I know this comment will look hella biased cuz of my Kazuya pfp, but hear me out. The thing you said about new Kazuya players only learning movement, EWGF, etc. and ignoring every other aspect of the game is super true and it reflects in the win rate statistics for mighty ruler and above. Meaning the stats say that if you dont have the fundamentals, the character will not do it for you. That means Kazuya is statisticaly the least carried character. And that stands seperated from your own grudge towards Kazuya players. (this is not a hate comment, i just want to make this clear.)

@@LotusAsakura Drag still requires fundies and matchup knowledge of his opponents, and needs to use quite a lot of his moves to be good. He has good frames and insane damage, but you cant cheese with him like everyone else, he still kinda honest character at high level, and easily punished with movement. Drag is a mix of earned it but has insane frames/damage. Only good players can abuse him properly.
as a Shaheen main, it doesn’t even matter if you’re opponent doesn’t know the matchup, because as soon as you duck to hit the slide you’re gonna get hop kicked, after that you better rely on your fundamentals or you’re fucked.
My people! I feel anytime you go up against an aggressive character it can be really hard to get any offense going with Shaheen unless you have good matchup knowledge or get lucky. It does feel great to get wall pressure on somebody with his new charge move and f2 3
You can say all that, but what does Asuka have that is really unfair? What crazy as high damage combo does she have that easily strings together and easily takes more than half lifebar and doesn't require rage or Heat to use? Yes all her strings are easy, but her normals are not super fast and she is primarily defensive character in a offense prioritizing game. I may not be the best Asuka player, hell that probably proves the point, because I have to work harder to get in, I have use more to get my damage, I have be very picky and choosy with my counters to get to take my turn. If the question is which characters carry most, it ain't Asuka because you are not immediately rewarded for learning how to play her.

I’ve hit a plateau. I will say, I understand that my losses are a fault of my own. Whenever I lose I don’t feel cheated. Well, unless I’m going up against a King player (yikes). Like you said, she’s a defensive character in an offensive game. With that said though she has some great counter moves if you can get a read on your opponent and know the gaps in your opponents strings.

Tekken God Prime ranks. People there I have fought are usually mashers. Asuka has good tools to counter mash, which would allow her to mash herself. So yeah, I could see that. But then again it is fault of aggressive people.

Truth is once you reach red ranks and higher, Asuka's glaring issues become apparent and creativity becomes essential as her basic tools have awful frame data and properties, her movement is some of the worst in the game, and her drip got nerfed to hell since tekken 5 (MOST IMPORTANT) Does she carry you through low ranks? Absolutely but when she hits that wall where people either really know their own character or have fought enough scrub Asukas to know how to deal with her strings and parries, it becomes very difficult to play the game at all.
First time playing tekken, I picked Steve as my main. It took me 5 weeks to get to red ranks, switch to Feng. Took me 2 days to get red ranked. I only know two combos, I just used and abused his low pokes. Feng is super easy lmao.

