Just wanted to stop by and say how wonderful this dogtra #nobaddogs edition is. I've been working with my GSD on the mini educator and have had butt loads of issues and got this dogtra in the mail today and we had an hour training session. NIGHT AND DAY. If anyone is in the market for one I'd seriously skip the other brand and at least go for the dogtra and i'd specifically recommend tom's because of the strap and features. #NOBADDOGS
Yeah I got mine in the mail today too actually. Wish I could say the experience had been better. Quite apparent that it would work well when it works. There just wasn't any consistency to my dog feeling the shock. Pretty sure the issue is his hair is too thick. So I just ordered the 3/4" replacement prongs, as a bunch of people said this helped with their thick haired dogs. So hopefully this brings some consistency. Will update in a couple days. Also, the magnet on/off system I think should be replaced. A push button on/off system would be better. With the current system, I get the collar turned on and then it turns itself off as I'm moving the handset away from the collar. It works to turn the collar on and off from about five inches away. If I have this on my waist band and my dog comes up to me, I could see this potentially turning off without the owners knowledge. Then what happens when your dog thinks that baby in the stroller looks like a tasty lunch and you can't buzz him off course?
Thank you Tom! More people need to be educated that e-collars are not bad. I had my deaf Pitbull trained to both hand signals and an e-collar so that I could get his attention no matter what. He was the best dog I've ever owned and was the only one of my dogs I fully trusted off leash anywhere even though he was deaf. I only ever used a level 2 on him for recall and he responded every single time no matter what distractions there were, and he loved children so taking him to the park was a joy. I used vibration setting with hand signals for other commands when he was not next to me. I would totally train another dog with an e-collar and think nothing of it.
With Zak George strongly pushing to have tools banned, it is fantastic to see more videos like this showing people exactly how they are ment to be used and how they should be conditioned. I feel many trainers like Zak only focus on the negative outcome due to wrongful use of a tool vice recognizing the good and seeing that dogs can still be happy and have a positive relationship. Positive reinforcement should always be the first thing. But a tool offers results that +R alone can't achieve as easily. Tools are not abusive unless you make it abusive. Train responsibly and have fun with your best friend. They don't care about the method so long as it's fair and they are enjoying their time.
Completely agree. My dog started with very r+ methods when she was a puppy. When she got to being around 8-10 months we realized she needed more accountability. Bought a prong collar and a dogtra e collar. She is now so nicely trained. Not saying she wasn’t trained before, but those tools helped to hold her known and practiced behaviors to a T. Plus she was worked regularly as a puppy, probably three thru five sessions daily. So don’t says she didn’t know how to do the behaviors and that is why she got e collared. Great tool
Absolutely agree! I used to like Zak's videos too as there are some great tips and I originally always start out that way. But at times tools can be so much help and definitely not painful or creating a negative bond but the complete opposite and the dog will be thankful in the end. Tom is amazing as he is incredibly open-minded showing and working in so many different ways and teaching how to use tools the right way. We had dogs with hunting instinct in the past one of them going missing in a forest running after a deer or bunny. They both had great recall, but not in that moment. It would have been so helpful to have such a collar back then to get his attention and avoid him running off and away. Several different situations where other tools properly used made such a difference in a very positive way that couldn't have been achieved with purely positive reinforcement.
George and his wife work for the Industry and do / $ay what they are told at this point - forget them. They are long gone. Edit, dogs don't live long enough to be afforded years of basic training. Why waste their lives with muddled clarity when it can be so easy and clear. A neighbour of mine has a Dane with lots of reaction issues; he will bark everytime he's out in the yard. The owner has installed shutters and a 9ft colorbond fence yet the barking continues. I can hear he's on a bark collar at times because his barking is stifled somewhat .. yet for yrs he's been nagged by his owner instead of given a single good stim or two to stop him, and us neighbours, leading miserable lives. This has been on-going since 2017 and I'm prepping for court.
Totally agree. I used to like Zak’s videos, but it seems like much of his information now is him just regurgitating science jargon that doesn’t consider real world scenarios. Tom’s video shows that an ecollar can be used in combination with positive training. I don’t think anyone who has felt one of these at a level 4-6 would consider it abusive to the dog. Yet, Zak would tell you it is, and give a scientific summary of why it is.
