In a C.S. Lewis book I think it’s called the problem of pain, he talks about this. Saying how sometimes the people who seem the nicest, successful, most well together people go through the harder things.. one of his theories is that it’s because sometimes if we have everything we want and can even seem humble about it, we can still feel like we don’t need God. Or don’t recognize Him as God, and it can lead us to bad places, so in some instances it’s actually God’s Grace for people to go through tribulations to bring them to Him. It’s a good read.
@@snek_47 What do you want us to say? Why are you asking this? For inner peace, to challenge ourselves? We have brought these sins upon ourselves, and even if we curse God and ask: Why do you allow such sins to happen!? Yet you starting committing sin yourself? Just starting the chain again? We are all the cause of it. Sin is not of this world, death is not of this world. I do not know. And that is why we need God.
Once I was walking with Jesus in a vision. I asked Him why He allowed certain suffering in my life, including my ex taking my four precious children away from me. He answered, “To form My character in you”, and He kissed my forehead. That was all the answer I needed. I have interceded for hundreds and thousands of souls in the past excruciating seven years, than I would have if I never lost my children. BUT God is still going to fight for me and give them back to me!!! I will never lose hope, never stop believing.
I hope in His promises!!! Keep going and thanks for the prayers you have prayed. You probably saved me and my family’s life once or twice because of it. God bless man. You’re forever needed in the kingdom!
I love your videos when it comes to Christian and not Christian content because you often have a nice balance of comedy and truth that really gets you thinking through the laughs. Keep it up.
As some who lost her mom 2 months ago very suddenly due to a car accident, something that I keep to mind are words that a pastor told me, “Death is not the greatest tragedy”. When your world is forever changed in a way you didn’t expect so very suddenly, God is the only One you can cling to. And He, in all His faithfulness, gave me strength and comfort. I know for a fact that if it hadn’t been for Him, I would’ve been way worse for wear. At least I can have comfort in the fact that I, and the rest of my family will meet my mom again one day in heaven.
@@wettoaster34 Your own pain doesn't make the pain of others irrelevant. Everyone ia suffering. Help if you can, shut up if you can't. Ask for help if you need it. Don't use your suffering as an excuse to be a dick
Woah, I was expecting a punchline and for you to make fun of Christianity. I’ve just seen your sketches before didn’t realise you were a Christian. So cool!☺️. You’re right, most ppl in the West know the basic gospel but feel they can’t believe because of this topic. Thank you for making this video. You managed to hold that tricky balance of being very sensitive to people’s pain and honest that you (like all of us) don’t fully know at the end of the day and can’t tie up everything with a bow- and still explain your observances of how God can still be good in a world of pain. I agree with you. I once attended a small church where there was a boy who couldn’t walk and also had a strong cognitive disability. Yet the whole church doted on him (pastor included) and showed him so much love, I don’t think he would know why people pitied him. If only we always treated people like him like that. With our culture that prioritises individualism, autonomy and comfort above all things, I think the pain of others helps us to care for others way more than we would have otherwise. It reminds us that we ultimately can never find fulfilment in chasing pleasure, comfort and whatever we feel like because we were made to love God and others
I don't think most people know the gospel in the western world. I think most people have heard of the gospel and have heard of Jesus. The actual fact is that this question is a part of the gospel message. The answer to why there is evil is because Adam sinned and therefore sin is in the world. Jesus is the answer to sin and is therefore the answer to evil. Like the follow up "why do children get cancer" first because sin(unmerited disfavor) is in the world, also because parents 1 believe their child can get cancer, and 2 don't declare that their children can't/won't get cancer(this is a promise to/for those who are saved). Another reason is so that God will get the glory out of their healing.
Most people don't know the gospel. Not anymore. Heck, most people call themselves Christians in the west still. But they think being a Christian means just believing in God and trying the best you can to be a good person. How many people actually understand the substitutionary atonement of Jesus? Almost none.
Damn! I didn't expect this at all I was expecting something incredibly wacky, but what I found was something deeply profound. I actually have thought about these things before now, and I'm incredibly grateful to have come across it in this form. God bless you, brother and everyone else watching. God is good!
