The Patriot Act was one of the most important shows / sources of information during its run. I miss the immense value that it provided citizens and the way it strengthened democracy and kept people informed. It was a milestone in broadcasting. It deserved all the Peabodys and Emmys. I miss it. The network might have bowed to Saudi murderers or whatever the reason was for canceling the show, but we are all worse off as Americans for it.
Yup. No matter how much of a slant/bias Hasan had on any given topic, he did a fantastic job keeping it mostly unbiased and well done, unlike most of the other big shows out there like Last Week Tonight which started great and quickly devolved into clear mainstream parroting.
@@iman213f3 Idk exactly where he started. If I had to guess, probably New York comedy clubs. I believe his big break was The Daily Show, tho. That's what I consider to be his start.
@@ilmari23from an x's and o's point of view, he definitely can be a good coach but coaching is not just about making the right play, but there's also the handling of the players and doing good substitutions at the right time and the enormous amount of media attention he'll get as a Lakers coach will be difficult for him to handle at least during his first year. He needs time and time is not good his friend right now.
@@prajwalkrishnabhat5539 also it's easier to critique something versus being in the moment and making that decision. Obviously that's all up for debate when he does his first year and hopefully more. Also his approach and commitment to that approach will be interesting. You'll notice that the Celtics had a very granular and systematic approach. That relentless commitment to the miniscule details and getting everyone on board for the ride must be near impossible. Let alone not getting the right players and stuff like that or imagine being the coach of the Nuggets right now. Losing all their key role players, how do you deal with that realistically? Unfortunately he's a celebrity who will be analysed relentlessly with a mediocre overall team. Good luck to him though! He's definitely no push over.
Showing JJ that app was really great actually. Thats super good for coaching. He asked about screen sharing because he can have his whole coachomg staff have ipads and they can all draw plays up and each other see them without having to actual walk over and show the play.
JJ , laker nation support you brotha! Hopefully you do great!! Lakers can't be firing coaches left n right, we need someone who can coach and hopefully you are it !!!

One of the highest quality productions out there, Hasan. Your research, writing and questions, and charisma just elevates this meld of your passions above other institutions. Including the likes of ESPN and the athletic 🎉
I couldn’t help but notice the painting in the background (21:19) -a stranded wooden sailboat navigating through turbulent waters, all while an enormous basketball looms overhead like a misplaced sun. What kind of drugs are people on these days & who made this masterpiece.
It’s a gem to see for production employees to venture into youtube. There’s something unique in their content which really brought me back watching tv on a cable!
HEY HASAN, first time on you channel.. I loved everything about this & would kill for a part 2 with JJ or any other NBA player. 10/10 Video my man! (The last sponsor may be bothered by the after the show ad, but it still made the video - hate the game, not the players!!)
X^2 is still exponential growth for the same portion of real positive numbers. Yes you’re technically right but it’s at most a pedantic distinction since x^2 is an exponentially growing expression over the same range.
This was pure gold. Enjoyed all of it. You were a great host in allowing the conversation (the thoughts) to flow. JJ did his thing and you capitalized on that! LOVED IT!
Really enjoyed the conversation. Just enough technical stuff without me feeling dumb and just enough everyday topics/observations to keep me entertained!
Very refreshing episode. Makes me not feel alone in regards to how little I knew about basketball. Also as a Lakers fan get excited for what is to come.
One of the best basketball interviews of all time. Great job HM. Even though I disagree with some of your politics, your talent in comedy and entertainment is impeccable.
I liked the Obama interview and the Lina Khan interview was awesome. I came back to watch this interview and now I'm subscribed. Would love to see you interview Mark Cuban. I know he's campaigning for Kamala actively, and I think he wants that SEC chair position.
It’s not just his intelligence, it’s his experience. He was The Man at a historic basketball college, a 15-year veteran that played important minutes on for both lousy and championship caliber teams. Plus, he’s coaching in the same league he was just playing in. He’s not that removed from how the game is being played that today
Well here is another idea. Having a camera on the ceiling or something that could be able to zoom in from above the ipad so we'll have a clear "diaporama" like shot
If he is using an iPad or another device there is no need… they can just screen cast it to any output device and it will respond to what he does on his device (zooming etc.).

That Kawhi shot was the real splitting point between Joel/Ben.. joel did cut him off and Ben looked ticked off. JJ was being nice here but Joel made a massive mistake here and made the shot possible.
Hasan, I wouldn't say this (Mind the Game) hasn't been done befjore. Kobe's Detail was analytical too (though not to the level as Mind the Game). That said, what JJ does is, he does what HE wants, and typically, there's an audience for anything. RUclips shows that. Any rabbit hole of a topic exists. I respect JJ for that. It's not solely about feeding the masses with content but doing content that you are passionate about. But what he really wants is to go back into the trenches and use that brain as a coach. Clearly as he pursued this. So though I will miss his presence in the media world, congrats JJ!
I loved “Old Man & The Three”. What funny is I hated the JJ & Lebron pod cause it felt like College film room again. Makes sense the normal viewer loved it tho.
Listen I wish jj redick was still doing podcasts cuz I want to listen to his takes on the group stages of the usa men's and women's bball at the Olympics 😢
Another problem with aau is that it imposes a financial barrier, basketball is slowly becoming a sport that is not accessible for people of lower income. This is messing up the talent pool.
I've been watching Thinking Basketball for a while. They are great at analyzing numbers and why certain numbers matter, what some numbers actually mean when you are watching the games. When Mind the Game came out I found it was a whole different type of analysis than any other channel/podcast because it was all about plays and basketball tactics at the NBA level.
I love how it's Hasan pitches this as him doing bits, but then suckers people into actually learning about basketball (realized this at the 14:40 mark). Also Hasan, if you ever see this, been a long time fan once I realized you are like me: went UCD, into sneakers, into NBA bball, and an all around dork.
Hasan, missed opportunity at the end of that Ziprecruiter commercial for you to pick up the phone when it rings and say loudly, “NO!” CALLBACK, BABY!!!
See if you can spot the exact moment I realized I actually know nothing about basketball.