I just wanted to say how much of a breakthrough this dogtra e-collar has been for our reactive rescue dog. She really needed that extra tap on her shoulder to regain her focus and work through her insecurities. She already seems so much more calm and confident. Thank you SO MUCH Tom for all of your training videos. There truly are NO BAD DOGS! 🖤
I got the 280C Tom Davis edition and started training with my dog when he was 8 mo. Now at 15 months, my dog is frequently off leash when we go hiking and is very reliable on his recall, even when the collar isn't on. Thank you for all you do, sir!
Such a good introduction for e-collar training! It's the MOST humane thing for a dog - they are finally allowed to BE a dog and have FREEDOMS when off leash trained with the e-collar. They get more exercise, naturally get taken out more often by their owners, and can get so many more steps in than dogs that are restricted to a leash. Love it.
Excellent video. Sadly people opposed to Ecollars have no idea that they can be turned down and controlled. They only assume that they will only electrocute a dog. A lack of knowledge leads to more people getting that same lack of knowledge l thank you Tom for promoting proper training with the Ecollar. When my dogs see me get the ecollar out they get excited in a positive way and are ready to have fun. It is totally positive for them.
It also doesn't help that many tend to try the cheap models (no-brand import models) which have varying output for the same setting even within the same model line (poor calibration or QAQC process). I switched to the name-brand EZ Educator and found them to be way better in terms of consistency .. and yes, I do test them on myself. I'd assume the Davis line is much of the same.
After months of watching your videos and understanding E-collars I purchased one. It's nearly like magic. Once my dogs understood it was coming from me their behaviour changed. Also our relationship changed for the better. Thanks Tom for really breaking down the ecollars and teaching us what to do in every situation.
E collars and amazing but misunderstood tool, My Blue Heeler was trained with one and is an absolute soldier, at this point I rarely need it, It saved his life as well, Hiking at Mohonk he came face to face with a rattlesnake, and with a tap of the button and a place command he came to me and sat down between my legs.
I just started using one with a trainer to learn properly, definitely a game changer. I feel like I can tackle most situations with confidence as my dog was becoming somewhat reactive and it has really stopped that and helped him listen to me and help him understand it’s okay and to redirect that reactive anxiety.
My dog went to the beach yesterday. She was on her 15 foot long line and a Tom Davis dogtra 280c collar. She was amazing. She ignored all the people and the couple of other dogs we saw. She even ignored the little kids splashing in the water. She got to have her line dropped as we played fetch in a quieter part of the beach. She came back each time with the ball in her mouth. She was running maybe 40-65 feet away from me to fetch the ball. Her leash was dropped that whole time. The one time she decided to bring the ball near my family she got a nic at level four and a reminder to ‘bring it’. She turned right around and brought the ball right to me. She didn’t run to my family again. The reason I didn’t want her going to family is cause our game of fetch is where she has to bring it to the person who tossed the ball. This can eliminate her going to strangers to toss the ball when we are at a crowded area. But she rocked it. She also got to dig in the sand and was therefore super tired when we left the beach. Thank you Tom for such a great informative video on e collars. I never would have started it with my dog if I hadn’t have found your channel. I hope more people can say the same cause it is so nice to have the off leash (or very close to in my case) freedom with a well trained dog.
Thanks Tom. I've gone through 2 cheapo collars with no good effects, at least partly because I don't want to screw my dog up. Just ordered a Dogtra 280C (didn't know there was a Davis version) and this time am determined to do it right. My Schip is a very good girl almost all the time. But she's got the high energy, drive, willfulness and independence of a Schipperke in spades. Every once in a while she just completely blows me off. With the predators we have around here that is never OK.
