This totally works. After several trials and many errors later, I figured out the conversion fails if you have previously downloaded books from an upgraded kindle version. So to get it working, do exactly as this guy says but make sure to re-download your kindle books to the 1.17 version. So, for those of you who have had an upgraded version of kindle and want to try these trick, do as follows: 1) Right click and click "remove from device" on the books you want to convert 2) Uninstall current version of kindle (make sure you remove all the residue like shortcuts/ MyKindle content on documents etc) 3) Install kindle version 1.17 as this guy shows 4) Login > sync and check for new items (that little arrow next to "library" > click on the book you want to re download > right click and hit download 5) MAKE SURE THE KINDLE APP DOESN'T UPDATE (SWITCH OFF AUTO UPDATE) AND IS VERSION 1.17 otherwise this doesn't work. **Also make sure you use calibre version 4.23 along with the DeDRM version 6.81** which is what I used. 19/03/2021

I've seen some people saying this no longer works, but I thought I'd give it a try. It's 4th March 2023, and using Kindle 1.17 and the newest versions of Calibre and the DRM plugin, I have been able to covert 8 Kindle Unlimited books. So, in my experience, this still works and works really well. EDIT: Some books can't be viewed on Kindle for PC. This won't work for those books.

SoulStay I got that too, don’t install the whole .zip file. Instead unzip it first, you are going to get two other .zips: “DeDRM_Plugin.zip” and “Obok_plugin.zip”. You can install those without a problem and it should work.

I'm no sure what I did for it to finally work, but try this: Remove the old version of DRM tools plugin Install the version DRM_tools 6.8.0 in Caliber Close Caliber Logoff Kindle (I used the linked version above) Delete all the books (and files) from the original Kindle folder (linked in the video) Log back into Kindle Download the books again Open Caliber again Complete the processes as described in the video. I tried and it did not work. I believe this works only for older books. On the newer ones, the DRM can not be decoded or it won't work. Am I wrong? I am using the older version of kindle, etc. Still would not work for me.

When I try do login with my Amazon Account in Kindle 1.17v, it says "There was a problem Enter a valid email or mobile number". Changing password doesn't work. It appears to be something with this version, since the latest versions works fine for registration...
You have to select which Amazon country your account is affiliated to (from what I remember it is set to "default" or something in the bottom of the login screen)

Good video, but it appears that the Kindle app doesn’t download the whole .azw file. My file size is only 125 kb and everything else fails to convert. I wonder if they’ve caught onto this and limited the download.
You did not modify any pdf conversion settings before converting. Pdf looks like crap that way. For example margins. You did not set the margins, you did not set the resolution of the PDF.

hi, I am unable to convert kindle book to pdf. Problem = when downloading book in older kindle software 1.17 it shows to upgrade. when i upgrade it to 1.33 & converting by calibre then drm issue is there. I have tried 1.26,1.24 too. But no success. DRM is too rigid to remove please help.
This didn't work one single bit. 1. Mac won't download the older version of kindle (and I'm not even sure why we need the older version?) 2. How do we tell which kindle book is which? It's super difficult to find which is which when they're all under weird file names. 3. When one book finally imported into calibre, I went to convert it just to see if that part actually worked, and it failed. Said something about DRM lock. If you could help answer those questions, that would be rad.
When you convert it. Can you do search on the pdf? I did screenshots of every page 🤦🏻♀️ but is obviously pictures, now I transfer to pdf then to word and now I’m editing it because when I transfer it the words have spaces and then again once done back to pdf but it takes me hours so I will try this in the morning

Note: As of Sept 30, Calibre 5.0 won't be able to read the DRM plug.in. Downgrade to 4.23 to be successful :)

I took a while but I did work (July/2020)!
I'm no sure what I did for it to finally work, but try this:
Remove the old version of DRM tools plugin
Install the version DRM_tools 6.8.0 in Caliber
Close Caliber
Logoff Kindle (I used the linked version above)
Delete all the books (and files) from the original Kindle folder (linked in the video)
Log back into Kindle
Download the books again
Open Caliber again
Complete the processes as described in the video.

not working, kfx format does not hv single file in downloaded books area.
I do not think this works any longer. I'm able to convert from AZW4 to DOCX but when you open it, it's a bunch of jibberish and unconverted words.

Sir please help me in the new version of kindle can't calibrate the book and old version 1.17 kindle the book is not downloading it is asking for update the new version for download the book...

Work, What I'll say what was diff for me is, all I installed was the Kindle for PC 1.17 signed in using my amazon email and password and it automatically showed what I had purchased, I clicked the ebook i wanted and all pages__chapters loaded up right away. thnx bra. worked out for me

Everything worked just fine for me until I opened the pdf and it was both 300 pages too short and in a nonexistent language of complete gibberish and special characters. I have tried repeating the conversion 6 times and it has yielded the same result each time. What is going?

Good video, but it appears that the Kindle app doesn’t download the whole .azw file. My file size is only 125 kb and everything else fails to convert. I wonder if they’ve caught onto this and limited the download.
You did not modify any pdf conversion settings before converting. Pdf looks like crap that way. For example margins. You did not set the margins, you did not set the resolution of the PDF.

Tried this a thousand times, doesnt work. Keeps telling me DRM protected. But I loaded it and applied it and refreshed. Doesnt' work.

hi, I am unable to convert kindle book to pdf. Problem = when downloading book in older kindle software 1.17 it shows to upgrade. when i upgrade it to 1.33 & converting by calibre then drm issue is there. I have tried 1.26,1.24 too. But no success. DRM is too rigid to remove please help.
Don't update and check in the kindle options to block auto update.

This didn't work one single bit.
1. Mac won't download the older version of kindle (and I'm not even sure why we need the older version?)
2. How do we tell which kindle book is which? It's super difficult to find which is which when they're all under weird file names.
3. When one book finally imported into calibre, I went to convert it just to see if that part actually worked, and it failed. Said something about DRM lock.
If you could help answer those questions, that would be rad.

When you convert it. Can you do search on the pdf? I did screenshots of every page 🤦🏻♀️ but is obviously pictures, now I transfer to pdf then to word and now I’m editing it because when I transfer it the words have spaces and then again once done back to pdf but it takes me hours so I will try this in the morning

I could not do it with the version of Calibre he suggested to download. Instead I changed the version to Calibre 4.23 (you can find it in the same website for free). It worked for me!!!

When I load plugin from file (to caliber), it says: < DeDRM tools _6.8.1 zip is invalid. It doe not contain a top level _init_py.file > . Could you please help?
