This was my childhood Saturday market. We lived at Telford Road, in the early fifties. The fruit, vegetable, and fish stalls are still fixed in my memories. The sights, stands, smells, and noise are a part of me. ❤

The smell of fresh strawberries on a market takes me straight back to Portobello. I have it in the diary to go back and film again in the next 6 months - let me know if you can think of any places additionally to cover. Thanks for watching and commenting :)

How awesome! Notting Hill. I did not see the movie, but the book shop looks beautiful. But never heard of Portobello Road. Lovely bright colored houses with great history. I just love the beautiful brick walls and the trees and bushes lining the homes. I love that bright yellow cafe. wonderful. The shops look like so much fun. Just look at that cute tea pot at 5:26. Bravo, Admiral Vernon! I always liked Hugh Grant - especially in his period pieces with Emma Thompson. I never ever liked Julia Roberts! Ugh. Loved this video and thank you for all the details I learned of the areas. Yumm Yumm food court! I would love to try the many varieties. Yes, the art work with the x-Ray person reaching for the painting is quirky and cute. So note to self - look up! LOL Blessings.

Great video. I started going to Portobello Rd back in 1966 when I was 13. And my parents would visit family in London.I was collecting old 78 rpm records and gramophones. I would save up money from summer jobs and go buy a Edison cylinder machine or gramophone or even old radios and crystal sets. I still have them and I’m thinking of starting to sell some of them. I also collect old snare drums and drum sets since I’m a drummer and still playing at 71. I haven’t then there in probably 40 years and miss it ( and London in general) since I live in New York. I’m going this coming October to see a cousin and hope I have time to visit it and other areas or London that have antique markets.

great video. we will be in london in two weeks and are interested in visiting flea markets. looks like we will only have time for one on saturday. hubby collects old toys, baseball cards, pokemon cards, ephemera, etc. As he has a bit of a challenge walking too much, can you tell me if there is a tube station or taxi area nearby the section that has the arcades, etc? we will be staying out near heathrow. i know this will be a large task to take one, but we also know our limits and would keep to maybe just that one section . thanks so much.

I don't know why it is considered an antiques market because all I saw in your film were clothes, jewelry, food, artwork, etc. I didn't see any antiques in the street area at all. Even the "antique" section seemed to be just second hand clothes. When I lived there in there in the late 60s and early 70s, it was indeed an antiques market with stalls selling nothing else but antiques and bric a brac and the shops down there were also nearly all antique or picture galleries. They seem to be clothes or food shops now. It has definitely morphed.

Wonderful Sunday 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️as always. (Not sure what happened yesterday) I love watching it drinking my coffee. If I went there I would have to have unlimited money 💰and a lorry behind me. You can get everything you dream about. I had a raw oyster once in France and it was awful 😫 so I would avoid that stall. I prefer China ware as it needs doesn't need polishing. The thing with the silver is that it's more substantial. I would eat so much too. I like the pastel colors of the houses but not the really bright ones.it makes me very wistful. Thank you for such a great post. Did you have anything to eat there ?

So pleased you saw it and yes so much you could get! China is more delicate but a daily polish of the silver would keep it in check :) No I didnt eat there, thought about it but then wizzed to Brick lane to film the Saturday market there for a future video! Glad to find your comment and thanks as always Lesley, Steve