Tom, your love for dogs is infectious. Thank you. Couple of practical questions: 1. Working level of stimulation. I own a dogtra 1900s and I’m assuming the levels are roughly similar to 280c. You mentioned you were at level 4 for working but you also mentioned “going higher” during distractions. Can you please share a process so we get the right level every time? How do we know if we are too high? Or not high enough? 2. Length of conditioning period. I appreciate that we are supposed to only use commands the dog already knows and sessions should be short. In this video you mentioned about two weeks of conditioning. You also used the test of three recalls with verbals and 4th without. First time I heard this and I can’t wait to test it tomorrow. So, is that a test we should do before every off leash session? Are there other tests that can increase confidence the dog is truly ready to be off leash? Should we be conditioning in escalating environments of distraction? 3. Nick vs continuous vs pager. I’ve been conditioning on continuous at a very low level (4 to 6, but I’m also wondering if I need to increase because dog isn’t doing commands he does perfectly without e collar). Or maybe the problem is that it’s already too intense and I should move to nick instead? Which one and how do I know? When would I use pager? Is there a specific sequence or button I should consider programming and training just for recall? 4. Boost. You mentioned setting the boost 5 levels above working level. Is that a good rule of thumb? If not, how do I discover boost levdl? And when is appropriate to use this function? And how? Does this change if environment is more distracted? If yes, this is assuming we are still conditioning, right, because I thought I heard you say that once you condition, you don’t use the functionalities day to day. 5. Aversive. You mention that after conditioning, you don’t use the collar. Does conditioning include using boost a few times so the dog knows escalating “e collar pressure” till they respond appropriately? Do you ever use this tool as an aversive? Like if the dog was running towards a car, how old you actually use the e collar (method, level, process etc) for that kind of event? What about a behavior that is undesirable but not that dire (eg playing too rough with another dog)- how would I use the collar in that scenario ? 6. Regression of known behaviors. If the dog was doing basic obedience behaviors excellently and reliably before, but now is a title sloppier with the ecollar, even as using it as recommended with your process, what kinds of potential causes would you look to troubleshoot to understand the underlying root cause? 7. With a prong. There are still many environments where either because of local law or ordinance or courtesy to others, I will still use a leash despite the dog being highly trained. I use a herm springer 2.5 (with backup clip of course 😊; I have a working line German Shepherd) prong. Are there any considerations I should be aware of with ecollar while dog is on leash? It’s still ok for me to use prongs as aversive to deliver corrections? I imagine these may be questions others have so appreciate you considering a response. Thank you for all you do for the pups.
LOOOOOOVE this explanation! I will definitely be referring clients on the fence to this video! One thing I use a lot that I heard you say in a video once is that the stim becomes conditioned to be a positive thing, so it's almost like remote control clicker training. Thank you for doing what you do! 💜💜💜
I've learned so much from Tom videos, he is great. The e-collar is basically a communication device, my dog gets super exited when I show her the collar, she loves her collar and being off leash.
As soon as we had finished our basic obedience course we did e collar training. Best thing ever! We hike the the hills and mountains of Utah. We have so much fun 8:40 Sat. 4/15/23
So bought one and started using it today with conditioning at 6 I’m going to give you an update in 1 week 2 weeks after review Wtfffffffff amazing change my dog and I improved our relationship from a 7/10 to 9/10 best tool ever BUT you need to know what u are doing, hard to use without making any mistakes so follow his videos to avoid some of them my dog was reactive at the park with people, especially guys, now is at 0 reaction she was getting petted by people. How when she would look at some one with her classic look ( I’m about to bark) I would recall her with the collar and then I would put her on heal and approach the person and do some condicionig training Now why did I need the E-collar because when my dog was barking even if she has good recall she was to focused on the person, with the e collar I have that extra control to set her up for success!!!! Inform your self before buying and if u do buy it, make it fun for you and the dog
I use an e-collar on my 20 month old service dog in training so I don’t have to have her on leash because her leash gets in the way of performing her tasks. She doesn’t really need it, but I have it for peace of mind. I trained her using this method after watching all your videos on the collar, a ton of Larry Krohn’s videos, and reading Larry’s book four times before I even bought the collar.
SO many so called Trainers would learn so much from this video...Tom so well explained and this could save your Dog's life! Why would anybody want to ban that?
Yes, absolutely! We have to re-educate bc when you say e collar or remote collar it has negative association with it. I am always very surprised at the misconceptions around them and I pass people who have reactive dogs quite frequently, I was one of them. I can take my dog out and now I know how to handle varying situations and can keep him safe. Win!
I have a 1 year old Doberman who ive trained pretty well! He is intact and is REALLY beginning to push boundaries, specifically outside with play. Blowing me off, not outing his toy when i ask him to, etc. We play in a baseball field and up until this point he does a perfect fetch, and return. Now, when I recall, he will ignore me, and test his boundaries until i go get him. All that being said. When using an e collar, would i hold the nick until he returns to me (aftr conditioning and training of course), or until he commits to coming? It always made sense that we hold the stim until an action is completed, but its a relatively long trot back to me. Thanks for any and all help!!!