Well, my only opinion is that Xiaoyu deserves a tier of her own simply because you need 5 PHDs to get her to the point where she "plays the game for you", you can't just pick her up and do all the setups and things that allow her to carry. I'm speaking this from first hand experience as I tried to learn her.
I think he just sees them in upper ranks and gets knowledged checked HARD. Super weird seeing a character with four very different stances that you have to learn to be decent being put in "plays the game for you".
I don’t know what he meant by she’s a Mickey Mouse character too, she’s def not. She’s been strong in the game since early Tekken and she is known to be technical and hard to pick up
Raven is in the right place, he is a little like Hwoarang, the higher the level the more difficult it is to play with him, his game plan is to condition the opponent, and doing this at a high level is not easy at all, a lot of attacks he uses don't give him a real advantage, he plays a lot in reading what the opponent is going to do before or after his attack, so having a good read and timing ability is essential for this character, and doing this in high level where everyone knows the match-up is not easy at all
My mains in Tekken are Raven(I mainly use Raven because he resemble Naruto characters in his unorthodox fighting style approach and because he's very unique and authentic, he's my trump card back from T5) and I admit it that If you don't adapt to his matchup he can definitely be annoying to fight against him. Hwoarang and Jin( these two are like the symbol of Yin&Yang☯️ in my eyes, they were my mains when I was starting to play Tekken 3 for the first time many many years ago, I also like it to use Eddy Gordo as well because of his Capoeira style of fighting). My List of annoying characters that I don't like to encounter/face are: Jun, Victor, Azucena, Dragunov, Xiaoyu, King, Devil Jin, Reina(sometimes), Lars Leo, Bryan(sometimes), Yoshimitsu, Feng, Jack8, Nina, Alisa and Lili. So almost the entire roster I know... 🤷🏻♂️😅🙆🏻♂️✌️
I play Reina and Asuka, and yeah electrics used in actual fights eludes me still xD Reina has some very easy strings and a bunch of solid options that are easy to get tempted by, but the character will cut you off at the knee when you start getting too predicable as people grow wise to her antics very fast. I will say that playing her comes with the disadvantage that she's popular, people see her a lot so they know a bunch of her moves and what to watch out for.
I think the biggest issue with Yoshi and Xiaoyu (other than AOP being invincible) is that they are characters designed around having really oppressive mixups and setups, but their combo damage has been brought up to match everyone else if not surpass them in Tekken 8. So now you have two characters with insane neutral and ability to reset combos, but their combos still hit just as hard as everyone else and they get to keep all their strengths while getting rid of their "weaknesses." Then you have Steve who just... has good neutral and a lot of safe buttons but like... everyone has good neutral and safe buttons in T8, and Steve can't punish even normally launchable moves well
As a Reina main I can confirm, in a low to intermidian level she is pretty brain dead, but as soon you go up at the ranked leader you need to know how to wave dash and electric. I fooought a lot of Reinas that only do f,f, 2 sen and after you begging to SS them, they don't know what to do.
Lee and Kazuya are definitely working harder than most. Lee’s lows are slow and very minus on block and even minus on hit, his execution needed to maximize his punishment requires loads of practice, and his just frames are hard to pull off consistently.
As an Alisa player in Mighty Ruler rank, I've really not had to struggle too much to get there. A lot of people have no idea how to play against her, and the funniest thing is that every other Alisa player i've met has had their own unique twist and style to the character, which is completely unlike every other character in the game. Her weird gimmicky low/high unblockables etc. playstyle just means everyone plays her differently which makes it very difficult for people to get used to playing against her since 2 alisa players will use a completely different kit/style of combos. Definitely an easy character to climb with.
Hwoarang plays the game for you bro, he easy af to pick up but everyone hits a wall cause of fundamentals but you can get a decent rank by mashing with him

Almost all of the good moves they gave jin are minus on block, d2 is very minus at-14 if i remember correctly. If a player has fundamentals and you lose that’s actually a skill issue. As a jin main, his most overtuned move is ff2.
xiaoyu has almost no punisment game and her range is way more small... Try to play the character for a few days and then you will be able to find that she is a very very hard character to play with... Puttin her in your character wins game for you is actually stupid... Change your main to xiaoyu and you will feel her weakness a lot more.
As a Reina main I think that once you get to a certain level you do have to wavedash and electric but tbh her game plan of ff2 into sentai and hell sweep into heavens wrath can carry pretty hard.

Just Because you have no Idea how to fight her it's does not mean she easy. Her tools are very bad and limited, good Asuka players need to do extra work just so they can utilized her key moves. As a Jack Main I agree with your opinion with him being able to dominate lower Ranks with random stuff, but with him not having a low that launches or does more than 20 damage and not having a string that is spammable, i dont believe he belongs in the easy to mash with category

