the glasses thing! not so much discrimination for that but it's so rare to have a person w glasses that isn't a nerdy tech geek or whatever and is just... a guy. an athletic guy at that. basically unheard of. usually glasses are used as writer shorthand and are not treated as an actual assistive device. Haven't read Magnus Chase but that's also pretty cool!

Which funny cause Columbus was same person who direct the first two Harry Potter movies but screwed up Percy Jackson movies. He put so much understanding with Harry Potter but barely any with Percy. I don’t really understand how that happened. Maybe he’s out of his prime.
Another Similarity: in the Second installment of each series, the safe haven of the main characters are threatened... Percy Jackson its the poisoning of Thalia's Tree, in Harry Potter it is the Chamber of Secrets being opened.
I saw Snape as more compared to Dionysus. Both stuck in a position they clearly don't want. Both take out their obvious frustrations on their students. Both have a habit of making liquids that disappoint them vanish. Both have threatened the main character on numerous occasions. Both hate the main character because of their fathers.
He COULD also be compared to Hades. I think Dionysus is just way more apathetic, while Hades, having a life of misery, would compare more to Snape. Hades and Snape both were hated and misunderstood, both took out their frustrations on whoever walked by, and Hades and Snape also both hated the main character because of their fathers.
@@oscarj_1082 I love the House of Hades, because Leo meets Calypso, and also Percabeth in Tartarus. Plus, this is when Jason and Nico meet Cupid, I think.
but I thought JK Rowling just constructed a completely new history for that series? I think Percy Jackson was great because Rick studied (or already knew about) Greek mythology.
All I can say is. I am eternally grateful that Uncle Rick decided to go on with the stories and that allowed us to grow up with Harry and Percy as heroes and role modes to look up to we had them and the same time Katniss and Tris and just the way we grew up as a generation was amazing we became this force to be reckoned with thanks to these amazing stories I will always be so glad to have grown up an outsider/outcast book nerd because we are the ones leading people into battle now because we were empowered by these amazing and inspirational characters.
What I love most about Rick Riordan is how he was able to create a lot more books that somehow simultaneously stand on its own as a series and pays homage to the original PJO characters wheter in cameos or spin-offs. I also love how he also used his influence to help other writers to be put into the scene (with mythology based books) with Riordan Presents (I absolutely love Aru Shah, unfortunately I only have until book 2 since my local bookstore has not yet restock since the pandemic).
This was the conversation between Zoë Nightshade and Percy Jackson when he protested to go save Annabeth and Artemis along with everyone but there was no place left for him in the group. Zoë tells Percy that she would never travel with boys. To this Percy asked why she was taking Grover then. Then Zoë replies that Grover is not a boy but a satyr.
For me as a Greek person Percy Jackson appealed more to me though I love both series. Also in Heroes of Olympus Frank says that he always thought that basilisks were huge serpents that can turn you to stone So frank is a Potter head Oh also it is a common point between Harry Potter and percy Jackson i guess
No, JK Rowling didn’t come up with EVERYTHING in the series. Some examples are, Basilisks, hippogriffs, etc. These creatures are from Mythology. So, Frank is not a Potterhead. Just a Mythology nerd.

