    The routing instructions for the approach were crazy. So many changes in a short time with almost opposite heading directions. You had to work a lot on that flight. Well done.

      The companies I work for used to have a jet. I’m the only pilot. I wish we had a TBM. They are almost jet speeds with much more efficient operating costs. If they had listened to me we would still have a plane.

    Yes, call on the ground on a vfr day in socal. “Clearance void if not if within x minutes.” That’s perfect with that many planes in and entering the pattern and that many waiting to depart. That wouldn’t create an issue at all. Never been anywhere that I’ve been told that by a controller fortunately but good on you for professionalism nonetheless.

    • @mkleczynski
      @mkleczynski  5 месяцев назад

      Probably would have been fine just getting the route on the ground and still departing VFR. Lesson learned.

      @@mkleczynski you probably would have, and I understand the controller being busy. It’s just so much easier picking it up in the air at a busy non-towered with that much traffic.

    Were you supposed to call the 800 number before takeoff? Were you put on hold at the 800 number and it ran into your departure time? How much lead time do you need on the 800 number before you get an answer?

    • @mkleczynski
      @mkleczynski  5 месяцев назад

      Ideally I would have at least called the 800 number on the ground for the routing, lesson learned. The reason I don't pick up my clearance on the ground is usually there are 5-6 jets waiting for their release and it could be up to an hour waiting.

    Also, I like your radio calls before entering runway 17, for whatever reason it bothers me to hear the word “taking”, prefer your method or the word “entering”

    Split your MFD, use the right side for traffic, set to 12 mile in the takeoff phase, that will give you a good awareness of anybody broadcasting, or identified to help you scan pre-takeoff, also good for the departure corridor.
    Also, make sure to include a landing light test on the lights prior to taxi.

    • @mkleczynski
      @mkleczynski  5 месяцев назад +1

      Do you mean the gear check? Sometimes do that off camera to save time but ALWAYS on my checklist. Wouldn’t be fun debugging whether light is out or gear hasn’t gone down for sure.

    • @Jimmer-tr6bi
      @Jimmer-tr6bi 5 месяцев назад

      @@mkleczynski Yes sir, but I recognize either missed it, or it was done off camera, just bringing it up for an awareness issue, but seems like you’ve got it

    Bad controlling. Half my flights are out of uncontrolled airports and I never have a problem. I have even flown out of TRM and picked up clearance in the air. That auto throttle looks like a game changer.

      To his credit, it was fairly busy. I at least should have gotten the routing on the ground. And the AT is fantastic in this aircraft. So much workload reduction.
