    This is what I was talking about on FB!!! The bad ass music, the extra effort given to the b-roll footage. I loved the POV view during fabrication in this video. Genuine quality and care when filming this and editing. Like I said before, you inspired me to do my channel. This level of sleeper building is incredibly inspiring.

      Thank you!!! I try my best with this. Still a lot of improving to do, but that kind of all goes back to my message at the end of the video here....you will never get better unless you keep on trying!

    18:28 You are correct, you weren't born that way! Your passion for auto tech (and fabrication) is pretty rare these days. Most mechanics want to go to work just to get their cheque and just do easy jobs all day.
    20:12 I was inspired! I learned to weld because of you. I am not about to do a rear wheel drive conversion anytime soon, but I'd love to make a custom bracket to mount an M90 to a V6 Accord.

    Have you ever thought about pre fabricating all the brackets for someone like myself? I know there's a lot of actual fabricating that obviously can't be done in advance. But maybe a step by step guide instructions for guys like myself. Great video as always

      Not particularly, no. I know that a lot of people would like to do something like this, but I don't know if I would do something like that.....I am saving all of the cut files from this build so that it will be a breeze to swap the next one, but even then....they aren't perfected enough that I would feel comfortable selling them. The only way I would ever be able to get something like this to truly be the way that I want would be to have a frame table and build it off of a true, level, surface like that. Doing it on jackstands on the floor leaves a lot to be desired haha. The behind the scenes goal here with this car would be to have all of these premade cut files where I could continue to build them and potentially sell complete cars or rollers, but I am just not sure how feasible that would be....As the channel continues to grow it may make it easier to do, but as of right now the financial support/budget just doesn't exist to be pumping these things out. Maybe someday I will have the means to do things differently, but right now the only thing that keeps this going is pure passion to want to build something and to improve on this specific swap method.

      @@AutoTechTyler all of those ideas are amazing. I live down in Cincy with a 94 cutlass sedan that I swapped 5 speed into. but I want to RWD it next and use a supercharged Aurora v8. I was eyeballing using a c4 rear end since it looks very similar but the Mustang subs you've used on these cars look so good. if you refined it down I would be so down for that route.(if you sell patterns/parts). Just out of curiosity what would you have to charge to convert a roller? surely it takes a lot of hours of fabrication. might be hard to balance cost and labor to make it worth it.

    i've always had this concept of a RWD jbody and i'm aware that there are a few of them, i recall the cavaro in particular, but i do hold some critiques on it, mostly do to the fact that he made it V8 and half the car was cut up to accommodate the new drivetrain layout, while that is cool it's more of a camaro that a jbody, thus my idea for a RWD Jbody build would differ in the sense that it would be similar to THIS but with a jbody, basically i instead would like to use the original engine and some chassis parts, even the electrical if possible and whatever other parts i think would work, like how Tyler is doing here

    How do you only have 3k subs content is amazing! Do you have any forums that have helped you with this build? I know it isn’t your first one, but I wanted to try this on a Monte Carlo, any idea if they have the same holes that the Grand Prix does that line up with the Mustang suspension?

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  4 месяца назад +1

      Thank you. I try my best to make decent content. And no, no forums. I can confidently say that I've pioneered this S550 W body conversion on my own. And yes, the Grand Prix shares the exact same holes back there. Best results are to use them as a reference point to start, but still taking the necessary measurements and precautions to ensure proper placement of the subframe. Once this car is completed, the Monte Carlo will likely be the next car I build.

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  4 месяца назад +1

      Oh, and yeah the Monte Carlo should have those same holes. The underside of all these w bodies are the same thing.

  • @shadowwolf5150
    @shadowwolf5150 5 месяцев назад +1

    on the stapleton42 youtube channel he came across a rear wheel converted 04 impala(i think it was 04) and the guy actually ran the driveshaft through the exhaust tunnel. do you think it would be possible to leave the firewall more intact to save you work and also keep the hvac box? youtube has been recommending me w-body conversions like crazy now after i subscribed to you a couple weeks ago and even came across a beretta with an 8.8 and ls. they all have varying degrees of cutting the firewall and floor panels. yours is probably the cleanest ive come across but i just was wondering how much effort it would be to keep the dash and hvac as factory as possible. i enjoy your content and am waiting for the followup to this vid.

    • @Sleepercarsanonymous
      @Sleepercarsanonymous 5 месяцев назад

      I remember that one. It was kinda lifted in the back and wasn’t as stock looking as these builds.

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  5 месяцев назад +1

      For the proportions and overall weight distribution to be somewhat correct it would be nearly impossible to not have to cut the firewall/tunnel. This body just wasn't made for the drivetrain to be in this orientation and the exhaust tunnel isn't very large. The differential, engine, and transmission would have to be pretty low for that to work and even then it wouldn't leave any room for the bellhousing end of the transmission, still requiring some modification. Overall body structure and design differs quite a bit between a FWD and RWD car. I've seen that Impala, talked with him at LSfest 2020 when I only had my black RWD Grand Prix and I have know Eric with the Beretta for quite sometime! Also, The plan here is to cut things at an absolute bare minimum leaving some sort of room for an HVAC box. Albeit, probably not the factory W-body box, but this car will certainly have a complete interior with the A/C if I can help it.

    • @shadowwolf5150
      @shadowwolf5150 5 месяцев назад

      @Sleepercarsanonymous yeah he has a 4 link and a live rear end with a bunch of bracing back there and I guess he wanted room for the slicks as well.

    • @shadowwolf5150
      @shadowwolf5150 5 месяцев назад +2

      @AutoTechTyler small world I guess lol overall it's pretty impressive what you do with these cars. I always felt they were wrong wheel drive and I think GM knew it too. back around 2001ish at our cities auto show GM brought a all wheel drive 2 door ls1 powered grand prix. it was cherry red with some fat tires all the way around. I'm fairly certain that it had the engine in the correct orientation lol I'm sure I still have the picture of it somewhere. if I find it I'll send it to you. my first car was a 1990 lumina and I was a pontiac/buick/gmc tech for 22 years before jumping to another brand so all these w body cars bring back alot of memories for me. I can practically smell the interior of that regal thru the phone haha. nice to see them appreciated and revived into what they should have been. keep up the content and good luck with this one.

      @AutoTechTyler the rwd l36 lim is much better flowing with straight trumpet ports with bell mouth grinding.
      I have flanges for a fab UIM or to adapt the open mailbox fwd L26 plenum onto the f body lim.
      Relocate the alternator to compressor spot or i prefer to modify cs130 horizontal bolt vs later vertical bolt alternator bracket and zzp alternator Relocate kit that moves it over.

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  5 месяцев назад +2

      This will likely be getting an early 2000s mustang GT hydro boost setup as there will not be enough room for the booster once the firewall is cut and the engine is positioned. Personally, I am just a fan of the L26 Intake manifold as my black Grand Prix made 545 wtq/564 whp on one of them. I think it looks better appearance wise as well, but that is all just personal preference. The overall goal with this car is going to be 400-500 whp anyway, so what I've got should be ok. Just wish ZZP sold the HV3 insert still. Accessories will be figured out when I get to that point. I only need the A/C compressor and alternator as I will be using the Mustangs EPAS rack. I would be curious to see the adapter that you are talking about for the F-body LIM with L26 upper though.

This Buick may be the first one I actually attempt to sell. If that goes well and I can make some money on it, then I plan to build a Monte Carlo to sell as well. BUT someone would have to be willing to spend 10-15k on an old W-body....not sure how feasible that really is.