I think I need one for my 5yo German shepherd. No matter what collar I use she pulls and chokes herself. My pit mix 6mo puppy can be wild at times but will listen if my other dog isn’t around lol
Love Your Videos Tom! I’ve been watching you ever since I got my Doberman 2 years ago. I’ve been able to learn a lot from you and your team!. The amount of freedom I’ve been able to give my dog Jojo is amazing!.
Looking into the e collar for my 10 month old pup, some great info here. I’ve never used one and want to make sure we are doing it correctly with him. With a large dog (Bernese mountain and standard poodle mix weighing over 80lbs at 10months) makes it harder to correct when he wants to jump and pull to other dogs. He doesn’t respond well to leash corrections. He also needs work off leash with biting arms to play. We have 3 kids and homeschool so want to train ourselves and have the tools to give him the best life which will hopefully include Off Leah with us out on trails. We are waiting patiently for your e collar to be back in stock to order your training and get things started. Thanks for all that you do!
Love your videos and your courses. I have done two of the online courses, reactive dogs and e-collar. Using the e-collar to train my reactive Labrador Retriever with amazing results! Thank you!!! Question: Where can I buy the lightweight long line you used in this video?
I haven't yet used a remote collar. My first Corso had great recall. I did trainer her a lot with recall and played games with another person. We would make her sit and stay. I'd hide on another side of the house and yell come. When I had two people we would call her, the other person would run somewhere else, and yell come. It worked great. I have a new puppy I'll be working on it with! I forgot the puppy stages and how the know nothing yet 😂 back to basics. We did do the come game in the house first.
Great partnership between an awesome trainer and a great company. Hands down the best tool I ever used. Thanks for all the tips. Me and my pup definitely appreciate all the freedom because of your hard work.
If you do not listen to anything else, buy a Dogtra collar even if it is not the GSD version. I was using a Walmart brand and was hit and miss. The Dogtra Arc collar is what I am using and it works flawlessly. Camiel responded the first session with no mistakes. My dog does not respond to a 4 or 5 so her level is a 6 on normal training and in a distractive environment it is an 8. Camiel was a rescue dog and I have trained her to enough to pass CGC and she is not service dog certified. Not bad for just under a year. Tom Davis' methods work very well. I would not have Camiel certified if it was not for Tom's RUclips channel.
Once again, an amazingly helpful video that breaks it down into terms the average person can understand. Also very illustrative that the ecollar is not harmful or detrimental to the dog in ANY WAY. Keep up the good work!!!
Wow the snake at the end freaked me out haha. Hope Lakota didn't get bit. Anyway great explanation in this video! I also have the Tom Davis 280c, and it's upgraded me and my dogs quality of life a ton! Such a valuable tool and a HUGE game changer for off leash safety
We love you Tom ❤❤❤ we just recieved your new Tom Davis/ dogtra ecollar & can't wait to get started, you've already changed our life in such beautiful ways, I know this will take us to the next level!🎉
Great job, great info for the people that don't understand how ECollars should be used!!! I share your videos with so many people that need the visual and they can always go back and watch them over and over. Keep up the great work. Also do you have a list of your up coming seminars?
I am sooo glad I caught this this morning because my hurricane pup comes out soon and I'm trying to allow him to be loose on my 2.5 acres and he heads for the woods. Don't want him there because he can make it to the next road behind us. I finally got your 280c and he's doing good especially if he sees I'm holding the remote but I'll boost today if he heads into wooded out of my sight woodlines ❤
@@tomdavisofficial it did! Even prevented him from jumping up when meeting my sister who's stage 4 renal failure and I didn't want her hurt. Saw him getting ready to get the front end upward bound hit him with #4Nic and a verbal phooey and that thought left his mind. I'd been using pager which has worked better than expected but Nic saved the day 😁. Made me look so good to my sister who has trained and bred schutzhund dogs for decades before getting sick. She thinks the "dog in the chain" would make an excellent service dog because of the way he watches me waiting for a command. Made the same eye contact with her and she'd say I don't have a command for you but you're a good boy LOL
So the e-collar is basically WiFi leash pressure. In the sense that it's on immediate off when the dog does the command. That's great it finally clicked for me. Thanks a bunch. I trained my first dog years ago he was the best dog ever but he was never off leash. I just took in a blue heeler pup and this dog is a genius. Thanks for your advice can't wait to get him to a point where he can really enjoy himself in some of these Kentucky fields.
