It's nuts how they managed to make the world map areas massive, then you realise they're they're tiny little sections of world map, it will be interesting to see if when we fly in high wind it shows a scale that matches the world map in the menu or if it will look more like the playable sections stitched together. Great video, I hope they can include the compilation locations you mentioned.
It’s a little strange for sure. I feel like they’ve shot themselves in the foot with this. The map gives the illusion of a big world map, but when it comes to actual play area is tiny. It doesn’t compare well to other games that have legitimately big open world maps. I was personally disappointed with rebirth, the graphical issues and the map being one of them. I didn’t like how they just made large zones, and how it doesn’t actually match up to the map on screen. Then like you said you realise it’s just a really small part of the area you get the play in. There really isn’t much in terms of exploration. Regarding the Highwind, I have no idea how that’s going to work. Are there going to be seepage maps for when you’re flying around? Like there will be a large world map underneath the high wind just like the map screen and then when you descend the screen goes black and loads the area you can actually play in? That sound outdated to me but I imagine it’s going to be something similar. Then again, I felt rebirth had a lot of outdated ideas in it anyway, especially the map and check list copy paste objectives. I had the impression when the first gameplay videos were shown with the grasslands it was going to be much bigger and more explorable than it really was and that feeling followed me throughout the game. I just kept thinking how small everything felt, a lot of “illusion” of scale when the actual play areas were small. Some were okay thought like the golden saucer desert as an example.
@@axelstone3131I’m shocked to hear that you felt the explorable areas seemed small. I thought each area was just the right size. Definitely was bigger than FFXVI. Plus each area had various dungeons and caves. I think once we are able to explore with the Highwind, you will get to see more of the world which is likely explorable in some ways. I’m sure they wanted to save some exploration for the third installment. If you noticed, there were areas of Gongaga that could not be reached even though you could see it in the distance.
I think the areas will look much bigger from the Highwind especially since you will be so high in the sky. They gave us a small preview when flying in the tiny bronco. You could see in the distance how massive each area was.
@@Dis2good you know what I loved remake but felt immensely let down and disappointed with rebirth, it felt dated graphically and from a game design/world map point of view. Personal problems affected how I felt about it and could enjoy it like i used to enjoy gaming. I also pre-ordered the PS5 PRO and plan to play Rebirth again. I think that will make a difference, especially after watching the Digital Foundry comparison video seeing the 2 side by side.
Since I finished rebirth, I've become increasingly confident that we're not gonna be able to pilot the Highwind until we get control of Cid as the Party leader in Mideel. I also believe that the Ultima weapon will attack Mideel twice, once when we get there as Tifa and the second when we go back as Cid. The first fight with Ultima Weapon would be a callback of sorts to chasing it across the map, and while it does so it's going to destroy loads of parts of the map, making more areas accessible. I think the perfect example is the path from the Junon region to Fort Condor. Post weapon attack, you'd now be able to walk there through the destruction that Ultima weapon has caused (and you'd probably see the residents of Fort Condor come out to defend it and probably have a sidequest or two relating to some Fort Condor citizens exploring the world. It'd be a great way to show the devastation the weapons can bring, but also a great way to keep old maps fresh for an entirely new game. It just makes too much sense to me.

@@FinalFanTV I got to give you guys mad props as well. So many other channels are just regurgitating the same information, which is fine I guess. But we should speculate, we should try to fill in the blanks. I'm still convinced that this trilogy is going to somehow turn out to be a "sequel" in other words, the events of the OG timeline already happened, and Sephiroth is like "No, I can't live with that...gotta find a way to change it." And that starts this mutliverse of "worlds" as they call it. I really love the amount of detail that you guys put into fleshing out the map. This is a great video that gets me hyped for what is to come. Sucks we all have to wait SO LONG. And I really hope they stick the landing on this.

I'm a bit divided because I want to continue the journey but I also don't want it to be over. There was that feeling at the end of remake when they all pledged to go hunt Sephiroth and the theme that sounded like positive hope that was playing right before the hollow theme and then it started raining and it saying the unknown journey will continue. Knowing it's all going to conclude in 2027. It'll be sad even if it's a happy ending. To not see the characters journey anymore. Other games aren't going to cut it after that.
