    I just graduated with my BSN in May and I accepted a public health nurse position! I’ll be working with the maternal newborn population. I help first time mamas from their first trimester of pregnancy until their baby turns two. We give them education regarding their pregnancy, labor and delivery, how to take care of their baby, and how to make positive life choices. It’s an evidence based program that has multigenerational impacts. I had no idea that the health department offers so many services to our community and that nurses are needed to provide that education, support, and guidance. I’m super excited ❤️

    I have been a nurse for 15 years now. I went to many different areas including Aesthetic and occupational health. Unfortunately, all areas of nursing your are going to experience: exploitation, exhaustion, anxiety and lots of stress due to " blame on the nurse" reason most nurses want to quit nursing all together. No matter where you go, at the end the day you are a "Nurse"

    • @sulla1537

      I’m looking at possibly transitioning into nursing. Is it true you’re always running around like a chicken with your head cut off as you say?
      Flight nurse would be the goal due to what I’m perceiving as a decreased workload (Youre only dealing with 1-2 albeit unstable patients at a time for an entire flight) and $$$ (Because of my age and trying to play catch up).
      Either way, if it’s constantly high stress like you’re implying idk if it’s worth it

    • @abbyhenderson9574
      @abbyhenderson9574 2 года назад +2

      Like the video shows, there are tons of things you can do as a nurse and so many avenues you can pursue. Not many people are 100% sure of what they want to do when they start college. I'm in nursing school right now and there are days that I'm not 100% sure either. For me, I know that I like science, learning about disease processes, volunteering/making a difference, and the job flexibility that comes with nursing. I also know that I can be a nurse pretty much anywhere which is great because I don’t know where I will end up after graduation (so many possibilities)! Nursing is a good fit for me but it's completely okay not to be sure or to look at different careers.
      My advice would be to make a list of the things that are important to you in a career (interest/passion, working hours, flexibility, locations, pay, work environment, balance, ability to move into different positions etc). Keep that list with you during college apps and try to find which major fits what you want from your career best. Also, no degree or career is perfect, it's what you make it! Sorry that this was super long!