Definitely, at the higher levels I find Reina a nightmare to face off with, even as an Azu player. Much of her strings are safe if they know when to cancel it, and her toolkit is so much more expansive than most.
Maybe create a separate tier for Devil Jin like Dragunov, since I'd argue he isn't on the same bs as Xiayou and Jun, but has more going for him compared to Nina, Lars and Hworang. Also he's the case where he's a Mishima which is difficult to play, but once you know how to play him properly you can abuse his strengths.
Devil Jin: - Flies across the stage with an unsidesteppable heat smash that goes into his pressure - Tons of evasive escape options - When grounded can FLY up instantly mixing you up and getting his turn back - Only hellsweep in the game that leads to a full combo - A fast heatsmash grab and another flying unblockable grab that you have to be ready for - cancellable strings - High damage - Armor breaking charge attack that has a stepback and built in evasion This man is a street fighter character
As a lili main i can confidently say that she is literally in the middle, or probably the most ideal of a tekken character can be. She doesnt have a broken gimmick that allows you to abuse it but she can easily be mashed if you played her enough. Her low dmg in comparison too makes it even more stable for the evasive moves she has. In short, she's ideally mid.
Kazuya is easily the hardest character in the game and the rank win rate statistics proves this. At Mighty Ruler and above Kazuya has the worst rank win rate. Even at all skill level he's like bottom 5 win rate.
If Kazuya players were so good at fundamentals like they claim they are then that should probably carry them higher than Mighty Ruler cus I promise the majority of players in purple don't have fundamentals for the most part. Still a lot of strings, whiffs and lack of movement/punishment lol.

Frame of reference most “average” electrics are like 17 frames and that’s hard asl. 15 is insane ESPECIALLY on pad in the real world you’re throwing 18-19 frame electrics on a good day. Kazuya having to time an electric in a 2 frame window just to punish something that everybody else just d2’s makes him so much harder I don’t even play him and I know his ass is not carried in the slightest
Yoshi main here, im tenryu so I'm aight at the game. We are very definitely carried by our weird bullshit but I'd say it's more for lowrank. He does have a Lotta execution heavy things and once you don't have the gimmicks he's not particularly strong i think. He has alot of trouble opening up turtle opponents just because of a lack of tools.
24:46 Thing about her, chainsaws aren't the only good thing about her. She likes to poke you around and play neutral. She has nice tools for it, like for example df4, db3, d3 (and is -3 if you space it well) and df1. Overall, she just loves to annoy you, chainsaws or not.

As a Lili main, I do agree that we're really not in the earned it tier nor easy to mash. This iteration of her in this game gave her more options to transition into her stances but at the same time is still plagued by her slow, predictable, and very punishable attacks. The only thing we're being carried at is her range, while still being linear in almost all of her moves, her movement, and also combo damage. All else, we got to work hard to keep opponents on their toes.

Mighty Ruler Kaz here, I played jin and hit tenryu in about an hour. With kaz it took days to get to ruler. With king it took a couple hours to hit ruler
As a Hwa player in tekken god, i do agree to the placement. Trying to learn the stances and to use them at will without mashing can be hard. And many new players might have trouble matching up with a Hwa player. Gimmicks do get the players up to around red rank and hit that wall hard as whiff punish for Hwa is brutal XD

counterargument for why asuka should be easy to mash with: 1.) she gets out of jail for free with panic moves in a game where people are always mashing 2.) shes only hard if her opponent knows how to keep her out and most people dont play the match up that way. they block (or not) and then throw out a random panic move. 3.) by your definition- you have an easy time with her and then you hit a wall. (when you get to the ranks where people have played that matchup for years.)
How does Ling play the game for you? She has 3 stances that you have to use for mixups to even be an option for you. And you literally can’t button mash in any of the stances.
Oh just go watch some Mr.Croft’s videos! Obviously she carries him a lot. /s However, she only truly shines in capable hands. Ling can do some real dirt. In his recent 30m+ vid. he did some REALLY dirty stuff to some Hwoarangs. Even though I love her, her combo damage might be a bit too high for what she’s capable of. She can eat over 100hp with heat and there are refloat options for some of her combos. Her wall damage is devastating if applied properly. Her oki is still top notch. She truly is an S rank character, but if you’re an S rank player, she can be a triple S tier
Trying to hit Xiaoyu with anything other than a low or a tracking move will be your downfall. She's kinda hard i aint gonna lie but people wont hit you if you play Xiaoyu

Yea only higher levels can he really be annoying. If you don't know what your doing he'll hit those slides and you'll get countered hard if you cant time into his slides and rolls etc.