You don't know. I don't either. But don't say 'we' don't, or that we can only have a close enough answer. Not all of us are at the same level in our knowledge of God.
I'm really sorry I have faith that God will be with you though and he will heal your mother. God bless you, may you all prosper in the kingdom of the Lord Jesus has already died for all iniquities and by his blood we are healed. I reject any cancer cells in your mothers lungs and they will go back to where they have been sent from in Jesus mighty name Amen
@@Followerof_ChristIf your mother has lung cancer, you could start by temporarily using your time to do other things than just hope everything goes right.
Yup---my 3 y.o. nephew died of cancer about a year ago, and I saw God's grace poured out on the family like never before. One day, we thought the kid was gonna die any moment and went over to say goodbye. After I stepped out of the hedroom where he lay in his mother's arms squalling in pain, I started crying. My nephew's father took me in *his* arms and comforted *me* while *his* son laying dying in agony just across the threshhold. That's the grace of God poured out, brothers and sisters! God uses evil for good and is made strong thru our weakness! He teaches us what is valuable by stripping away what we thought we needed and causing us to rely on him alone. (Kinda reminds me of lembas bread, although obviously God is greater than fictional bread.)
Sorry, but... Does that mean you "didn't need" you nephew and so God got rid of him?! I knew God was a cruel cosmic horror, but this is beyond horrific.
@haitaelpastor976 I didn't need my nephew in order for me to have e an enjoyable life, but I enjoyed the boy's presence. God made humans for companionship with himself and with other humans. However, should there be no humans available for companionship, God is sufficient to fill the gap. My use of the word "need" was written with the book of Job in mind. God allowed Satan to strip Job of his wealth, his children, and his health. Although Job did argue with God, Job ultimately found God sufficient for all that he needed and realized that to impugn God is prideful, dangerous, and foolish. Beware your words, sir: you do not scream into a void your blasphemy. "The eyes of the Lord are in every place, keeping watch on the evil and the good." God knows that you have dishonored him. He offers you salvation, if you will only repent. He loves you so completely that He died for you. God is no "cosmic horror." He took the horror of wickedness and absolute isolation from a relationship with him on himself (God the Father looked away from God the Son when he was on the cross). God endured the horrors that we deserve in order to offer us redemption and eternal life with him thru the death and resurrection of his Son. Do not decry him; God is not mocked.
@@haitaelpastor976well i think they meant it as in, like, none of us absolutely need someone to just merely exist for us to be alive/sustainable, it’s just that family is so very important that it seems like that to us, but God may take one or two away from us to let us learn a new way to approach and handle the situation, I’d know.
@@EditorSquare. Let's say it's God's way of teaching something, a quite cruel way of teaching btw, by killing a child letting him rot of cancer. Aren't we supposed to go to a perfect heaven when suffering and need will no longer be? What use do we have for such education then?
The hell we experience is most often our own reactions to circumstances that don't go our way. Not always, but in my 76 years on this rocky ball we call Earth, I've noticed this. Most of the misery I've endured has been of my own mistaken perceptions. True, there have been genuinely terrible events. But, most of the darkness has been of my own doing, fearing terrible outcomes when in reality they never came. If I could edit that out, my life would have been 75% better.
I've always thought about it like, if you spend x amount of time worrying about an outcome that has only 2 possibilities, one good and one bad, and the good one came about, you spent 50%of your time worrying about nothing. 3 possibilities, 66%. 4 possibilities, 75%. At the end of the day, only one thing can come about. Allow yourself to be spurred to action to make the possibility you want to come about happen, but don't waste your time worrying about it.
