Another tip for newcomers: Before you visit engineers or super popular systems, switch to solo play until you are ready for a fight. Gankers and griefers spend all their time near engineer stations. With their fully engineered ships, you don't stand a chance in your sidewinder.

What is Engineers or what are “super” popular systems? I’ve been playing on solo play the entire time now.
@@doursen by super popular I just mean systems that a lot of players visit. Like Sol, for obvious reasons, and Shinrarta Dezhra. because it's the home of the pilots federation.
Engineers are places where you can go to upgrade your components. Where you can unlock overcharged shields and weapons and such. Different engineers specialize in different things. Honestly, you'll have to look them up. There is waaayy to much to talk about in one comment here.
I can never NOT mis-hear "Frame shift drive charging..." as "Friendship drive charging...". Now you can enjoy this, too :)

I literally do none of this. I'm a very chilled player and the freedom to do what you want on this game is never highlighted enough. I just land on moons and take off again. I create my own relationships in each station and mentally remember that I have a wife and child in the R.A System. And I never carry weapons as I just do transport missions. Commoditie trading etc. Buy low sell high. I use an online guide for that and I plan multi drops. I end up very busy haha. Feels like an honest job. Eventually I'll be able to buy a big ship for me and my made up family. I did recently obtain the sol pass and about 2 years ago I thought I'd never get it but decided to grind it out. I'm glad I did. However how I feel like I don't dare leave sol as it's too amazing. They did such a great job on this game. I play on xbox one. Can't wait for odyssey

The fuel rats saved me I was about 150 ly away from any station without a fuel scoop because I'm new and inexperienced. Well I had someone fueling me up in under 3 mins
I just got the game and I’m curious are fuel rats everywhere and are they even still here
@@boundlessmatter4361 Yep there are links online and they will give you Instructions to follow. Most can jump over 50 ly at a time so it usually doesn't take long for them to get to you. I recommend getting a fuel scoop though

@@boundlessmatter4361 Give it some time. Do transportation missions and mining stuff and you will start to get a hang of it. You will eventually get an invite from an engineer. That's when things start to speed up

I am very new to ED and the amount of work community has done to make the experience more fun, immersive and everything is just... astounding really. You cannot find something like this in any other game.
That's a game review. You can't find anything like this in any other game because other games stand on their own and provide some fun and purpose. People have fun simply playing them and don't have to put so much effort to make the experience bearable.
Just something I thought of, stations always have adverts plastered over them - so why can't Fleet carrier owners open up their vessel to advertising for a bit of income to help with the collosal upkeep?

Neither did I after 5 years thousands upon thousands of LY in the black 🤯 There have been several expeditions I ended early due to crashes...
I got my SRV completely stuck in some debris while out on the periphery of the Bubble once. I considered relogging into non-Horizons mode or self-destructing, but opted to call the Hull Seals instead. So glad I did!
The Seal arrived in just a couple minutes, nudged his ship into position, and popped me out of the handle like a pro. It was amazing!

Yes, but in my opinion will be a lot more "simple" in the form: don't get me wrong, this is not a bad thing, because I personally believe that star citizen's developers are trying to do something that probably is too complicated in terms of content and they tried to do multiple tasks instead of focusing in few things (like core mechanics and less explorable planets but with more content).
I would be really happy to get something like this.

Omg I'm so overwhelmed! I had known about Elite Dangerous for many years but I though it was just an arcade type shooting game in space. I had no idea it was this complex! I just got ED for free on epic games and this video popped up in my subscriptions so i thought I'd take a look at it and now I'm so intimidated to play it. But also super excited cuz I love astrophysics :)

You really don't need to feel intimidated. You can learn at a steady pace and accomplish loads whilst doing that and once you've learned stuff, you can start to learn more. Get used to flying your ship and doing a few missions - trade and combat - then start to upgrade to a better ship and think about engineering to improve it even more.
Regarding Engineering, a word to the wise: most people, when starting on engineering, go for the obvious first choice, which is to upgrade their FSD for bigger jump range. To do that, you need to go to the Deciat system and griefers/gankers know this! Make sure you go into Solo mode when visiting this system to avoid the knuckle-draggers until a time as you can at least have a chance to defend yourself.