My dog has a very high prey drive and on walks he does not care about treats or listen well. If he is doing well with the ecollar at home but doesn't response on walks, is it better to increase the shock intensity or use vibration?
Nice Job Tom. 👍 I "thought" 10min. 22sec. might be a little Risky for that Subject. Considering just how Mis-Understood it is. But that was very good and Ticked All the Boxes. Cheers. Well Done. Best Always, Bruce Stone and Dr. Alena Bykova DVM Interdyne International K-9 Medical Service Dogs of ALL Types Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn's Local Business of the Year for 2022 and 2023 🐾👍
I've been wait ti know what the advanced stages looked like. I'm so happy yiu made thise videos. I have my dog conditioned on one and it's been amazing!
We have the mini educator E collars in the UK but would love to eventually be able to order one of the dogtra ones just wish they were more available 😅
Thank you for this video! These are pricey, but Ive come to realize, I may need an e collar to train my dogs. One thing Id like to know is, can this be used to correct other behaviors? For example, I want to train my dogs not to bum-rush us when we come in the door. Yes, we do ignore them, and walk right by, but they still do it, particularly, when visitors come. This is one other behavior Id like to correct.
I would LOVE a video that shows how to use this collar to heel. My pitbull is very leash reactive to dogs and I wish this collar could help with him to focus on me and not pull away when a dog walks by.
Let's call a spade a spade and not confuse folks; "Tap" or "Nick" is just yet another term for shock. Although, nowadays modern devices are capable of dialing the intensity to a milder static stimulation making them great for training. I recommend, testing them out on yourself first which is what I do.
So if during recall your dog will commit to you, but really likes to do the "top gun flyby" how would you correct that using the collar? When we're inside he'll come right to me, but outside when he's excited he'll just fly right by me.
Thank you, sir. I bought one of these a while ago, but I have been tentative to try it. Now that we have a reasonable sized backyard and spring/summer on the way, it seems like an excellent time to give it a go.
@Upstate Canine Academy My boi, Emilio, is a full grown pibble of 8+ years. My biggest concern is his puppy-like inquisitiveness. Having recently moved to a new nice neighborhood that has children and other dogs, I'd rather he not seize the opportunity to squeeze by and get past the open front door to go visiting. Yes, walking him off-leash to the local dog park would be great as well. And perhaps taking him to work with me now and then, as he is getting older, would be fun outings for him. My concern is for his safety FROM others. Not the other way around. I understand, appreciate, and indeed expect that this may take some extra time. He is an "older" dog, after all. But what might the end results be with this training? Can he and I go further than just keeping him close to me? Or is that about all I should realistically expect? He is a very good boi.
Hi Tom. Your version of the 280c isn't available on Amazon. I am in Australia and would really love to buy it. Would you mind getting in touch with me? Appreciated. Thanks
So is it like a trapping sensation for the dog or a like shock typa thing? Im new to e collars and want to know exactly what im getting into before i even buy one
Please explain when off leash using the e-collar non verbal for a recall. How the dog doesn’t get confused if your using the e-collar for reinforcement of other verbal commands. Nick until the commit to a sit or nick if they break a stay. How does the dog differentiate the non verbal nick to recall? When you use the nick for other commands? Thank you for your time.🐶🐾💕
Hi Tom! Love your videos!! I have a boxer that went to a board and train. They trained her with the Dogtra Arc which I do like but I wish it had separate settings for the nick and constant that I don’t have to toggle back and forth from nick and constant because the number settings are different for each one. The trainer trained my dog to only use the ecollar when she doesn’t listen. The nick I use mostly when she is in the yard and does something I don’t want her to do. Also I think having a collar with a boost would be beneficial because sometimes it takes me awhile to adjust the setting to bump it up when there is more distraction. A couple times I mistakenly went to high and she yelped which I hate, or the dial moved. I guess a lock option would be nice too.
