    As someone who loves W-body stuff, and especially the 3800, I am so happy you continue to make unique builds like this. Will never get over GM dropping the ball and not delivering a proper successor or even a series 4 to the platform.

    Graft tail of fwd pan onto the rwd pan with a trap door. Also suggest a baffle to fix the oil overloading of cyl 4 oil ring due to the large open windage tray/pan gasket for the pickup....i have a couple extra i waterjet for my heaps if ya want one.
    Ditch factory dual layer steel pan for spi aftermarket steels. Single thicker steel layer.
    Near impossible to prevent leaks at weld on oil return bungs on gm dual layer with it holding oil between layers.

    That's 3 W-Body platforms in row! A Pontiac Bonneville, Buick Park Avenue Ultra, or Cadillac Deville/STS would be sweet!

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  7 месяцев назад +2

      I know, but I want to keep honing in my skills of doing this with what I currently know. A Bonneville is definitely going to be the first car I do outside of the W-body line up. Doing this Buick will allow me to make the jigs and cut files for a plasma table that I wasn't able to/didn't do on Suzie. Not to mention that this build here is likely to end up being for sale to help make the next project happen a lot quicker.

    I have a 2006 impala SS I've been contemplating converting to rwd. I found the 2017 cadillac ATS rear track is identical to the stock w body wheel track and same wheel bolt pattern. I'm going to get my hands on one eventually and see what it would be like to mount in the W.

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  6 месяцев назад +1

      I wish you the best of luck on that. The ATS rear would require an extensive amount of modification to the body to fit due to its differing mounting planes for the spring vs the subframe mounts and the non differing planes/spread of the mounting points. Overall design of control arms in that setup would be nearly impossible to fit to the Wbody without a complete restructure and reconfiguragion of the rear of the car.

    • @AutoTechTyler
      @AutoTechTyler  7 месяцев назад +2

      I mean, in all reality. If someone who wanted to do this couldn't figure out how to make that jig on their own, then I doubt they'd be able to do the rwd conversion anyway. It's a very labor-intensive and intrusive process that is not for the faint of heart. There is not a single aspect of it that doesn't require custom fabrication and welding. I only share the process to help inspire others to achieve something of their own. Never know the type of inspiration that can be sparked from what I'm doing here. I do plan to continue building them, and if I feel the quality is acceptable, I will be selling them. I won't be offering it as a service, but I would be selling already completed swaps. It's a niche market, but some weirdo like me would want one haha

      Yes. I've gotten a lot of "should've done a 4 door " and "should've kept it 3800" on the other cars. So, what better car to keep the buick engine in than a Buick Regal. Those 3800s are pretty stout when they're built right.
