  • Are the $50 e collars really a good deal? In this video I talk about comparing two cheaper e collars purchased off of amazon to the e collar technologies mini educator. While some of this video is entertaining, we wanted to take a look at e collars from a buyer's perspective that has no experience with e collars. Just a comparison from a first time buyers perspective. I want to thank my assistant that is new to dog training to give an honest opinion from a first-time buyer's perspective.

The testing was so funny! I've liked using a Dogtra 1902S for training field labs at a distance. It's such a clear signal. Remind people that you can't just slap an e-collar on your dog and go. Collar conditioning is needed. Ive seen these Mini Educator E Collars. I just hadn't got it first.

I am glad you enjoyed the video. I am in the process of filming for the membership section how we use the e collar for my working schutzhund dog. E collar training when done correctly can produce amazing results.

Someone needs to make one with protected / covered buttons, so you can carry it in your pocket with it accidentally going off.

I typically use a holster for my belt or hang it from the landyard and use the finger button.

Well this is great to know. I was looking at the Dogtra 280C and the price shocked me like the first collar 😂 (it's 282 CAD), but it's really nice to see actually those cheaper ones I was looking at side by side with the good ones. I think for now I'll just get my pup a proper HS prong collar (I'm currently using a nylon prong from PetSmart. Not sharp, still totally safe, but the nylon causes it to slip down too much). Maybe when he's older we'll come back to that subject, but right now he's doing great on the prong.
PS I found your video through a Google search "are e-collars worth it". First time viewer here.

Thank you so much for supporting the channel. I’m a fan of the HS prong collar and always start our dogs off with them first and later add an e collar after they understand their commands.