As a shaheen main, 1 of 10 world wide lol. He isn’t carried. He does have a few mix ups where they guess if you’re going to slide or hop kick. Besides that he is very honest. Doesn’t have particularly good strings, and very short move list.

It’s just that, Tekken is a complex game with a plethora of moves and options happening in a match. Boils down to you and/or your opponents knowledge on the character you or them are faced.
I’d say I agree with most of the list, but Reina being in a row with victor, azucena, jun etc is definitely not right to me. I’ve played a few different characters, and I’d definitely say Reina is the hardest character I’ve tried to play. Maybe I just don’t have hands, but playing her and having to put in 10x more effort, doing so many different things just to lose to a bear player who’s drooling on his controller or a loser playing Alisa and spam teabagging and taunting 24/7 is incredibly frustrating to the point I actually dropped the character and won’t pick her back up until the balancing improves. Till then imma play Leo or smthn idk
It boils down to character knowledge. There’s a solution to every problem in this game. It’s just that this game is so vast in the learning department. Steep learning curve but all the tools are there. You have to lab lab lab if you wanna get far in this game. It’s a forever learning experience.

oh im a little surprised with Jin's placement, I thought he would be placed at least on easy to mash with or even gimmicks but yea you're kinda right. Even with moves like D2, F4, they're strong moves but I do find myself fundamentally playing the game more than just pressing buttons mindlessly. I haven't played that much ranked yet cuz I just got the game but playing against my friends, Im not really spamming any strings or anything and im actually paying attention to what theyre doing and how they think. Jin feels like a decently honest character

Lili's way more fundamentally strong than big flip to win 3+4 mashing she used to be. So I think she's in that Blazblue Jin form of high tier where her kit is good by design but the player knows what they're doing. Its not like Devil Jin where you get unreactable pressure the better your execution is.

Thank you. Hwoarang is easy to mash with, yes. Hell, i won't deny his little mash strings have carried my ass to warrior. Still, once opponents can competently block, Hwoarang has a hard time unless you REALLY learn how to actually do strings with him that isn't just 4,4,4,4 and the other basic strings he has. Lower ranks just isn't used to his more snowball style of constantly trying to attack with strings, but if they don't know anything else than basic strings, they become so predictable

Crazy enough im a battle ruler with Nina so far, and most mirror matches I’ve come across they barely utilize her in neutral and SS1 properly. But to put her in the gimmicks category 😭😭😮💨 you can’t survive pressing sh*t with Nina in purple ranks and so forth

As a Hwoarang guy, we deserve our own tier 😅 Hwoarang can be very punishable because he’s another pressure/stance character. Have one leg up too long and not knowing multiples flow charts which he’s one of the best at and getting stuck in a stance can cause you a lot of matches. As a Jun secondary, I can confirm. It’s so much easy to win with the best pokes in the game and her neutral game is top tier as well. Like he said ALWAYS go for the 1+2 throw break 😅
So I fell in love with Leroy when he launched in the last game. Then he got nerfed and everyone was waiting for me to drop him… Then I found out he’s in 8 and I’ve been steadily climbing with him ever since. I love my Leroy. No one is taking this man from me

As a fellow yoshi main i have to say that youre right, but in higher ranks u get destroyd if u dont know fundamentles. U have to learn about his frame traps and at some point to use his gimmicks right and not just spam with it
If I could summarize Steve Fox in one word, it would be just; *[SOLID]* He's got good pokes, he's got good counters, he doesn't have kicks but he can make up for it, and the few he has have a few uses. He's got strong maneuverability and lateral movement from his ducks. But, as someone who STARTED with Tekken 8, you can very easily look like an idiot just spamming his "ONETWOTHREEFOUR". His stances are tricky but useful, and he has a couple of really entertaining mashups (Hwoarang, King, etc). If you put in the work, Steve becomes an insanely solid tool, a respectable pick, and a powerful option. But you've gotta put in the work. And that's part of why I love it.
As a Lili main the wall is real, like I feel like it's only so much to learn and it's up to the player how you start matches then mix up so yea we earn that shit😤