Just as about I'm to go sleep, you post this... I'm instantly reminded of the map differences DMs that I sent you. Can't wait to check this out tomorrow!
Great video! In OG with the Gaia mod, if you zoom all the way out, you realize it actually isn’t a globe. It’s exactly what you described here. It just repopulates and is a little curved.
Bone village may still be north due to it originally having dummied data that may have connected it to ancient forest which may originally have connected back to Coral Valley after the events of northern crater. The purple NPC in the north eastern area of the village gave you hints on how to through Ancient Forest and the area to her right may have originally connected to the entrance of the forest
Incredile video! I recorded all my gameplay and I can say without exaggerating that as sson as I left Kalm I spent about 70 minutes playing around with the world map trying to figure out the scale and where exactly the Grasslands were on it. After finishing the game I also did that superimposing of the playable area with the screenshots but not with this quality, and you went far beyond that. That must have been a lot of work. At 5:02 you talk about being able to walk around in all of the playable area and I did that. I took me about 1 hour and 20 minutes to run around the whole map For part 3 I wish they''d use the actual full world map, even if most of it is empty and we have to use some special form of transportation to travel (e.g.. chocobo) in order for it not to take 40 minutes to reach the next town. I know that's not really likely but a man can dream
That's awesome! To have that level of appreciation for the game and the world is truly a testament to how great FF7 is! Thanks for commenting and sharing your hype! And for recognition of the time and work put into making this video! Sincerely appreciate it! Glad you enjoyed!
I absolutely LOVE that you included all of the locations that are from every work of media ff7-related here! I cannot stop thinking about the possibilities of which locations will be integrated into the story and which will be optional exploration. Regarding Ancient Forest, I'm of the opinion that it'll be relocated, much like Temple of the Ancients was. I suspect it'll be aligned somewhere to the north and connect to both Bone Village and The City of the Ancients, traversal-wise.
I imagine if we can fly around on the Highwind that we will rise up into a slightly lower res version of the world map. As we fly over, we either will or won’t be able to land depending on where we are. As we land, there will be a seamless transition to the playable world map. Fingers crossed.
I love these type of videos so much. What side of Midgar woukd you place Edge from AC? Or whatever crazy "bridge" Cloud took to get from Edge to the Forgotten City somehow lol. Or maybe we'll get a Vincent hometown? Then theres Great Glacier/Gaea's Cliff. 😭😭😭 Im so excited
So we really need an FF8 remake too, because if SquareEnix did this and will include every land mass in FF7 series as a compilation...well it's massive. So FF8 cut content land mass can be included, if SquareEnix did a remake of it 😁.
Crazy. This shows how small the world really is in terms of what you can explore. It’s tiny. We have the illusion the world is big but in terms of what you actually explore is very small. Great video. Very good insightful and interesting. Good work 👍🏻
Lo an' behold... The Cartographer of HYPE!! With a promotional image of Cid sitting atop the Bronco, I'd assume he's in the Rocket Town Region where it's looking like a foresty-like area. Also would be cool for Cloud to have a moment near Midgar where Zack originally died too, not to mention the ruined reactor in Modeoheim.
It looks like half a planet maybe from the formation of the clouds and the hinted curvature. So basically this planet has the size of is a tiny, tiny moon, or a small country.

Simply opening up a world map at the beginning of an open world game is enough to get my heart pumping with excitement for the great adventure ahead. ☺ I just wish I could play Rebirth for the first time again. 🥲
Honestly, I can't believe I never made that connection with the shrooms! Good point. So I'd say Ancient Forest is likely that land that protrudes out south of that continent.
Man that would be really cool if we could visit cliff resort, ever since I saw it in advent children I’ve alsways thought it was a really cool looking place. I wish we could ride fenrir open world and wear clouds advent children outfit
A point of criticism. If I'm not mistaken. The Sister Ray should point towards Wutai, no? Right now it's just pointing towards nowhere. Not that it does in the OG either, but I think it's been mentioned somwhere.
Yeah I feel like I remember it being mentioned too - that it could reach Wutai. It's definitely not pointed at Wutai but maybe it can shift left and right as well as up and down? That's the only thing I got to try and make it make sense haha
@@FinalFanTV Cool. And well done on the map! I love this kind of theorizing stuff, and can watch lore videos about FFVII for hours. Just thought this detail was worth keeping in mind. Keep it up! Also. Did you notice that the sun sets into the west in Junon (into the sea), but sets into the East in Costa Del Sol?
