My first time watching your video, I had the exact same model back in 1975,green in colour, with same steering lock, a the memories, thank you ill be back. 👍👏
I remember my dad hiring one of these viva estates in 1968 they had not been out long, my brother and I we're in the back laying on the floor while the other seats we're used, the police would not like that now,you could get away with more then,I remember looking at the speedo and seeing 85 on the clock which was moving in those days. The video brought back many happy memories. Thanks.
Wow, great video , brings back great memories for me as I worked on the assembly line putting these beautiful cars together, every little detail of the interior I remember so well , as I fitted the seats and carpets , again great video and memories,
@@zaksgarage WOW! Leather products work on vinyl! Learn something everyday! Also, cleaning vinyl with WASHING UP LIQUID conditions it, if you use LEMON washing up liquid! Specially on plastic hoods on CONVERTIBLES. Great for conditioning PVC windows on CONVERTIBLES, so they FLEX well for folding down!
First time watching your video brings back a lot of childhood memories. Would have been nice to see the engine bay as well. Will be back for videos 👍👍👍👍
Incredible transformation of a now mega-rare HB estate, my boss had the identical model in white , YGK 736G , love the in-period ' Krooklok ' , opened by Wilmot - Breeden keys , available over the counter at accessory shops !.More interesting than a restored example .
To be fair, it wasn’t a bad starting point at all, but really lovely to see you bringing this old girl back to life, the sedans seldom seen the estates are complete hens, teeth territory. Subbed, I’m looking forward to more content!
Ahhh the old Krooklock eh....memories lol. The grease gun would be for the front ball joints as they came with grease nipples on older cars, so you filled them on a regular basis so they were well packed and lasted longer.
Great job my friend you have done a excellent job looks all original with the bit’s of rust here and there great job looks great thank you for your video some more please
That Viva is as old as me, and it takes me back-my late Dad owned a couple over the years. The seats are vinyl-specially designed to burn your legs in shorts in a hot summer’s day!
Great job! Love the attention to detail keeping the historical papers with the car. Stuff like that is always a bonus picking up an historic motor! Loved that you even polished the steering lock too 👍👍
There are only 11 Vauxhall Viva HB estates that are alive in Britain today. My grandad had a 1969 powder blue G reg and was dead after six years in 1975. Malta is famous for elderly British cars still in existence and on holiday in the 1990s I was awoken at about 7am in my hotel bed by a noisy vehicle outside in the hot morning sun with no exhaust. I looked out of the window and it was a turquoise HB estate!
Very well done and a fantastic transformation. Its so nice to see someone treating the contents of the car with respect and keeping it for the history of the car as well as for the next owner. Apparently untouched dirty barn finds are actually worth more, as some buyers see that as a sign that the car hasn't been messed with. Personally I'd prefer to buy a car like this, as I find it gives a clearer view of the cars condition. Hopefully the next owner sorts out any rust problems but keeps it totally standard as you just don't see these anymore. The interior is highly likely to be vinyl not leather, a very viscous material when a cars been left out in the hot sun and nobody's put covers on the seats. Ouch!! I should know, growing up in the 70's!
I reckon the HB Viva estate is one of the best looking estate cars ever made. Such a good shape! That's a great project car for someone and now you've got it nice and clean, the new owner can see properly what needs to be done. It's in pretty good nick and white paintwork leaves rust nowhere to hide! Probably fairly easy to make that car mint again. I'd love it, lovely old thing!
Your imagination to see this vehicle has some notable characteristics such as loads of glass, tiny pillars holding up the roof and a crazy back seat. Car Lovers of the World we salute you.👍👋🐨🦘
You don't see many HBs never mind the estate I love how basically it's a saloon body with the roof extended imagine having that boot lip on a modern car 🚙 👌👍🏻
Nice job! I prefer original paint cleaned up rather than a respray, when possible. That interior was really nice and even better once you’d finished. Did you get it running? More barn find cars would be great. 👍🏻
You did a great job on the old Viva estate! Really nice little clean up job. First time I've watched one of your videos, and they are very well made, really enjoyed it. Have subbed. Will you try and get it running before you pass it on?
That came up very well. Does it run? I'm sure everyone would love to see the engine come to life. I would remove that homemade bar from the rear though. Looks horrible and is definitely not OE. Good work.
It's not home made it's the same one that I purchased and fitted to my 1968 SL90 I think it was made by Whitter. Great cars in their day kept mine in the family for 16years and 120,000 miles (2engine rebuilds) but the rust bug got it in the end.
Great video Sir but when you use that machine polisher you should throw the cable over your shoulder to stop it hitting the car. That's a Rupes bigfoot 21? i bought one myself a few years ago but i've only used it 4 times so far 😆
Nice job fella MY dad had a maroon one of these 1159cc HB Viva estates back in 74/75 so brought back good memories you worked really hard bringing the outside and inside back to life was there much rust underneath? atb from Mike Skegvegas
I think the title of this video is a little bit of ClickBait here to be honest Zac. Don't get me wrong mate, you did a fantastic job of cleaning and polishing the car. But for me; as an old fart, it was spoiled by the fact that you didn't deal with the rust issues, or even make an effort to do so. And I wouldn't entertain the idea of buying a car like this unless the rust had been done. Did it even run??
They was rotten coming off the show room floor. I was born in 64 in Dudley. A muslim. indain family could get ten in that machine. But the cortina estate was a favorite. Looks pretty clean. Nice find. Could be worth a few Quid.
Yes not leather seats , sit on them on a hot sunny day , you will find you have no skin left. Viva's were notorious for inner wing rot , you didn't show under the bonnet , why not ?
Not sure why you polished a rusty car that will need lots of body work, plenty of mechanical work, possibly a complete engine rebuild, you’ve basically polished a turd, sorry to be so brunt.
Talking of polished turds. You evidently have no clue as to just how rare this car now is in this sort of original unspoilt condition. Now go and play nicely with your toys, and then one day you might be able to afford a real TVR!
If you have a barn find or classic car that is in desperate need of detailing send me a email which is in the description !