I kinda just assumed that anyone who plays a Mishima can wave dash and electric, etc. Spends an hour practicing execution everyday and has match up knowledge on every single character. And that if I wake them up out of the blue and ask for frame data they will have all the answers

I know this comment will look hella biased cuz of my Kazuya pfp, but hear me out. The thing you said about new Kazuya players only learning movement, EWGF, etc. and ignoring every other aspect of the game is super true and it reflects in the win rate statistics for mighty ruler and above. Meaning the stats say that if you dont have the fundamentals, the character will not do it for you. That means Kazuya is statisticaly the least carried character. And that stands seperated from your own grudge towards Kazuya players. (this is not a hate comment, i just want to make this clear.)

He has good frames and insane damage, but you cant cheese with him like everyone else, he still kinda honest character at high level, and easily punished with movement. Drag is a mix of earned it but has insane frames/damage. Only good players can abuse him properly.
as a Shaheen main, it doesn’t even matter if you’re opponent doesn’t know the matchup, because as soon as you duck to hit the slide you’re gonna get hop kicked, after that you better rely on your fundamentals or you’re fucked.

You can say all that, but what does Asuka have that is really unfair? What crazy as high damage combo does she have that easily strings together and easily takes more than half lifebar and doesn't require rage or Heat to use? Yes all her strings are easy, but her normals are not super fast and she is primarily defensive character in a offense prioritizing game. I may not be the best Asuka player, hell that probably proves the point, because I have to work harder to get in, I have use more to get my damage, I have be very picky and choosy with my counters to get to take my turn. If the question is which characters carry most, it ain't Asuka because you are not immediately rewarded for learning how to play her.

I’ve hit a plateau. I will say, I understand that my losses are a fault of my own. Whenever I lose I don’t feel cheated. Well, unless I’m going up against a King player (yikes). Like you said, she’s a defensive character in an offensive game. With that said though she has some great counter moves if you can get a read on your opponent and know the gaps in your opponents strings.

People there I have fought are usually mashers. Asuka has good tools to counter mash, which would allow her to mash herself. So yeah, I could see that.

Truth is once you reach red ranks and higher, Asuka's glaring issues become apparent and creativity becomes essential as her basic tools have awful frame data and properties, her movement is some of the worst in the game, and her drip got nerfed to hell since tekken 5 (MOST IMPORTANT) Does she carry you through low ranks? Absolutely but when she hits that wall where people either really know their own character or have fought enough scrub Asukas to know how to deal with her strings and parries, it becomes very difficult to play the game at all.
First time playing tekken, I picked Steve as my main. It took me 5 weeks to get to red ranks, switch to Feng. Took me 2 days to get red ranked. I only know two combos, I just used and abused his low pokes.

Well, my only opinion is that Xiaoyu deserves a tier of her own simply because you need 5 PHDs to get her to the point where she "plays the game for you", you can't just pick her up and do all the setups and things that allow her to carry. I'm speaking this from first hand experience as I tried to learn her.
People are just salty, you can't put Xiaoyu and Jun or King in the same sentence.
I think he just sees them in upper ranks and gets knowledged checked HARD. Super weird seeing a character with four very different stances that you have to learn to be decent being put in "plays the game for you".