Impressive video. But let me show my opinion : Cloud never went to the Grasslands. Let's see why. Transport yourself to any waypoint in the "Grasslands", and then open the world map, zoom into the Meridian Ocean, you will see where exactly you are standing. It's just the eastern part of Junon Region. Please try this if you are interested, and maybe you will want to share your opinion about this.
I'm fairly confident that Cavern of Wonders was near the Northern Crater as a secret mission in CC. Banroa Caverns was where the final boss was in CC. But please correct me if I'm wrong. I'll look into it further soon as I can!
If they do a globe and want it to be similar to Earth just as an example; I think the World of Gaia would mostly be a water world. The explorable landmass is quite small if you want to compare it to a "realistic" planet. Not that it needs to be realistic (It's fantasy after all), but if they do a globe, the curvature of the planet would be painfully obvious when flying around in the highwind, since it's such a small world.
I'm most excited to see the world with Meteor looming overhead. I hope it alters the lighting and makes the game look all gloomy : < Kinda like in 16 but not so bad FPS
Is anyone else hoping they add more things? Like of course they will expand many things. Like traversal and side-quests. But I’m talking about like entirely new areas , maybe even some new characters? I want giant kaiju battles and airship dogfights, i want sweeping cinematics of all the crazy shit that happens in part 3. I want them to just throw everything they have it at and then some. This is the finale. No more holding back square! And plz no stupid kingdom hearts bullshit story-wise, I’m also hoping that when we go back to Midgar, that they expand it. Let the crew spend more time there and let us explore more of the city. If they could somehow create the entirety of the city to explore and find a good reason to have us explore and quest and fight through it, that’d be next level.
Real quick. Whats down there vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv Where the twmple of the ancients is supposed to be ? Absolutely love the speculation but, we all expect they are gonna move some places around . Hell they might put rocket town down where the twmple of the ancients was supposed to be just to fck with us 😆 🤣 . Just saying . Love the content tho . Keep it up
I love it! Although, the game came out in North America on 9/7/27 - so 9/7/27 would be a good date too. Exactly 30 years later. I’ll bet money on either!
Knights of Round will not be in a Cave like in the OG Game. I bet my Butt that Knights of Round is the Materia that Shina/Scarlett working on in the Yuffie DLC and we will get it after the Return to Midgar.
Snowboarding and Submarine battle should be baked right into the story but I think the way to go is making a majority of any other minigames optional. I actually want all the Rebirth mini games to return at The Gold Saucer and them to add even more! And add matchmaking for multiplayer! Haha
@ it wasn’t in the original either. I think they solved it by making Part 1 Midgar only. That’s the best exploration of the city you’ll get. Makes sense to me honestly. Gives new players a reason to play part 1 and old players a reason to revisit playing part 1.
@@Dis2good I think they have to include the return to Midgar as it was a major plot point in the original, although it won't be as extensive as part 1. I was trying to remember how much of midgar you could revisit in the original and I think it's a fair amount with the slums, church and Shinra HQ. It'll be interesting to see how they handle the Weapons and whether you can explore the ocean with submarine as well.
@@Jim_Buck Yeah. I do think they will return to Midgar but i don’t think it will be explorable. I could be wrong lol. I think the submarine will still be there too, but it may be a separate zone from the rest of the world. It might appear connected but hidden through a small cinematic loading screen.
Looking out at Midgar from the cliff = means no Red looking out 500 later? Seeing how much they need to go through, maybe ancient forest and bone village is simply lost, but let's hope not. Phenomenal & astonishing sublime video of awesomeness, you really put a lot of work into this. Glad I could be of some help. GIVE ME THE GLOBE!!!! Maybe the next game starts with a snow storm, making the need to stop at icicle inn.

Simply opening up a world map at the beginning of an open world game is enough to get my heart pumping with excitement for the great adventure ahead. ☺ I just wish I could play Rebirth for the first time again. 🥲
Ancient forest should be close to Gongaga. I kinda thought that’s why they had bouncing shrooms.
Honestly, I can't believe I never made that connection with the shrooms! Good point. So I'd say Ancient Forest is likely that land that protrudes out south of that continent.