1:02, Oddly enough, this same debate isn’t just applied to God not preventing bad things from happening, but also in other topics like government, parenthood and even entertainment regarding characters like superheroes (such as Superman). And in all of these is the question of how much should someone with power use it before it becomes considered controlling and how much should they refrain from using it before it considered neglectful. Even though people don’t wield divine power and they may never be able to comprehend the burden of responsibility that kind of power implies, people can still be faced with that same kinds of questions, the same decisions on wether to do or not do something and weighing the consequences of that action or inaction, yet at the same time, people will blame those with power for whatever decision they make while sometimes not recognizing the affects of their own, retreating into their own egos in response to pain rather than realizing their struggles are not always too disimilar from the very people they blame. Taking religion or politics out of the equation, humility in any context is necessary for true wisdom, accepting their are things beyond our control that we just have to live with and being able to let go and move on from fearing and hating those things and the pain they cause, living whatever’s left of the life you have doing whatever’s right be you or those you value. And the end of it all, it’s all anyone can really do.
This is such a thoughtful, nuanced and intelligent response. The end about humility being a prerequisite to wisdom is absolutely right! Thanks for sharing this
No that’s not it. Without God it leaves you without hope and uncertainty true wisdom doesn’t come when leaving God out of the equation humans on their own caused so much chaos and suffering their own wisdom doesn’t help other people in their situation when they live a life contrary to what other people live through. Humans caused pollution, wars, illnesses, crimes, destruction, and killings in other people’s life, and humans on their own created these tragedies. Suffering brings questions in those who put God aside they accept the fact they will never know and those who get closer to God in suffering realize that evil acts come from humanity and trusting in humanity will lower society mentally, will leave homeless children helpless, put selfishness on top, and think to themselves what is good to their own eyes. With God you have hope and assurance and without God you accept your grievance and learn to walk down of path of uncertainty just accepting the way things are without changing. Egos come humanity not Christianity. If we learn to accept that humanity is evil and corrupt and to reject that corrupt and be Christ-like then would humanity strive and not fall as it always has. I went through so much suffering in life with many questions and everytime I was present with atheism it leaves me with more questions that cannot be answered leading down a path of hopelessness and despair. Come to Christ my friend. That’s true Wisdom.
My beloved mother died of stomach cancer in 2021, after months of suffering. Despite being covid-19 negative, I was not even able to get near and hug her prior to her passing, due to the measures set by the lockdowns. She was a staunch and prayerful Catholic, and a pillar of moral fortitude and of effaced strength, for all of us her children and her grandchildren. Grieving, looking her emaciated tiny body, I questioned God 'Why?' With the grief came the realization that I simply have to "Be still and know that God is God." That answer is enough for me.
The hardest realization is that we don’t have all the answers to the “why” questions. Especially nowadays when we have so much information at our fingertips.
My mother was recently diagnosed with cancer and has also been dealing with heart failure, it has given me more faith in God. i do hug my mom tighter, my prayers are more honest and really pray without ceasing. God is good and this is when the faith that we talk about in Him is when is needed. His grace is enough for me and everything else is awesome extra that i will happily accept.
So grateful we have people saying this. My youth group is amazing at sharing the gospel, and it works it really does, we’ve seen dozens of lives changed for Christ, but we’re also being taught how to answer these hard questions. My church had a sermon on it recently; either you use the trials god gives you as stepping stones to help others and grow closer to god, or they become stumbling rocks in your way.
Or as one of my favorite verses puts it simply: “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4 In other words, these hardships instill qualities in us that we need not only for the advancement of God’s kingdom, but for the betterment of the world as a whole. As God is a God of justice, he knows what strengths and weaknesses need to be nurtured in us in order to bring the proper order and justice to the world in due timing. And only He knows what and when that is. We’re just a small part of a much bigger picture. So, we may never understand exactly why we’re going through something specific, but at the very least, we can know for certain that our suffering is not the end of our story. 💛
@@Himmiefan he created humans, while knowing all the awful suffering they would go through. He still chose to do it, and he had every chance to change something about the universe to make free will and suffering compatible, or just… not make the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Your stories make no sense. That’s why I don’t believe in this nonsense. Even if you could prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that YOUR specific god exists (which you can’t), you still have to give me a reason to actually worship that god other than hell, because based on all the stories, he sounds like a genocidal maniac.