Raven is in the right place, he is a little like Hwoarang, the higher the level the more difficult it is to play with him, his game plan is to condition the opponent, and doing this at a high level is not easy at all, a lot of attacks he uses don't give him a real advantage, he plays a lot in reading what the opponent is going to do before or after his attack, so having a good read and timing ability is essential for this character, and doing this in high level where everyone knows the match-up is not easy at all
My mains in Tekken are Raven(I mainly use Raven because he resemble Naruto characters in his unorthodox fighting style approach and because he's very unique and authentic, he's my trump card back from T5) and I admit it that If you don't adapt to his matchup he can definitely be annoying to fight against him. Hwoarang and Jin( these two are like the symbol of Yin&Yang☯️ in my eyes, they were my mains when I was starting to play Tekken 3 for the first time many many years ago, I also like it to use Eddy Gordo as well because of his Capoeira style of fighting). My List of annoying characters that I don't like to encounter/face are: Jun, Victor, Azucena, Dragunov, Xiaoyu, King, Devil Jin, Reina(sometimes), Lars Leo, Bryan(sometimes), Yoshimitsu, Feng, Jack8, Nina, Alisa and Lili. So almost the entire roster I know... 🤷🏻♂️😅🙆🏻♂️✌️
I play Reina and Asuka, and yeah electrics used in actual fights eludes me still xD
Reina has some very easy strings and a bunch of solid options that are easy to get tempted by, but the character will cut you off at the knee when you start getting too predicable as people grow wise to her antics very fast.
I will say that playing her comes with the disadvantage that she's popular, people see her a lot so they know a bunch of her moves and what to watch out for.

I think the biggest issue with Yoshi and Xiaoyu (other than AOP being invincible) is that they are characters designed around having really oppressive mixups and setups, but their combo damage has been brought up to match everyone else if not surpass them in Tekken 8. So now you have two characters with insane neutral and ability to reset combos, but their combos still hit just as hard as everyone else and they get to keep all their strengths while getting rid of their "weaknesses."
Then you have Steve who just... has good neutral and a lot of safe buttons but like... everyone has good neutral and safe buttons in T8, and Steve can't punish even normally launchable moves well

As a Reina main I can confirm, in a low to intermidian level she is pretty brain dead, but as soon you go up at the ranked leader you need to know how to wave dash and electric. I fooought a lot of Reinas that only do f,f, 2 sen and after you begging to SS them, they don't know what to do.

Lee and Kazuya are definitely working harder than most. Lee’s lows are slow and very minus on block and even minus on hit, his execution needed to maximize his punishment requires loads of practice, and his just frames are hard to pull off consistently.
I think Xiaoyu is more of a gimmick char than plays it for you lol. I feel like most stance characters are gimmick characters.
As a law player, I have to agree with lotus. It gets harder to open people up the higher you go in ranked. So the dumb options come out 😂

As an Alisa player in Mighty Ruler rank, I've really not had to struggle too much to get there. A lot of people have no idea how to play against her, and the funniest thing is that every other Alisa player i've met has had their own unique twist and style to the character, which is completely unlike every other character in the game. Her weird gimmicky low/high unblockables etc. playstyle just means everyone plays her differently which makes it very difficult for people to get used to playing against her since 2 alisa players will use a completely different kit/style of combos. Definitely an easy character to climb with.
Hwoarang plays the game for you bro, he easy af to pick up but everyone hits a wall cause of fundamentals but you can get a decent rank by mashing with him

Almost all of the good moves they gave jin are minus on block, d2 is very minus at-14 if i remember correctly. If a player has fundamentals and you lose that’s actually a skill issue. As a jin main, his most overtuned move is ff2.
xiaoyu has almost no punisment game and her range is way more small... Try to play the character for a few days and then you will be able to find that she is a very very hard character to play with... Puttin her in your character wins game for you is actually stupid... Change your main to xiaoyu and you will feel her weakness a lot more.

Maybe create a separate tier for Devil Jin like Dragunov, since I'd argue he isn't on the same bs as Xiayou and Jun, but has more going for him compared to Nina, Lars and Hworang. Also he's the case where he's a Mishima which is difficult to play, but once you know how to play him properly you can abuse his strengths.

