks are by far the most annoying thing in Tekken IMO.
Kazuya is absolutely one of my least favorite characters to play against. His hellsweep/mid 50/50 is so frustrating and the fact that kazuya players generally are some of the sweatiest and weirdest players you can run into it just adds insult to injury.
Totally agree with you on Azucena, she doesn't have gimmicks despite people that swear by it. She just has a great 50-50 tool set that most people get f'd up with. If people see those as gimmicks, you might as well include the Mishima's into it as well; wave dashing into their 50-50 launcher/hellsweep is a core part of their game plan.
As a Kazuya player I think he’s pretty good overall, only thing that sucks abt him is his poking and people knowing his matchups but if you’re good you can play around it and it’s fun for me when play as or against him

kazooie is one of my main guys what is hilarious because you're one of the first people to say what I've been thinking for a while. I used to get crucified for saying that Jin's been harder for years. Now that Kazuya's gameplay is even more streamlined by the average player, it's just obvious that he's not difficult to use. Choosing between either a hell sweep, electric or ff3 for the most part is just not hard. Jin does a lot of crushing, he sets traps that require knowledge ECT. At least until they added his cheap down two. As long as you use the obvious Kazuya moves, you're a pretty powerful player without putting in much thought
Yeah but to be good with Kazuya your mechanics movement and execution wise has to be elite or else you can’t really optimize him. His game plan is is simple and straightforward like Steve for example but both these characters are really defensive and require a ton of patience because their punishment is locked behind execution and movement. Your EWGF and Hellsweep is only as good as your movement.

In Tekken 7 you had a point but Kazuya is so much harder than Jin in this game. Kazuya doesn’t have as much cheese to carry him like Jin or Reina. You have to play perfect Tekken. And in Tekken 7 Jin had to as well sure, but his new tools definitely help you so much more. Reina just has like infinite knowledge checks, Kazuya has like 1 or 2. And like I said, those other two characters can probably have worse movement or don’t even need to EWGF sometimes to win. But Kazuya got 0 good launchers outside of EWGF which is vital and if you can’t execute it, the character is nerfed and doing one standing doesn’t matter, you got to do it dashing and wavedashing to unlock 50/50 to open anyone up who is stand blocking you. With Jin you can seriously this game run up Demon Paw or D2 and it’s a threat.

I agree on the vortex thing but the thing i don't agree with is putting Jin below Kaz since in Tekken 8 Jin has a better hellsweep than Kaz, putting you face up/feet away is actually an insane oki situation for an unseeable low that also tracks mad crazy (Kazuya's actually easily side walkable left) and he has good stuff to mix it up aswell such as ff2, ff3 or he can cd1 if you stay on the ground for oki reset. Same goes for Devil Jin you put him in "eh" while he legit has a hellsweep launcher and his heat smash is a full screen i18 mid that tracks

You can't move because you risk getting clipped by it and lose almost half hp, if you move forward it's also a risk, and he doesn't lose anything for throwing it out because he still gets a free mixup if you block it. Nah King belongs in his own category, those constant grab combos he did in tekken 4 that you couldnt break out of earned him his own spot at the top, he is BEYOND frustrating and no one will ever love you.

And i think its because heat smash allows typically for 6 chain combos where you have to guess your ass off. Every character is anoying in this game. And its not new player friendly at all. Heat smash pressure needs a nerf. Period.
Tekken always been the most tilting series, but yeah T8 brings it to new heights with the heat stuff. If you never played a Tekken before you’re in for a *treat* when Eddy Gordo releases 😂
The most toxic by far for me have been the mishimas, always tea bagging, taunting and plugging in my experience. Just now making it to red ranks though so maybe it's just a lower rank thing.

As someone who likes Shaheen's Playstyle, but hates his wonder bread personality. He has to work so hard for his damage in comparison to some of the other characters. I feel like I am playing a completely different game as someone who plays Shaheen. Not quite a Shaheen main, but he doesn't have very good launchers - so you do rely on a few good mixes and setups, he doesn't have good crushes or get off me tools. He's so bad, but lowkey so good too. Haha. As someone who is a Lee main, he still requires a lot of work, you can easily keep out of Lee's range and I cannot do anything, he dies to side stepping, keep out, and most of his really nice moves can easily be ducked which means I spend the game conditioning people to crouch.