So happy to see a video showing people that E-Collars are not a form of punishment but rather just a training tool! I hear so many people saying “I’d never put one on my dog because they’re cruel”🤦🏻♀️to me, it’s more cruel to an animal to not have every safety precaution available to protect your pets.
I've been binge watching your videos/listening to your podcasts since I found out about you a few days ago. Amazing content and I've made great progress with my dogs in just a short time. My question is - I have garmin sport pro e collars - can I use that model to train similarly to how you teach in your videos?
I need help! I need to know when it is okay to introduce your dog to the e collar. I have a puppy who is 4 months old (boxer). Is this too young to start e collar triaging?
About what age / stage of training is appropriate to start training with an ecollar? For instance how "perfect" does leash training or common commands need to be?
Are e collars good for dogs that show stress towards other dogs? Can using them raise cortisol levels? In a dog fear reactive I'm just wondering if it's a good idea. Internet is very mixed on opinions. Your dog is very calm anyway and I assume already trained using this device. I know the important bit is the conditioning part...but if you get that wrong,..
The garmin doesn’t have a boost button so you have to quickly jump it up through the levels. Not convenient and it leaves a delay while your dog is misbehaving. Not ideal, your collar looks much better. I’ll definitely look into it when this garmin I have wears out.
Received my collar a couple days ago. Maybe my English Lab’s fur is dense but she doesn’t even register a response until level 7. We train about four times daily at about 15 minutes. I noticed an immediate sharpening up of her place, come, heel, and other basic commands. Now to figure out how to ‘leave it’ on my landscaping.
Great video. Question: I have a Pyrenees Shepard, living in the country. Refuge dog 3 years old, fairly well trained in basics. However, he sometimes takes off after hunting dogs or trucks/ 4x4 coming from the forest with interesting smells. Can an E-collar do anything for that or should I get a GPS, Thanks and again great video.
Hi how are you ? A question about the electronic collar. When the dog feels the collar, he suddenly gets scared and does not understand what is happening to him. Tail down and he looks for a safe place or clings to me. Needless to say, the power is very low and after I checked the power on myself. Of course, because of the pressure, he does not carry out the command
Thank you. This is super helpful as someone considering. Maybe i missed it but do you talk about how long to use the collar? I hope to have my husky fullfilling her purpose pulling and racing and ther might be time i cant, dont, or wont use a collar
Just wanted to stop by and say how wonderful this dogtra #nobaddogs edition is. I've been working with my GSD on the mini educator and have had butt loads of issues and got this dogtra in the mail today and we had an hour training session. NIGHT AND DAY. How does this special edition differ from the normal version?
afaik it has the strap which is a big deal and it has a lock mode on the preferred setting@@myongjasuh8372
My job is to teach and educate those only willing and ABLE to learn!
Absolutely ingenious!
Thats amazing!
This is so awesome!!!
E collars are bad when owners don't educate how to use them. That's the problem

Zak George is A idiot who doesn't know how to handle real dogs and dogs with issues.
LETS GOOO
I got the 280C Tom Davis edition and started training with my dog when he was 8 mo. Now at 15 months, my dog is frequently off leash when we go hiking and is very reliable on his recall, even when the collar isn't on.
Thank you for all you do, sir!
Yesssir! Happy for you, Cesar
It is totally positive for them.
education
Bingo :)
Wow, incredible story. Just ordered one!
Heeler club!!!
I just started using one with a trainer to learn properly, definitely a game changer. I feel like I can tackle most situations with confidence as my dog was becoming somewhat reactive and it has really stopped that and helped him listen to me and help him understand it’s okay and to redirect that reactive anxiety.
Glad it’s helped you
Lol my heeler's go to place is between my legs also, I wonder if it's a heeler thing cause I definitely didn't teach her that!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks for explaining the situation so clearly.
Thank you. Couple of practical questions:
Wayyyyyyy too much to read
Excellent short but concise and very helpful training video. Thanks Tom!
Thanks!
LOOOOOOVE this explanation! I will definitely be referring clients on the fence to this video! One thing I use a lot that I heard you say in a video once is that the stim becomes conditioned to be a positive thing, so it's almost like remote control clicker training. Thank you for doing what you do! 💜💜💜
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Great instruction. I have a 7 month Lab and she is on E collar on trails and doing great.