To play E:D you either have to love The Black, as they called it in Star Trek, or love grinding for hours upon hours, without end. I'm coming from the first group, and there are days I wish I belonged to the second.

@ ED has a sort of half cross-play. Every player across platforms affects the same universe in real time. However, you can only see/interact with players that are on the same platform and not in solo mode.
Won't happen until ms/sony stop being deustchbags about patching

It's so amazing... Give people a mile and they'll make a lightyear. I love how players integrate themselves into this reality, how neat.
Also worth noting is Mobius, who provide a PVE Co-op Experience for Elite: Dangerous.
All it can take is one rather nasty person to come blow you up for no reason and set you back quite a bit, and we as humans have this thing called 'negativity bias.' If you don't wanna fight other players, or would rather avoid getting ganked while still having some form of Open play, check 'em out
Don't get into any stranger's fleet carrier...
On my first day back after a two year break I read about that event on GALNET and thought it was a joke because I didnt know players could get fleet carriers now. Only found out later that people were actually doing that when someone invited my friend (who I convinced to get the game) onto their ship. “Oh sweet, these guys are gonna hook me up with free mining gear”
I laughed way too much at this, I'm dying hahahaha

I haven’t played in over a year and just came back for the greatly increased bounty voucher payouts. I made 25 mil in around two hours. Maybe I’ll get a fleet carrier....in a year or two
The fuel rats really helped save me years ago..i'll never forget it!
New player here. I finally caved and got it for £6 on sale. Finally hearing about getting space legs made me get it. Although i like the realism, No Mans Sky had way more to do so hopefully Odyssey can bring that flavour in too.

@Tony Stark in terms of realism, yes. But in terms of creativity, exploration and world variation, absolutely not. It’s also much more complicated to really get started. I do like it though.
@Tony Stark i believe it will get better when the Odyssey expansion comes out. But as it is now, i do still play No Man’s Sky more.
@Tony Stark yea it’s called horizons, i managed to get that dlc with the game for £6 all together. That’s another thing that makes NMS a bit better, it has free dlc.

So I just got into E:D I've figured out how to navigate 4 and more systems ahead using the galaxy map, plotting routes avoiding hazards, like super cruising or hyper jumping near a star... yeah that's not good. Also figured out when you are silent, don't attempt to move. I am on an Xbox One X. If you're knew and can figure out how the star system routes works, do the courier missions first and upgrade your sidewinder. Don't worry about buying a new one. The next few ships won't even compare at first and the loaners are good enough for those missions. I had almost 200k in 6 missions mostly going from space station to space station. Maybe I got a lucky roll, idk how the game works just yet. Seems really fun and I'm glad I went through the tutorial!

For some reason, I've started seeing Elite Dangerous videos in my recomendation for 2 month now. Not gonna lie, it get me hyped :D Don't know what to expect but i love space oriented content and the views from what i seen in many videos are awesome. Currently at 40% download. :D :D
I've been gaming for a very long time on console and PC and I can't remember ever looking forward to an update, expansion, Title like am for Elite Dangerous Odyssey. ED is tight and complete as it is now and if they do LEGS as well as they done everything else so far...this is going to be a WOW moment. Star Citizen is showing improvement towards completion but I just know Frontier has GOT this and "Can't Wait" for this game changer.
Came back to ED yesterday after spending a day and a half getting my HOTAS set back up after a 4 year absence. I thought I was going to have to just re-learn what I’d forgotten, never mind re-learn the stuff that’s completely changed.

Margonite yeah, just go to alpha centuri and look for Hudson orbital. When you get there, then you should get a cutscene of an anaconda coming out of the security docking bay. It looks really cool! Also make sure to pick up a mug or two whilst you are there!

I just got the game the other day since I was told it was close to No Man's Sky and EVE. Have been loving the game! Currently I'm grinding Exploration with my Cobra through Road to Riches so I can buy an Anaconda.
The only thing I'm lost on atm - Is what to do next and the "middle" to "end game" purpose.