A character is as annoying as a players intentions. I have fought Xiayou players that play solid Tekken, and I have fought Asuka and leroy players that flowchart annoying stuff. Some characters have tools that are more easily abused, but it really is in the player’s intentions. I know you stated that your tools should be used and not be considered cheap, but that depends. What do players have to gain by taking advantage of their opponent? Ego points? If we are at a tournament or at evo, by all means use every tool you have. But at least you have an understandable purpose. People that use any means necessary to win in an online game, especially, in casual, are somewhat contemptible. I dont take advantage of my opponents. Not doing so has made me strong, and this approach will make others strong as well
The funny thing about playing King (At the obscenely low level I play at) is that 80% of my matches are curb stomps. Either they can't deal with King's easy bullshit and can barely defend against tick throws and stuff, or they know ALL the easy bullshit and I actually gotta play neutral. (Sidenote I just picked King cause I like how he looks, so I guess I got lucky here. Usually I get low tiers picking like that)

As an Alisa main, I think there is value in using your gimmicks, but especially when learning the game, I'm not using them much until I hit red rank. As I've climbed, I've found so many other players on gimmick characters who suck outside spamming a gimmick, and character fundementals is so much harder to learn at high ranks than low.
Once you're a little better and against better opponents, it's about using everything, gimmicks, and all.

Better players (players with more knowledge on the game) don’t fall for gimmicks. Actually against better players, you’re not even going to be using everything. You only use what isn’t a big risk. You aren’t going to see any top players throwing out random launchers on round start, or see them pressing 1 multiple times in a row because that risks their life.

If you’re having trouble with the 50/50, sidewalk left is going to option select every kazuya’s 50/50 until you reach ruler ranks. Most kazuyas are just running at you with hellsweep, ff:3, and ff:4. Sidestep left will give you a launch or backturn punish on all of these.

I’m afraid you don’t know ball with Shaheen so let me enlighten you. Shaheen WAS a vanilla boring side grade of Law in Tekken 7 but in t8 they’ve given him a massive overhaul. To sum it up, Shaheen has a 80 damage near guaranteed set up from a single plus on block mid counter hit. His set ups lead to you having your recoverable health stolen in broad daylight and at the wall he’s a menace to society when you figure out his charged moves. Don’t be fooled he’s “Annoying” minimum. Would recommend giving him a try, he’s so much fun
He’s just boring as a character that I wouldn’t even bother learning that to even know. I have only fought one Shaheen in my time in ranked though and he did give me run for my money so I firmly believe theres truth to what you’re saying.

He's def right that she has gamer buttons/strings that let you flowchart on pickup really fast, but unless you know how to wavedash hellsweep (which "baby's first Mishima" will struggle with) she's got very little for lows. Lot of those Vanquisher down Reina's just press into standing block and get jabbed to death on frame data alone.
She's mad good but do think Jin is easier especially with that new shoe shine, power crush chesto, and guaranteed electric strings for a new player.
She is objectively the easiest Mishima ever. She has a hopkick, df2 that launches, canned strings and basically any other tool you could want. Also she has so many + frames and great tracking and easy mode neutral so what are you even saying? lol

OMG THANK YOU for diving into Xiaoyu without just raging out! I'm a Ling main and she is very strong in T8 but like you said... you have b3 and you can launch her from AoP. I got into an argument about "Learn something against what annoys you about the character," but everyone says I'm downplaying. Meanwhile, these are people playing Kaz and King as if their character isn't just 60 seconds of "just guess." At least Xiao's strength is hidden behind setups, and as you said also, most people have trouble setting those up and don't know what theyre doing. I'll agree with everyone that says Xiao is annoying to fight, but I really get tired of the haters going "you just need your stance lol."