OH MY ..... What a job you did bring that up
Damn. Big difference. Some more barn finds will be sickk!
Well what a transformation, a lot of your hard work as paid off . Congratulations
Sorry to upset the apple cart but your seats are period correct vinyl. Not leather. Still nice for its time mind you.
Haha thanks for that, guess the leather products still work on vinyl. They came out great

What a great 👍 job you’ve done. My mum had a blue one of these when I was a kid in the mid 70s
Love your work on the old vauxhall
Great job! Perfect patina, not over done and another car saved. Well done.
Wow what a survivor car there can't be many left these cars literally rotted away in front of your eyes! Great video thanks for putting it out there 👍
Ur doing a really good job cleaning the viva up big difference 😊
Amazing transformation - well done.
Great job. That interior is in good nick.
First time watching your video brings back a lot of childhood memories. Would have been nice to see the engine bay as well. Will be back for videos 👍👍👍👍
Good video. I remember these as a child. Another classic saved. Thanks for uploading, great job.
Car looks amazingly solid. No obvious rust or decay. Great find. My Dad had one of those.
Brilliant vivas love them
Great car to start with I had a few viva's back in the day all suffered with rust. All the best with this project
Quality video geez, that motor brings back great memories 👌

Great job. Happy memories of holidays with my folks in the late '60s early '70s in a very similar model.
Ahhh the old Krooklock eh....memories lol.
The grease gun would be for the front ball joints as they came with grease nipples on older cars, so you filled them on a regular basis so they were well packed and lasted longer.
Thanks for that info!