Yeah you can, when God created the world there was no evil in it. There was no death, it was only when Adam and Eve disobeyed that corruption entered the world. There is good news however, Jesus Christ took the punishment for our sins. All of us have sinned, the Bible says this, and that the wages of sin is death. Jesus Christ is the son of God, and he bore our sins in his body and died for them on the cross. It did not end there however, because 3 days later he rose from the grave! Jesus Christ is Lord and he wants to heal your heart and save your soul! Repent and follow Jesus!
I lost my grandmother to cancer in my 20's. I asked her once why she always kissed me 3 times. She told me about her and a group of friends who lost one of their friends , and how they would always kiss each other 3 times in remembrance of her for here, always , and forever among friends.
Amen. Through trials and tribulations we can overcome and build a stronger relationship with god. Also, man made many illnesses due to their sinful ways. Devil destroys and god builds
I appreciate you and your obedience to share the Truth to a starving world plagued with hate ,chaos , and deception. I hope all my Facebook friends enjoy this short as much as I did
That was a very personal and compassionate answer in the face of a difficult subject. I truly commend you for it. But let it be known, Christians, that our faith teaches that such things happen because we no longer live in a perfect world. God made the world perfect at the start, but because we have a propensity for sin, a la Adam and Eve, Cain and Able, and every other bibilical figure outside of Jesus, we cannot coexist with perfection. There is much more to this discussion that I am so far from qualified for speaking on that I will stop here with just the basics. God bless everyone ❤ And just on a personal note, whenever I go through difficult things, when I feel at the end of my rope I pray sincerly "please God, show me what I need to take from this, guide me to understanding and bring me closer to you" I love our LORD GOD and hope to always see what He wants me to see, hear what He wants me to hear, and learn what He wants me to learn. Taking bad situations as a potential for new understanding always makes them seem less burdensome and helps me grow as a person and as a Christian.
My Dad died of liver cancer in 2012. I was with him the last nine months of his life. I was his care taker. No one else wanted to be! Not his siblings, nor his exs. Just his son. His only living child. It was tough! Not only helping him, and caring for him. Along with all the work around the house, and caring for his animals. But also the same people who didn't want to help him was trying to steal him blind 24/7! I had to change the locks on his house so while we were gone to his Chemo treatments, they couldn't get in the house! He passed away that July. His Will was very clear, but I still had to fight the VULTURES daily! It took six months to wrap up everything. I was so exhausted, in many ways I still haven't recovered! But if I had to go through all that again for my Dad, I would do it. As he took his final breaths, I sat on the bed beside him, holding his hand. I told him I loved him, and would miss him everyday for the rest of my life. I have! I miss him right now; as I write these words.
Thank you for sharing these very true words. One thing I have also come to learn in my personal experience is that even in the hardest of times, God remains ever-present in our lives, and it is in those times we should draw even closer to Him and not farther away because He gives us the peace and comfort that no one and nothing in this world will ever be able to give. God identifies with our sufferings because He knows what it feels like to lose someone special; He gave His own Son, Jesus Christ to endure so much suffering in this world and to die for us to be saved beyond this world. If God gave us these feelings we have towards our loved ones, try to imagine how God feels towards us whom He loves, when we are hurt or heartbroken and longs to comfort us with His peace. So no matter what we may face in this world, it will all be worth it in the end when, amid our hardships, we choose to hold on to Jesus, who will always be with us and comfort us through it all. “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Psalm 34:18) “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4) “These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
I really like the video - you definitely hit on some crucial truths, especially about pain not being about you. I just learned that. But I feel like it’s also very important to take into account what the fall caused and meant…
Sadness paves the way for greatness. You know that scene from Inside Out where Joy realizes the core memories start with a sadness that leads to the opportunity for happiness? That’s what I’m talking about.
Corrie Ten Boom’s quote often comes to mind: “God’s will is what I would choose for my life if I could see it from God’s perspective.” Coming from a concentration camp survivor who lost her sister and father, that sentiment holds worlds of depth. She says she would’ve green-lighted the same pain for herself again if she had known the “why”.