6:03 kazuya is straightforward, meaning defending is straightforward. He hell sweeps for 30 damage (15 or something being recoverable health). You block his hellsweep once just in a whim and he eats 80 dmg or more. You block ff3 he loses his turn. Or you can just side step and counter the entire mix. I would say that’s pretty honest imo.

Feng and Lee main here. I can confirm that Feng should be/can be insanely annoying. I was shocked as I was learning in 8 that no one was really talking about Feng at first. I'm disappointed that people are learning to fear him, but his kit just feels complete. I don't think he's the best in any regard, but he is top 5 in almost every way and has no real weaknesses.
Lee is insane though, and I think he's gonna eat some nerfs in a few patches.

Bears are some of the most standard Tekken characters with very little BS attached. What Lotus is saying about them isn't a real opinion because compared to other characters they have very little cheese.
Lotus is very biased on this, IMO. Bears are fine. They're strange and can throw people off, but they don't really do anything toxic. As a fellow Kuma player, I don't really have anyone othe than Lotus getting pissed about it.

Tier list will vary, since some characrers have easier time with others than others and the playstyle of some players, etc. But for fun... I'm opposing, STROOOOOONGLY, about your Kazuya and DJ placement. BTW, I don't play them. But Kazuya players typically seem the most skilled, so when I lose it feels like I wasn't cheesed. But with Devil jin, he's way more evasive and spammable, at range, zoning, etc. Feel way more cheesed. He's over every Mishima for me. Everyone talks Reina, King, Feng, and bears but I have very little issue with them. I can understand Feng, but the rest are so readable or counterable. Reinas have horrible mix ups. Bears are readable easily. Their "gimmicks" are easily blocked most times. King players are understandable, I hated them in 7, but surprisingly I have little issue, outside of rage quitter kings. Yes I agree Lars so far is more a pain than king. Victor and Azu, are worse than alot of your 2nd highest tier. I can read law and Nina but I can understand. I appreciate your placement of Hwoarang and my main. Even tho, I would be ok with her being higher. I personally have little issue and feel good in mirrors, but I can understand being a bit higher. I wouldn't complain about putting her next to Kaz.
I also think your logic for reinas win rate being low can be used in the reverse. Her being so popular could effect her more positively than she is. And no offense, but most say that, kinda sounds like a "cope" in the sense that yal get worked by Reina and want her to be stronger than she is, but in reality overall she could be just too linear for most people.
I find it interesting that you claim reina is easy. Her multiple stances and weaker Mishima options seem to make the community agree that her execution makes her the hardest to play.

Shaheen is an underated character, he's not as annoying as the other top tiers but he at least plays the game fair and he's basic for any player to get their hands on. Granted he'll probably not more popular (as of yet) but I still think he is a good addition to the game.

Kazuya is absolutely one of my least favorite characters to play against. His hellsweep/mid 50/50 is so frustrating and the fact that kazuya players generally are some of the sweatiest and weirdest players you can run into it just adds insult to injury.
Totally agree with you on Azucena, she doesn't have gimmicks despite people that swear by it. She just has a great 50-50 tool set that most people get f'd up with. If people see those as gimmicks, you might as well include the Mishima's into it as well; wave dashing into their 50-50 launcher/hellsweep is a core part of their game plan.
As a Kazuya player I think he’s pretty good overall, only thing that sucks abt him is his poking and people knowing his matchups but if you’re good you can play around it and it’s fun for me when play as or against him

kazooie is one of my main guys what is hilarious because you're one of the first people to say what I've been thinking for a while.
I used to get crucified for saying that Jin's been harder for years. Now that Kazuya's gameplay is even more streamlined by the average player, it's just obvious that he's not difficult to use.
Choosing between either a hell sweep, electric or ff3 for the most part is just not hard. Jin does a lot of crushing, he sets traps that require knowledge ECT. At least until they added his cheap down two.
As long as you use the obvious Kazuya moves, you're a pretty powerful player without putting in much thought
Yeah but to be good with Kazuya your mechanics movement and execution wise has to be elite or else you can’t really optimize him. His game plan is is simple and straightforward like Steve for example but both these characters are really defensive and require a ton of patience because their punishment is locked behind execution and movement. Your EWGF and Hellsweep is only as good as your movement.