More I search the more I get hyped, excited and fascinated about the game. This is pretty much realistic and next level game.
My friends and I started playing today. One of my friends had to call the Fuel Rats 3 times. I haven’t figured out how to land on planets yet, which led to me abandoning a mission and now owing 70k to a faction (can’t remember the name). I have 8 hours already and I love it. Definitely gonna play this game for a long time.
At its simplest, Supercruise Assist will try to put you into orbit around the planet, then you just have to wait until the station is ahead and point your ship at it when the angle to the station is around 60 degrees. Too steep and you'll see red warnings and have to back off for another approach, to shallow and you have to wait while you fly at slow sub orbital speeds. The docking computer will do the actual final landing just like at a space station.
After trying to run SC on my 2 grand beast, (And failing) it's time to check ED out!
Elite Racers: Elite dangerous racing club and Elite Pirates provide a lot of likely minded people to some other type of activities. Also Fleetcomm HQ is pretty good community.
I'm having so much fun with Odyssey... I just picked it up the other day...

FYI about those fleet carriers do not land on them if you’re a new player because your permit to go back to your beginner stations will be revoked instantly and permanently.
As a former Elite Dangerous player. Take a blank piece of paper. Then take a pencil and draw a line very very very slowly, from one side to the other. That's the basic thrill of Elite Dangerous.

I have an idea for you. Do a new player Q&A format series, where you answer questions posed 1 to 2 weeks ago. For example, how do you scoop fuel? I think after 20 to 30 stars I've figured it out, but for all I know there's a much better way. Another example is where and how to buy drones. This 1 i think I researched enough an hour ago, but can't try till I get home.
I frequently find things like, here's how to use the drones, but how to get them was clear as mud, and I had to dig through Reddit a while.
I'm sure your viewers will have plenty of fodder for you remembering what they found confusing when they started...

As a console player I don't get Odyssey yet. But I'll take this time to learn. I'm currently trying to get some guardian tech. The Thargoids following that one ship makes me think they may attack Sol. Now I'm an Empire player but I definitely want to protect the cradle of humanity. Im really excited about being able to run around with my own legs and shoot a rifle.

I can't wait for Bucky Ball Racing to organize a triple race. Fly a ship 1,500 light years, land the ship on a moderate gravity planet at a particular location, deploy an SRV and drive it a serious distance to another specific location, get out on foot and walk/run/jump a goodly distance of foot to get to a final location.
OBSIDIAN - i dont even play ED. But i have listened and watched your videos for years now. Ed is just too interesting even if i dont play.

I recently purchased Elite Dangerous while it was on sale on steam after hearing about odyssey (After following star citizen development for the last 5 or so years) , but i don't actually plan on playing until Odyssey comes out.
Ship interiors, a simulated economy, and procedural generated things to do. Both in the bubble and out.
Honestly I just wanna know what I'm supposed to be doing. Is it just exploration? Hauling? Mining? Fighting? Where and when do I do these things??
Also if your curious about the game, basically it's a space exploration sim is the best way I can describe it. There's really nothing else quite like it, at least on Xbox.
Just started elite over the weekend in part because I randomly found this channel last week. So much detail I hopped out and just chilled in the tutorial all weekend. Tutorial isn't very helpful lol. I enjoy the game tho. This channel helps a ton.
Just bought a thrusmaster full kit x for my series x. This game came to mind as I've never even tried it. Just got the game digitally for 7$
Are there large scale pvp battles with big ships and something like that?
If your a new player I’d suggest honestly sitting in a station and joining some multi crews bounty hunting for a hour or 2 I made like 10 mill when I did it when I was new it’s a real helper also helps you get better at flying and combat so a bonus
To me it has a hell of a learning curve. Luckily I have a couple friends who's played for a while before I joined so I was shown the ropes without too much trial and error. Its really an awesome game once you learn how to do a lot if the things the game has you do, even as small as they may seem
Same for me my friend just spent 30 minutes teaching me how to pick things up with the scoop!
I also came back yesterday haven't played in like 2 yrs and hmm for some reason i can't bookmark anything like i used to be able to just by clicking on em, bookmark but it legit does nothing now. I play on xbox.

I come and go fairly often from ED. I never really know what to do however, so I do my own thing for awhile till I tire of it then move onto another game. I do keep coming back though. Playing alone is part of my issue, and not really knowing what I could or should be doing is the other.