I'm unfamiliar with your channel, and clicked this half-expecting a punchline delivered via insult. I'm pleasantly surprised, thank you. That is a hellish question to answer, but the short version is: God allows free will, which allows evil into the world. The only way we know it is evil is by comparing it to good...His good. And you're absolutely right, the evil and death that infected this place through sin can absolutely be used by Him for incredible spiritual growth and closeness, turning it into something unexpectedly beautiful.
Damn Read! That was so beautiful. I think this is so true there's not always and answer sometimes we can't know why things are happening but how we respond can mean everything and I think in those times it's important to look to Jesus as an example so that no matter what is happening we always respond with love.
There is an answer to the question--however, it is one that most people these days don't very much like. Death was not supposed to exist. When sin was introduced into the world, then was death, but we were never supposed to sin. This is why "evil" exists: It is the result of the rebellion against GOD. Now we are all born into sin. GOD, however, is an infinitely gracious one. Now through faith merely in Him, we are saved, as Jesus has paid the debt for us. Through Him we get an (albeit, undeserved) incredible opportunity to live in perfect Paradise as we were made by GOD and intended to! Of course this is merely my mortal understanding of it. But one thing I am yet certain of: ALLELUIA!
God is good, but God is also love but God is also judge. Growing up i used to joke about what I'd do if i were God. But now as a young adult, finally I understand that being God is something i wouldn't ever want to do. It's hard enough to be a judge, then a good judge and then to be LOVE. How? To balance Law and Love is like torture and yet he does. The world has so much evil we complain but have we ever truly thought about how much pain the one who has the power and will to take away all that pain but is held back by the fact that he has to be just? How much pain the one who wants to Loves us feels Everytime we do something that harms oir own soul? How much pain God feels when he knows that a day will come where he will Judge the ones he loves, for the evils and pains they brought to others... Yet, despite all the wrong they did, he loves them and with love in his heart he will pass a judgement unto them. I can only imagine the magnitude of pain, frustration and hopelessness a parent can feel when they reach out their hand to their child hanging on the cliff while the child refuses to take their hand. "I the lord God doesn't feel joy when sinners die" "i do not take pleasure in the death of the wicked" Ezekiel 18:23 There is so much pain in the world and there is even more pain in the heart of the one who loves every one of us who are in pain
Wow. Yeah. THIS is the sort of answer we need to be giving. We dont need to know everything or have all the reasons or logical answers. None of us are omniscient, it's ok to not know.
I find this to be so true!! Despite all the suffering Job and Joseph went through in the Bible, not only did they come out better than they were before, but we are still influenced by their stories centuries after when those events took place.
“Sometimes He calms the storm. Other times He calms His child” are the lyrics of an old song (Sometimes He Calms the Storm) by Scott Krippayne released in 1995. This song has gotten me through some difficult times in my life and provided me with immeasurable peace.
'To really feel the joy in life You must suffer through the pain When you surrender to the light You can face the darkest days If you open up your eyes And you put your trust in love On those cold and endless nights You will never be alone' These words often bring me comfort.
Didn't think I'd be watching a based Christian RUclips clip today. I was raised Catholic, and you don't see a lot of content like this online anymore. Subbed for your comedy and for your sentiments!
I lost my aunt and cousin from a drunk driving crash on the 4th of July 2012. They were hit by an illegal immigrant who was driving on the wrong side of the interstate. That Sunday, my dad had already made a sermon series, and it was the preplanned week to talk about Jesus raising Lazarus from the dead. then a year later my uncle, who was killed by a drunk driver in a truck. My uncles body was dragged underneath the truck till he nearly became a puddle. I have a small family, so with these deaths, it made it even smaller. Life is short. But, GOD IS GOOD. Remember; the Bible teaches that there is a fate worse than death. Spiritual death.