Incredible video as always!!!! I’m loving the beginner videos!🫶
Woohoo!
I haven't been able to afford this unit since the virus hit. Love your videos and philosophy! Thank you for sharing with us all.
So bought one and started using it today with conditioning at 6 I’m going to give you an update in 1 week
2 weeks after review
Wtfffffffff amazing change my dog and I improved our relationship from a 7/10 to 9/10 best tool ever
BUT
you need to know what u are doing, hard to use without making any mistakes so follow his videos to avoid some of them
my dog was reactive at the park with people, especially guys, now is at 0 reaction she was getting petted by people.
How when she would look at some one with her classic look ( I’m about to bark) I would recall her with the collar and then I would put her on heal and approach the person and do some condicionig training
Now why did I need the E-collar because when my dog was barking even if she has good recall she was to focused on the person, with the e collar I have that extra control to set her up for success!!!!
Same. ❤
Good job! Great intro video! Always enjoy watching you work with your dog too. It's an inspiring plus. Have a lovely Spring.
Thanks so much!!
Win!
Because they don’t know what it is.
@@tomdavisofficial By the way collar sold out in Amazon are more on the way?
Yay Lakota🐾🐾😊 She prances, such a super model of a dog. ❤❤❤
Haha has
The coolest dog training channel on RUclips ❤
Old school reference, I love it. ❤
If you know you know !
Fantastic Video! Well said! And I'm in love with the FABULOUS Lakota! ❤❤❤
WOHOOO!
Love Your Videos Tom! I’ve been watching you ever since I got my Doberman 2 years ago. I’ve been able to learn a lot from you and your team!. The amount of freedom I’ve been able to give my dog Jojo is amazing!.
🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much, Danny :)
Glad it helped!
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
love you a ton Tom! you've made our quality of life soooo much better thanks to you ❤🎉
We love you Tom ❤❤❤ we just recieved your new Tom Davis/ dogtra ecollar & can't wait to get started, you've already changed our life in such beautiful ways, I know this will take us to the next level!🎉
wooogoo
Great job, great info for the people that don't understand how ECollars should be used!!! I share your videos with so many people that need the visual and they can always go back and watch them over and over. Keep up the great work. Also do you have a list of your up coming seminars?
Thanks!! We aren’t doing any on the US this year. Maybe Ohio. Head to our website to join our email list!
@@tomdavisofficial thanks so much Tom
These videos are so informative while training my pups.
Happy you liked them, Tory!
Hope it helps, Kim!
Thank you! I appreciate these videos...if ever your near Philly I'd come!
Thanks for watching!!
Best thing I ever did was E Collar condition my dog. Now I hardly ever use it , though she wears it. Great video Tom, thanks.
🙏🏻
I feel so much better after watching this. What age do you reccomend an e-collar be used in a GSD pup? Were getting ine in about 3 weeks. ❤
Thank you so much for the wonderful post. Your how-to video is a game changer for me. Thank you so much.🤩
So the e-collar is basically WiFi leash pressure.
Essentially yes. That’s the way I use it anyway
@@tomdavisofficial Thank you.
My dog has a very high prey drive and on walks he does not care about treats or listen well. If he is doing well with the ecollar at home but doesn't response on walks, is it better to increase the shock intensity or use vibration?
Thank you so much for showing how to use the collar.
My pleasure, Linda!
I have a heeler/aussie mix that barks, nips and is almost 5 months old. At what age should you begin collar training?
Nice Job Tom. 👍 I "thought" 10min. 22sec. might be a little Risky for that Subject. Considering just how Mis-Understood it is. But that was very good and Ticked All the Boxes. Cheers. Well Done.

Hi there im wondering if the strap will fit a fully grown boerboel or will i need a new strap please let me know im really considering buying one
Thank you, Tom for caring educational training.
Thanks for watching!
Awesome, I've had one of those collars for years, super helpful
I want to get an E caller for my 2 dogs. Should I get an individual caller and remote, or should I do one remote for 2 callers?
Great video, I do want to see an untrained dog start with an E collar.
Thanks so much Tom!
I've been wait ti know what the advanced stages looked like. I'm so happy yiu made thise videos. I have my dog conditioned on one and it's been amazing!
Thanks, Robert!
