I never thought these Viva’s looked at all cool in their heyday but time has changed my point of view as it looks pretty dam cool now especially in 2 door and those alloys.
I once bought a Dolomite sprint from a guy who had all manner of old cars stored in an orchard, among the gems was a viva GT that had been stuffed in the arse when it was less than a month old, next to it was an at one time brand new replacement shell on a large pallet that had been there so long that it actually had a tree growing through it,a testament to those who keep putting stuff off!😁 .
The HB viva was the best looking of all the Vauxhall models, it was not over stated just very smooth in its lines from front to back, also the interior was in harmony with the exterior! It had that hint of the "Coke Bottle" profile so relevant of the era! Having driven them back in the 70's and numerous other makes and models since I have to say the HB viva is in my top 5 favorite cars of all time. Its outstanding feature for me was the super slick gear change, as it just begged to be driven in a spirited manner!
Viva has body look of mk2 and mk3 cortina, cool looking car, didnt look cool in its heyday but its a classic today compared to the crap being produced today great video channel love it🙏🙏🙏🙏🌟🌟🌟🌟🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
Great video. Took me back 40 years had one as a family car ours was a 4 door. Loved it then and still do. Dad taught me how to strip the carburettor when I was 11 lol. He kept it 17 years. Hope it gets a full restoration 👍👍👍
I know you said that you didn't like but I'm sorry to say I love them, i reckon they really suit this viva. I've always liked the look of minilights ( or are they super lights, I never can tell) whether on classic fords or mini coopers now vauxhall vivas!! If i had the money (gotta stop dreaming!!) I'd fully restore it, undecided whether to put in a period engine or modern vauxhall twin cam but spray it old english white but with a satin black bonnet plus a pair of recaro seats, then enjoy it on a really good B road
Original and pretty sound HB. They do rot unless waxoyled. This one appears to have good A pillars, possibly because the screen rubbers have been done. Dad had a green one that passed to me and it had a lot more rust than that cut out in the early '80s. Clock now says 38,000, but that's second time and where it stopped 5 years before a 1300 Ford was dropped in - no spares available in the early late '80s. Speedo worked so it never got changed before it was parked up in the early noughties.
we had a hunter in a colour very like that when i was a kid dad followed it with the rounder viva that came after this one i think in 70s brown mum had a 2 door escort through all that time
That takes me back a bit my Uncle got one of these brand new in 1968 was SL model and same colour. Nice little car, not too much rust for a Vauxhall, I think maybe they had started to get the rusting under control a bit by 68 looks like yours is a 1970. Thanks and good luck.
So i have just discovered your channel thanks to the world of internets..i know its a long time ago this video. But! Did it go? Sell i mean? Fell in love with the thing! Binge watching now! So refreshing to see a fellow smoker! Would love a tour of that yard!! Cheers.
The gearbox was held in place by a cross member two long bolts on either side. I had to get the clutch changed at the local workshop a job which requires dropping the gearbox. The mechanic let his appprentice reinstall the cross member. I then took it for a good drive down the motorway, then back through a country road to test it. About 5 miles from home had to change down a cog and reached for the gear shift, which promptly disappeared down through the console. So I carefully pulled of the road and looked underneath one side of the cross member had dropped out and was hanging an inch from the ground. Thank god it hadn't happened on the motorway. Turned out the apprentice had been over enthusiastic with the rattle gun and stripped the bolts.
This takes me back to my 1966 SL90 version FEX70D reg, I had and loved for many years but sadly it didn't do well with the rust like this car seems to have done, perhaps they made them with better steel?