I think you are super close and, as usual, A+
I wonder if any of the ever crisis locations from the first soldier will show up in part 3 as places you can visit?
Rebirth was 2 discs, this sonbitch gonna be AT LEAST 3 discs. Can't wait.
Great video man, subscribed!
I think Wutai will be in lower area, something where the Junon cannon points at.
Videos like this is why I subscribed to the channel
Love the map vids!
God i love your videos man! You are the only one that do these kind of analysis🔥
The lil island we get knights of the round
Man that would be really cool if we could visit cliff resort, ever since I saw it in advent children I’ve alsways thought it was a really cool looking place. I wish we could ride fenrir open world and wear clouds advent children outfit
That was a lot of work! Keep it up 👍🏼
Your brilliant I can’t wait for the 3rd installment 😮😮
Shout out to the Warrior of Maps
You better be careful Square is gonna send a cease and desist for stealing Part 3's world map lol. Great video!
Theres still so many secret locations they gotta add
Brought us a banger out the park!
I also personally think that Weapons will cause lot of damage in the map, they will probably destroy those "filler" areas. Nice strategy SE 😏
I can't wait for Pt3
Impressive video. But let me show my opinion : Cloud never went to the Grasslands. Let's see why. Transport yourself to any waypoint in the "Grasslands", and then open the world map, zoom into the Meridian Ocean, you will see where exactly you are standing. It's just the eastern part of Junon Region. Please try this if you are interested, and maybe you will want to share your opinion about this.
Wasn't the cavern of wonders under Banora?
This. Is. So. Dang. Good.
Thank you!! :)
Part 3 is definitely going to be minimal 250gbs
You’ll never see the truth with such cloudy maps
🤣
Cartography on point
Shouldn't Northern Cave be called Northern Crater? Or did SE change the name?
If you tilt the world map it looks like the title icon 😬
I actually think they completed the world now they just gotta fill it out more
I'm most excited to see the world with Meteor looming overhead. I hope it alters the lighting and makes the game look all gloomy : < Kinda like in 16 but not so bad FPS
That's a good point. I definitely think that'll happen! But yeah, I reaaally didn't like the way it looked in FF16.
@5:34 you did not put a little tag
Ahh! Or the picture-in-picture!
@@FinalFanTV 😛
This is some good shit my dude
Thank you!
When It comes to PC I hope some one makes a co op mod, as long as everyone has purchase a legit copy.
I dunno how they are going to actually do part 3 with all the various towns and locations lol. Seems like they will have to do so much work.
They have 3 years to figure it out!
And plz no stupid kingdom hearts bullshit story-wise,
I’m also hoping that when we go back to Midgar, that they expand it. Let the crew spend more time there and let us explore more of the city. If they could somehow create the entirety of the city to explore and find a good reason to have us explore and quest and fight through it, that’d be next level.
Real quick. Whats down there vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv
Where the twmple of the ancients is supposed to be ?
Absolutely love the speculation but, we all expect they are gonna move some places around . Hell they might put rocket town down where the twmple of the ancients was supposed to be just to fck with us 😆 🤣 . Just saying . Love the content tho . Keep it up
ALSO RELEASE DATE FOR THE 3rd game is definitely going to be 7/7/2027 I just know that date is too perfect
The game is gonna be 1TB. 😂
Hopefully, they'll dial back the mini-games...
Snowboarding and Submarine battle should be baked right into the story but I think the way to go is making a majority of any other minigames optional. I actually want all the Rebirth mini games to return at The Gold Saucer and them to add even more! And add matchmaking for multiplayer! Haha
@@FinalFanTV Fair enough, but one thing I want gone... throwing boxes.
Would it even be possible on PS5? Surely the game would take up most of the hard drive, Midgar would be 100GB at least
Midgar was never fully explorable. The world map will take up most of the space. I assume around 200GB tho
I have a feeling Midgar will not be explorable in Part 3, but Square-Enix will make up for it with something else.
Just wait for the game to come out for PC. We will be able to export the 3d geometry and see it all. And MODs to fly and walk through walls haahaha.
Oh, absolutely!! Can not wait! Haha
Anything that takes me away from the god awful revamped story. Enjoyed Rebirths content. Hopefully more of the same with part 3.
Square went full Ubisoft with rebirth and the map. So dull and the same crap over and over.
