Thank you so much. I tried a bark collar at one point, and it didn't reset to the lower setting and creep up like you talked about and I felt horrible because when my boy is too busy barking, he doesn't notice it until it's pretty strong, but I couldn't leave it on that setting because it would hurt him when he wasn't in a frenzy. This was only about 2 years ago and I didn't know how much better they've gotten.
It really is a great channel. I’ve worked with dogs on a personal level with friends, family or people connected with them since 2009 when I spent 4 years as a falconer with a professional handler. This is the first time I’ve come across a handler on RUclips teaching dog psychology, identifying behavioral cues and training tactics that are exactly what I was taught.
Many years ago I bought an ''As Seen On TV'' bark controller. It attached to the house and emitted a sound only dogs heard. Apparently it was loud. I got it because the dog next door barked non stop. It actually worked.
I had a neighbor that had one and I had an aussie that would bark a few times when he was excited to play Frisbee. As soon as that first bark, my dogs would get this look and go back inside thru the dog door and not want to come back outside. My kids could also hear it and not want to be in our own back yard. Im glad it worked for you, but they aren't humane in my opinion and ruined the quality of life for my dogs and kids to enjoy their own yard. Ultra sonic frequencies are proven to cause pain in those able to hear it. They have the same thing to prevent teens from loitering. Look it up.

We have two Garmin bark collars. One specifically for the bedroom for summer nights when she is in her crate and hears the coyotes howling. They work great and one bark is enough for her. My setting isn’t too high.
Thank you for posting this. We live in the country and our dog is used as a guard dog for our goats. The problem is, she barks at EVERYTHING. Cows, tractors, machines, any sound, squirrels, rabbits…so we went with the remote set up. We didn’t want her to stop barking when another dog or predator was around, so we thought the remote would be better. Any recommendations on this kind of specific training? She will bark 24 hours a day if we let her, defeating the purpose of having a dog as an “alarm” for us. I understand this kind of training is much more time intense, but it will be good for everyone if we can train her to bark more consistently at other dogs and not all of the other harmless and every day sights and sounds.
I believe that the remote bark collar might be the right solution for you HOWEVER, for IT to work, YOU need to work. What I mean by that is that is that if YOU don’t have the remote ON you, ALL the time, and don’t provide consistent correction when the dog is barking at the “wrong” times, you are going to confuse the dog and the training will fail to produce the result you hoped for. All you would have accomplished is frustrating and shocking the dog needlessly. Only other word of advice. If you’re going to use a collar, get a PREMIUM collar like Sportdog or similar. Not some cheap Amazon product that may not have the features to help you train correctly.
Have a 9 year old miniature pincer he’s 15lbs and very has separation anxiety. So please before we get fined by our condo can you recommend a collar for him. @RobertCabralDogs Great Video! I want to make sure I understood you. You put the bark collar on when you don’t want the dog to bark and off when it’s ok to bark. If so, you must have had the collar on, even when it was OK to bark because you had to get the dog used to the correction. Right? So the que for the dog is collar on, correction. Collar off, dog can bark at will? We WANT the dogs to bark when people approach our home door. They also bark if someone is walking their dog past our house, which is ok. We just don’t want them barking if we take them camping or sometimes, the lab will want to fetch and we can’t play with him. He will bark until we do…. So, collar on?
I have 2 aussies and small terrier. They all bark incessantly. But i dont want to leave the collars on all the time of course, just to train them. What brand has everyone tried that works the best for multiple dogs? Price doesn't matter I just want highest quality. THANK YOU

@ Robert Cabral I have a Sport Dog bark collar. Sometimes when we're just playing in the yard it will give him something because he'll yip loudly. It doesn't matter which setting it's on. We used the progressive setting and tried to do some reactivity training. He saw a dog a block away and went nuts (as usual). He wouldn't stop so he continued to get shocked and he began screaming. It was awful. Never again. I called the company and they explained that in this incident he would be considered an aggressive dog which isn't recommend to use the collar. He otherwise is not aggressive at all. Lesson learned. We can't stop the barking using an e-collar when we're not home. We're at a loss for what to do. He's a 3 year old German Shepherd that we've had for six months.