That is a great answer to "why is there suffering?" it is a common misconception that because God is good and all knowing that He should be preventing terrible things from happening. In my experience, it is the great times that keep us going but the times of suffering that truly help us to grow. Example: back in 2017 I was floating without any idea with what I wanted to do with my life then my cat went into liver failure. The week he was hospitalized was the hardest and most stressful week I had but because of that event I was able to pick a direction for my life and became a veterinary technician. This is a small example but in most of the big suffering points in your life, I encourage you to look at the fruits of that event and how it changed you.
Jesus warns following him, we will be faced with even more suffering because we believe in him. Through the suffering and surviving, people may come out stronger on the otherside.
What made me believe in God is when my grandmother was diagnosed with Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer and she beat it and is still alive till this day. All of the doctors said she should’ve died. That really made me believe that there’s gotta be something that decides when it is time for us to go and why I try to donate to causes like cancer research.
My father died of cancer, and my mother of dementia. I echo this sentiment, even though I don't identify as Christian. Whether it's capital G God, or little g god, or the universe as a thing in and of itself, the very miracle of life and the opportunity to love and be love is incredible. Every moment is so very precious. It's a good reminder to use each moment for love and joy and not for anger.
"I don't know" is one of the most important things we can share. I think we're put on Earth to love each other, and that Love is worth living for. I'm looking forward to hearing what else you have to say. I am not a Christian any more, but I do practice Christianity.
I have a friend who just a diagnosis that cancer they thought was under control had spread. She's basically just someone I knew from work and kept in contact with; we weren't really that close. But it's hitting me hard right now. Probably because my mom died young from cancer, when I was barely a teen. (My friend is in her 30s, I think?) And this had me thinking back to her. I've been a believer most of my life, but never good at praying, but this has me praying. And it is a comfort knowing I'll see her on the other side, as I'm fairly sure she also is. Anyway, thanks for the video, it's rather moving. (I'm probably going to have to go do a re-read of A Grief Observed again now.)
I heard a good analogy from Cliffe Knechtle. God made our hand to shake another persons hand to show love and respect. But we also have the choice to slap and harm that person. God did not intend it be that way nor did he intend for any of his creations to be used for evil. Nothing God makes is evil, all good, unfortunately most things have been corrupted through humanity’s free will
I have never had a life I wanted to keep.. suffering horrific abuse, abandonment and neglect and isolation- total isolation, and being a mother to my siblings when I was also just a child.. this suffering which made me constantly depressed and suicidal, despite all this I pressed on and was grateful. I had no other choice. I clung to god with every last broken piece of myself. All I went through.. is not even a fraction of the pain I know some others have faced. And now after everything, no matter how good I was, how hard I tried, I just can't believe in God anymore. I think if there was a God who loved, and was good, he would stop all this pain. There is a lot of beauty and love in this world- bit nothing that comes close to making the darkness worth it. We fear death and pain, and so we create reasons to sooth ourselves and make it seem okay.. This is the only place I can say this. My family and my dying mother need all the strength they can have.. soon I will have no parents left. My dad left and when my mom goes ill have to take care of my younger brothers once more, we'll I already am in many ways.. I'm scared, but I'm not afraid of death.. I'm afraid of life. Everyone relies on me.. Now I'm an adult I'm not isolated like I used to be, but in some ways I am just as alone..
I'm really not sure how I feel about replying, but the main reason I am is because I feel as though you may still be seeking answers, despite claiming you can't believe anymore. I completely understand, and don't even expect you to change your mind, but because my heart really does ache for you: I'll go ahead and say this. Although, I'm sure you already know. The story of Job speaks to me strongly here, and I'm sure people may have thrown it at you once or twice. I don't believe I'm qualified to tell you what means, but to me it's a story about innocent suffering of the righteous. The bible tells us the innocent may suffer, even those truly devoted to God. However, it also promises us that if we truly humble ourselves before him, understand that he is enough always, and trust him completely, he will deliver us from our suffering. It might take awhile, but ultimately he will lead us in the right direction. The most powerful moments and works of God happen with the most broken, and for God nothing is too broken. It doesn't make it okay, it doesn't make it right, and a lot of times it doesn't make us feel better , but it is hope, and hope is powerful. I don't judge you, I don't blame you, and I know I could never understand the pain you've been through, but I will pray for you.