- Tons of evasive escape options
- When grounded can FLY up instantly mixing you up and getting his turn back
- Only hellsweep in the game that leads to a full combo
- A fast heatsmash grab and another flying unblockable grab that you have to be ready for
- cancellable strings
- High damage
- Armor breaking charge attack that has a stepback and built in evasion

As a lili main i can confidently say that she is literally in the middle, or probably the most ideal of a tekken character can be. She doesnt have a broken gimmick that allows you to abuse it but she can easily be mashed if you played her enough. Her low dmg in comparison too makes it even more stable for the evasive moves she has. In short, she's ideally mid.
Kazuya is easily the hardest character in the game and the rank win rate statistics proves this. At Mighty Ruler and above Kazuya has the worst rank win rate. Even at all skill level he's like bottom 5 win rate.
If Kazuya players were so good at fundamentals like they claim they are then that should probably carry them higher than Mighty Ruler cus I promise the majority of players in purple don't have fundamentals for the most part. Still a lot of strings, whiffs and lack of movement/punishment lol.

Frame of reference most “average” electrics are like 17 frames and that’s hard asl. 15 is insane ESPECIALLY on pad in the real world you’re throwing 18-19 frame electrics on a good day. Kazuya having to time an electric in a 2 frame window just to punish something that everybody else just d2’s makes him so much harder I don’t even play him and I know his ass is not carried in the slightest

Yoshi main here, im tenryu so I'm aight at the game. We are very definitely carried by our weird bullshit but I'd say it's more for lowrank. He does have a Lotta execution heavy things and once you don't have the gimmicks he's not particularly strong i think. He has alot of trouble opening up turtle opponents just because of a lack of tools.

As a Lili main, I do agree that we're really not in the earned it tier nor easy to mash. This iteration of her in this game gave her more options to transition into her stances but at the same time is still plagued by her slow, predictable, and very punishable attacks. The only thing we're being carried at is her range, while still being linear in almost all of her moves, her movement, and also combo damage. All else, we got to work hard to keep opponents on their toes.

With kaz it took days to get to ruler.

As a Hwa player in tekken god, i do agree to the placement. Trying to learn the stances and to use them at will without mashing can be hard. And many new players might have trouble matching up with a Hwa player. Gimmicks do get the players up to around red rank and hit that wall hard as whiff punish for Hwa is brutal XD

1.) she gets out of jail for free with panic moves in a game where people are always mashing
2.) shes only hard if her opponent knows how to keep her out and most people dont play the match up that way. they block (or not) and then throw out a random panic move.

How does Ling play the game for you? She has 3 stances that you have to use for mixups to even be an option for you. And you literally can’t button mash in any of the stances.

However, she only truly shines in capable hands. Ling can do some real dirt. In his recent 30m+ vid. he did some REALLY dirty stuff to some Hwoarangs. Even though I love her, her combo damage might be a bit too high for what she’s capable of. She can eat over 100hp with heat and there are refloat options for some of her combos. Her wall damage is devastating if applied properly. Her oki is still top notch. She truly is an S rank character, but if you’re an S rank player, she can be a triple S tier
Trying to hit Xiaoyu with anything other than a low or a tracking move will be your downfall. She's kinda hard i aint gonna lie but people wont hit you if you play Xiaoyu

I feel like if I mash random shit with Lars and go flipping and dipping all over the place, I'm more likely to get hit than get the hit so I'd rather take my time and learn the fundementals instead.
Yea only higher levels can he really be annoying. If you don't know what your doing he'll hit those slides and you'll get countered hard if you cant time into his slides and rolls etc.
Lars is one of those characters who should never be considered in the “mash” or the top tier, or even top tier at all, with how they have him now. Bro is so EZ to fight against, tougher the fight with but so much fun. Players who main him definitely find themselves attracted to the difficulty,
As a shaheen main, 1 of 10 world wide lol. He isn’t carried. He does have a few mix ups where they guess if you’re going to slide or hop kick. Besides that he is very honest. Doesn’t have particularly good strings, and very short move list.

Do you bro. F whoever has an issue. There’s a solution to every problem in this game. It’s more balanced than people would like to admit. It’s just that, Tekken is a complex game with a plethora of moves and options happening in a match. Boils down to you and/or your opponents knowledge on the character you or them are faced.