That's actually very accurate! However, while it took Harry Potter 7 Books to tell the whole story, it took Percy Jackson only 5 books to tell the whole story. However, the final Percy Jackson book leaves a huge opening for a follow up series of another 5 books. These give the fans more books to enjoy! @@DragonFGCdb that’s true but they pretty much all have the same plot Demigods go to Hogwarts and they have to hide the fact that they are demigods and Harry and his friends get suspicious because they think that they are working for Lord Voldemort and so Harry and his friends force Percy and any other demigods to tell them the truth and usually and not a very nice way either I want something new I want something fresh and more importantly I want J.K. Rowling and Rick Riordan to think of something together that would be new and interesting and have the demigods and wizards work together
You know, after watching your videos and getting acquainted to the Percy Jackson series, I was already picking up on similarities between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson: Both are kind children introduced into a world of magic and myth in their preteen years. (Harry and Percy) Both grow up throughout the series. (11-17 and 12-16) Both have a timid yet loyal male sidekick, and an intelligent female sidekick. (Ron & Hermione and Grover & Annabeth) Both rival a blonde-haired teenager throughout the series who serve as a conduit for the dark lord. (Draco Malfoy and Luke Castellan) Both have an enemy who disguises as teachers (Barty Crouch Jr. as Professor Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody and a Fury as Mrs. Dodds) Both series are part of a bigger media franchise (The Wizarding World and the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles) The list goes on. I've just listed some obvious ones.
Both books actually represent the heroes journey model. It’s a 12 step journey that authors model their books after. You should search it up Crash course has a great video on it. That’s why they are similar
The Harry potter books: amazing, interesting, dark, filled with great characters and creatures. The Percy Jackson books: pretty much the same The Harry potter movies: one of the best book to movie adaptations of all time. The Percy Jackson movies: **ERROR**
I loved your channel! I started by watching for Harry Potter. I fell out of Harry Potter, so I did with you too. I’m a huge Riordanverse fan, and I’m so glad SOMEONE is giving this series justice!
Also, another thing I liked about PJO that HP didn't have is the redemption arcs Riordan has. They are such a better pay off because it does it in a way that NO character is black or white, but simply gray, wich is something that it always struck me as naive from HP, and to quote sirius "the world isn't split into good people or death eaters" and juxtaposing Percy over Harry is a perfect way to see that while Percy understood this in the end, it took Harry a very long time to get there.
It's the journey of the hero with each story digging into their own unique lores and creatively making it have their own identities. This is why the stories are very similar, but at their core, they have enough merit to be their own stories. Otherwise the publishers of Percy Jackson would have just denied the publication and called it a Harry Potter knock off lol.
Enjoy the video! :)

@Catalino Books are the best. Movies are straight trash

Same with the forth books. The villains return. Voldemort in the end of triwizard tournament and Kronos in deadalus labyrinth

Clarisse isn't actually bad shes a badass and Draco straight up just becomes a death eater. Clarisse is a WAY better person

@@kamiko891 I mean story beats sure bu Harry follows a lot of combined elements of old myths.

Great idea!Lets do a Life of Percy Jackson
You know, after watching your videos and getting acquainted to the Percy Jackson series, I was already picking up on similarities between Harry Potter and Percy Jackson:
Both are kind children introduced into a world of magic and myth in their preteen years. (Harry and Percy)
Both grow up throughout the series. (11-17 and 12-16)
Both have a timid yet loyal male sidekick, and an intelligent female sidekick. (Ron & Hermione and Grover & Annabeth)
Both rival a blonde-haired teenager throughout the series who serve as a conduit for the dark lord. (Draco Malfoy and Luke Castellan)
Both have an enemy who disguises as teachers (Barty Crouch Jr. as Professor Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody and a Fury as Mrs. Dodds)
Both series are part of a bigger media franchise (The Wizarding World and the Camp Half-Blood Chronicles)
The list goes on. I've just listed some obvious ones.
Both books actually represent the heroes journey model. It’s a 12 step journey that authors model their books after. You should search it up Crash course has a great video on it. That’s why they are similar
If only the movies were represented as well as the Harry potter one's
I love both percy Jackson and harry potter
The Harry potter books: amazing, interesting, dark, filled with great characters and creatures.
The Percy Jackson books: pretty much the same
The Harry potter movies: one of the best book to movie adaptations of all time.
The Percy Jackson movies: **ERROR**

I love Harry Potter more over the years but before I read or heard of Harry Potter I loved Percy Jackson
Same but the opposite- I loved Percy Jackson more over time
@@fabled2448 yea I see someone others and why they like Percy Jackson more
There is genuine reason behind it, HP was centered more towards all ages as it went on, PJ has always been aimed for at children
The difference between the trios is that Percy ends up with the "know it all" while Harry doesn't
Ya Annabeth is lit a daughter of Athena
Because the HP and PjO trips are different in terms of relationship dynamics.
Annabeth is a daughter of Athena. Hermione is a nerd.