I'm sorry you have suffered so greatly, and I was hit hard when you said "I'm not afraid of death.. I'm afraid of life." It sounds like you don't want to live but are worried about how your death would negatively affect others. I hope you can find a way to get some enjoyment out of life, but in the meantime, know that I also agree with you that, if God was loving and good, things would be much better.
I love the answer you give here at the end. I also really like the bit about ultimately not knowing why there's evil and suffering in this world. We cannot fathom the mind of God. Job, in his righteousness, could not perfectly fathom why he had to go through so much suffering. But despite not knowing, we trust that God has good reasons for all that we go through. We might not know, but God knows, and perhaps that is enough.
Thank you for your words. I do not understand many things myself, but I don't need to, because I trust God 100%. If someone asked me this, I probably wouldn't be able to answer, but that's okay. Jesus is good, bless you all!
because God is good, we came to this earth to learn what it was like to be happy but because there's opposition in all things, we had to learn what it was like to feel pain to learn what it was like to feel joy we wouldn't understand what happiness was if we didn't feel sorrow
Hey, I am a very strong Christian, and, firstly, love the video! second, i love to understand things, to a fault at times. but I remember that I'm not supposed to know all things. ultimately, that's what faith is. it is perseverance, its hope, even when you can't say 100% for certain. Because if we had all the knowledge that God does indeed exist, where's the agency in that? if we know all things, there's not much agency. So, thanks for this! God bless you!
@@HungryWarden I mean, there is agency there, because it's your choice to believe and take action. I'm not a mindless robot following a book. I sin. I repent. I'm not perfect. Because I have my agency to choose things outside that book. So, yeah. there is.
@@dustycouch4526 you don’t really choose to believe something. You can pretend to or do everything associated with a belief, but if it doesn’t convince you, you’re not really believing. You’re convinced, so it wasn’t really a choice to believe, rather, it was a choice for you to consume knowledge relating to the bible, and you were eventually convinced. I suppose there is some agency in deciding to actually serve this monster, but most people just get indoctrinated by their parents.
Good words of wisdom there. We have to remember we live in a fallen, sinful world, so things are disordered and suffering is inevitable. Furthermore, suffering can either makes us grow strong (growing pains) or break us. We have to decide what we want to do with the crosses that come our way in life. Best way to handle any suffering is relying on God’s help, otherwise it’s easy to get crushed.
I lost my uncle from cancer, he was not a believer but I hope in his last moments he at least considered seeing Jesus. I also am taking care of a family friend's cats because her brother is dying from cancer as well.
Wow I got goosebumps run down my legs! And unironically I’m alone and think I might have skin cancer which yikes but I know God is good even when I’m insecure, he is not.
Y'know, I'm really glad that God came to me as when I was 12. Granted, I'm 14, but I'm very sensitive. I don't think that I'll never have a grip on my emotions, and he knows that. So when I face something as painful as loss, without him, I'd think I'll just go insane. But now? I know that there is better tomorrow, for God wouldn't have sacrificed his son for no reason. To those who are randomly scrolling across this comment, I ask that you just genuinely talk to God. Even if you're angry or sad, know that he isn't that type to just wait for you to fall, but instead, the type of person to help you back up again in your darkest moments. The type to never give up on you, to help you on your way to heaven. The type to always tell you that he always loved you. No matter what you've done, his arms are still wide open to accept you. God bless you, and good day.

Well said!
This video doesn’t actually answer the question the non-Christian poses, it just tries to give advice on how to look better deal with bad situations

Yes it does. He says "honestly I don't know". That is an answer to the question.
Most people don't know the gospel. Not anymore.

@@haitaelpastor976a cruel cosmic horror? What do you mean?
The hell we experience is most often our own reactions to circumstances that don't go our way. Not always, but in my 76 years on this rocky ball we call Earth, I've noticed this. Most of the misery I've endured has been of my own mistaken perceptions. True, there have been genuinely terrible events. But, most of the darkness has been of my own doing, fearing terrible outcomes when in reality they never came. If I could edit that out, my life would have been 75% better.