I’d say I agree with most of the list, but Reina being in a row with victor, azucena, jun etc is definitely not right to me. I’ve played a few different characters, and I’d definitely say Reina is the hardest character I’ve tried to play. Maybe I just don’t have hands, but playing her and having to put in 10x more effort, doing so many different things just to lose to a bear player who’s drooling on his controller or a loser playing Alisa and spam teabagging and taunting 24/7 is incredibly frustrating to the point I actually dropped the character and won’t pick her back up until the balancing improves. Till then imma play Leo or smthn idk

It boils down to character knowledge. There’s a solution to every problem in this game. It’s just that this game is so vast in the learning department. Steep learning curve but all the tools are there. You have to lab lab lab if you wanna get far in this game. It’s a forever learning experience.

oh im a little surprised with Jin's placement, I thought he would be placed at least on easy to mash with or even gimmicks but yea you're kinda right. Even with moves like D2, F4, they're strong moves but I do find myself fundamentally playing the game more than just pressing buttons mindlessly. I haven't played that much ranked yet cuz I just got the game but playing against my friends, Im not really spamming any strings or anything and im actually paying attention to what theyre doing and how they think. Jin feels like a decently honest character

@@_slyph maybe for nina and hwoarang(at low levels), but lars doesn't even have any spammable strings and alot of his stance stuff is minus so it was accurate of lotus to say that he's more carried by the opponents lack of match up knowledge.

Lili's way more fundamentally strong than big flip to win 3+4 mashing she used to be.
So I think she's in that Blazblue Jin form of high tier where her kit is good by design but the player knows what they're doing.
Its not like Devil Jin where you get unreactable pressure the better your execution is.
I feel like you personally just struggle a lot with Reina players...factually she doesn´t carry anyone, her winrate is by far the worst across any skill level

Only the worst in low ranks, in advanced she's doing a bit better. There was a post on Reddit showing stats. TMM made a video on it 2 weeks ago.

Thank you. Hwoarang is easy to mash with, yes. Hell, i won't deny his little mash strings have carried my ass to warrior. Still, once opponents can competently block, Hwoarang has a hard time unless you REALLY learn how to actually do strings with him that isn't just 4,4,4,4 and the other basic strings he has. Lower ranks just isn't used to his more snowball style of constantly trying to attack with strings, but if they don't know anything else than basic strings, they become so predictable

Hwoarang can be very punishable because he’s another pressure/stance character. Have one leg up too long and not knowing multiples flow charts which he’s one of the best at and getting stuck in a stance can cause you a lot of matches.

It’s so much easy to win with the best pokes in the game and her neutral game is top tier as well.

As a fellow yoshi main i have to say that youre right, but in higher ranks u get destroyd if u dont know fundamentles. U have to learn about his frame traps and at some point to use his gimmicks right and not just spam with it

If I could summarize Steve Fox in one word, it would be just; *[SOLID]*
He's got good pokes, he's got good counters, he doesn't have kicks but he can make up for it, and the few he has have a few uses. He's got strong maneuverability and lateral movement from his ducks. But, as someone who STARTED with Tekken 8, you can very easily look like an idiot just spamming his "ONETWOTHREEFOUR". His stances are tricky but useful, and he has a couple of really entertaining mashups (Hwoarang, King, etc).
If you put in the work, Steve becomes an insanely solid tool, a respectable pick, and a powerful option. But you've gotta put in the work. And that's part of why I love it.
As a Lili main the wall is real, like I feel like it's only so much to learn and it's up to the player how you start matches then mix up so yea we earn that shit😤
Thanks for validation on how I feel about the current state of the game. For a game with a large base roster it felt odd that I only ever encountered the same 9 characters on ladder
I kinda just assumed that anyone who plays a Mishima can wave dash and electric, etc. Spends an hour practicing execution everyday and has match up knowledge on every single character. And that if I wake them up out of the blue and ask for frame data they will have all the answers
