Nothing is scarier than thinking your beloved coral is dying, especially when it could wreck havoc on your tank. Fortunately I think my RBTA was just pooping or doing a water change. :)
I just had it happen to me this morning I was freaking out did the whole suite of tests everything was normal. Then as the lights came on was back to normal like nothing happen.!
mine did it today! I was thinking noooooo, $100 down the drain! pretty sad. I have also seen him retreat at lights out. but this seemed extreme. thanks for sharing your experience Lazy Ass
My GBTA is curled into himself and looked fine before I left about 45 ago to go to the fish store for a CUC. Got home, he’s all curled up. See a little brown nugget come from his mouth and it turns out he was pooping. He’s still retracted some I’m sure he’ll come back up in a few hours
Did he end up splitting? Mine did the same thing but ended up splitting the third day! I felt exactly the same and was so upset and thought nooo I just love you don’t die... then my nem split lol!!
got mine doing that today, first time for me so i was thinking he was dying...now im convinced after some research that hes going to split into 2 cause his tentacles look like they form 2 separate circles...crossing my fingers that its just preparing to split

Yes mine closes up and excretes stringy stuff like every other night. At first my hubby and I thought it was dying but then it fully recovered so with many prayers my violet Anemone is still thriving
Prayers has nothing to do with your husbandry of pets. I am not atheist but in the grand scheme of things why not save prayers for real issues so that the people with real issues are lost in the sea of bullshit ones.

I’ve had my rainbow bubble anemone for a week now and have been feeding it damn near every day (mysis shrimp)🦐 Well I just looked in the tank and saw it deflated and a huge white wad hanging and some more coming from it’s mouth. I guess because they have one hole it’s one way in & one way out 😂
I'm hoping I'm in your situation. Mine shrunk up and I'm hoping he comes back. Was big and out and in 1 hour went down in size. Nothing changed in the tank

Sometimes anemones will deflate to expel waste and stale water inside of it

Mine pulled in for 24hrs I figured he was splitting then it came back out and it looked normal then randomly I saw a second Nem behind the rock
Don't know what's happening but it was pretty to watch. 😁
I'm gonna do another update but looks like he found a new home and is happy. :)