E-collar was a complete life changer for my HIGH ANXIETY Border Collie. These are completely misunderstood and imprperly tagged "shock collars".
Happy it helped y’all
We have the mini educator E collars in the UK but would love to eventually be able to order one of the dogtra ones just wish they were more available 😅
You can get ours off our site!
@@tomdavisofficial I’m getting one soon my German shepherd needs one so bad I can’t wait to help him
You can get the 640c tom Davis ones from vonwolf k9 in UK. I've just ordered one
Welcome!
I would LOVE a video that shows how to use this collar to heel. My pitbull is very leash reactive to dogs and I wish this collar could help with him to focus on me and not pull away when a dog walks by.
You essentially replace your leash with the remote collat
I’m gonna try it Tom. Thank you! What a great video!
Good luck!
Good luck!
Yay! Did your female client (shown at beginning with long-haired GSD) come back for more training?! Can’t remember her name! I loved her! 😃❤️
Thank you for your time.🐶🐾💕
We do in our e collar course!
❤Love the e collar clips you do 🐾
Ty!!
I hear so many people saying “I’d never put one on my dog because they’re cruel”🤦🏻♀️to me, it’s more cruel to an animal to not have every safety precaution available to protect your pets.
i in fl i have two bostin terriers do you have any videos with that breed, thankyouin advance, god bless
Does this training eventually lead to not needing the e collar? Or is this a tool I’ll have to use forever?
It can sure but why wouldn’t you use something daily that can save your dogs life
I've been binge watching your videos/listening to your podcasts since I found out about you a few days ago. Amazing content and I've made great progress with my dogs in just a short time.
My question is - I have garmin sport pro e collars - can I use that model to train similarly to how you teach in your videos?
Thanks! I am not sure, I know nothing about the unit
I need help! I need to know when it is okay to introduce your dog to the e collar. I have a puppy who is 4 months old (boxer). Is this too young to start e collar triaging?
Are there any other e collars you recommend that are a little more cost effective? Thanks!
About what age / stage of training is appropriate to start training with an ecollar? For instance how "perfect" does leash training or common commands need to be?
Hi would it be possible to do a video on using an e-collar with small dogs? (which one to get, how to use it etc etc)
It's the same exact training
Does the Tom Davis edition of the Dogtra collar actually make the “tick tick tick” sound that is heard in the video when stimulation is applied?
👍🏻👍🏻
Received my collar a couple days ago. Maybe my English Lab’s fur is dense but she doesn’t even register a response until level 7. We train about four times daily at about 15 minutes. I noticed an immediate sharpening up of her place, come, heel, and other basic commands.
Now to figure out how to ‘leave it’ on my landscaping.
You just need a little bit longer contact points! Guarantee that’d fix the issue!
Please help. I need a two dog system. Will the 282c be the system to go with? My GSDs are 8 months and understand all basic commands. Thank you !
Such a helpful video. Thank you as always Tom ❤
Thanks, Becky
So much good information!!!❤❤❤
:) thanks!
Hey
Do you leave the electronic collar on the dog all day?
Of course, except in the cage where he sleeps
Is this just to train the dog or you use this forever??
We use this for our reactive dog I was that person before I understood it that didn’t want to do it but I realize it’s a great tool for my guy
What’s the earliest age you would start ? I have a 6 month lab
She has always seemed so eager to work :) I never noticed her subtle little brindle markings! I got the td280c when it came out!!
🙏🏻🙏🏻
I NEED to order your product, thank u for a great video
Thanks for watching, Fred!
All the Karen and Ken out there need to watch this video ASAP!
wow, this is revolutionary! 😮
Can you also publish a video of doing the behavior training with the e-collar, please?
Hi how are you ?
A question about the electronic collar. When the dog feels the collar, he suddenly gets scared and does not understand what is happening to him. Tail down and he looks for a safe place or clings to me. Needless to say, the power is very low and after I checked the power on myself. Of course, because of the pressure, he does not carry out the command
Would you recommend doing e collar training with a 16lb dog?
You can do e collar training with a. 1 pound dog
Thank you. This is super helpful as someone considering. Maybe i missed it but do you talk about how long to use the collar? I hope to have my husky fullfilling her purpose pulling and racing and ther might be time i cant, dont, or wont use a collar