Thank you.
Thank you for sharing your wisdom!
Thank you brother.
Cancer has been more painful than I could have imagined, but by God's grace, I will shine his light to everyone I can.
Underrated comment for REAL!
This is such a thoughtful, nuanced and intelligent response. The end about humility being a prerequisite to wisdom is absolutely right! Thanks for sharing this
@@thesetapartchannel Thank you. Both of you.

Grieving, looking her emaciated tiny body, I questioned God 'Why?' With the grief came the realization that I simply have to "Be still and know that God is God."
That answer is enough for me.
That really hits deep. Also helped me if i would tell other people about the word. God bless us all ❤️ 🙏
The hardest realization is that we don’t have all the answers to the “why” questions.
Or as one of my favorite verses puts it simply:
“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” James 1:2-4
In other words, these hardships instill qualities in us that we need not only for the advancement of God’s kingdom, but for the betterment of the world as a whole.
Dude's acting is so good in this skit it has to be genuine. Much love for you, sounds like you been through a lot too.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit”
(Psalm 34:18)
“Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, Who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." (2 Corinthians 1:3-4)
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

"Just because God is good that doesn't mean only good things will happen to you." OOF
Just remember, when your going through any type of pain, Jesus is suffering with you. ❤🙏
Damn Read! That was so beautiful. I think this is so true there's not always and answer sometimes we can't know why things are happening but how we respond can mean everything and I think in those times it's important to look to Jesus as an example so that no matter what is happening we always respond with love.
Absolutely

Saving this one in my Playlist "christ facts"
God is the only hope you can find in any hopeless situation. That is the truth.
I used to ask the same thing to Christians... Now I am a Christian❤
"Because GOD is with them..." ❤
"I don't know" is one of the most important things we can share. I think we're put on Earth to love each other, and that Love is worth living for. I'm looking forward to hearing what else you have to say. I am not a Christian any more, but I do practice Christianity.
Came in expecting a joke and ended with tears in my eyes ❤
Nothing God makes is evil, all good, unfortunately most things have been corrupted through humanity’s free will
I’m hearing a lot of “God good, people bad”.
@@youdontneedtoknow1372praying won’t help. Don’t waste your time.
I'm sorry you have suffered so greatly, and I was hit hard when you said "I'm not afraid of death.. I'm afraid of life." It sounds like you don't want to live but are worried about how your death would negatively affect others. I hope you can find a way to get some enjoyment out of life, but in the meantime, know that I also agree with you that, if God was loving and good, things would be much better.
chills up and down my spine
Amen! Praise Jesus:)
because God is good, we came to this earth to learn what it was like to be happy
but because there's opposition in all things, we had to learn what it was like to feel pain to learn what it was like to feel joy
we wouldn't understand what happiness was if we didn't feel sorrow
So much about this world teaches us without us realizing it... look at nature
To be fair, there’s no agency in doing whatever a book told you to do either.
It must be said. As long as human emotions continue to exist, evil will always exist.
( Happy Christian noises )
That was beautiful, sir. Thank you. ❤
I lost my uncle from cancer, he was not a believer but I hope in his last moments he at least considered seeing Jesus. I also am taking care of a family friend's cats because her brother is dying from cancer as well.
That is... just so beautiful, in just a painful way. Instant subscription.
Thank you.
Wow I got goosebumps run down my legs! And unironically I’m alone and think I might have skin cancer which yikes but I know God is good even when I’m insecure, he is not.
Thank you and God Bless you🕊
To God, whatever brings us closer to Him is “good” and whatever pulls us further from Him is “bad”.
"Though He slay me, I will hope in Him..." Job 13:15
God bless you, and good day.
yooooo uncle Choi 😭😭😭😭😭😭may God bless you! Love from Mozambique
I thought this video was gonna throw shade at Christians but I’m so glad it ended up being wholesome. It’s so beautiful when a man loves Christ❤
This feels so genuine and I resonate with what he’s saying, but the zooming in did not help lol