The Metro deserves to live. My first thought/fear at that price is someone will do minimal Tarting and dare to try doubling the money. Hoping it goes to be loved though. Sweet Viva. I'd be itching for some sensible wheels with hubcaps.🙂 PS! More engine noises! 🙂
Really enjoying your channel. As an LT35 owner, I'd love to see more van content. Not sure if you're into type 28/21 LTs like mine, but if you are maybe something on them as you are mechanically minded. Keep up the good work
What is that music that u use in the video because I’ve watched a few of the videos and I’m singing that at my work coz it’s in my head. Great videos keep them coming
Looks a bit more respectable now, I hope someone buys it and does a good restoration without going ott. Back in the day I thought these were just old fashioned square shaped things but nigh on 50 years later I think it looks great. Agree on the wheels, they look a bit mk1 Escort to me.
When you tilted forward the front seat it just reminded me of getting in the back of our old SL90, also did you order a new condenser (capacitor) with the new ignition components?
This is a HB Viva (Mk2) with more curvy lines than the original boxy HA. Three cars were introduced around the same time in late 1966, the Hillman Hunter/ Singer Vogue, Ford Cortina Mk2 and Vauxhall Viva HB with estate versions the next year.
So that's basically the same as a Holden Torana of the same age... Hmm, drop in a whopping great LS V8. I mean that engine is a GM too so it would be only right, right?
Looks like the reg on the tax discs could have been its original plate which got removed and then it had an age-related plate issued? Don't mind the wheels but would probably look better on the originals. Sound is better :)
Just be careful with the 40 year exemption, the car MUST be registered with the DVLA as an exempt vehicle before it's taken on the road without tax or MOT, even on Trade plates. Cars do not automatically get the exemption and if it hasn't been granted you're still liable. I know of to people who have been done in this exact situation.
I hope you let the ebay auction run until the end. Don't let any selfish w*nkers try and get you to end the auction early with the old 'how much for cash, mate?!'. Anybody asking to do this should be instantly blocked from bidding and banned from buying it. That's how I deal with them. Works a treat.
It’s weird I’ve just had a advert for Connor No Leg McGreggor trying to get me to Download XTB share dealing app On a video for a old school Geeza fettling a Ellesmere Port Viva up noice You can’t make it up 🇬🇧🤣
When cars had style and easy to fix not like today's one style fits all and cramped with more electronics than a NASA spaceship totally useless when you brake down in the middle of nowhere bloody hate them.😠
I never thought these Viva’s looked at all cool in their heyday but time has changed my point of view as it looks pretty dam cool now especially in 2 door and those alloys.
Lovely to see you rescuing these cars and giving them another chance…
I reckon the wheels really suit the little HB, possibly because I had them on my SL90 many years ago, but I was in my early 20s then
another beautiful little car saved 😎👍love the shape of them looks like a proper motor car.
Bob' in "The Likely Lads" had one of these 'a very special version that had the ability to change back and forth from 2 door to 4 door.
What a great looking little car 😊
When I was a kid, my dad had a huge Vauxhall Victor in the same colour.
lol huge.... my pops had a 1970 Lincoln Town Car! now that's a land yacht!
I had my first driving lessons in the late '70s in our dark green Viva BB SL... GVM 882E! 😀
I learnt to drive in one of these. In Australia they were marketed as a Torana by Holden. Great little cars.
My first car 😊
Its amazing what a good wash can do, different car altogether. 👍🏻
Looks in goog shape. My 2nd car same model and colour, mine was full of fibreglass. Would love to see it fixed up 😊
Sound is good, content great , continuity very very good. Keep bringing us more please.
Tell you what... That's a genuine, straight little car.

