Sad to hear you have the same issue with getting your stuff painted like I had. Everywhere the same mess… I took a car apart to pieces, got the bodyshell, doors, hoods to the paintshop. It took him FOUR YEARS to get it painted, and every year I got a bill… I payed surely double the price of a good overall paintjob. Meanwhile my workshop got in financial troubles and I had to take a hole car home in boxes… not to mention that some parts were missing, e. g. rods, pistons… I had to buy another motor, another gearbox and find a new workshop to get it all together again. It worked out, took me 18 years in total, don’t ask for the money… congrats to your nice projects, fortunately you can do the essential work yourself. 👍
I think that must be a world wide painter epidemic, I've had 2 painters screw me on mine 1 ripped me off pushed my car onto the road the second left it sitting outside for 2 years in bar .. the lady guy 3 months finished it and did a cracking job but cost me 18000 aud
Hi Zac excellent video well explained and beautiful transformation, I wouldn’t swap the engine keep everything as original as possible, maybe recover the seats and I’d consider changing the colour of the wheels to let the car itself stand out . Great job nice and simple for enthusiasts. Thanks and keep them coming
Think you missed a trick on this one Zak, you should have got some bed liner spray and done inside your wheel arches once you had removed the old suspension struts, would have really cleaned it up and added that protection you need in that area. Car is looking good though buddy 👌🏻
the white steelies contrast so well with the bronzy vibe! congrats on the maxpeedingrods sponsor deal, I think their products punch well above their weight
Been waiting for the caddy episode. But this more than makes up for it. Had a 2door 79 mk1 that I absolutely regret selling. (all thanks to a shitty paintshop that got me resenting my car)
Great content Zak. What is it with some of these bodyshops? A year and still not done ffs! Some promise the earth. You agree a price and then they start doing jobs that come in after yours. I had a right falling out with one such outfit!
Hey Zak, congratulations with the new mk1… can’t wait to see what you going to do to it. Just want to know where you got the small nozzle on your khacher pressure washer ?
Thanks for that! I just checked the code and it’s working for me. The code is Zaksgar10. Maybe try it on another item in your basket. Any issues let me know 👍
The sound that these 2 cars makes convinced me that a well sorted 2l8v or 16v is more than enough on a mk1. Old video but I always go back to watch it: ruclips.net/video/CpduX_RJ4ms/видео.htmlsi=cNWHzDLeVoaFRXcIruclips.net/video/CpduX_RJ4ms/видео.htmlsi=cNWHzDLeVoaFRXcI
Ah dude, I just love this channel. You always seem so chill and on the level. Keep the spirit of this one!
Ah, great cars. VW MK1 golf production ended in 2009 here in South Africa. Parts are still very much available over here.
I have the exact same model and colour, just finished rebuilding my ABF head and about to strip and rebuild the block.
Just watched the video all the way from south Africa thanks for the motivation
Really enjoyed watching this

Awesome little car you've got there! All things considered it's in great shape and I think you have a little gem.. looking forward to seeing more!

Lovely stuff man, had myself one of the last of the SA MK1 facelift golfs.

This channel is quickly becoming one of my favourites! Great job... I hope you get an ABF motor for your Golf
Great video mate
Following along from New Zealand!

Good tip, should be fine for the summer 😄
Such great work!
VW Mk1 super fan. Owned two of these living in South Africa, looking for one now in UK. Must of paid about £8000 for it.
Congratulation with a new nice car! :) Looking forward to follow this car and the Caddy :)
You lucky bastige. Very nice, great work. 600 quid
the white steelies contrast so well with the bronzy vibe! congrats on the maxpeedingrods sponsor deal, I think their products punch well above their weight
Maxpeedingrods don’t get the credit they deserve tbh, their stuff is really good for the price!
Love your Golf, I reckon 1.8 20v turbo. ❤
Like every other Mk1 Golf, ever??
Here from Burnallthemk1's, great video dude- very enjoyable
Quality work on show,1.8 turbo would be nice if you can.Keep up the great work.👌👍
👍👍👍hermoso quedó el golf 👍
Great looking Mk1 for sure . VR6 12v OBD2 would be my choice . Then supercharge it . Awesome
I mk1 Rocco seats are awesome I just got a pair for my caddy and still lots of room and have good bolsters on the sides :)
Awesome job. I think this car was repainted at some point but it doesn't matter. As a huge VW fan I just love it. Great find.
Looks awesome mate. Just got myself a mk1 too for my channel. Nice to have a driving car too 😂
I'll trim you up some nice recaros when your ready dude, seen as you've got fresh paint it's best to have the interior fresh aswell 🤙🏾🤙🏾
Imagine going into the ulez zone it’s like Cuba with classic cars everywhere
😂

Tidy MK1 and thanks for the Heritage code!
No problem 👍
Great channel. I would swap the engine with the original Mk 1 GTI that was considered as the ultimate hot hatch back in the day
Nice mate welcome to mk1 golf ownership
Great work here from NZ. Love the golf. I would say do VR 6 turbo on air ride.
Wow Mashallah, My husband has the exact same car
Do golf’s have provisions for both left and right hand drive window wipers?
A 1.5 tfsi swap would be sweet for the mk1 Zak. Rolling on Ronal turbo's 😉👍
Keep engine light weight - 16v on bike carbs?
great job so far, you should white the letters to match the rims.
Masha Allah
I also own a 1983 mk1. The original color is the same as yours but i have resprayed it green. I now wish to get it painted back to the oem brown color
Great content Zak. What is it with some of these bodyshops? A year and still not done ffs! Some promise the earth. You agree a price and then they start doing jobs that come in after yours. I had a right falling out with one such outfit!
Should do s full golf r conversion including the full haldex system
Mk7 2.0 tsi golf r swap would be nice, but if vr's are readily available 👌🤙much love from Australia
Yesterday I did a $2000 heritage order ... today I find your channel 😅 no 10% for me
🥲
Love the Mk1, how about a DAZA engine with a DSG gearbox!!!
Could be a good idea 👀
A fan Of Mk.1
1.8 turbo it 🔥
Great video. Banded steels and stretched tyres look good 👌🏻leave the paint alone. Don’t paint the flakey bits..it’s only original once 👍🏻
Hey Zak, congratulations with the new mk1… can’t wait to see what you going to do to it. Just want to know where you got the small nozzle on your khacher pressure washer ?
I got them from halfords but I’m sure you can get them on Amazon
Great video, nice to to see a low spec model restored. Just to let you ok know the discount code for Heritage doesn't work.
Thanks for that! I just checked the code and it’s working for me. The code is Zaksgar10. Maybe try it on another item in your basket. Any issues let me know 👍
What are you painting the engine with?
High temp enamel paint
How much was it purchased for?
I fuck with the coilies an rims
I6v on itbs or carbs, theres rarely a detailed build on the internet