A HB on a 'J' plate, must be one of the last HB versions sold. Defintely worth saving.
Agreed most J reg were HC models so a late car or late registered.
My dad had one of these it reminded me of when I was a kid I good vid 😎
Nice job mate
It looks so much better. Great job 👏
Top resto job well done you've transformed this 53 year old Viva estate👌👌👌👌I used to have a Crook lock
Thanks ! Hope you enjoyed
New subscriber here. That was great ! A neighbour had a saloon version, and gave me a lift in it one time. All the best and greetings from Prague. CZ
Great job! Love the attention to detail keeping the historical papers with the car. Stuff like that is always a bonus picking up an historic motor!
Loved that you even polished the steering lock too 👍👍
Glad you enjoyed it!
Agree it's time capsule history still being in the vehicle all this time is great to see 😊

Must be a very late model on a J plate.

lovely car, great find,i love how you do a great job bringing it back as best it can

Cool 👌
Bit confused. Both vivas I had were vinyl interiors. Plus working in the motor trade. Never encountered a leather interior on a viva
Yep Vinyl Interiors Not Leather.
This was not in anyway a DETAIL or a RESTURATION it was a 55% FULL VALLET at best
Great job guys.
Came across this by chance. Great film. No silliness, im hoping for more soon. Thanks
Nice find and great detail job
First time watching one of your videos. Well done, very sympathetic tidy up.
Great Vid!
My dad had one of those it was dark blue good to see someone from the UK doing revivals
Great job would have liked to see you getting it started and detailing the engine bay.lovely old motor
Hey mate, really enjoyed this video . Well done 🙂 keep building your channel
Just watched the video again Zak, top class job bro......and a new subscriber 👍👍👍👍
Glad you enjoyed Thanks for the sub!
Well done great job 👍🏻
Nice job mate, enjoyed watching it 👍
Thanks for the video, incidentally I have a red 4 door Deluxe 90 HB out in the colonies of New Zealand 🇳🇿
Good luck with the tidy up 😂❤

What a lovely car
You don't see many HBs never mind the estate I love how basically it's a saloon body with the roof extended imagine having that boot lip on a modern car 🚙 👌👍🏻
Hi pal , good video I hope you will be doing videos of sorting brakes or at lease get up a running and driving :)
What a fantastic job! Well done 👍 hope the car gets preserved and not fully restored, it's so original.
Fantastic work brother perfectly done 👍
Very nice job 👍👍👍.Viva estate is very rare car
Notorious rot boxes. I still have one and that one is amazingly sound and straight. Needs waxoyling underneath or the tinworm will have it.
amazing what you did there
Amazing job on that viva 👍💯
Music is nice, too. Just right for this sort of video! What is it - and who is it by?
What happens next ? More work on this car or sell it?
Nice job! I prefer original paint cleaned up rather than a respray, when possible. That interior was really nice and even better once you’d finished. Did you get it running? More barn find cars would be great. 👍🏻

It's a pity that Australia never got the Estate version of this.
That came up very well. Does it run? I'm sure everyone would love to see the engine come to life. I would remove that homemade bar from the rear though. Looks horrible and is definitely not OE. Good work.

@@Rich_SJT OK. Looks very homemade. I think I would still get rid of it myself.
Save the classics mate 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 huge ckean up but so much better now 👍
Vauxhall used to call their paintwork MAGIC MIRROR. So, that must be why it looks shiny with only One coat of polish, then!
Lovely old car, wish they were all still as simple as this. Seats aren't leather by the way, they are a vinyl called Ambla.
Great video Sir but when you use that machine polisher you should throw the cable over your shoulder to stop it hitting the car. That's a Rupes bigfoot 21? i bought one myself a few years ago but i've only used it 4 times so far 😆
Thanks for the tip, & yup it’s the Bigfoot 21, I’ve used it loads and it’s still going strong !
Car was in great condition to start off to be fair, must've been well covered to survive like it did
The name for the car came in second white dove
Colour and reg number 🤔
Used to call them a krocklock years ago 👍💯
Nice job fella
MY dad had a maroon one of these 1159cc HB Viva estates back in 74/75 so brought back good memories
you worked really hard bringing the outside and inside back to life
was there much rust underneath?
atb from Mike Skegvegas
Is that life or clean, vacuum, wash and waxing?
But did it run❤
Such a cool car cooler than the BMW
I think the De-icer probably doubled the value of the car lol . Nice job on the detailing.
But does it run?

Has the car ever belonged to someone in North Wales ?
Seats are not leather, they are vinyl.
Ambla, I think.

How cool is that