I have to say as a recent follower of your channel I'm enjoying the ramblings lol.
Looking good.. - when you got all that "psoriasis" peelet off.. 😊

I had a few of these cars back in the day so easy to work on lovely memories
I had a few of these brilliant little car, wish I still had mine it was even the same colour.
Viva has body look of mk2 and mk3 cortina, cool looking car, didnt look cool in its heyday but its a classic today compared to the crap being produced today great video channel love it🙏🙏🙏🙏🌟🌟🌟🌟🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧
This Viva looks to be in very good condition, it should be straight forward to restore 😊.

just found this channel and realised i already have the car in my ebay watch list :)
Remember my dad had a 67 F reg same colour, he used to bring the gearstick in every night and boil the rubber in a pan as it kept coming out😂😂😂
It is a realy nice car. Thanks
Brilliant videos keep em coming
Loving those alloys, really set it off.
Arguably th HB was much better looking car than the HC but still would love to own either or even a Chevette. Great video.
Very retro little car the magnum 2300 was lovely I’m surprised it’s in such good nick
Brilliant man ❤👀👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I had a HB "Holden Torana" in Aust in 78

The minilites make it look like a MK1 Escort, at first glance.
Nice little motor tho, somebody can make a good car out of it.👍👌👍
Fabulous love it hope the metro lives on🚗
its Lovely !!!! 🙂 🙂 Well done

Morning yes she’s long gone made £8100 on eBay auction shocked the lot of us 👍
Lol 👍 you'll know what bit I'm laughing at 😂
I thought the Viva HB was a nice design 50 years back and I still do now.
The gearbox was held in place by a cross member two long bolts on either side. I had to get the clutch changed at the local workshop a job which requires dropping the gearbox. Just a class car Sir 🎩
This takes me back to my 1966 SL90 version FEX70D reg, I had and loved for many years but sadly it didn't do well with the rust like this car seems to have done, perhaps they made them with better steel?
3.0 V6 in that would be special
The Metro deserves to live. My first thought/fear at that price is someone will do minimal Tarting and dare to try doubling the money. Hoping it goes to be loved though.
Sweet Viva. I'd be itching for some sensible wheels with hubcaps.🙂
PS! More engine noises! 🙂
I’ve got the originals , as I’m not a fan of the wide alloys lol 👍
@@6DDIESELSDorset Good stuff!

That hilux looks a Bonny thing , love a hilux pre 2002 and no Surfs please I’m a LT2 kinda man
I had one of these.....scrapped it sadly
What is that music that u use in the video because I’ve watched a few of the videos and I’m singing that at my work coz it’s in my head. Great videos keep them coming
My friend actually rolled one of these in reverse in 1991. It was a minter up to that point.
Looks a bit more respectable now, I hope someone buys it and does a good restoration without going ott. Back in the day I thought these were just old fashioned square shaped things but nigh on 50 years later I think it looks great. Agree on the wheels, they look a bit mk1 Escort to me.
Loving it buddy
Shes a beautiful motor def interested 👍🏻.

You should speak with Chris from the salvage rebuilds RUclips channel he loves these
Microphone sounds great. What was the tracked vehicle parked next to the car under the shed?
Marshal fowler crawler (green) Allis Chalmers (orange) 👍
no robins were hurt in this episode 😁
So that's basically the same as a Holden Torana of the same age... Hmm, drop in a whopping great LS V8. I mean that engine is a GM too so it would be only right, right?
Not bad for a 50 year old car i somehow think today's cars will struggle in 50 years time with all the technology in them 👍
Whatever happened to these......Firenza Magnum , Royale 3.0, Monza coupe???
Hello bud looks good. I'm working just up the road from you at woodmington. Is ok to pop in and have a scan on way home this 1 day this week.
Yes not a problem 👍
Do not get rid of the wheels.!!!!
The diction reminds me of Rowley Birkin QC (Paul Whitehouse)
Looks like the reg on the tax discs could have been its original plate which got removed and then it had an age-related plate issued? Don't mind the wheels but would probably look better on the originals. Sound is better :)
Just look at the space in that engine bay - couldn't get your little finger in one nowdays.
has it got sniff and wind?
I had a white one. Just don’t show it too much water!🤣
Sometimes Darth Vader pops up 😁
8 grand, christ, congrats :-)
I was quite surprised myself , man’s coming to get it next week 👍
@@6DDIESELSDorset Certainly blew my bid out of the water. That's good, hope it goes smoothly.
can you go back and collect that Foden in the background ?
Ha ha just sold it 👍
do u get any vans mate
Occasionally mainly sprinters

I’ve owned over 60 cars and vauxhall viva was the worse one by far had nothing but trouble with it mainly electrics

Is it for sale
On eBay at current 👍
Can’t find it there. Got a listing number?
Found it thanks
Im so disappointed about the lack of scantily clad girls washing it, you could have at least put a bikini on! 😂
I’m in the minority here that actually digs the minilite knockoffs, very period correct racer boy wannabe..
P
Brilliant.
Great video, editing and content.
Subscribed 👍