In Tekken 7 you had a point but Kazuya is so much harder than Jin in this game. Kazuya doesn’t have as much cheese to carry him like Jin or Reina. You have to play perfect Tekken. And in Tekken 7 Jin had to as well sure, but his new tools definitely help you so much more. Reina just has like infinite knowledge checks, Kazuya has like 1 or 2. And like I said, those other two characters can probably have worse movement or don’t even need to EWGF sometimes to win. But Kazuya got 0 good launchers outside of EWGF which is vital and if you can’t execute it, the character is nerfed and doing one standing doesn’t matter, you got to do it dashing and wavedashing to unlock 50/50 to open anyone up who is stand blocking you. With Jin you can seriously this game run up Demon Paw or D2 and it’s a threat.

I agree on the vortex thing but the thing i don't agree with is putting Jin below Kaz since in Tekken 8 Jin has a better hellsweep than Kaz, putting you face up/feet away is actually an insane oki situation for an unseeable low that also tracks mad crazy (Kazuya's actually easily side walkable left) and he has good stuff to mix it up aswell such as ff2, ff3 or he can cd1 if you stay on the ground for oki reset.
Same goes for Devil Jin you put him in "eh" while he legit has a hellsweep launcher and his heat smash is a full screen i18 mid that tracks

And i think its because heat smash allows typically for 6 chain combos where you have to guess your ass off. Every character is anoying in this game. And its not new player friendly at all. Heat smash pressure needs a nerf. Period.

The most toxic by far for me have been the mishimas, always tea bagging, taunting and plugging in my experience. Just now making it to red ranks though so maybe it's just a lower rank thing.

As someone who likes Shaheen's Playstyle, but hates his wonder bread personality. He has to work so hard for his damage in comparison to some of the other characters. I feel like I am playing a completely different game as someone who plays Shaheen. Not quite a Shaheen main, but he doesn't have very good launchers - so you do rely on a few good mixes and setups, he doesn't have good crushes or get off me tools. He's so bad, but lowkey so good too. Haha. As someone who is a Lee main, he still requires a lot of work, you can easily keep out of Lee's range and I cannot do anything, he dies to side stepping, keep out, and most of his really nice moves can easily be ducked which means I spend the game conditioning people to crouch.
as a kazuya main you right lol, the thing with kazuya i feel is he just has way less tools than some characters, at least to me, devil jin just has way more than him i feel and relies way less on counter hits and launchers

A character is as annoying as a players intentions. I have fought Xiayou players that play solid Tekken, and I have fought Asuka and leroy players that flowchart annoying stuff. Some characters have tools that are more easily abused, but it really is in the player’s intentions. I know you stated that your tools should be used and not be considered cheap, but that depends. What do players have to gain by taking advantage of their opponent? Ego points? If we are at a tournament or at evo, by all means use every tool you have. But at least you have an understandable purpose. People that use any means necessary to win in an online game, especially, in casual, are somewhat contemptible. I dont take advantage of my opponents. Not doing so has made me strong, and this approach will make others strong as well
The funny thing about playing King (At the obscenely low level I play at) is that 80% of my matches are curb stomps. Either they can't deal with King's easy bullshit and can barely defend against tick throws and stuff, or they know ALL the easy bullshit and I actually gotta play neutral.
(Sidenote I just picked King cause I like how he looks, so I guess I got lucky here. Usually I get low tiers picking like that)
Good list, good placement overall, but saying that Reina is the easiest Mishima is just crazy to me, and no, I don't play her, in fact, I play Jin who I consider to be the actual easiest Mishima IMO.
Don't get me wrong, Reina certainly can be steamrolly, but that's beacause most ppl dont know the matchup well enough yet, She has a lot of weaknesses and I feel like the higher folks climb with her, the harder they have to work for the Ws
